Review from Jacqui C.
San Bruno, CA
True to the glowing reviews here, Hotel Ayres will give guests an experience they will love and the ultimate value for their dollars. It is not luxurious nor as large as any of the hotels inside Disneyland, but it deserves a five-star rating and glowing reviews.
The rooms were immaculately clean - that was the clincher for me. The beds were very comfortable. My husband and I would usually toss and turn on the first night of every vacation - in any hotel we go to - while the kids sleep like logs. At the Ayres, we didn't have that problem.
The free breakfast with generous servings of eggs, hash brown, sausages, and bacon was satisfying enough to fuel us for our days in Disneyland. They also have fruits, oatmeal, cereal, juices, muffins, bread and bagel- we even took an apple and muffins for the trip home.
I particularly appreciate the front desk staff - both when we checked in after 7 hours on the road and when we checked out. They were very helpful and friendly.
We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to friends. (Stayed December 2009) -

I'd give them a 4 star, but we had a problem created by a lie on their part and their management just ignored my request to correct the problem.
We decided spur of the moment to stay in a hotel near Disneyland on a Friday night and then go to Disney on Saturday. The one thing we asked each hotel was if they had a Jacuzzi. We really wanted to take a Jacuzzi. Most hotels, including Ayres had hours imposed, and we would be too late. But the Ayres clerk assured us we could Jacuzzi in the morning.
In the morning, we got all ready and went down to the pool area. The spa was just cooler than luke warm. We asked the desk manager what happened and she said the maintenance guy had a part to install. The spa would work by the evening.
Well, if there was a part ordered, then they should have told us before we agreed to stay there. They took nothing off our bill. Tricksters. -

For the price, this is a fairly mediocre hotel. The rooms are a decent size, the location is good for visiting many sights in Orange County. However, the hotel is extremely outdated.....if you're used to traveling a lot and staying at the larger hotel chains -- Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, etc. you're going to be disappointed.
The hair dryers are vintage 1980's - on the wall, teeny tiny, with very little heat capacity. Use it for more than 5 minutes and the overheating monitor overrides it and shuts it down. It won't turn on again for at least 5-10 minutes. The AC/heating unit is a wall/floor unit and blows dusty air directly at the desk and the bed closest to the window. The windows do open, however, the freeway noise will prohibit you from doing that. The TV does not have an option for movies, and apparently isn't hooked up to satellite TV as the reception on the stations it does receive is spotty at best.
The free breakfast is typical of the Ayres chains; more than adequate, fresh food and one or two made to order hot entrees.Comment from Matt H. of Ayres Hotel 3/27/2012

Truely a GREAT hotel, we stayed at this hotel because it was close to Anaheim Angels Stadium. The room was VERY nice and the bed I wanted to take home with me. The only down fall was the "Happy Hour" not well stocked at all for a hotel this size and for a 2 hour "Happy Hour" the beer was gone in 10 min when I asked the girl at the front desk (Jessica) if there was anymore Budlight she said no without even looking. They ended up finding some but it was WARM... I'm not a fan of warm beer! Sorry!! I suggest taking your own refreshments for the Happy Hour. The breakfast in the morning was also GREAT and the pancakes are better then most resturants. Overall a great hotel for the price and location.

The Ayres Hotel is now my goto hotel for Anaheim. The rates were very reasonable & you get more value for your money. The hotel is very clean. The staff is very friendly. It's located in a safe neighborhood & is convenient to Anaheim area attractions. There's ample parking & it's well lit. It's next door to a really good restaurant. Their continental breakfast was more than I expected complete with a hot bar with eggs, sausage, & a chef/cook making omelettes. There's plenty of seating in the breakfast area. The room was very comfy. The lights are controlled by placing your keycard in a slot in the room so your lights & the TV turn off when you leave & turn back on when you come back. The studio room with a king bed was very spacious. Whenever I have an overnight stay in Anaheim, I'm going to try to get back in this hotel.

