4 reviews for Ayres Suites of Yorba Linda
We stayed here on December 23rd and 24th. Check-in and check-out were easy and the staff was friendly. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, though my wife thought the bed was too soft. The room included breakfast and it was decent - I liked the fresh waffles.
We've stayed in this chain several times and you can count on them to deliver a consistent level of service and quality.
The decor of these hotels is the only gripe I have with them. While I wouldn't go as far as the first reviewer and say they look haunted, I will say they put too much effort creating the illusion of an upscale hotel that looks and feels more like a cheap movie set. Basically this is a Comfort Inn that has been Disneyfied with the cheapest Home Depot materials and furnished with mass-made replicas from Cost Plus.

Kind of a drive off the freeway with a few chain restaurants close by. Gym was half the size of a room and something about the hotel really creeped me out. I was reminded of The Shining and was waiting for the little pale girl to be on the other end of the hallway. The paintings on the walls didnt help and my room felt bare. Too bare that it seemed like I wasn't the only person in my room.
Well, I've finally reached the point in my life where you need to stay in a hotel in the city you grew up in. When it comes to Yorba Linda, it's the ONLY hotel. For my inaugural visit, my mother and I spent a few nights in YL. The hotel is actually pretty nice. It has more class than your average Hyatt etc and the service is decent. The beds were comfy and I liked that our double queen bedroom had 3 seating options(Bed, Loungy Chair, Desk Chair). Breakfast is icky. Well, I think it's icky. I didn't eat it because I couldn't get past the institutional setting in which it's served. It felt like the cafeteria in a hospital and the look of the food reminded me of such. Even though it's free, we decided Mimi's would be a better dining option. If you're in town and you need a spot to stay, Ayres will do.
I hate to review about a hotel when you didn't stay at least one night. However, my first impression was very chilliing and hair raising. As in: I just saw a horror movie and i'm really scared of the dark right now feeling. In this case, I had checked in at 2:00am and checked out 2:10am. The paintings down the hallway did not help either. Somehow i'm very uncomfortable about following eyes.
I was given a first floor corner room (handicap room) that very much resembled and smelled like a funeral home. The scent, decor, furniture, and the bathroom reminded me of the Winchester Mystery House. As my buddy Chris strongly stated, "dude.. its just missing a casket!" The hair in the back of my neck stood up along with the chills.... and I said, "I'm not feeling this.... I'M OUT!". Thank God Chris did not cut out after dropping me off. I meet with the hotel agent and he was very helpful and understanding. He told me to follow up on Monday to make sure the hotel does not charge my credit card.
Today, I followed up with hotel and they did not charge me. I re-explained my feelings and they were very understanding.
So how do I rate this: One star for the customer service on the morning of the event (in addition the lobby and the room was very neat and clean). One star for the customer service over the phone at the time of booking and making sure they didn't charge my credit card.
In all I would have to say, kinda creepy. Here's what I also found on the web about this hotel. You make the final call when you stay here:
