This may not be my most colorful review, but that is usually a good indication that all is well. Azerbaijan Grill is a small restaurant tucked in the far corner of a parking lot - discrete enough to ignore by your occasional passerby, but noticeable enough to if you are trying to look for a quick lunch. It certainly does not have an inviting appearance, but look beyond its homely exterior and be prepared to be greeted by a memorable, warm, blue and white decor. And if you find it to your liking, it would not be difficult to keep it from being known to others.

Save for a few items, all the lunch menu items are off the grill and have that characteristic charred flavor and texture that can only come from a grill. Your meal is presented to you on a notably large, oval porcelain plate. So large in fact, that it may seem that the portion seems insignificant (it isn't). It is certainly no Vincent's-sized portions, but it is definitely enough to fill you and some more.

Azerbaijan Grill gives provides a sophisticated meal, melding a variety of flavors, textures and temperatures. A lot of the ingredients are familiar to many people, so it won't discourage the more picky diners. Your entree comes with warm basmati rice, a slightly charred and smokey plum tomato and onion, a cool yogurt-based pita bread dip.

It is difficult to identify what really shines in Azerbaijan Grill and that's not to say that's a bad thing; is mainly due to the fact that the entire menu is fantastic. I have to admit that I have not tried all the plates, but what I can say is that out of the few similar restaurants I have been to, Azerbaijan is definitely one of the more memorable ones.

What a sweet place to stumble into for Valentine's Day. Thank you Cheesecake Factory for always being crowded and disappointing. The place was half full and such a neat and intimate place. They dec'd out the restaurant with hearts and even had a v-day prefix dinner menu.

We started with the Hummus, which I highly highly recommend! I'd seriously go back just to eat that! The hummus tasted very sweet and had a kick to it...great seasoning!

Then we kinda shared our entrees. I got the lamb chops. They were cooked to a medium finish, so it was still a little pink inside, smelled a little gamy, but very tasty. It came with some vegs and rice. I liked the rice; made with chicken broth. It also had a a little cup of mint jello. Now, I had never had mint jello until then, so I was very surprised. I thought it tasted like toothpaste. But he really liked it. My friend had a salad with grilled shrimp. Very fresh salad but nothing wow-ing about it.

And although I still can not pronounce the restaurant's name, I would like to go back...and def will recommend if you're around that area

We ate here on It  a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was empty - not a good sign.
We ordered the babganosh and turshi for appetizers.  The babaganosh was really good. The menu said that turshi are homemade traditional pickled persian vegetables. I love giardiniera and oshinko so I was excited  to try it. TERRIBLE. I called the waiter over (who was in a corner engaged with his iphone) and asked him if the pickles were made on the premises. He said that they come from a jar. Really? Who does that? So I sent them back and became suspect to everything else we ate.
Mike ordered the falafel platter and I ordered the cornish game hen kebob. His was dry; mine was moist.
The portions were large and the price was fair but the I didn't care for the atmosphere or the service or the jarred vegetables. I don't think that I will be coming back.

Very surprised how good the food at this place was. Went here to get some lunch while my wife and I got a new tire for her car after a blowout earlier. Nice place with lunch specials for about $11. Not bad I was just hungry. I ordered the Lamb Shish Kebob with green rice. Amazing! The amount of lamb and rice was incredible. It was freshly made and just tasted great. My wife ordered the Falafel lunch special. Huge and crisy the way it should be. Three huge patties with hummus. It was a perfect lunch with great food. I could only imagine how the big the dinner specials are for like 2 dollars more. Service was great and very friendly. Highly recommend this place when in the area.

Prob needed a 3.5 but YELP never learns and I do feel generous because i have gone back so I guess I am a fan.

Good bottle of Turkish wine to start, at the recommendation of our waiter/manger (they are def. short staffed).  Don't remember the name of the wine, sorry.

Appetizers:  Lentil soup good flavor but not a great consistency for me.  Sanbuseh - crispy vegetable and chickpea dumpling.  Pleasantly surprised.  They were very tasty and come with a savory sauce.  Also, you get pita and yogurt sauce.  Falafel was a little dry but good.

