Good value for what it is.  I stayed here last weekend in a mini-suite and it was $109 - a steal considering the spacious room, great location, free parking, a shuttle service, FREE breakfast (!!) kinda like Embassy Suites.  Like Holly said - breakfast was nothing to write home about - but come on, it's free!

Maneuvering on Chapman to/from the hotel is problematic - I think I broke a few laws driving!  Close to I-5, yet with very quiet rooms.  Surprisingly nice lobby.  I forgot my toothbrush, and the front desk very graciously brought a complimentary one up for me.  I'll def stay here again, if I'm in the area.

Not a bad choice for a hotel. I have to admit, I was totally wrong about the Ayres. No offense, but driving by them in OC they just looked kind of cheap, and I assumed they were in the low-mid price range. In fact, this hotel was quite nice, although not nice enough to justify the price, in my opinion, but for this area I guess it's still an OK deal. I was quite surprised that a room here cost the same as the Doubletree across the street, although the Doubletree looks much more luxurious. Actually I was originally planning on staying at the Doubletree but did a double take when I saw the Doubletree charged $10/night for parking; for one car I might have paid, but not for the two cars we happened to have this evening.

This hotel is all about location, location, location. It's within walking distance of The Block and UCI Medical Center, and within a few miles of Angel Stadium, Anaheim Convention Center, the Crystal Cathedral, and some place called Disneyland. It's a shame that proximity to tourist attractions makes such a difference in price when you're just a local who needs to stay in the area on business, but what can you do. It was important that we got a good night's sleep so I didn't want to take a chance on some of the cheaper motels in the area and risk a bed too hard to sleep on.

The Ayres is trying to create a "European boutique hotel" experience. I did think that the lobby area was quite nice and welcoming, complete with the fireplace and cookies and coffee at the reception desk. However, having stayed at European boutique hotels, I don't think it's quite the same, but that's neither here nor there. The elevator was lined with wood and mirrored panels, giving off a fancy effect, but to be honest, I suspect that it's more style than substance. The hallways were not at all pleasant, complete with peeling plaster. But once we were safely in our room, the illusion of poshiosity (to use a Louise Rennison word) returned. We had a nice faux leather couch and poster bed, and the bed was fairly comfortable.

Not much of a selection of cable stations, and unfortunately there is NO wireless Internet (yet; they said it would be coming next month), and the wired Internet was NOT free. Downstairs there was a single PC and printer that could be used for Internet access, printing out boarding passes & photos, etc., and that also was NOT free.

Here's what WAS free: parking(!), and breakfast. And I actually have to give props to the fact that they provide a free FULL breakfast, including eggs, pancakes, sausage, fruit, etc., in addition to coffee cake, bagels, and cereal. Not that it was the greatest, but it still beats a so-called continental breakfast any day.

They also have a pool, fitness room, and laundry facility, but I did not get to try any of these so I cannot comment on them other than to say they exist. Also, they have a shuttle service to that Disney place and I'm not sure where else; inquire with the hotel for details. FYI there is also a Starbucks and a Best Buy next door.

One more thing about this area: There are "No U-Turn" signs at all the intersections, which is very inconvenient if you get turned around, but BEWARE, there are cops everywhere! I almost made an illegal u-turn but thought better of it, and thank goodness, because when I finally got turned back around I saw the motorcycle cop parked in a hidden spot in front of the hotel where he totally would have nabbed me. I saw him catch at least 3 other people all within about a 15-minute time span.

The best pet friendly hotel in the area. When I planned a vacation to Disneyland I was looking for a pet friendly hotel in the area. A majority of the hotels had weight limits up to 35-40 pounds and had high extra fees. I found one that would accept 80 pound dogs but for an extra fee of $150 (that cost more than the room). I have a 120 pound bullmastiff so none of these would work. I was about to give up hope until I found this hotel. This hotel has a flat pet fee of $45 no matter how many days you are there and no matter the size of the pet. They have special pet friendly rooms (that you have to mention you want when making the reservation). This room comes with a pet bed, bowl, poop bags, and biscuits all included. The room was big enough to set up our travel play pen (just had to move a table to the side). The most suprising part was how clean the room was. It did not smell as if a pet was even in there. The rest of the ammenities of the room met all the human needs and the bed felt like a giant pillow. Outside of the hotel they have a nice pet walk area in the back of the hotel and nice grass areas for the pets to do their business.  The staff (Julio) was very patient with my 50 phone calls prior to booking the room with questions. It is only one exit away from Disneyland. I rated this hotel highly because the overall experience was great and very pet friendly. Bottomline: If you have a huge dog, stay here.

This is on par with the rest of the Ayres collection. I've stayed at several of the locations and this is pretty much what one would expect from the Ayres hotels.

CONSISTENCY

Without fail, each of the 5 different Ayres I've stayed in has continued to show me that the family puts a great deal of attention to maintaining a certain feel and atmosphere in all their Suites, Hotels, and Inns.

King Bed with a firm mattress.
Large Leather sofa.
Work Table with sitting chairs.
Cable television.
Clean and spacious room. Refrigerator (no microwave in this one).
Coffee Maker and full amenities.

As always, complimentary evening refreshments and morning buffet. Nothing special but good enough for a free meal and to get the day goin.

Shuttle service to local attractions (The Block, Disneyland, etc.) was a plus but I was here for an early morning meeting so I didn't visit any fun spots.

Very reasonable in pricing, as with all the Ayres hotels. $119 after taxes and fees for a King suite. The pricing here is a bit lower than the rest of the Ayres though I'm not quite sure why. You get everything here that you would at any other location and quality is not compromised.

I recently was on vacation in Orange County and stayed at Ayres.  I found the experience to be a positive one.  The hotel room was cleaned and smoke-free.  It was quiet and the staff were friendly.

The hotel has a nice swimming pool and fitness center.  They also provided a shuttle to Disneyland...a definite plus!

The continental breakfast was okay....if you want breakfast, just be sure to get there before 9AM.  The staff will start cleaning up promptly at 9AM.