Loved this hotel! Just got home from 2 nights stay here. We chose this as our hotel for a Disneyland weekend, very close & affordable. For those sports lovers out there, its a block away from Anaheim Stadium and this was opening game so I was blinded by red sports jersey's. The hotel is very clean, decorated in an renaissance 18th century feel. Rooms were very comfortable and nice size too. We enjoyed the jacuzzi in the evening and for breakfast they have a free buffet. Not your basic continental breakfast instead fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, bagels, coffee, juices and more. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

If you're going to the Honda Center for anything at all this is the place to stay. Is it the greatest hotel in the history of the world? No. It is, however, quite nice for the price and directly across the street from the Honda Center. No parking hassle, no worry about driving all the way back to SD until morning, no hassle, and a free breakfast.
The room was nice, maybe a little too "old world-y" for me, but I commented that my mom would love the paintings on the walls. The bed was comfy, and the hallways were clean. The staff was all very friendly and helpful.
Totaly A-Ok in my book, and I plan on returning the next time I head to the Honda Center. [If you're going to other Anaheim attractions as well, they have a free shuttle to Disneyland, and Angel's stadium is also walking distance if you don't mind hiking through the parking lot/business area.]Listed in: Stay-cation

This is a lovely hotel. We stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday while we visited Disneyland. It's conveniently located...just a few blocks with free parking. I spent a good amount of time researching hotels prior to booking and I'm very happy with my decision. A lot of the hotels located directly across from Disneyland a) looked dirty, b) charged for parking, and c) were more expensive than the Ayres Hotel.
Our room was impeccably clean, and quiet. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. They do offer a nice buffet breakfast with an assortment of warm food. Not the usual pastries, bagels, etc. They actually serve eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc. My husband loved it!
We're already planning our next trip to Disneyland and will definitely be staying at the Ayres Hotel again! -

We stayed at the Ayes Hotel in Loma Linda and Anaheim. Both places were very clean, the employes were friendly and very helpful. The buffet breakfast is definitely a plus. A great deal for the money. Will definitely look into staying at another Ayres location in my travels.

We stayed at the Ayres Hotel Jan 2012 and it was marvelous. the room was spacious and clean. The registration process was smooth and the staff was polite and professional. The hotel is conveniently located directly off the freeway and it is close to retail shopping. I would recommend that everyone visiting Anaheim should stay at the Ayres Hotel

This is my go to Hotel whenever I stay in Anaheim to catch an Angel's game. It is some type of fancy "boutique" hotel that seems to cater to the business traveler. The location is right down the street from Disney but I rarely see packs of kids running about here!!
With so many hotels in this area, you may ask what is so special about the Ayres Hotel on Katella. Well I hope it stays a well kept secret, but this hotel is a short (Under the overpass)5 minute walk to Angel's Stadium!! I believe that it is the only hotel that can boast that.
Top that off with free parking, wifi, and a hot breakfast, what's not to like!! You don't have to worry about that feeling you get towards the end of the game about being trapped in the parking lot for hours!! Drunk by the ninth inning, who cares, I'm walking to the my hotel!!
A few minutes later back in your hotel room, you have a wet-bar and fridge in your room!! You can sit back and watch for hours as the cars proceed past your room leaving the stadium!! And by the way, The Honda Center is on the other side of Katella, although I'm not a Hockey Fan!!
The one draw back is that the hotel is small and will sell out if the Yankee's or Red Sox's (or last years All-star Game)are playing the Angel's. Don't forget to ask for your Yelp discount!! -

Stayed for 3 nights to go to the D23 Expo and Disneyland. After doing a lot of research on hotels in the are this place was the best deal by far. FREE parking, FREE wifi, and FREE hot breakfast. I love free! There was ample parking, the wifi worked great, and the break fast was great (eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes)! Personally, I think it's ridiculous to have to pay for parking at hotels.
The room had plenty of space and the mini kitchen came in handy, mainly the mini fridge. The hot tub was ok, water wasn't nearly hot enough. It was more like a warm tub. har har
We had a car so it was pretty convenient to get around to the parks and expo as well as Garden Grove for some good eats. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit the happiest place on earth. FYI, if you don't book in advance and just walk in, check in on yelp and you can get a great deal at $99.99/ night. I wouldn't risk this on the busy season though.Comment from Marcus C. of Ayres Hotel 9/12/2011

