After reading previous Yelpers' high praise for Anza, I packed up the pooch and took the 25 minutes drive to check it out for myself. It may not look like much from the outside, being nestled into the corner of a rather run-down shopping plaza, however, inside the smells wafting through the air completely made it worth it. In my experience, gluten-free food may taste like the real thing, say cinnamon rolls - however, the texture is where the challenge comes in. I would put these baby bite cinnamon rolls (buns) up against the great gluten versions for a taste test. I also was pleased that they were not overly sweet.
Anza also serves a lighter fare lunch including sandwiches and the like. Prices are pretty reasonable, $4.00 - up.
There is also a small freezer section for breads, lasagna and other frozen food items.
Everything is baked on-site. The kitchen was clean and organized.
I think next time I shall try a calzone or call ahead to pre-order some bread. -

If I could give this place ZERO STARS, I would. This is the worst service I have ever received. First, they fail to make a birthday cake that I ordered a week in advance (which I didn't find out about until the day of the birthday!!)
Second, which is the best part, they "don't give refunds" and want to give me store credit! I live over an hour away from this place and have no intentions of shopping there again. A whole lot of good store credit does me!
If you are going to run an establishment that is catered to specific needs then you should offer stellar service. Mistakes happen, but take responsibility for them and do the right thing! -

I was diagnosed with Celiac at the beginning of this year, and this was my first gluten-free birthday. My best friend ordered and paid for a cake from this place. When she drove from ELK GROVE to pick it up (it's about a 45 minute drive) the bakery was CLOSED with a handwritten sign on the door (it was a Tuesday and should have been open).
An employee on their day off happened to be nearby and asked if they could help. My friend explained the situation and the off-duty employee called the owner, who finally tracked down the guy who was supposed to be running the bakery that day. He finally showed up to open the bakery, only to discover that my birthday cake was NEVER MADE.
Azna Bakery, I was really excited to be able to have a birthday cake that I could actually eat. You ruined my 25th birthday. -

It is with such a heavy heart that I withhold 3 of the 5 possible stars. I want to like this place. I really do. And the guy behind the counter was so nice.
BUT
I purchased few different items and only two of them were good. I was so excited about the homemade GF bread, and fascinated by how something so compact could weigh so much. The bread was frozen and I kept it frozen until a few weeks later. That was the day I ended up using turkey as bread because this bread dissolved into mealy crumbs before I had taken a couple bites. Perhaps I waited too long to use it? I won't be bothering to find out.
I also bought a brownie. One bite and nope.
Now the good: the cherry turnover and the donut! I will be back for those. -

Sorry but I'm not a fan of this place at all. My wife brought home several items which I tasted without knowing where it came from. I knew immediately there was something wrong with it. I asked her "is this some sort of low fat hippy crap?".
That's when I learned it was from the nearby gluten free bakery.
I disagree with others who say you won't know the difference- you will. If that's what you are into then you may enjoy it.
If you are looking for a delicious no-holds-barred bakery then this isn't the place. -

I purchased a vanilla cupcake with chocolate icing - first cupcake I've had since being gluten free and it was such a treat. Thank you for making such delicious items! I'm having the lasagna for lunch today - also very yummy.
The bread is a bit dense, but was perfect for makiing grilled cheeses and my non-gf boyfriend liked them as well. I'm sure it would be great for toast as well.
We especially loved the blueberry waffles.
A bit pricey, but nice to have gluten free baked goods and pasta. Definitely worth the price and the trip from Sacramento.
Thank you Azna! -

Amazing Gluten free food! The cinnamon rolls rival the best regular rolls.
They also offer a few non dessert items like calzones and lasagna. Excellent to stop in for a quick lunch. -

I wrote a review for Azna on Vegansaurus because I felt the need to share this wonderful bakery with the masses.
Vegan! Gluten-free! in California! Need anything else to get you there? Didn't think so. So go, now. -