Food:  Beef and Lamb Shish kabobs are GREAT!!  White filet fish was a little too garlicky for me but not bad.  Side of salad or rice, both are good side options.

    Dessert:  Baklava was very yummy.

I had just parked to go eat dinner at Bacci's when I saw Azerbaijan Grill in the corner of my eye. After a quick Yelp check, I decided to change the food venue from Italian to Middle Eastern.

Right off the bat the hostess and waiter were friendly and the pita with yogurt sauce was worth the trip alone. There was so many delicious sounding dishes on the menu that I finally gave the falafel platter with mixed vegetables (extra to replace rice) a shot.

INCREDIBLE. To date, best falafel I've ever had. The mixed vegetables were delicious with the hummus and the grilled onion and tomato were a perfect compliment to the top notch falafel balls.

The host was eating as well since we were just about the only people in there and he asked, "Is your good, cause mine is delicious". It was like he was reading my mind. Anytime. Anytime I'm in the area I will stop by here, in fact I will drive out of my way to have Azerbaijan Grill again.

Grilled chicken kabob with rice was also outstanding.

Had Lunch here with my fellow NAVEL EXPO members and Wow was the food great. The service is attentive, food prepared to perfection and delivered promptly. Plenty to go around with treats to take home!
Now I know why it was recommended to me...if you are smart you will go before it gets so crowded you have to wait in line.

Totally discovered Azerbaijan Grill today on a whim-- I ran in at exactly 3pm asking if they were still offering their Lunch Special (7 days a week 11:30am-3pm) expecting them to say no, but they were! Yay!

    The 2 of us shared:
    1) Complimentary Pita & Yogurt Sauce- NOM. The Pita was nicely charred and Yogurt Sauce was light & refreshing.
    2) Azerbaijan Salad - Fresh & crisp!
    3) Lamb Shish Kebab - Came with a side of Grilled Vegetables, Brown Basmati Rice, and a choice of soup or salad. We chose the Lentil Soup. Everything was great.

It was a feast of a lunch, and the bill for 2 came out to $19.45!
Decor is casual/upscale. Staff is polite and attentive. I'd gladly come back.

Finally!  A place in LI that knows how to make excellent falafel!!  I'm a falafel FIEND (as one can see by my reviews)!  I went today based on reviews, but only got take out so I'm not sure how the dining experience is.  I can say that the gentleman who assisted me w/ my take out was just that - a gentleman!  And everyone I encountered while waiting (only 10 min even though it was busy/7pm!) was also friendly.  Very personable staff AND good food to boot! I'm pleased!

This spot is near Roosevelt Field Mall and the Source Mall so it's in a prime area.  Also, they give ALOT of food for the falafel platter: 3 huge crispy falafel patties, well-seasoned brown rice with hummus, pita and a salad.  I can make another 2 meals out of this! *thumbs up*

Finally! My little sister and I always find time in our busy lives to spend some quality time together.  We both love trying new restaurants all the time. My sister works very close to Azerbaijan Grill and she love it.  She has been telling me about there wonderful lunch specials and attentive staff.  I trust her taste but I had to try it for myself.

I had the grilled Salmon with a special seasoned rice.  The plate also had fresh grilled vegetables. The salmon must have been on a rotisserie because the equally portioned pieces came staked as if pulled off a skewer. Awesome presentation and brilliant Mediterranean flavoring.  The lunch also came with one of the most scrumptious salads I have ever tasted.

Truth be told, if you find yourself craving something a little different for your taste buds, I encourage you to stop by Azerbaijan Grill. The unique flavor and style will make you a repeat customer. I'm Now ONE!

The kebabs rock! The price is reasonable. The portions are huge. The owner has photographic memory! He does not need yo write anything down. He can remember everybody's order, I mean everybody! Enough about that, back to the food. The babaganosh and spinach pie are awesome. The kobideh, boneless chickenand adamant kebabs are out if bounds! It should be illegal for making food this good. There lunch specials start at $10.95 dinner at $12.95. The evenings get busy because the place is small, so get there early. The have another location in East Meadow, I haven't gone to that location yet, but im sure the quality is also there. So get going, once you try this place.  Other kebab places just can't compare

I must have passed this place a million times and never noticed it. I never even knew it existed until this past Saturday night. My girlfriend and I consider ourselves foodies and she suggested trying it after a few hours of indecisive bickering of trying o figure out where to eat. For us, this happens quite often but usually ends up with great results after some research.

