Its part of a strip-mall-like shopping center and the exterior looks the part. I wasn't sure what to expect from a Thai spot in this area, but I was happy to find it! The interior was surprisingly beautiful. Lots of cherry woods, warm paint from wall-to-wall and on the ceiling, ambient lighting, even in the restrooms, and beautiful artwork. The hostess wore a traditional Thai dress and she greeted us with a smile. Great first impression! Our server was wonderful too. He had infinite patience for our table's questions (we had a Thai food virgin and a Thai food novice with us).
I was super excited to see a whole section on the menu dedicated to my favorite bird...the duck! I didn't actually order off that menu, but I did order me some duck. Our table had Duck Noodle Soup, two orders of Pad Kee Mao at different spice levels (my GF ordered the "Thai Spicy"), Chicken Fried Rice, and Spring Rolls. The "Thai Spicy" noodles were indeed spicy, but the dish was really bland...salty enough, but that fresh basil kick was totally absent. My duck noodle soup was also dull, probably the dullest I've ever had of this dish.
I'm actually kinda sad I can't give them a better review, but Thai food needs to be on point with those spices, and unfortunately, this place missed the mark. -

This place was beautifully decorated, and the service was great... although, we were the only people in the restaurant.
I think the food is expensive, but at the same time, I'm Thai.. so I always think Thai food anywhere in America is expensive. -

I enjoy this place and have eaten here a few times with the girlfriend who is a picky eater. She always seems keen on going back for the pad thai, so that's definitely a big compliment there. I've had a few of their dishes and all were good. Not the best I've had, but very good. Decor is very atmospheric, service is always top notch and timely.
Oh, and another reviewer complained about a lack of crab rangoons.... hate to break it to you but that's an American invention from Chinese restaurants. I love them too, but you can't get upset that an upscale Thai place doesn't make them. -

I thought I had reviewed Ayuttaya..wow can't believe I forgot.
We've been going to Ayuttaya for about 6+ years now. Sometimes restaurants get worse with age, but Ayuttaya is consistently good and on top of their game which is Thai food.
Atmosphere = gets a 5 rating for Ocala, I personally think it's more chic that Sky Asian Fusion decor.
Service = gets a 5, always very friendly and attentive, there's always someone to ask around, all you have to do it look up and out, and someone will be right there to help..love it..good service
Food = this is why we yelp right ? a 5 also..excellent non-fried spring rolls, excellent peanut satay with the little sterno grill, my wife always gets the Pad Thai..and everywhere else we go she gets Pad Thai and we both admit Ayuttaya has the best in North Central Florida we've tried. Still hoping to try SEA Thai in Orlando that everyone is raving about.
Prices = gets a 4, but you pay for what you get, they are not expensive, but they are not inexpensive either, you really feel you got a 5 star meal and service at and excellent price.
We like Ayuttaya first and Royal Orchid second. Royal has a more traditional Thai decor inside, Ayuttaya has a more chic minimalist decor inside, but very cozy and comfortable, not cheesy or over the top. Just classy.
Highly recommend !! We drive all the way down from Gainesville to eat at Ayuttaya as we don't have any good Thai in Gville. -

I was in town for business and saw the restaurant. I was skeptical about finding good Thai food in a smaller city, but I went. So glad I did. The food was great. I did need to spice it up a bit with the condiment tray, but it was just great.

Absolutely first rate, from the freshness and flavor of the food to the great waiters to the calming peaceful interior . This is the best Thai in Ocala and Gainesville hands down.
My personal faves are chicken satay, hot sour soup and "bang bang" chicken - fried chicken fillets with chili sauce. The basil sauce and massaman curry are superb.
Add to all of this that the prices are cheap as ho hum Chinese takeout and you realize how great this place is .

After reading the other reviews, I would like to qualify. I would not recommend the Pad Thai here. It's not bad, but I agree with the reviewer that said it was bland. I also agree with the reviewer who was disappointed that some common Thai dishes are not on the menu; that surprised me as well.
However, there are menu choices that are superb. These include the Tom Yum soups, Satay, the fresh salad, and the dishes with basil sauce or chili sauce. The massaman is quite good (for Florida). I have not tried the green, red or yellow curries but on my next trip I will.
One final caveat - I am rating based on comparable restaurants in North Florida. I would drop one star if rating against the best Thai places I have eaten in on the west coast. -

Phenomenal, reliable. This was the restaurant that first made me fall in love with Thai food. Beautiful decor, perfect food, fair prices, and very nice owners and staff. And, it's open till 10 or 11 every night! If you're hungry for Thai in Ocala, this is definitely the place to be.

The service and the decor are nice, but the food leaves more to your imagination than you'd like. I had a bland wonton soup followed by a bland Pad Thai (served without limes, negative points from me!). The dumpling appetizer was pretty good, but I was shocked they didn't have rangoon on the menu. Overall, the menu was smaller than most Thai places.

I have eaten at Ayuttaya for a few years and every time I go it is always a delight. I always order my food spicy. The coconut soup is great. Lunch is reasonable and the decor is nice. Always consistent. Will continue.

Very nice decor, wait staff and food prep...we will return. Negatives include their location in a long-since defunct strip mall was very poor (with a question of security in the evening). Prices are about 25-30% higher than other Thai restaurants in the area...