Review from Alison V.
Let me start by saying I am an experienced traveler, so even before I take my luggage into the room, I do a thorough visual inspection first. All of the bedding is pulled off, furniture is moved, every corner is checked. They passed my test.
Of the dozen or so visits to Disneyland over the past decade, I have stayed at many different Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Orange hotels. While this hotel is one of the most inconvenient in the area for getting to Disneyland, it's other features make up for the location.
The room:
Cleanliness is my #1 concern, and they scored high here. My second concern is comfort. The bed was nice. We were on the top floor and the area above the bed is actually two stories. The shower was also very nice. There is an in-room mini fridge and microwave as well. One of my favorite features is the energy conservation. Your room key controlls the lights and A/C. So, when you leave the room during the day, precious resources are not being squandered. Can you imagine the energy and cost savings over the course of a year? Bravo (imagine a slow, dramatic clapping noise).
The free breakfast:
There is a cook who scoops out pre-made items from warming bins (potatoes, eggs, sausage, etc.), and depending on the day, pancakes or french toast were made to order. There was also muffins, a make-your-own toast/bagel station, cereal, and whole apples. Drinks included coffee, tea, juice, and milk. The pancakes were great.
The parking:
No problem with parking. Each time we went out, we got a nice spot when we returned.
Shuttle to Disney:
You have to take the city-run ART (Anaheim Resort Transit). We left on the first shuttle in the morning and returned on the second to the last shuttle at night, and it worked out perfectly. They leave the hotel once every 60 minutes. We only made one stop on the way to Disney. After 8pm, it left Disneyland twice per hour, there are two different routes at that point. On the way back, there was only one stop as well. The cost was $4 RT per adult and was extremely convenient.
Staff:
Very friendly and helpful. They had warm cranberry oatmeal and sugar cookies waiting at check-in.
There were a few minor flaws, such as bad flooring installation throughout that looked awful and a strange wine barrel smell in the elevator, but they are so few that this place still deserves a 5-star rating. -

By far the best hotel I've ever stayed at! The wife and I came here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, staff and rooms are 5 star service! After a local dinner, we came back to our room only to find a complementary bottle of Moscato, chocolates, and a personally signed card from the GM Marcus, staff Dee, "Happy 10th!" We are forever a loyal customer!

Excellent "boutique hotel" that included FREE Parking and FREE Breakfast (bacon or sausage on alternating days, eggs, potatoes, pancakes, toast, cereal, fresh fruit, danish, etc...) which opens at 6am. Paid $96 @ night (Wed/Thurs) for double queen bed room.
Spacious and lovely decorated room. Mini fridge & microwave oven. Work area and a table with 2 elegant chairs.
Very quiet! Mostly business travelers were staying here during our visit. I actually found this to be a nice plus, because there weren't as many families with lots of screaming little kids running around (as you might see when you stay at a hotel closer to Disneyland).
Stayed on the 1st floor facing the freeway - very quiet. Easy access to load and unload my car. Plenty of parking in a well-lit lot.
Small work-out room on the 1st floor.
Very friendly and efficient staff.
Very clean and comfy! Beds and pillows were comfortable.
Shuttle that runs to a from Disney (the ART?) for a fee - we chose to drive over to the park because it was cheaper with 4 people.
There really aren't any little restaurants or fast-food places next door within walking distance (without having to cross the traffic getting onto the freeway on ramps), although I think there was a doughnut/coffee shop in the little row of shops just east of the hotel - across the (side) street.
Downtown historic Orange is a few miles southeast of here, if you want to walk around to see all of the little boutique shops, adorable cottage homes, antique stores, famous cupcake shop, and a waffle sandwich place, etc...
Disneyland is NOT within walking distance, it is several miles away. A car or shuttle is recommended.
I would stay here again! Ayres was FANTASTIC and met all of my expectations! -

