Came here for lunch. I have been craving good Mexican food since I left Orlando. Still have not found something to beat El Cerro in Orlando, (located on corner of Alafaya Trail and University, msg me if you have been there lately!!)
First off, the chips that came to the table were fresh and crunchy. The salsa and refried beans were a plus! Just order the Queso dip and you are good to go on the appetizer before the main appetizer! I ordered the Steak Mexicano, sad to say I was not impressed with the steak. The salsa sauce it came in seemed too oily to me. The rice and beans on the side were delicious though.
I only gave it 3 stars because the main meal was more meh, than WoW! Service was great, and the atmosphere of the place was very chill.
Another one of my must go to spots.
Chips and salsa always great, chips fresh, salsa mild/medium in flavor.
Then they bring you a plate of refried beans with cheese on top.....very good.
I have tried so many dishes here with lots of friends and family. Great big restaurant, perfect for large groups, nice mexican decor.
I can do without the guys playing guitar and singing to you, but if you ask politey they will leave your table. Most of the time I am so busy talking, or eating, I don't want to deal with that.
The fajitas, chicken or steak have always been pretty good. I have had better but decent. Their food seems to be pretty consistent. I have been here at least 15 or more times.
Quesadilla (chicken) are good
Tamales- pass on
Enchiladas-good
The best part, is there MARGARITA'S!! Lot's of flavors to choose from and oh so very good.
Nice hangout to chill, enjoy, decent food, and great margaritas.
Service is ok, but always ask for your check when your getting your last drink because there is something about restaurants here that the waiters seem to disappear when your ready to leave....
When I am ready to leave, I want to leave asap....
Deserts are ok as well. Great place for kids also!
As a vegetarian and being that it is a Mexican restaurant. they have a nice selection of non-meat dishes. The food was fresh and plentyful! The margartias are huge and delicous. Also try the white queso dip you'll love it!! It's a fun mexican atmosphere where you are sure to leave buzzed and with a full tummy.
Sit in Robert's section have 1 or 2 top shelf margaritas ( you can't handle 3 ) and it's fiesta time! These are the best margaritas around. I dont know how they do it - there is some magic ingredient....
food is OK - good to soak up the margaritas...
One of my favorite Mexican spots. The salsa and chips are awesome, and they even play Mexican music which gives it an authentic atmosphere. My husband ordered the chicken and seafood and I was not impressed (what can you expect? it is a Mexican restaurant). But the enchiladas and fajitas are excellent.
You can often tell what kind of experience you will have at a Mexican restaurant by the quality of the Chips and Salsa they serve... at least, that is my little theory ;-) . The Chips and Salsa were not only exceedingly fresh, they were delish (and complementary)! The menu is quite extensive with lots of traditional and contemporary choices. We both ordered combination plates and found them to be tasty (nothing extraordinary, but tasty, yes). In line with most Americanized Mexican restaurants, Azteca is heavy on the beans and cheese, but they do a good job with it. Service was average, location was clean with nifty decor and roaming mariachis to entertain patrons. The Flan was excellent. Definitely worth a trip.