We pulled into the parking lot and in the corner of the strip mall like complex is Azerbaijan Grill. In my head I'm saying to myself, oh god, what have we gotten ourselves into and my stomach started to run for the exit to the lot. The place from the outside looks like any other place in a strip mall and had me worried. We opened the door and were transformed into a completely different atmosphere. A very homey feel to it and it was packed! It was packed with people of all different ethnicities which made me feel more confident of the superb meal that was about to come our way. The only thing I thought felt out of place was how the bar was decorated but ok, ok, it's just the bar, whatever. We were greeted by a very nice young lady who brought us to our seat and handed us our menu's which were covered in reviews from Newsday claiming best food awards from years past and again my stomach cringed a little. Why I thought would they have their menus decorated like this? Especially since the last award was 2008 or 09 if I can remember correctly.  It definitely threw the feel of the restaurant off but oh well on to the menu.

Lots of different choices of kebabs, meats, fish, rice, everything you would expect from a Mediterranean restaurant. I decided to go with the Sultani Kebab which is a combination of Barg (tenderloin strips) and Kobideh (char broiled seasoned ground beef and lamb) with cherry rice. The kebabs were really good, nothing that blew me away but tasted something made at home which went along with how I felt with the atmosphere which was very nice. Out of the two kebabs my favorite was the Kobideh (ground beef and lamb). Thinking about it now the lamb and beef kebab was kinda OH MY GOD good. They were very flavorful and spiced perfectly. The only thing I was disappointed by was the cherry rice. Some bites were better than others but I regretted not just getting regular basmati rice. My girlfriend had the boneless chicken kebab and it was good, very moist with very good flavors. She also got the brown basmati rice and said it was very good. I would write more about the chicken but I'm not a huge fan of chicken in general so it's hard to write a review unless it blew me away.

Overall a very good place and I would love to come here again in the future.

Honestly, It's one of the only restaurants on old country road you shouldn't drive past. Though the whole presentation is straining to be romantic, the food is always excellent, and the waiters, if a bit curt, are efficient and know about every item on the menu. It's not a huge space, and I always feel a bit on-display while eating here, but it's the only good Turkish food I've found in this area.

Though I've had the vegetable moussaka and kebab, I am now permanently down for the salmon kebab. The (fresh) strip of fish is beautifully charred, seasoned with lemon, a tiny bit of garlic, and some salt, and maintains a hard-to-come-by moistness that doesn't border on being repulsively undercooked. The rice is also surprisingly well-flavored, and the grilled onion and plum tomato (which accompany most dishes as the side) are fresh, ripe, and charred perfectly. Though I'm not a fan, they also serve whole grilled fish. The spinach pie is worth the extra money for an appetizer, but one piece is certainly enough. The desserts (other than the Turkish ice cream) should be skipped.

The most peculiar thing is that the prices here are really reasonable, and at times (gasp) seem cheap. Especially when you go for the ten dollar lunch specials or falafel platter. I would almost rate the place higher, if after I was finished eating I didn't have the urge to leave so immediately. It's not unattractive, I just never feel completely comfortable eating here. All the tables are too far apart, so you feel like everyone's staring at you. Yes, I'm a bit paranoid.

    Go for:
    the fish dishes
the only good Turkish food around
    kebabs

    Keep your eye on:
the other diners (that guy just might have a gun in his soup)

Neatly tucked into a corner of a strip mall is a quaint, cozy restaurant named Azerbajan Grill.

Decor is decent. The restaurant is cozy, and the atmosphere is welcoming.

Service, in an empty restaurant was prompt and attentive.

