Missy at AZ Studio is a hair savant! She is a superb colorist delivering razor thin, natural looking highlights and manages to cut hair in a way that makes it appear twice as thick!

I have been here twice to have my eyebrows waxed, and I have to say Lorna is fantastic! She does a great job and is very pleasant as well. I now have a regular place for my brows.

Went there looking for a new look. I was warmly welcomed and was a few minutes early to fill out a form with basic information. I then got an awkward tour of the studio by a self described "new employee" while I waited for my stylist to finish with her client. It's not that big of a place and you kinda know what is going on nails/hair/skin care. When it came time for my appointment my stylist was great. I got a great color and an amazing cut, just what I was looking for! Even better there was no pressure to buy products or book a next appointment (which I will do!).

Upscale and Unpretentious at the same time! I was putting off my much needed haircut because I couldn't bare the thought of returning to the overly hyped South Boston hair salon I had been going to, and getting subpar cuts from it's owner. AZ Studio, the sister salon to Andrew Zona Studio in Hingham Center, is a refreshing change. I received personal service from Melissa, who has been with the salon for 10 years (that says something about the salon and it's owner). Melissa greeted me warmly, and we sat down for a chat about the cut I wanted before proceeding to the shampoo, which she provided herself even though she has an apprentice. She says that with new clients, if at all possible, she likes to be with them from start to finish. Nice, huh? Anyhoo, I am thoroughly satisfied and have booked another appointment with Melissa for a foil next week.
Oh! The salon's store front boutique has a mess load of hip products such as Bumble and Bumble and Kiehl's, to name a few. It's worth a trip just for that!

About two weeks before my wedding, the hair salon that I had booked six months prior, called me to let me know that a.) my makeup artist was going to be on vacation b.) I would have to pay additional to have another makeup artist come in and c.) that my 'girls simple up do would cost $150.00. No way was I going to go to an overpriced salon that expects their clients to pay for their mistakes .
So, I was out of a stylist -- both makeup and hair -- what was I to do? Luckily my MoH suggested AZ studio. When I phoned, I spoke with the owner who was calm and courteous. By the grace of god, she told me some of her girls were available and could style us (at a much more reasonable price to boot).
Two weeks before the wedding, I met with my new hair stylist Lotta and my new makeup artist Lauren at the salon. The salon itself had a modern, funky cool vibe and was as PJ M. described, upscale and unpretentious at the same time.
The trials went more than well -- I was beyond pleased with the final result and left feeling confident that everything would work out.
Day of the wedding, Lotta, Lauren and Lotta's partner in crime Kristin traveled to my home to work their magic. Work they did...there were nine of us. They were professional, calming and most important -- made me and my fellow 'gals look and feel absolutely radiant on my big day.
I would without a doubt, recommend AZ Studio to all my South Shore friends, whether in need of an up do, a makeup artist or a hair cut. (During my trial I witnessed the most wonderful transformation -- a shoulder-length blonde exited the salon as a bright eyed 'bobbed brunette. Magic!) -

I met my stylist here probably around 6-7 years ago. She has since moved to another salon (where I followed her), but I still come to AZ for the awesome selection of products. I've purchased everything from intense conditioning treatments to perfume to false eyelashes to lip balm. AZ carries higher end products like Kerastase, Bond No. 9, and Shu Uemura.
The staff is always pleasant and helpful when I have questions about the items they carry. If I forget what I've purchased before, they are more than happy to look up my purchase history to try to figure it out. Prices for both products and stylists are reasonable.
Also, you can't beat the location. I love Derby Street and used to make a day of it here: lunch, hair, shop, dessert, home. -

This place is the bomb! The atmosphere is cool and cozy, the staff is friendly, funny, and gorgeous, the price is right! How can you beat that? You can't! I have seen Grace off and on for the past 5 years and she is by far the best men's cut you can get. I even refer my male friends from Boston and north to Grace when they are looking for something better than the run of mill places. GUYS CARE TOO! Grace is funny, stylish, edgy, and a top notch stylist across the board. I have witnessed her expertise many times through the years, whether she is giving advice to another stylist on color or cut, or she is helping those of us who are less fashion forward recreate an awesome style she is hands down on top of her game! The bottom line is, when someone knows what they are doing, they own the show, Grace owns the show! Check it out you will NOT be disappointed!

I don't get my hair done here, but I do go in rather frequently for hair products. They are always so friendly, knowledgeable about the different products and generous with samples. I've even had to return things that I end up not liking and they very graciously take it back with a credit to try something else. Since they have such a wide range of products, it's easy to find something right for your hair.

They do an OK cut but I must say their customer service is lacking. I like to hear advice from my stylist, have a conversation but I must say C... is anything but attentive. I felt like it was supercuts so if that's what you're looking for, this is the place to go. the cut was ok, but I don't think I'll be coming back unless I'm desperate.

I recently went to this salon on a recommendation from one of my friends. I had a great experience booking my appointment with the knowledgeable staff. They found me a great stylist that went to the end of the earth to make sure I was happy with my service, who also informed me of a great blow dry class to teach me how to style my hair just the way she does! (I was also told about another special event about fitness they were having, but I didn't quite understand what it had to do with hair care?)

I think all the girls here are amazing! Esp Christina Franklin, she could cut my hair with a blind fold on and one hand tied behind her back and my hair would still look amazing!!!! She is very good at what she does. especially with curly unruly hair, which i have. Denise is also really awesome at hair color, she has an eye for what looks good and have been very satisfied with her picks.
Ive also been in there when Grace has being doing extensions and she looks likes she does and amazing job, some day i might want to try that. ive also been in there during prom season.. and her updo's are little pieces of art.. i would highly reccommend
The desk can be a little hairy at times, mostly because they are so busy. You have to leave your gratiuty in cash , which sometimes i forget, but no big deal
they carry all the best products and their prices are cheaper than going into boston, -

Tracy ROCKS! I HAVE been everywhere! Trust me. I am growing my hair and have been for the last year, this is the first hairstylist that actually said, hey, you don't need a cut, its healthy and just shaped the front. Thanks for actually thinking of me and saving me money! Plus, the color she did was awesome and perfect for me! LOVE HER and I am definitely going back!

So my girl friend got a haircut here today, and while the haircut was "fine" (technically speaking), her stylist was unfriendly and the salon upped the prices she was quoted after the cut was done. About a month ago we walked in and they quoted her a price of $45 for a cut....we couldn't get an appointment that day so she finally decided to give it a shot today given to positive reviews on yelp. Today they quoted her $50 over the phone, "ok, no big deal she thought". She gets her hair cut, goes to the register and they tell her it will be $75!!!! She literally got 1 inch taken off her ends and was out in under 25 minutes! It is completely fine to pay for good service, and had she known the price up front she would likely still have given this place a shot, but this kind of deceitful price gouging is unacceptable. I hope people will think twice before trying this place. I know it has 2 $$, but the place I go to in Boston is much nicer and only charges $60 for a girls haircut. Beware!