You cannot go wrong with a stay at the Ayres Hotel Anaheim. After reading reviews on tripadvisor & getting a great price at the hotel website via tripadvisor, I was sold! I'm the kind of sort-of high maintenance type who likes the luxury at a great price (think Embassy Suites-type). I usually don't like to spend more than $100 so I know it can be a stretch for a great place to rest your head. Here's my pros/cons review of my two night stay - I hope this helps you!
PROs:
* complimentary yummy breakfast (everyday incl cereals, coffee, hot cocoa, juice, bagels, toast, pastries, fruits, yogurt and....on our first day there was scrambled eggs, hash browns, brown sausage, & french toast...on our second day there was scrambled eggs, diced & pan-fried potatoes, crispy bacon, & pancakes
* free COOKIES & drinks nightly (there were 3 kinds, but I really liked the oatmeal & choc chip)
* friendly staff
* spacious rooms (incl a separator between the bed and "living room" - there's a couch (converts to a bed if you need) and desk in the room)
* extremely comfortable beds (oh. my. goodness. just the right firmness with a little softness)
* huge tub (though check out my "cons" below)
* ART shuttle to/from Disneyland ($4 rt)
* FREE parking (woohoo!!)
* FREE wireless Internet connectivity (yay yay yay!!!)
* very quiet during our stay (lots of business travelers when I stayed, but still no noise whatsoever from the hallway or the street)
* microwave, coffee maker, fridge (wonderful!!!)
* beautiful decor
CONs:
* towels were a little stiff
* water pressure in the shower is so-so (sorry I'm a shower pressure snob)
* hair dryer is a typical hotel one (brought my own)
* they've stuffed as many tables & chairs in the dining room (not too much of a con, but just thought I'd mention it)
* there was no curtain to stop the morning sun from waking me up
* I wanted to soak my feet so I filled the tub a third of the way and there was what looked like soap scum floating around so that kind of grossed me out a little
As you can see the "cons" are minimal and you can survive with them. I think there is also a evening hour of cocktails and snacks, but we were at Disneyland so didn't have a chance to check that out. Staying at the Ayres is honestly one of the best stays I've ever had in Anaheim. Even though it's a bit far off the beaten "Disneyland-path," I HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

This place really is accomodating,
I came to LA on a business trip, and called last minute to schedule a room, The hostess was quite hospitable, and i found the room to be above average. Nice soft sheets too, they feel like 350 thread count. not the best place in the world, but a damn good value.
within walking distance to alot of places, Honda center, Angels stadium, and easy directions on and off the freeway. -

The family and I stayed here for 3 nights for a Disneyland vacation. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the room, the friendly staff, the free parking, the free wi-fi, and the free daily breakfast. The rooms are nicely decorated and have a mini fridge and microwave oven. The hotel is 2 miles from Disneyland. There is a shuttle service for a small fee ($4 per adult/day and $1 per child/day). There are plenty of restaurants along Katella that are not too far from the hotel. The location did not bother us one bit. It is across the street from the Honda Center and not too far from Angel's Stadium.
We paid $119 per night (Tue, Wed, Thur). It was worth it! We would definitely stay here again. -