I thanked my lucky stars when I found this place. I was visiting my grandparents in Sacramento and was suddenly hit with a craving for baked goods!
This little shop has a variety of gluten-free vegan baked goods - I'm actually surprised by it's location but grateful nonetheless.
The staff was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I was indecisive because everything looked so good, so of course I did what any other foodie would do and left with a box of goodies to share with the family :0)
My family couldn't believe how yummy everything was considering it was vegan and gluten-free --- which is perfect for my grandparents' health.
I suggest trying a variety of items - scones, muffins, and pastries! -

If I didn't tell you it didn't have wheat in it, you wouldn't know. The scones are buttery and fabulous. Oh yeah, and there's no butter in them either. Raspberry-Lemon? Yes, Please!
This place is a godsend for anyone who has Celiac or just doesn't want to eat wheat.
My boyfriend has Celiac-Sprue, and like many of those who have it, he also can't eat dairy. So gluten and dairy are out. That's okay- we eat Thai, Sushi, and all sorts of other stuff, but once in a while, you just really want a waffle.
Enter Azna.
They are a fantastic bakery, with an unassuming store on the corner of a main street in Cameron Park. You can also order online, but not cakes. If you live in Sac, it's worth the drive, definitely. They made me a birthday cake that my boyfriend could eat as well, a Lemon decadent wonderful cake that was better than a wheat-based one I purchased from a bakery down here. I took both to a party, and everyone devoured the Azna cake before they touched the other one. When I told people it was wheat-free, they just shrugged and said, "Who cares? It's awesome!"
The frosting was made from Earth-balance products, I believe. It was fantastic.
They took my order quickly and efficiently, had great customer service, were super friendly when I arrived, and ran a clean shop.
Their products are also vegan, if anyone finds that as a plus.
What a gem. It's true that there's still gold to be found in the hills, and it's Azna.
We're getting the chocolate waffles next. But seriously, get the Lemon Raspberry scones, and be prepared to hide them from anyone else in your household. -

Well I'm still not clear what their business model is because they don't have much on display to buy, and I've only tried their scones so I can't comment on their entire selection.
but...
Their scones are DELICIOUS! I'm not a big morning sweet guy but sometimes I just have to stop in on my way to work for one of these treats! I've yet to try a flavor I did't love.
I don't have Celiac (that I know of) and the first time I stopped in I asked what gluten free meant (OK so I never claimed to be smart).
The older lady behind the counter looked at me like I was being rude or something. A big construction worker guy behind me piped up and explained simply that it means the food is baked without wheat due to some people having an allergic reaction to injesting wheat.
I was wondering what in the heck these two big burly dudes were doing in a "Vegan establishment".
Anyways, I highly recommend this place for the scones alone, if the rest of their food is remotely similar then you will find it to be delicious! It is pretty well hidden in the corner of the building it's located in so look closely or simply order online.Listed in: Just Around the Corner

I don't have celiac disease or any special vegan diet but I love their bakery items. I've tried several things ranging from cookies, cakes, cinnamon rolls but I must say i love their cupcakes. Very moist and I love the soy butter frosting. I would have given it 5 stars but I must say they are not the friendliest in there.

A cute little bakery at the corner of green valley rd and Cameron park dr, at first was a tad difficult to find it's hidden in the corner of the strip mall on the same side as the liquor store. Offers vegan gluten-free bake goods some bottled drinks, coffee and tea (they're also open for lunch and dinner). I had a mini calzone and a small tea, the cashier/cook was very helpful and friendly. The calzones crust was crunchy and the middle soft and moist, the tea was refreshing all though I found it to be over priced at two dollars, as it was an ordinary tea bag of refreshing yogi mint.

I haven't met a pastry from this bakery that I haven't liked. Enjoy coffee and espresso, cinnamon rolls, muffins, scones, cakes, breads, pizza crusts and pies. This bakery is a gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free and vegan. If you are on a gluten-free diet, you can eat here with confidence, this bakery is a gluten-free facility.

whenever I need an insanely yummy vegan cinnamon roll, I head for cameron park. or a brownie. or a cupcake. or a scone. I don't care about the gluten free aspect, you can't even taste that part of it - I go for the veganness of it all and it always pays off! the people who work there are very cool as well. I just wish they'd move closer to sacramento!
