If you need a bit of Mexican flavor in St. Helena, come here. It's a small, local market with mexican food..from cookies to chips to burritos and tacos, they have it all. The people who were working there were very friendly and polite.

I had the carne asada burrito. The portion is HUGE and the flavor is pretty good. I didn't have to wait too long for my order to come. It had lots of ingredients inside the burrito and was pretty reasonable in price.

a quick an easy mexican lunch spot. The market serves great produce.

The burrito's and my friend's tacos were just a bit bland. I know we're a couple of gringos, but wheres the heat?

Amazeballs! If you are looking for a little slice of Mexican food heaven this is where you should go. First, the staff is extremely friendly and I would go in there just to see them. But second, it is my favorite place to have lunch on a sunny day. They have a great patio with umbrellas, first come first serve. But don't go there thinking you are headed to a restaurant, it's a market that just happens to have some killer tacos and other delicious items. If you go on a Friday get the fish tacos, my favorite, otherwise the chicken and pork tacos are also a great choice. If your looking for a quick bite or some yummy food to go swing by, I promise you'll be delighted!

Good local market go in there for a quick bit or if your craving some good mexican food. I like that its the only mexican market in St helena meaning that it you go here to find some yummy treats that aren't food anywhere else in town. People are good!

I love this place for its tacos, and burritos, but especially its tacos. The tacos are great and the price is even better. I usually get four tacos w/cheese and a drink for $8! Tough to beat, especially in St. Helena or in most parts. I'll miss this place since I won't be going here as much as I used.
Service is usually fast, but try avoid the 12 o'clock lunch rush unless you pre-order your food, but even then I never waited more that 12 minutes for my order. Lunch is usually busy because of the high school and local workers.

So I grew up in SoCal, and really miss this kind of food. I was in St Helena on business  for 2 weeks and ate here 4 times. Love the Al Pastor. The Chili rellanos also killed. So if you are into taqueria style eats, don't miss it....

I welcome tourists to hit those fancy and over-priced restaurants in the area for lunch.  For me, time is important when I am doing a day trip in Napa, trying to maximize the 6-hour wine tasting window (10 am to 4 pm).  I usually avoid a long sit down meal and head to Azteca Market.

For the most part, this is a market.  A regular non-upscale, mini-market, where I often see local workers frequent.  Inside this market, you'll find a counter where you can order a burritos or tacos.  I enjoyed their $1.50 spicy pork taco and beef taco.  If these same tacos were sold in the Mission, it probably wouldn't be anything special, but here, it's golden.

    PRICE:  For this area; cheap.
    $1.50 Pork Taco
    $1.50 Beef Taco
    $2.50 Beer
    ----------------------
    $5.50 Lunch

SEATS:  Limited.  Their front patio offers 4-5 tables.  Most people do take-out.

I'm not so patient, especially when I'm hungry.  So I'll drive right by Taylor's and their huge line to go to Azteca any day.  And for fast food, Azteca beats the heck out of the local KFC/A&W.

I like their burritos.  The chicken version has nice big juicy breast pieces and it comes with rice in the regular burrito.  The sauce that binds it together tastes like stewed tomato and onion.  Not at all spicy and not what one might expect, but it works.  Even the regular burrito is big enough that I couldn't finish it, but they have a "super" option if you're really ravenous or inclined to share.  They also have a fancy quesidilla on the menu, but were happy to make our kiddo a plain old one.  Plus tacos for $1.50.  Hard to beat that for lunch in the Napa Valley.

They do use styrofoam to go containers.  At least they keep a recycling bin next to the garbage on the patio though.  If you're dining "in" that means at one of the four little tables with umbrellas on the patio out front.

This is a really cute market that offers a motley selection of Mexican and South American groceries and treats, as well as prepared (and very cheap) taqueria-style food. Because normal grocery stores are so "cultured" now, many of the items found at Azteca can be found in other supermarkets, but it is still fun to scan the shelves and search for something unique. Also, they often have ripe avocados while the supermarkets sell rock hard ones (so you can actually eat them that day).

My boyfriend tried their carne asada burrito and was in heaven. He is a major burrito fan and connoisseur and was floored by the discovery of a great burrito in St. Helena! I only had some of his, but I really have to agree. It was not as heavy and lard-tasting as many of the burritos in the Mission district of SF (my boyfriend loves those too), but it managed to keep the authenticity and fresh, bold flavors of a quality burrito. In fact, I would say that the burritos here are unique... they walk a fine line that many other places cannot balance on.

We were looking to eat/drink in Napa on the cheap ... and as if by magic, we drove by Azteca and the reviews magically appeared on my iPhone simultaneously.