What a great place this was. Very clean and the beds were comfortable. Liked the ceiling fan so we didn't have to run the A/C all night.
We reported an issue with the spa and they had it fixed within 1/2 hour, amazing service!
We found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful during our stay. It was nice to have a hot breakfast each morning before heading out to a day at Disneyland.
Being 2 miles from Disneyland was far enough to be out of hustle and bustle but close enough to get there in a timey manner. If you don't want to drive they ART (local shuttle) stops right at the hotel's front door once an hour.
We will be back! -
Review from Raquel R.
The good: clean, comfy, great service
The bad: $150 for one night
The ugly: Kinda far from D-land
Um lets start with the bed. SO amazingly comfortable. I was like in a drug induced coma on that bed- AMAZING.
The Front desk was so helpful. So so so helpful. I just wanted to hug the red haired lady because she was just so nice.
The breakfast was a little strange. I stumbled in from my coma at like 9:50 and precede to get a bagel. The bagel machine is broken or something because only half of it came out. It's a half bagel stealin machine. Oh and I could not get the milk to pour out of the high tech pourer!!! I blame technology and just wakin up (of I could be just a little bit dumb) but seriously! No milk. So I drank my coffee with an ass load of sugar. meh.
I did not like the tram/bus thing that takes you to the park. It was loud and late and took forever. We ended up having to wait like 45 minutes whenever we used it. That does not include the actual driving time to d-land. So... no tram. I would rather park.
Back to the hotel though: I didn't hear any screaming children or loud guests in my little bungalow of a room. I didn't have stomping above me and I totally felt okay leaving my car in the parking lot. One thing though is that there are no places nearby to get snacks. I was craving some donuts and cookies when we got back from d-land and there were no close gas stations or supermarkets. But that is not the hotels fault.
All in all I would stay here again in a heartbeat!Comment from Marcus C. of Ayres Hotel 8/17/2011

This is an awesome hotel. OK, a bit about me. I am thoroughly grossed out by the idea of sleeping in other people's beds. This probably prevents me from traveling more, but if every hotel was like Ayres in Anaheim, I would be okay with traveling everywhere.
Our room was so CLEAN! The sheets were immaculate, the carpet didn't have weird stains on it, the bathroom was kept up well. I felt really comfortable here.
They offer free wifi, free parking, and free HOT breakfasts (eggs, pancakes...) Our rooms were pretty well insulated, we could not hear neighbors nor traffic. The microwave was nice too. And, only 2 miles from Disneyland, but without the Disneyland crowds. Awesome!!! Did I mention the rate? The rate we got was SO inexpensive for the quality of these rooms. The whole weekend, my husband and I were chanting, "what a good bargain!" Anytime I'm in Anaheim, I am at this hotel. -

The good?
Location. Access. Pleasant staff. Fair price. Place looks fairly clean and modern. 3.5 stars in regards to luxury.
Bed was fine, as were pillows.
Breakfast is served at 6:00am. Nice. Many places are later and that sucks if you have an early day planned.
The not-good?
The room was very musty smelling... sort of a bad cleaning product odor.
Minor point was that the tile grout in the bathroom was dirty. Shower had pretty low pressure, but eventually got the job done. A little noisy in that I could hear the neighbors easily. All of these were minor except the room smell... which if there was no room smell, this would be 5 stars.
The really good? The breakfast in the morning. Free but also cooked well with good sausages.Comment from Marcus C. of Ayres Hotel 4/6/2011

My first time going to Disneyland after seven years and it was awesome. I got to finish an entire turkey leg. *nomnom*. anyways after our trip we decided to spend the night here at ayres after reading some yelp reviews. My friends and I were very satisfied for the weekend, although we couldn't get our lazy butts up for the free breakfast they served from 6am-10am. The beds were so comfortable, I swear I wanted to take it home with me, but that would be a serious crime.. D: Like the rest of the yelpers stated, everything was free, free wifi [ pretty slow], free selected t.v channels, free clean towels, free coffee, and breakfast. But, I really HATE the walls of these rooms, they were so hollow, I could hear footsteps, yelling, conversations, and babies crying. So, for those who sleep light like me, be sure to bring some plugs earphones or something. Another thing, you have to pay $, if you want to play your PS3, Wii, Xbox or any other game systems for a limit!
p.s I saved a lot of $$ on my trip to Disneyland. This hotel is great if your going to spend a few days going to D-land. Affordable and relaxing, its just a few blocks down. Plus, Amtrak comes every hr to pick up and drop of people at the angel's stadium and D-land.
SAVE GAS & PARKING FEES=WINWINWIN! (: -