Food, is blant. The ingredients were there but the execution wasn't. The lentil soup wasn't salted or seasoned and as a result was flat begging for spice. The pita bread was slightly burned. The lamb shish kebab was made out of a non traditional cut, juicy but again not seasoned and screamed for a sauce. Same story for grilled vegetables seeking less fire and more spice. The restaurant satisfied my hunger but not my appetite.

This place gives you bread for DAYSssSssSss...which is a plus, especially for some of my carbo-loading friends.  They also provide the tastiest homemade yogurt I've ever had.  It can make 3 day old doo-doo taste like Heaven.  Ok that's a little of an exaggeration, but you get the point---the yogurt is good.  The things that caught my eye was its modest exterior and when we entered we were surprised to how cozy the room felt.  I loved the simple turkish-persian-mediterranian décor (if simple is possible).

Note:  The only issue I probably had about this place was that I could not pronounce any of the dishes.  The whole ordering conversation I had with the waiter resulted in me saying "I want this..." and continued to point my finger to the item on the menu.  End note...

For the Appetizer:  We chose the Azerbaaijan Special Combo which included the:
-Kashkeh Badenjan (Cooked eggplant with onions in a tangy tomato sauce topped with yogurt)...I tell you my dear Yelppers, I took one bite of this and I thought I had died and gone to delicious egg plant heaven.  And I'm not a big fan of eggplant.
-Spinach Pie (phyllo dough stuffed with spinach and feta cheese), this was ok.
-Sambuseh (crispy dumplings with stuffed vegetables and chickpeas), I didn't taste this because by the time I wanted to try it, everyone SCARFED it down...HOW RUDE!...so I assume it was good.

    Entrée:
So I love lamb, and I initially wanted the Lamb Kebob served with their brown rice and charred vegetables.  But, one of our friends insisted that I try the Adana Kebob.   Normally I go with my first choice, but he then said "It's FANTASTIC"...so to prevent things from being awkward, I got the Adana Kebob.   It was an average choice.  I tasted my boyfriends Lamb chops that he ordered and they were absolutely scrumptious.  One of our friends got the shrimp and based on her plate I'm assuming it was good because she ate everything.

Finally, we ended with some coffee.  I didn't order any, but I'm kicking myself for not.  I've had Turkish whiskey before and I thought to myself, "if their coffee is anything like their whiskey then HELL-to-the NAWH to that!"  I tasted my boyfriend coffee and it was like nothing I've ever tasted before.  The coffee is far more concentrated than lets say Dominican or Ethiopian Coffee, the grounds are at the bottom (so try not to stir), there is a slight film of foam on the top, it's served in a teeny tiny cup (looks cute and dainty, but very awkward looking for boys with big MAN Hands), and it has a natural sweetness and spiciness to it (I don't recommend adding sugar or milk).  Absolutely wonderful.  Oh! BTW their portions are HUGE...GINORMOUS HUGE...and did I mention that the place is a $$ out of a $$$$...the prices were not bad, not bad at all.  I wouldn't mind going back...

Came here last night, was really wanting some fresh, good mediterranean food.

I ordered the shepherd salad (it's called something else here) that had cucumbers, tomatoes and red onions.  The dressing had a lot of parsley and oregano in it, and it was made with fresh lemon juice, salt and olive oil.

I also had the hummus, which was topped with fresh tomatoes and onions.  I would add extra olive oil to the hummus, but otherwise, it was pretty good.  The meal was served with hot pita bread, that was slightly smoky from the grill.  The best part was that my meal was only $12!

My family of 10 came here for a birthday dinner at 6:30 pm on a Sunday. The place was moderately packed with about more than half of the ~20 tables occupied. There are also an additional 3-4 tables outside in the front of the restaurant. The ambiance was fairly dark, with the lights on dim setting, white tablecloths, dark wood-lacquered chairs, and rugged carpet flooring. Not the most attractive nor romantic, just very simple.

Service was good, as our waiter came by occasionally to check up on us and refill glasses of water. I believe the manager (owner?) came by to make sure everything was alright. Our waiter was always a few feet away which was convenient when we needed anything else.

