HH review.
You have to buy a drink in order to get HH prices. I came here on a weekday and it was extremely crowded which I was surprised. Manager came by and ask how we were doing which was nice. We got the chicken quesadilla and the beef hard tacos. They were both good, and tasted fresh. I got some lemonade-alcohol infused drink and I thought it was okay. My friend got the same thing but it tasted different than mine. She didn't drink too much of it. -

Came to eat here after a graduation.
Ordered fajitas and a strawberry daiquiri.
My partner got a beer and a tamale. I'm not sure if it is this specific restaurant, but we both remember the tamales being much better.
The daiquiri didn't even pack a punch (or buzz). I have a weak tolerance for alcohol and I did not even feel (or taste) anything. I could have possibly gotten a virgin but got charged for the alcoholic kind.
The fajitas were not sizzling hot when served. More like room temperature. Had to wait 30 minutes for my tortillas. Was not a happy camper. I also ordered no sour cream, got sour cream.
The waiter replaced my food order with out argument (Very slowly, by the time I got my new food order I was already full on chips.) but was insistent that my daiquiri wasn't virgin.
As this being the flagship store, I'm very disappointed. I was a big fan of the chain for years, but not sure anymore. Maybe I will try another location in the future to make sure that the company hasn't gone down hill, or maybe not. -

Meh. Not very impressed got the taco salad and to add sour cream to it was $1.50! If I hadn't added it though there was not salsa or anything to moisten the salad. Asked for it without beans and there were beans on it.
The salad was mostly lettuce and I wasn't impressed with the quality.
The plus was service was quick for the big group we were with, but no one seemed too impressed with their food.
Needless to say there has to be a better mexican place around the area, I won't be back. -

It's been a long time since I've ventured back to the original home of Azteca Restaurants, in Burien. This is what I consider to be the flagship restaurant of the chain. I've been going to Azteca, way back, when they were next to the bowling alley.
The restaurant is great and very welcoming, the food is very good and consistent, the service is great and you always get a smile from you servers here at Azteca. The prices are reasonable and the portions kick it. -

The staff is great, and really friendly. I like that the manager comes and checks on you. They are always very clean when I go there, and they have great decor. There is also space for very large groups, so this is a good place to go get some grub with friends. Plus they make a pretty good margarita! Not bad for a chain of restaurants.

I can't believe our Azteca only got 3 stars!! We love this place, and always request to sit on the upper balcony. It has a beautiful view of Mount Rainier. We love Azteca because it is always delicious, consistant and fast. Ask for beans with cheese for your chips, its free and tasty. Ths chips and salsa are fresh and yummy. The Camarones Rancheros are delish, the Pollo con Arroz is delish. The Carne Asada is DELISH. We always ask for extra sour cream, and they bring a huge bowl, wow thank you!
We have had the fried ice cream as well, and I remember it being very good.
The service is always fast and friendly and sometimes funny. Gabriel is a great server.
We love this Azteca! -

You have to be observant and a good listener when you work the front. If you are not,.. then people are seated together who don't know one another; people can't ask questions; and don't get served.
I had a very short amount of time to eat and the confusion sent me on my way with no food. -

This was the first time I've been to Azteca, anywhere. I did read the reviews prior to going and some were correct. The prices are alittle higher than I'm used to for a chain restaurant of this level. I ordered the mole and actually liked it! Very good on the spices. Everyone else around me enjoyed their food and cleaned their plates. It was tasty enough, but average in it's taste - something you'd eat anywhere, nothing spectacular or memorable.
I was there for an organization's dinner where there were speakers. Could not hear them at all. The acoustics are horrible for something like this. I wouldn't suggest this type of venue for any event like this. We had over 30 people at this event and the staff assigned to us were very nice and friendly. One of the issues I have is they only placed water glasses for half of the table and never brought more once we were all seated.
The biggest issue I have is the drinks. Previous Yelpers were correct. They are very watered down and definitely not worth the price, regardless of the shelf level of alochol you receive. Someone next to me ordered the "big" margarita and I had a sip - no alcohol tasted whatsoever! If you are spending that kind of money on a drink, you wanna get the kick or bite, right??? I wanna KNOW I'm drinking!! Also, their mojitos are made from a premade mix, not there at the bar. Very sweet, you taste the sugar, not so much the flavor.
If you plan on going, expect to spend around 30 - 40 bucks per person if you want an appetizer, meal and a drink. The friendliness of the staff we had was very good and the food was palatable, hence the 3 stars. They lose two for the drinks and the prices.
Bon appetite! -

I've been going to this restaurant since I was young. They always have good food, and great drinks. The service speed isn't that bad, but if you want even faster service, make sure you sit in the bar.
The drinks are great, but pretty expensive. You get some of the most tasty drinks in the area, but at club prices, so it's quite a blow to your wallet. The menu never ceases to amaze, but is also on the more expensive side. When I go with friends, we usually just split a couple of appetizers - it's cheaper and it fills you up the same. My recommendation is the chicken taquitos.
If you want to do something different for your birthday, come here. They'll let you wear a sombrero and serenade you with one of their mariachi songs - pretty fun. -