This was a very nice hotel very close to Disneyland and I would definitely stay again. This was about half the cost (or more) of hotels across the street from Disneyland while being much nicer. Not only was it a nicer hotel but it had free parking (many of the places I looked at did not) and a free breakfast (pancakes, sausage, yogurt, eggs, cereal, etc.) and free wifi (all you have to do is put in your room number). For about $100 we got a huge room with a King sized bed. The decor is really lovely and it definitely felt upscale.
The drive to Disney was short and very simple, basically a straight shot.
I would highly recommend! -

As with all the other Ayres hotels I've visited, this was no different. There is much to be said for variety in hotel chains such as the Hyatt, but there is also much to be said for predictability and reliability.
The Ayres family of hotels offers weary travelers a VERY predictable hotel experience with little surprises. If you happen to travel a lot, you understand how valuable predictable hotels can be.
This location offers the usual evening's refreshments as well as the complimentary breakfast.
Rooms are large with pleasant designs from (more or less) northern France. There was the usual microwave and mini fridge along with the counter space and coffee machine. Always nice.
These are boutique hotels so for a few extra dollars a night, you'll have a nice room with plenty of space to roam around and complimentary food, drink, and morning paper.
Only downside to this location is that on the first night, there was no hot water.
I guess these things happen.Listed in: Hotels, Inns, Suites, and…

Review from Abi U.
We stayed here this past weekend during our trip to Disneyland. The service here is GREAT, and when I say GREAT I mean GREAAAATTTTT! Like most hotels the check in time was for 3pm. Booking the room I was concerned considering we wanted to spend a full 2 days at Disneyland and since we would be driving down from NorCal we would arrive around 9am... uhh no, I didn't want to go straight to Dland after a 6 hour car ride and not freshen up first. I called the Ayres and they let me know that they couldn't guarantee anything but to call when I was about 3 hours away.
I called when I was 3 hours away and they said they had been fully booked the night before but I was on a priority list. They said call back in an hour. At this point I'm a little worried but the person on the phone was very friendly and seemed like he was working as hard as he could to make things work. I called after an hour and they said my room was ready! YAY! I love an early check in!
The hotel was easy to find and the staff was all smiles, during all hours of the day! The room was way bigger than what I had expected, a lot of room to move around and extra floor space to put our shopping bags! The only complaint I had was that the temperature of the water in the shower was too cold for me. I had to turn it all the way to the left to get a warmer shower, nice, but not hot like I like. Roomy tub though! The room gets stuffier than most hotel rooms but for the most part it wasn't bad.
My favorite part: Complimentary Breakfast! we're not just talking muffins and cereal, they have bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, bagels, and a selection of juice.... FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!! you better believe we loaded up on everything before we went to the park.
All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Nothing crummy about it and it's definitely not a party hotel so there aren't any issues with the guests either! YAY! -

Love this hotel! Been here twice in the past few months when I've ventured down to Anaheim for their various theme parks, and the lady and I have mightily enjoyed ourselves. A bit of a boutique hotel, this place has cozy, big rooms at the rates of a much lower-quality place. You can almost always find a great deal, whether through AAA or their own promotions, and rooms are clean, energy-friendly (lights turn on via room keycard inserted into a slot), and cozy! We love the beds, the decor, and each room we've stayed in has come complete with TV, dresser, fridge, desk, a nice table, couch/coffee table, and bathroom with really nice tub. We also love that the sink is outside the bathroom, so one of us ladies can primp while the other uses the facilities. All in all, a great stay for the adult traveler, whether long or short-term. Staff is attentive and friendly!
The only star knock-off I have here is for the breakfast: while I do love the fact that they serve breakfast in the morning - with a TV showing the news for those of us who do like to enjoy the headlines - I find the food quality to be about on par with your average cafeteria. I guess that's pretty standard for hotel breakfasts, but I'd be happy with fewer cooks and slightly higher-quality food. That said, that's a real nitpick for me, as I'm not even a big breakfast eater, and there's certainly plenty of places nearby to grab a bite - hell, even Downtown Disney! - so do definitely check this place out! -