    For appetizers, we ordered the:
    1) Azerbaijan Salad ($5.95) which included a combination of fresh lettuce, plum tomato, cucumber, red onion, green and black olives and mix fresh herbs served with special house dressing. This was a fairly simple salad, all ingredients fresh. The Azerbaijan salad had a vinaigrette-based dressing which was light yet refreshing.
    2) Greek Salad ($5.95) which included tossed Romaine lettuce, plum tomato, cucumber, onion, red pepper, grape leaves with extra virgin olive oil and vinegar topped with Feta Cheese. Again, all ingredients were fresh. Again, simple yet effective. This salad was a bit more interesting with the vinaigrette dressing, salty olives and feta cheese.

Also included on the table was simple pita bread and Tzatziki sauce which was subtle in flavors of yogurt and herbs. It could have used a little more garlic to accentuate the blander yogurt taste.

For my entree I ordered the Adana Kebab ($13.95) which was a skewer of chopped ground lamb, onion, parsley and garlic grilled on open fire. Served on the side was choice of brown or white basmati rice and grilled vegetables (1 plum tomato, several broccoli florets, and half an onion). The ground lamb, about the diameter of a jumbo size hotdog and about 1' in length, tasted a bit like hamburger meat, though not as beefy. It was good but nothing to rave about. It could have used some more spices. I did find myself enjoying the brown basmati rice, which had a nice fragrance and nutty flavor. Yum!! The grilled onion was also very sweet, mmm, Vidalia possibly?? I also had a chance to try the lamb from the Lamb Shish Kebab which is cubes of lamb marinated in house special spices. The lamb was tender and moist, but again, could have used some more spices.

In all, service was average, decor simple, food was well-priced though not the most generous of portions (except for the rice which was a generous mountainful). The flavors were decent though I would not put it down as one of my favorites for Mediterranean food. One thing I was pleasantly surprised with was that the owner gave the birthday guest a gift certificate to come again, which was a very nice gesture.

The food here is amazing just look at the pictures. I like to try everything so when my family and I was driving back so long ago (when I was too young to even know what Azerbaijan was but had recently made my life goal to try food from every single country in existence) So I told them we just had to come and eat here so I could cross a country off my list. I wish my family came from a country of such delicious cuisine (not that I ever met a potato I didn't like or could ever pass up a blintz).

If you like middle eastern and greek food, it's time to try azerbaijani. In fact it's very nearly identical to what I've eaten in persian restaurants, except the items are called by their azeri names. I really don't know what the difference is though. My taste buds are torn between two countries!

This place seems to be very quiet during lunch time which is my choice time to got there. Also there are many of options for vegetarians, you'll have a hard time deciding.

I stumbled into Azerbaijan Grill a few years ago, and have never really left.  Prior to finding this unassuming Middle Eastern restaurant, I doubt that I would have been able to easily locate Azerbaijan on a map.  Now I feel like it could be a second home.

I wandered in this restaurant  when the wait for a table the neighboring Italian restaurant was too long.  The burgundy and white interior was elegant, simple and welcoming.  My party was seated by the host/owner.  We all selected the lunch special.  The price was unbelievably low, and we spent the entire meal waiting a "catch" which never showed up.

I started with the babaganosh, a blend of oven roasted eggplant, olive oil and tahini.  The flavor was delicate and smooth.  I followed with the salmon shish kebab, but substituted shirazi salad (cucumber & tomato) for the rice.  The salmon was perfectly prepared - light, moist and tender.   The shirazi salad was crisp and tasty.  (Now a staple for me with every meal at Azerbaijan.)  A refreshing rose ice cream made for dessert.   I was hooked!  I have now made my way through almost every item on the menu, and was only disappointed once. A Wednesday evening special featuring a preserved lemon definitely lost something in the translation, but to each his/her own.

The service at Azerbaijan can be a bit erratic, mainly because preferential treatment is given to "family & friends."  Fortunately, you are considered "family" on your second visit!  I was greeting like a long lost sister upon my second visit.  The host/owner remembered  my previous order, and substituted the rice for the salad shirazi.  He also inquired about my companions from my first visit.  So if  takes a little longer for someone to take your order while the host makes a fuss about a regular, come back a second time so someone can make a fuss over you.

