Red Red Wine... hahaha :)
I like coming to this place after a long day of working to unwind. The owner runs the bar and is so friendly and informative.
I had a certain wine in mind and asked if he could recommend something similar that he thought I might like, he hit the nail right on the head. I took home the San Simeon Cabernet Sauvignon and my cousin and I enjoyed ever drop during our girls night in :) -

Sometimes it's nice to just go somewhere for a glass of wine instead of sitting at home. When the mood strikes us, we like to go to this place. It's small, independent, locally-owned, and ten minutes from home (in the summer we walk there).
The owner, Galen, is a great host. If you aren't sure which wine you'd like, he's happy to make a recommendation. The other employees are good at this too, BTW. There are some pretty expensive (and worth it) wines to choose from, but there are some more "reasonably priced" selections as well. They recently upgraded their beer taps, so they have a good choice of drafts as well.
You can go before or after going elsewhere for dinner, or you can have one of their cheese boxes. You can also order a pizza or a sandwich from Red Devil, the joint next door. We've even packed and brought our own "picnic" when we've gone. No problem!
The special events--wine tastings, flights, pasta/burger nights, etc.--are especially great. It's a chance to try something other than an old favorite. Live music (often jazz) on Friday and Saturday nights feature local artists; you can sit in the front to listen, or sit in the back where it becomes more background sound.

My sisters and I visited AzoVINO a few weeks ago following a dry (gasp!) family reunion. After spending the day with family we barely knew and had either not seen in 20 years or had never met (and most of whom are on the opposite side of the political spectrum from us), we were in dire need of a great adult beverage before heading back to northern California.
We were graciously greeted by the proprietor, Galen, and he chose a lovely bottle of wine for us. The lone beer drinker in our group was heckled in only the friendliest of ways (for ordering Coors Light), and we felt right at home. Our visit was brief, but quite memorable, and given the chance, I'll go back again. And if I do, I'll plan to spend more time enjoying his great selection of wines and browsing the lovely items for sale in the retail area.
BTW - it was on Yelp that we found and chose AzoVINO. -

Stopped by this Wine Bar on Saturday night with 2 of my girlfriends and it was definately a cool spot. They had a live band which was mello but sounded great, they played old classic rock kinda music everyone knows. The bartenders were very nice and knew alot about the wines they were serving. Their prices were very reasonable for a wine bar, I wouldn't say they were too expensive at all.
Only thing that bummed us out on this particular night was that we were completely starving and they didn't serve any food. This was only a downfall on this particular night though cause we were hungry. For my future visits I think it will pretty neat to bring in our own stuff and have a little feast with their great wines.
This place is HUGE too! You could seriously walk in with 20 people and they can accomodate your entire party no problem. They even had a neat patio in the back which was also pretty big. Older crowd, so the 21 year olds might not dig it but I'm a "young" 31 (LOL) and I thought it was great. I will be going back again and bringing my mom with me next time. -

Azo is one of 2 "wine bars" in the general Covina downtown area, Azo being my favorite for a few different reason.... A. they are actually a wine bar, not a club with crazy music although they do have a jazz saxophonist that was there the last time I was there, but you know what I mean! B. They owner is a really cool guy that genuinely enjoys being around all us local Covina winos! C. you are allowed to bring your own food in. D. it's right down the street from my house.
I usually have a few glasses of wine once in a while, but I'm more of a beer drinker, which works out because they have a decent selection of good beer! Check it out yo! -

Great beer selection and have goblets to drink from. I am a local and the vibe is always full of nice/sophisticated people. Galen the store owner is a great host and makes everyone feel welcome like it was his own home.
This is the place if you want to drink great wine or beer without your typical loud-ghetto-club crowd. They also have great "live" bands that perform Fri-Sun. -

Great place to hang out. Cool atmosphere, really laid back. We used to come here every Thursday, but now that my wife is Pregnant, we haven't really been able to do that.
They have a really cool Wine Club too, great perks with membership. I will warn you all right now that the service is not awesome. The place sometimes gets really packed, and it is understaffed (to keep overhead manageable) so your wait time for drinks will be a lot higher than you may be used to. Being a small business owner is tough during these times, so I hope this place stays open for many years to come. -