My family and I drove down to Disneyland and stayed at this awesome hotel!
Pros:
1) Cheap!
2) Free breakfast, and none of that toast and a bagel crap! Full on BREAKFAST!
3) Shuttle to Disneyland that runs often.
4) Good pool.
5) Great beds and comfy rooms.
The only con I can think of is how far it is from Disneyland. But really, this place is so nice and cozy, it didn't really matter. -

When I went to see Coldplay last year at the Honda Center, I knew I would be in such a supreme state of bliss, that I would be incapable of driving home. So I did a little searching and found the closet hotel to the concert site-and that was this Ayres Hotel-directly across the street!
And a wonderful hotel this is-they call it a "boutique hotel" and it is quaint and has a certain French flair to it. But the extra amenities are what truly sets it apart. I mean an excellent fitness center-small, but with all the necessary equipment. The breakfasts that all the other yelpers raved about are indeed good. I was expecting the usual cold cereal and bland bagels you get every where else. But here they have a real chef knocking out custom omelets and hash browns. There is real whole grain bread and pretty good coffee too.
On top of that-in the early evening there is also an Oh! So civilized hotel manager's "reception," which really translates into "free booze!" YES-it's true-for one hour between 5-6 p.m. you can drink your head off-there is red and white wine and beer too. No hard stuff but small snacks like pretzels and peanuts! Pretty snazzy!
I had to remain sober so I could be upright for my beloved Coldplay
The front desk is nice and let me borrow their laptop when some businessman was tying up their customer computer. I must say the front desk personnel were exceedingly pleasant and professional.
I did not have an opportunity to visit their on-site restaurant since J.T. Schmidts Sports Bar was across the driveway and beckoning to me with tales of delicious cobb salads, so off I went. It is very strategic to have this nice restaurant right next door with lots of T.V. screens going and loads of beautiful Orange County scensters hanging around too.
The rooms were nicely appointed, not necessarily PLUSH, but comfortable. I can honestly say that next time another big Rock Band rolls through there, I would not hesitate to come back. I felt that this Ayres Hotel did really value my patronage and for that-they have earned any repeat business I may offer then in this Orange County-hood! -

This place may be a nice place to stay, but I have to drop a turd on the pricing during the recent 2010 MLB All Star Week. This place wanted like 450 a night to stay here. Well we ended up getting a place on the other side of the stadium right across from the new Catch for like 179 a night. A 2-br suite. Yeah, the interior probably wasn't nice, but come on.. nearly $500, and at like a 5 day minimum.

I stayed at Ayres for one night and it was ALRIGHT - it wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad.
Pros:
1. We got a deal on the room for a king size bed studio for only $99 since it was a Yelp special. It was originially $139 or something like that.
2. It's close by Disneyland. It's only 15min. away! It's also located by the Honda Center and other fun areas.
3. The customer service was awesome. Everyone was very welcoming and the phone service was fantastic.
4. The complimentary breakfast was great. Bacon, eggs, and hash brown and fruit. The seating area was large and comfortable.
Cons:
1. The walls are really thin. We could hear people doin' the dirty (screams and pounding and all). You can also hear the housekeeping cleaning.
2. It's not a huge deal, but it would be nicer if they had more stuff for their customers. There was only 1 tiny bottle of shampoo, 1 bar of soap, 1 oatmeal soap bar, and 1 tiny bottle of lotion. Maybe a small bottle of toothpaste would be really helpful and convenient. They also sell $4.00 water bottles in the room. I've been in hotels where the water is complimentary - which would be a nice addition.
3. The TV sucked. It's one of the older chunky models - so the reception didn't come in good and there's only like 10 channels of Direct TV.
There's a lot of potiential for this hotel if they upgraded.Comment from Marcus C. of Ayres Hotel 5/12/2010

