Chino Hills, CA
I love this place! It looks sketchy because it's a random house looking place in pomona, but once you go inside it's amazzziiiinnnnngggg! the ambiance is very relaxing with a little waterfall and a garden outside. it is a small cottage so it only accomadates up to 4 people at a time, but i've never had to wait. it's always good to call ahead. they have only 1 room that's private and the other room fits 3 others. as far as the massages go, you should know what you're getting into when you get a thai massage. you should also know how to communicate to your masseuse to best fit your needs. with that being said, i've had no problems with any masseuses that work there so far. i highly recommend it

Meh... Saw the reviews on Yelp, so I tried it out. It was okay, I prefer Swedish massages and Hot Stone Massages, Thai Massages were mainly all stretching the muscles with pressure. For the $45/person for 60 minutes I won't complain much, the staff was really friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing and calming. For a simple relaxation I may come again, but for a true massage I recommend else where.

This is the first time I've given a 3 star review. Usually my opinion is you like it or you don't, no in between. This place was just ok for me. I got a tiny lady so that was the biggest problem. She wasn't strong enough for me and I need a lot of even pressure. Sometimes her pressure would be hard but she was so tiny it felt like a sharp poke.
The place was really nice and clean. I liked the garden, it was peaceful looking.
My friend got a male masseuse and she said she really liked it. Since she was right next to me with just a curtain dividing us I could tell that her massage was going a lot better than mine. I'm kinda bummed that I didn't enjoy it more during the massage but my sore shoulders do feel better now that it's over. -

Such a hidden gem in Pomona. The place is quiet and tranquil, service is always nice and massage is even better! I know it's a good massage place when I can fall asleep during the session and I did. Definitely can't beat the price.

Amazing experience.
Thai massage is like doing yoga with a learned partner who will gently guide you through the poses and also expertly massage you as well. You leave feeling light and free of pain.
The atmosphere at this place is quite lovely: the outside is a tidy, bright garden with stone statues, a small oasis in the middle of a busy, rather common street. The inside of the establishment is clean, cool and utterly relaxing. If I could take a nap in the cozy massage areas I certainly would! After the massage I enjoyed a cup of jasmine tea. All is well in the world after a visit to Ayodhya. -

I got a massage here about 3 months ago after one of my friends recommended it to me.
I headed there straight after work (after a very long day actually). I remember I had to call my friend to make sure I was at the right place... the outside can be a bit deceiving.
After confirming I was at the right place, I went in and it was as if I was in a whole different world. Everyone was pleasant and polite, the massage itself was great. Highly recommend it! -
Review from Rachel Q.
Thai massage was definitely an interesting experience, especially if you are the kind of girl that's used to Burke Williams and all those Swedish massages..
This location looks like its in the middle of a residential neighborhood and looks like a house..
The massage room is one room broken up into three sections.. so your massage isn't necessarily private.. it's only separated by a curtain.. so it was a little disturbing that you can hear some of the others conversations with their massage therapist.. and you can hear the groans of satisfied customers.. I think I even heard a little toot come out too..
The massage was interesting.. it's interactive.. instead of lying there like a lump of flesh.. they pull and push and twist and step..
It's not "relaxing" in the sense that you can fall asleep in the middle of the massage.. but you know that all that tension will be pulled.. pushed.. twisted.. and stepped out of you.. and you leave rather relaxed..
I would recommend this place totally.. just be prepared in knowing this isn't Burke Williams in any sense.. but go..Listed in: Wandering and conquering.. oh…