Mimi and I stopped in to get some margaritas and grub prior to catching a 4pm showing of Sweeney Todd at East Valley. It was just yesterday when the Seahawks had their 1st playoff game against the Redskins. The bar was jammed packed like we anticipated so we sat in there. We got to experience a little bit of the game, have some very tasty raspberry margaritas, jalapeno poppers, and I horked down a chicken taco salad. Our server was friendly and sweet, the bar patrons into the game weren't loud obnoxious a-holes and so it was a good time all around.
Why only 3 stars? Those damn beans they serve along with their chips and salsa. I'm just sayin'. -

This place is fantastic. Their customer service is fantastic, the food is fantastic, the margaritas are fantastic, and their happy hour menu is fantastic. Oh, and did I mention they're fantastic??
Seriously though, I love the Burien Azteca. Actually, if I've been informed correctly, this was the first Azteca that started them all. (Their headquarters are across the street.) And I don't know about the other Aztecas, but this one has a happy hour menu with $1.00 menu items and discounted drinks.
And be sure to get the Macho Ramos Rita (on the rocks, with salt!) with your scrumpdiddlyupmtions. Arguably, it's the best margarita I've ever had. (And HUGE.)
On a last note, any place that will serve me a half a pound of sauteed shrimp and mushrooms drenched in garlic butter sauce? I'll have like 10 of it's babies! -
Review from Jena D.
I'm not the greatest fan of Azteca. It just doesn't do it for me. Everything about it here screams "MEH." I only came here because a friend took me when I was visiting. We sat in the lounge area. A host did seat us there, but we waited for about five minutes before anyone came by. Then they dropped off chips and water and took off for another five minutes. Were they busy? Not hardly... the guy who served us was watching tv at the other end of the bar. He only walked over during commercial breaks, no joke! Food was served on a huge scalding plate. We should have shared. I can't believe anyone could eat that amount of food pooling in its own oil. I think I had a coronary just watching my cheeses harden over each item on my plate. And, well, it just doesn't taste that good.

Who's idea was it to call this place a restaurant? I grew up in So Cal and could hit up any dive along the street and find food that was waaayyyy better and more authentic than this crap that they try to serve. Seriously, any place that serves white rice on a veggie burrito should be closed down for the good of all mankind. Maybe it was a mistake to order a veggie burrito, but every other thing I've ever ordered here was just as bad i.e. shrimp soup with overcooked, rubbery shrimp, and chile colorado that was horribly bland.
Mind you, I've always had to be dragged to this place because I never liked it, and each time has been worse than the previous time. These days I'm a little more assertive with my preferences and I certainly don't want to waste my time going to a place where they make the wait staff call everyone amigo. How humiliating.
Save your money and go somewhere else. -

This used to be their flagship restaurant and it served reliably tasty and large portions of americanized mexican food. That was then.
Now it is awful and serves food less good than Taco Bell.
Wake up and smell the coffee folks, that "food" will not support business. -

Horrible service in bar, food at this chain is mediocre, margaritas can't be screwed up... So go with that.

It's true that Azteca is generally bland. It's more of a comfort food kind of place for me. I always get the Chicken Macho Burrito and it is consistently consistent. If you want to spice it up, you pour their house salsa (which they'll bring you until you ask them not to), though it is not a salsa with a lot of zing. You get much more flavor from even Baja Fresh, but when that carb overload feeling hits and all you want is a huge tortilla with mushy pintos, spanish rice, stewed shredded chicken breast , and that subtle pale orange sauce poured over it all and topped with much ice berg lettuce, scant tomatoes and a dollop of THICK sour cream, accompanied by their endless tortilla chips, I'm afraid only Azteca can comfort. Burp.

Great stuff people. If you haven't been to the Azteca in Burien, right next to Value Village then your missing out. Literally. I come here with the same friends all the time, and it's great food. Great customer service on everyone's part (lots of teamwork it seems), and I never leave dissatisfied. Whenever your in the mood for Mexican, this is the way to go. Affordable dishes, nice location, clean restaraunt of course, and awesome...Margaritas! Always fruity goodness (just how I like it) and sometimes full of tequila (I'd recommend Patron) if that's the kind of drink your getting. I go here at least twice a month, and It is worth it.

All I can say about the food here is disgusting. I can't believe anyone can pass this stuff off as food. The burrito I got was nasty, with the beans congealed on the side. I couldn't even stand to look at it. Taco Bell is more authentic than this place!

The original Azteca (where Wizards casino is now) was amazing with very authentic mexican food. Since they have become such a large chain the overall quality has gone down to the point at which I will no longer eat here even with the super cheap happy hour food.

growing up, i used to love azteca, but now, it's diminished a little since i've traveled around and ate at taquerias and other authentic mexican eateries. the food is good, don't get me wrong, but it's not the best. i usually order the same couple of items when i go there, either a large chicken nachos azteca, a chicken fajita or a chicken fajita burrito. the nachos are good, cheese in about every bite. the shredded chicken is a little bland, but with all the rest of the stuff they put on, tomatoes, onions, guacamole, sour cream, green onions, jalepenos, you tend to forgive that. the fajita burrito is really tasty and is suggested if you want a fajita, but dont want to smell like one after the meal. the free chips and salsa is always warm and good. i like the fact that they have chipotle tabasco, not too many restaurants offer that. the service is okay, depends on when you go and who is serving you. i like the desserts though, the fried ice cream and the flan are good. this is a good place, but not great, i still come here every now and then.