I was trying to find a hotel for our upcoming trip to Anaheim and nothing was seeming quite right. Everything was too big. Or too expensive. Or too cheap. A few looked ok until I read reviews from braver folks who had gone before me. When I stumbled across the Ayres Hotel, I knew I had found my place. I loved the idea of "European boutique hotel." The photos and listed amenities were all enticing. AND, when I read the almost universally glowing reviews on Yelp and some other travel web sites, I knew I'd made the right choice.
A few reviewers have noted the distance from Disneyland (about two miles) to be a negative, but, to us, this was actually a plus. We were only planning to visit Mickey two of the seven days we were in So California, so liked the idea of being close enough that Disney was just a short hop away on the days we were going, also but being away from the madness a bit on the days we weren't. The hotel has very easy access to I-5 (or "the 5," as they say in So Cal), which came in handy on the days we were day trippin'.
Our room was very spacious and comfortable. I love having a separate seating area. The small bar sink and microwave made it convenient for me to make my morning tea. And, I also hotels where the bathroom sink is outside the room where the shower is located; this makes it a lot easier for two folks to get ready at the same time. My husband, who usually only notices when something is not quite right, went on and on about how comfortable the bed was.
The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful. I really appreciated that they accommodated our request for a room on the top floor away from the elevator. (Though the room was amazingly quiet for being right off a pretty major road,)
As others have mentioned, a full, hot, breakfast was served up every morning. We loved that we could start our day with a full belly without having to take the time (and spend the money) on eating out every morning. And, the food was decent and the cheery folks who served it up were even better.
Two minor complaints: Very limited drawer space. We are two pretty light packers, so managed to get by, but I could see where a larger group or someone who travels with more "stuff" might have problems. Also, some mornings, it took several minutes for the water to get hot enough to shower. (But, once it did, it was a very toasty temp.)
But, as I said, those are minor. We definitely recommend this hotel, would return here again and will check out other Ayres properties should our travels take us to any such locations. -

For a 4 star hotel, this gets 5 stars rating from me. For the price, it's pretty much unmatched.
It's across from the Honda Center - about 2 miles from Disneyland. They don't have their own shuttle, but one comes every hour on the hour $4 per adult (unlimited trips) & $1 for children under 12.
The surroundings are nice. The beds are comfy. The bathrooms are pretty spacious. What I liked the most was the manager's reception (fresh baked cookies) where they ran out of non-alcoholic drinks so they let guests get a free drink out of the gift shop. Also, the breakfast is almost on par with Embassy Suites (without all the kids running around).
Decent pool & free parking.
The staff was nice too. I'm impressed with the Ayres. -

A business is only as strong as their weakest link.
I inadvertently left my cell phone charger plugged in to the wall, where I had unplugged the alarm clock. A phone call to the hotel the same day produced a promise that the executive housekeeper would return my call the next day. When I didn't hear from them, I called back the following day and asked them to physically check the room. I was told that the alarm clock was indeed plugged in but the charger had not been turned in. BOOOOO. -

We stayed here on the Disneyland leg of our trip. It's a little farther away from Disneyland than where we usually stay...but that's the nice part about it. The rooms are big and nice.
The best selling point is the breakfast! Not just a continental breakfast. They've got eggs and bacon and hashbrowns....YUM!
My only complaint? (And my daughter's too) was that the bathroom didn't smell too great. A little bit like urine. Not horrible. Just not great.
But I would definitely stay here again. -

I haven't stayed here yet - this is a review of the Yelp special offer mentioned at the top of this page, and the extremely friendly, helpful and courteous young man I spoke with when I called to enquire about it.
We're staying at the Ayres in November because of its proximity to Honda center.
Normal rate: $169 plus tax.
Yelp rate : $ 99 plus tax!
That deserves five stars in my book, and so does the young man I spoke with when I called.