After a hard day at work, a few friends of mine try to hangout at Azo Vino every Thursday night. Why not? It's close to home and Azo has a great selection of wine and beer. I also like to grab one of their snack plates! Cheese, grapes, crackers, and chocolate! Scrumptious!
The owner, Galen, likes to make the rounds and talk to the patrons. Let me tell you, that guy is funny! He has some pretty interesting stories.
I also recommend if you are a local, to purchase the Wine Club Card! It's a good deal, and you are entitled to discounts, a free pour every month, and a free Birthday Pour! In the words of Homer Simpson "Free!? How can you lose!" (Last episode I watched)
All in all, the staff is friendly, the drinks are good, and the prices are reasonable.
Cheers -

Never heard of this place before until my sister in law happen to drive by and saw that it said "WINE BAR".
A wine bar in the SGV that I don't know about. I must be slipping. Nah! I am just use to my favorites and I don't usually go outside the box much. But I couldn't resist coming out on a hot summer day to poke around and see if this place was any good.
This place is an art gallery/wine bar. The owner added the wine bar about a year ago.
Man! I really must be slipping!
An entire year and I never knew.
Anyways!! I couldn't help but notice the aroma when I walked into this place. It wasn't wine, but what seemed to be scented candles. Yikes! bad combo for wine tasting!! I walked around his shelves and realized the majority of his wines were California, with a splash of Old world here and there. Mainly Argentine and some Spanish. After walking around I didn't feel compelled to stay, but my sister in law insisted and we sat at the bar to check out the tasting menu.
Azo vino has a beautiful sitting area. Big fire place for cold winter nights. Comfy couches scattered throughout. The tasting menu has several wines to choose from. Ranging from $2.00 per pour to about $12.00 per glass. They also mix soju cocktails ranging from $6.00 to $8.00. Several beers on tap and in bottle form. Overall, this is a neat bar. As for the wines, they could use a tweak or 2. I am not in the industry, but because of my extensive tasting knowledge. There would be several wines that would be great choices for Oldtown Covina.
The owner Gallen seems to be a great guy with a fun sense of humor. We were entertained with great stories and funny jokes threw our stay here. The experience was very pleasant. I will be back to check up on them soon.
It's me!
I'm a Wino!
I can't help myself!
Check em Out~
Cheers -

We came here to have a little wine before going to dinner to celebrate my Uncle's birthday. The wine bar itself is not bad. Pretty cool place. They have a decent selection of wine to choose from. However, their prices seemed a little high to me. What really upset me is when we picked out a couple of bottles to have, they informed us that there was a $8/per bottle corkage fee. At a wine bar? It's not like we are bringing in our own bottle of wine. We bought the wine there, and now they are gonna nickel and dime me on top of the already pricey wine? I've been to countless wine bars across the nation and never have I heard of such a thing. They said that it was to pay for their employees and the cost of washing the glasses. Ridiculous.
All their employees did was open the wine and bring it to the table. They didn't pour any for us, nor did they serve us by refilling any of our glasses either. Yet, they had a space on our receipt for a tip. I don't think so.
I left having felt a little taken advantage of. I believe I will heed the advice of Lindsay Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac and "Never Going Back Again"!
Sorry Azo, you blew it! -

My boyfriend and I were driving around after a movie on a Saturday night looking for a place to get a drink and just relax. Somewhere we would not have to fight over a jukebox or DJ just to have a conversation. I'd seen this place when I was walking my dog before and figured we should check it out. We drove back and forth about 3 times because we could not tell if it was open, or if anyone was even inside.
When we got inside I realized the front half was a store/ "art gallery" and the back was a cafe/bar type deal. Very weird. We had a seat and ordered some drinks and a cheese box which looked like a box lunch package of cheese bits rather than something you would find at a wine bar.
Overall the place was ok, had a very weird feeling. I know we wanted a place to talk but no joke this place had NO background music. Just a few TVs over the bar that were on mute. And there weren't even enough people in the place to feel like there was background noise. -

Good funky atmosphere and good wine. Not as sharp on knowing the craft beers here but have a decent selection... and hey... its a wine bar not a microbrew bar. Pricing is a bit steep in some selections. No food but they let you bring in your own eats.

Excellent selection of wines. Live entertainment on Friday/Saturday nights. Another reason this is an enjoyable place is that they have various "themes." Such as, Thursday is flight night with a different winery featured every week. Once or twice a month they will have a Pasta dinner or Burgers and Beers combo.