I knew our phyllo dough stuffed with feta cheese appetizer wouldn't disappoint.
I had the chicken kebob and it sounds generic but it was really good. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and tasted even better the next day.
Highly recommend the cherry rice. Never tried it before but the flavors all went well together.

From the moment you enter Azerbaijan Grill, you are treated to a casual, yet upscale atmosphere. Pleasant Mediterranean music combined with fantastic decor, you know you're in for a treat.

The prices are fair for the portions you get, and you do get a lot. One thing I can definitely say about this place, is that the food is consistently fresh. Apart from being fresh, the cooks really know what they're doing. The food is just so... for lack of a better word... delicious!

A place to have dinner right before a movie, we chose this place because of the great reviews from others.

    FOOD
I ordered the appetizer combo to try out all the samplers, and it was yummy.

    - Complimentary Pita bread and yogurt - very, very fresh.

    - Kashkeh Badenjan - Cooked eggplant with yogurt. Very creamy. I think it actually goes well with the pita bread.

    - Spinach Pie - Very crispy. It kinda reminded me of curry dumplings from Chinese bakeries, but not curry and a lot better.

    - Sanbuseh - crispy vegetable and chickpea dumpling. Mmmm, chickpeas.....

    - Cherry Rice - this rice is awesome. Must try.

    - Kebabs - I tried some of my friends kebabs, I have to say they're a tiny bit on the dry end, but quite flavorful.

    TL;DR
Try the flavored rice. And appetizers. =)

The spinach pie appetizer was amazing and if I ever went back I would definitely get it again.

I had the salmon shish kabab for an entree and it was good, but nothing special.

Try the spinach pie! You won't be disappointed!

F.Y.I: Their specials are only valid Mon-Thurs. On weekends, everything is regular price!

I went to Azerbaijan few years back with a friend of mine. I was craving for some good Mediterranean cuisine and usually, that is HARD to find in Long Island. The exterior seemed somewhat shady when I first saw, but once I got in, the place was nice!
First thing I wanted, falafels. The price was right and I was stuffed. Now I wanted dessert as well and I asked the owner what could I try, he recommended Persian ice cream which still intrigues me.
Overall, it just shows that I do not need to go to the city for good Mediterranean food, I got it right around my home.

Dinner with 20 people family style. I would have been happy with the lamb, chicken, pita bread and hummus. The meats were perfectly seasoned and tasty.

    But the food kept flowing.

A big Greek salad came out full of sweet tomato and onion and yummy cheese chunks. Then seafood skewers were a bit dry but seasoned well and a delicious white fish and side dishes of seasoned rice.

The food was tasty and filling. I'll be back when I am in town.

The service is excellent. The environment is very nice. The food is just ok. I had better Mediterranean food. The prices are higher than average.

Too pricey for the amount and quality of food served. Rice was plentiful and decent. The meat and vegetables were not. The adana kebabs were tough and dry. Edible, but not my favorite. For our appetizer, we ordered sanbuseh. It was so tiny for $6, and they weren't even phenomenal. Just average. I appreciate the complimentary pita bread with yogurt sauce, which was again, average. I don't think it's worth the cost, so I won't be coming back.

We tried Azerbaijan Grill in based on feedback that we saw online for the place. The Westbury location is inside a strip mall across from Baci restaurant in Westbury. There were no issues for parking as a result. We were greeted at the door by the host, who also appears to be the owner. He was extremely friendly and attentive. The decor was better than I expected for a casual dining establishment.  For the table, we were served warm slices of pita bread with a yogurt dip that was similar in taste to Greek Tzatziki sauce. The host/owner recommended the homemade falafel as an appetizer. They were delicious. For the main dish, we had ground beef/lamb kebabs that came with a side order choice of either white jasmine or brown rice and a grilled plum tomato, grilled onion, and brocoli. They were also delicious and the portions were huge. Desert was baklava and also tasty.  Overall, I'd highly recommend this place for fans of Middle Eastern cuisine who are looking for a nice, casual place that they can eat well and not spend a fortune.