I got the chicken burrito. It was cheap ($5) and pretty filling. I would have preferred less chicken and more other stuff (rice, beans, cheese, etc.) but I'm sure lots of people would disagree. My only problem was that the chicken grease leaked out the bottom and onto my jeans.

If you're looking for cheap eats, this place is pretty solid. Don't go expecting gourmet, though.

Stopped in for lunch during a visit to Napa. I'm always happy to get a good, cheap and quick authentic Mexican meal, even if it's in a styrofoam box. Outdoor seating outside the store.

the burritos here may actually stop me from proclaiming that there is no great Mexican food in St. Helena. I'm still looking for the best, but haven't found anything close to my old stomping grounds (redwood city) or hometown (san diego).

The burrito is what I fuel up on when I have a late night at work. Sometimes, it even goes with wine. Not.

Looking for a quick snack, my wife and I stumbled upon this market with excellent steak tacos.  The pork tamale was also very tasty.

Not ashamed to admit we went back the next day and ordered the same things.  It was just as good.

3.5 stars.  Cheap and yummy... this is coming from a non-mexican food fan.  Cheapest place to eat in the napa valley without going to a chain fast food restaurant which is good in my book.  I'm not sure which one i like better, this place or la luna.

I love this place! After living in the Napa Valley for five years, I had to move away and I still have not found a taqueria as good as Azteca! My husband and I always make trips to the valley to eat Azteca along with the other Napa Valley restaurants we miss! My favorite thing at Azteca is the steak quesadilla but their steak burrito and steak torta are also amazing (I am a steak lover!) They have some special sauce that comes in all of their steak food and it's so good! The mexican popsicles are also really good especially the Walnut one! Avoid going there at lunch time during the week, St. Helena high school is next to it so Azteca gets packed with hungry students on their lunch brake!

What Richard G. said.  I had a great carnitas burrito here, a super burrito no less.  (The only time I have a super burrito as opposed to a regular one is when I split it with someone.  Half of a super burrito is about right.)   I thought the carnitas was great, and there's a market with all sorts of interesting cheeses and beer that's priced fine (not jacked up like many small markets).  The people are very nice, and it is spotless and a kind of cool industrial spot with a patio in front if you want to eat there.  They even bag your beer in a handy brown bag for not-conspicuous consumption.

When I first saw this place under construction, I thought, oh great...  It had a psuedo-modern, sort of industrial look that just screamed for attention from the passing drunks on their way to the next bar/tasting room.  I ignored it for almost a year, before I heard that it actually was an authentic taqueria.  Thoroughly confused, I tried the place out and was astounded.  It is actually a genre-bender that is excellent on all fronts.  It is indeed, an authentic taqueria AND hispanic market AND trendy eatery for passing drunks.  Best of all, it is VERY clean and the owners obviously take great pride in its appearance and the quality of the food.  Oh, and in a town where a hamburger can set you back $15, this place is a STEAL!  Excellent tacos for..........$1.50!  That's the same as the grimy taco trucks in neighboring Napa!

Located on Hwy 29 between Dean & Deluca, KFC/A&W, and Taylor's Refresher; across from Tra Vigne. This is a great little market with a hot food counter. I had a pork tamale and a Guatemalan beer. The tamale was really good and cost $1.65. We sat outside on patio tables. It is so nice to finally find decent Mexican taqueria in Napa Valley. For years I have wondered where all the Mexicans ate. There were Mexicans everywhere but no taquerias! Now there's something to eat besides A & W. The groceries are good... they have Central American foods and not just Mexican.

Great place for a quick and cheap meal, the simple burrito (bean, cheese, and rice) is great. Pair that with an Arizona  iced tea and you have a filling lunch for 5 dollars and 10 cents!

Middle of the road burritos for me. They do have a nice little tamales plate which I highly recommend. Outside of that though, just ok. There's so many Mexican markets/Taquerias in the area, they'd have to step it up a bit to get more of my patronage.

Azteca would not be my first choice for food in St. Helena. However, if you have been over-doing it on giugnis, and are looking for a quick bite, azteca market can really hit the spot if you're in the mood for mexican. It is very authentic and the portion sizes are really generous. The burritos are huge! We stop in here all the time, and never regret it. It's nothing special, or amazing, but it is really good, and gets the job done. I have never regretted stopping in to azteca for lunch or dinner. Go with the delux burrito, for 6.75 I believe?

Average Mexican food. If you want real mexican food, go to the Modesto 8th street taco trucks. I've ordered the asada burrito and tacos. The meat was a little soggy and not crispy, because they don't refry it like the taco trucks. It good price for the area and closest taqueria to Angwin, CA. The food is way better than Armadillos and burritos are about $6 and the tacos are $1.50. They automatically put mild green salsa for the gringos, if you like it hot make sure you ask for the red salsa.
