Unless you're gonna stay in Downtown LB, the whole LB/Seal Beach area is severely lacking in hotels where visiting moms can stay. Luckily, Ayres is here to fill that void. Visiting moms everywhere rejoice. Especially visiting moms who want to be somewhat near the beach, are afraid of downtown LB, and want a good deal.

Ayres hits all points on the head. Plus, the over-the-top "We're totally walking the line between European chic/gaudy" suits my mom just fine. (And, I wouldn't tell my mom this because she was going on and on about how nice it was...but it really does lean more toward the gaudy...lots of gold-colored things and ridiculous carpet.)

In any case, Whenever my mom's stayed here the rates have hovered around $130 and include a pretty stellar continental breakfast, super comfy beds, and a staff that doesn't seem to mind my mom's mooching kids comin' around for a free conti breakfast.

Well first I have to say that I was rather surprised by this hotel.  I was definitely expecting it to be more like a motel 6, but I would call it Holiday Inn status.  The staff was friendly, and the rooms were some-what clean.... I happened to spill water all over the bathroom floor, and when I used one of the white bathroom towels to wipe it up, the towel was filthy... but hey, maybe that's common.  Can't say I've ever had to do that to a hotel bathroom floor.

They have a nice heated pool, a hot tub, fitness room (who really works out on vacation?) and a free breakfast.  Breakfast is mediocre at best, but really??  It's free!  The grounds are nice, and there is a good amount of food within walking distance.

My two biggest complaints:  It's RIGHT next to the freeway.. Maybe that's convenient for some, but really it was annoying for us.  It's also on a main thorough-fair for ALL long beach/seal beach emergency vehicles, so expect noise from that.  Secondly, we returned to our room on Saturday afternoon at 2pm, and the room service still hadn't come.  I needed to nap before I attended my families' party at "Leisure World"  across the highway, and my husband called down to ask that room service not come until after 3pm.  He left, I turned off the lights, and no sooner than five minutes later, I had someone trying to get into my room.... I had to get up, put some clothes on, and try to get to the door.  By the time I got there, the maid had given up and left..... irritating, since I only had an hour to nap.

Overall decent place, but next time I have to go to a family reunion down there, I think I'll stay someone outside of the long beach/seal beach area, and just drive over.

The one thing i like best about this chain, they will always honor the lowest price that you paid in the past.
I was lucky enough to get a really good rate my first time here, now every time i stay they give me that same rate, even if its when i just walk in at 2:30 am ,half drunk (is that possible?) cause my gf  is feeling a little heated and home holds no adventure factor...Hubba Hubba!
Rooms are always warm and inviting, nicely decorated, nice bedding, and the stonetile bathroom with glass shower really sets the mood with only candles for lighting...bring your own candles.
I have spent much more on rooms not half as nice.

Just like my experience at the Mission Viejo location, this location did not dissapoint.

Although it's right off the freeway and a bit difficult to get to when you are coming west bound, it's a beautiful place to stay.  The pool is perfect and just the right temperature even when the sun is going down and it's completely shaded.

The staff is lovely and always eager to be of assistance.  I would definitely recommend it as a place for my friends to stay when in the area.

Last night I had the opportunity to stay at the Ayres Hotel right off the 405, the third location I've stayed at in this chain predominantly located in the LA area.  The room was beautifully appointed with a gorgeous comfortable bed with high end linens, a fully stone tiled bathroom, classy furniture, and had quiet functional climate control.   I slept like a lamb.

The room was a suite divided by plantation shutters into a sleeping area and a living area overlooking the turquoise pool.  It was far nicer than similar rooms in hotels in the same class (ie. Marriott Residence Inn, Homestead Suites) and the price was right.  While searching for rooms last night we found much more expensive rooms in properties not nearly as nice.

The complimentary breakfast looked satisfying, but  there wasn't nearly enough seating for everyone taking advantage of this amenity.  Also, the TV was a little on the outdated small size given the otherwise luxurious feeling of the room.    A flat screen would have been the icing on the cake.  The complimentary toiletries were plentiful and smelled nice.

The Ayers Hotel is conveniently located to anything you might want to see from Huntington to Long Beach.  Freeway access is easy and close by.  If I ever need a hotel room in this area, I will totally keep this property in mind.

When I travel on business, we always stay at this location for our Long Beach location. I love this place, it is nice and the bed's are very comfortable - they have good beddings. They have a happy hour with beer and wine and snacks. The breakfast is a full breakfast. The only thing that made me upset was one I stayed and forgot some shoes in the closet. I called them to try and retrieve my shoes and they stated they did not find anything. I was a little upset about this.

This hotel was much more than I expected. My mother and I stayed in the double queen extended room on the ground floor. The room was gorgeous and really spacious. Everything was beautifully decorated and the beds were extremely comfortable. We had a sliding glass door to a small patio and there was a fountain right outside of our room. There was a pool and jacuzzi but we didn't have time to check it out. The have a complimentary continental breakfast that included ham, pancakes, toast, english muffins, cereal, milk, and a variety of juices. The location of this particular Ayres is great. There are a lot of shops and restaurants located nearby. Just a two minute walk will take you to a small shopping center that has Baja Fresh, Hot Off the Grill, a spa, AT&T, and Wells Fargo.

If I ever have to stay in this area again I would stay at the Ayres. It was affordable, comfortable, convenient and beautful!

I agree with most of the other positive comments - yet my exerience differed by a couple of negatives. Surprisingly, though the room was quite nicely appointed, the carpet had numerous stains and the tiled entrance way was tacky. The day after checking out I discoved that I had left all my clean socks, underwear, and t-shirts in the drawers - these are easily replaced and not costly, but they could have least contacted me. Overall, it is better than many but with unexpected flaws.

Another Ayres location makes its way onto my reviews. I didn't stay at this location recently. It was about two years ago that I stayed here for a couple of night on two separate occassions. Both stays were very consistent. First stay was in the King Suite. Second stay was in the Double Queen extended Suite.

Consistent. That is the word that keeps coming to mind whenever I think of the Ayres chain. Quality, pricing, cleanliness, service, comfort, amenities.

King Suite was as usual. King Bed, comfortable bedding. Leather couch, coffee table, sitting table, work table. Air conditioning. Cable TV. Coffee maker, refridgerator, microwave. Soaking tub with 4-setting shower head.

Double Queen Extended Suite was as expected. Larger room with semi-divider between bed and sitting area. Same as King Suite but more square footage and room separator.

Breakfast here was standard. Same as the evening refreshments and snacks. Free paper everyday. Friendly service. The lobby looks a bit different here than the other Ayres. Smaller and with slightly more decorations.

I don't think there's a pool at this particular Ayres. I failed to check on both visits.

Great business hotel. Great price. Great value.

Pretty good place... We were upgraded because they ran out of King beds.  So, we got one of the nicer rooms.  Instead of putting us in a queen.  They did this without a peep.  I didn't even suggest it... just said "oh, I was told we'd have a king"  Awesome!  glad they were all out of those "Normal" rooms.  Our room was pretty cool.  Small old school TV though.  and The shower head kinda sucked.