Great food and nice ambience, the exterior appearance is misleading and potential patrons should look past the giant neon green placard posting lunch specials.

Just after being seated the waiter brought a cup of yogurt and warm pita bread but we still ordered appetizers. The spinach pie was nice and the hummus was infused with fresh olive oil, tomatoes and red onion, the never ending pita bread was delicious and there is no additional charge for it. I had lamb kabab and it was cooked perfectly and the portion size was larger than expected for the $14 price.

One criticism was that we had empty glasses for longer than we would have liked and it seemed that the waitstaff disappeared after the food was served.

I'm a big fan of this place.  I've eaten there two times now.  I really liked the Greek salad. The Azerbaijani salad was really good too (very similar to the Greek salad).  The lamb kebab was great. Nice and tender.  Great flavor, too.  I really liked the hummus and the falafel is super good.
A great place with great service.
    I'll keep going back.

I too stumbled into this place when my son and I went looking for an after movie dinner.  All the franchises in Westbury (cheesecake Factory, The Grand Lux, Olive Garden) were packed and we saw little reason to go through an appreciable wait for mediocre food. We tried going into Ayhans which is a good local restaurant with several locations but also had a sizable wait.  I pass this place on the way to the train ever day, remember it had a good review so we tried it.  Service was good,, prices were reasonable, portions were large and the food was very good.  I had the lamb shank which was large and covered with a rich, spicy brown sauce.  The hummus made for a good appetizer and the shish kebabs, which my son ordered, were very good, well cooked and well seasoned.  desert could have been a bit better, the baklava was good but nothing special.  My son;s first Turkish coffee opened his eyes wide and I think it took about 3 days before the caffeine left his system and he was able to sleep again.

Skip the glut of franchise restaurants when on Old country Road and seek out this local find.

Have you ever had an experience that you've eaten something so good and you'd get so excited that you'd be dancing while introducing the restaurant to your friends? Wellz... This is the one... I literally had my arms waving everywhere while I was telling my friend about it.

When I first parked my car with my co-worker, and look at the restaurant from outside.... "Man, what is that? It looks like a regular Chinese takeout restaurant with the word Azerbaijan Grill in front"

When I walked into the restaurant... "Wow... it's something different! with the decorations... I guess I'd be broke by the time I walked out..."

When I first looked at the menu... "Oh! Price is GOOD! let's see how's the food quality~~"

When the soup arrives.... "OMG! This is some great stuff!!! it tastes great!"

When the main course (I ordered lamb stew) arrives... "....(speechless).......Are you kidding me? They're serving some 5 star gourmet quality food but with a fast food price?!?!? How come it's not a full house!?"

When the bill arrives.... My co-worker, "You know what? I'm going to bring my wife here tonight!"

And here I am, a happy customer dancing while I write this review~~
It's a "must eat" restaurant in Garden City!

My parents just introduced me to this place, and holy moly am I impressed! Amazing food, surprising find. We went to Long Island for a grueling day of shopping, as many people do, and found salvation for our hungry selves waiting at Azerbaijan. Awesome babaganoush, great kebabs and steak, wonderful Turkish coffee, and baklava like no other: real, honey dripping home-made goodness. I would even drive up to Old Country Road specifically to eat here!! Don't ever get stuck in the Roosevelt Fields Mall food court again! Forget the Cheesecake Factory!! Eat here!!

Stopped in for the lunch special- good deal. For about $11 and change, you get a choice amongst a list of about 15 items. I went wit the boneless chicken kebab. The chicken was nicely cooked and there was lots of it. It came with rice, a small salad, and a pita. Good deal, will have to come back and try the rest of the menu.

Amazing food. This time my boyfriend and I split the 3 appetizers for our dinner. ($13.95) The falafel is amazing. I also love love love the eggplant (#1) dish.. It is eggplant with garlic and tomatoes, almost like an italian dish.. soooo good.  The 3rd choice was  feta and spinach wrapped in an eggroll type wrapping. YUMMMM salty goodness.  I also ordered a side salad and hummus. There was way to much food so we took a doggie bag home and are excited to have lunch for tomorrow.