Glendora, CA
Here's the reason - its not necessarily the wine, the wine you get at this fine establishment you can pick up around town at your better specialty stores or local markets. It is the atmosphere you are going for. The owner Galen and his team are just plain fun, entertaining and knowledgeable. The gallery has plenty to see if you enjoy art. They also have a large selection of beer and Japanese Vodka (try this if you havent before). You need to know - there isnt any food available, except for light appetizers available on Thursday during flight night wine tasting...and you better be early. But you can bring in your own food, highly suggested. Grab some assorted cheeses from your local Trader Joes, or some hummus and pita breat, cut up fruit and your set..,..oh WAIT!!!! Dont forget the chocolate! .
Azo meets Giovannis Restaurant - once a month on a Tuesday Giovannis will be at Azo with Italian or Mexican food like you have never had it before. First off, you cant beat the price, it runs about 8 bucks and the plate is filled to the brim! But forget that, its more about how delicious the food is and how well it goes with the selection of wine that owner Galen Metz has picked out for the evening. -

We live really close to this wine bar. It is a nice relaxed wine bar in Covina, that serves MANY California wines. They also have a lot of fun tasting nights along with other events. My boyfriend really enjoys their beer tastings, they do burgers & beer tasting once a month. It is usually the owner that is pouring the wine, as they do have quite a lack of staff. All in all nice place to stop by and hang out!

This wine bar/art gallery is a great place to relax, and unwind. Very spacious with couches, and other styles of seating. There is a large selection of wine, and beer with good music in the background. It's easy to find, and a great place for parties. I've actually hosted a few, all for a very reasonable price.

Like Brandon C. (3/30/2010 review), I too had a very similar experience with the service. In fact, I blogged about it on Facebook - http://www.facebook.co...
I'm not shocked by Brandon's experience. After seeing the responses I received from others on my Facebook blog, it seems par for the course.
That's unfortunate. -

Needed to find a place to chill out after work and after a lack of service from Rude Dogs, and not very friendly crowd at wild wings I made my way over to Azo. I am not much of a wine drinker but I do like a good selection of beers and they have a good variety on tap and in the bottle. Three flat screen TV's accent the bar nicely. Now this is not a sports bar but a nice local bar where the staff get to know you by name.
Galen is the owner there and it does not take to many visits before he and his staff remember the beer you like and pour it for you with out even asking.
Now besides the beer, and from what I can tell the huge selection of wine, they have what I like most, live music. From Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock they have it all. Just make sure you get on the email list to find out who will be there. I recommend Lorenz, who plays there as a solo, and the band The Brats, which play there ever so often. I hope they get booked there more cause I will for sure show up to hear them play.
No food there, but they let you bring in food from other places, and with Red Devil pizza next door, you can not go wrong. -

I stumbled on this place this week and had to check it out. It looks like a store from the street but tucked away towards the back is a bar and a cozy seating area. Great atmosphere and crowd. You can taste by the glass or a traditional tasting size pour. And if you want to talk wines the owner, Galen, can really give you the 411on the wines he's pouring and then some. Don't miss Thursday night's "Flight Night." This place is an obvious contrast to most of the drinking establishments in Covina. If you're not in the mood for Rude Dog, go to Azo Vino.

Come in as much as possible. Nice local wine bar, w/good employees. Gotta get signed up to get emails. They let you know about upcoming events, live music( wich varies from jazz to hybrid rumba???) and wine tastings wich they have paired up with a pasta bar that Giovanni's brings over every third Tuesday of the mo. $7.99 for the pasta bar, and $12 for the "mini tasting", can't beat that!!! And they have 3 tvs to watch the playoffs:-) Go Lakers!!!

La Puente, CA
as a wine bar it's okay, pretty good selection of wines. i had two glasses of la creama chardonnay and a stag leap petite syrah; prices are moderate to slightly high. it has a good mix of people and you can order food from a nearby italian restaurant and they'll deliver to the bar, kinda cool. the music is always very cool and for the most part the service at the bar is decent and friendly. i think they have 4 beers on tap, one is arrogant bastard, which was the real reason why i came; a bit pricey for a pint. you'll catch a few snooty people but it's to be expected from a wine bar.

Great place to have a beer or two if you're looking for something different than ones you would find at chain restaurants (bjs, tgifs, chilli's). Wine... Well is delicious. Can't go wrong with this wine bar to begin with. Some nights have wine tasting as other nights are jazz/poetry. If you're around the area to visit or you are a local I'd recommend this place to lounge.

A great place to enjoy some good wine and relax. With the inclusion of a variety of beers, its a good place for to enjoy both worlds. What is also good is that you can bring your dinner here as well to enjoy. With several restaurants near by, you have plenty of choices.