Berkeley, CA
I really enjoy a great Thai massage. That said, I hardly EVER get mind-blowing Thai massages...except in S\an Francisco from someone named Paula (some amazing gymnastics), or from someone named Nak in Chiang Mai (who is blind and can find ALL spots and crack them -even between my tibia and fibula).
My friend treated me to a 1 hr massage. Was absolutely RAVING about this place. I now know why. The decor is FAB, and not overly done up. It is graceful and the fragrance of green jasmine tea hits the spot. The Feng Shui is done nicely as well and has a positive flow.
The outside of the place is also beautiful at night with wooden statues and a pretty cool (and functional) swing. Kind of what you would find on an expensive Asian veranda.
The inside is gorgeous. It really is. Nice and clean, but not hit-you-over-the-head minimalist either.
They had no idea if I was Thai or not. Hey, I look like the boy next door in most of Asia and Latin America. There were some newbies there, and I was talking to them. I lived in Thailand for a little while, so I was able to explain a lot of their questions away...while I was sitting comfortably on the floor -in a way that looks a bit Thai.
Some of the folks who work there noticed this, and made some comments -to which I slyly answered in Thai...but hey, I'm not Thai...and I had to say that early on. One of the comments had something to do with herbal tinctures, poultices and how to use them. ...the other was when I was first putting up my hair...they said something under their breath -and I gave them a sharp look because I understood the funny comment at my expense.
I pointed at the guy who I wanted to massage me. He wasn't available because his back was starting to hurt. LOL. I wonder why... maybe it was cuz he was a little cute...and I was sizing up his strength.
They gave me an older, friendly guy. Who DIDN'T give me enough pressure. I kept asking for it in Thai. He just didn't do it hard enough. At one point, about 25 minutes into the massage, I got frustrated and asked if I could show him. He tried harder. I told him to eventually use his elbows -on my palms. I told him to use his knees...but he had finished my back by the time it registered that I like it pretty deep.
It also didn't register to him just how I don't seem to have bones. I'm VERY flexible...and I don't require a warm up. He went about his routine -but I felt NOTHING. After a few of the same moves, I started to flex and stretch my legs myself. He sorta stumbled into me -he started to get the hint that my limbs go A LOT further.
It's funny how confusion and amazement register so quickly when someone gives me a massage. We both giggled quite a bit. He would (try to) put me in a stretch. And I would adjust myself and get another 30 or so degrees into the stretch. Especially with my hyper mobile toes, feet and ankles. (Somewhere on youtube is a vid of my feet opening a jar of pickles in Goatikin's community garden.)
I started to assist him in how I wanted a better massage. At the end, I asked him if he wanted me to give him a one minute massage. He quickly acquiesced.
He left the room so I could put my street clothes on. He had apparently run to the rest of the staff and my friend with the comment "HE KEPT ASKING HARDER AND HARDER!!"
I put my clothes on and gave him a full minute of stretching and simultaneous compression with my knees and elbows. I asked him a few times "Jep mai?" (does it hurt?) and he really enjoyed those 60 seconds. What he took 20 minutes to do to my body, I did in 30 seconds to his. I'm very effective, controlled and expedient with bodywork. (If you go through yelp, you'll find comments about me)
Then it REALLY dawned on him HOW MUCH BETTER I AM AT DOING THIS, and that the massage I received could have been much much better, faster, stronger. (Thank you Daft Punk). He could have worked out some of his own childhood trauma out on my back and I would have enjoyed it. He asked if we could exchange moves. Nah. I have to attend a reptile super show. I told him I don't live there and that I was visiting for only a day.
In any case, all of us had a good laugh. I told him if I ever meet him again, maybe I'll give him two minutes. Maybe.
I tried to tip him by shaking his hand. Apparently, that was his first time to get tipped within a handshake because he certainly didn't understand what I was doing. For me, that was precious.
-The one with more understanding has more responsibility...
I could've been an awful and mean client. But I understood the situation a lot better and tried to make it better as well.
The staff asked me for my card. LOL. We don't really have to get into it here.
Good space. Good people. Good massage. Good price. What else do you want???? -
Review from Taz A.

I was a little sketch when I saw the 909 metal gate surrounding this hole in the wall find but as soon as we stepped in through the door it was like walking into a different world. I had never had a Thai massage, but I had been having vertigo recently, and needed my energy to be circulated.
They first give you clothes to change into - loose pants and a loose shirt. FYI, the pants tie in the BACK, not the front. They really need instruction manuals. And then, you go in this curtained room, and the magic happens. And boy was it magical. I'm sitting sore to the core because they rocked my world. Stretching limbs, beating muscles. Pushing joints that I didn't think needed to be pushed.
I think I'm a little bit in love with the masseuse I had. Especially when he whispered if it felt good.
Don't worry, it's not a happy ending type of a massage place, despite the proximity to Holt. It was strictly PG - 10 and a half. It was definitely amazing and totally worth the $45/hour. And I haven't had a dizzy spell since. -

I've been going to this hidden treasure for 2 years now and have never had a bad experience. I've also gotten a lot of my friends and family hooked on this place. I'm sure the location may cause some to hesitate, but don't let that stop you! The inside is very clean and has a very relaxing vibe to it. The staff is very friendly and they know what their doing. Thai message is very different from your typical lay face down on a table massage. They massage your entire body along with various stretching techniques that are sure to have you walking out a new person. I'm surprised to see some of the complaints on here, but the key is to be open and let them know where your trouble spots are and how deep you'd like it to be. The price is definitely a steal, normally $45 for an hour and right now their doing a special for the holidays $39 for an hour. Try this place out, you won't regret it.

I got a chance to visit here and get an hour massage and it was wonderful. I had this lady named Manie and she was really accomodating. She was able to get rid of all the knots in my neck and shoulders. I loved it when she twisted my body to make my back crack. It was such a release.
This is truly a unique place. You will definately say what have I gotten myself into when you drive up but just park, go inside and give it a try. -

This place is really relaxing and clean. The lady that massaged me was great! She hit all the right spots. I was very relaxed and felt like taking a nap! They say you can walk in, but I recommend appointments. The clothes they make you put on are very clean(I smelled them and had the downey smell). Go try it out....:)

Review from Kasie L.
i did it. i walked into a random house - on indian hill blvd in pomona! - for a body massage. for those of you who don't know, indian hill goes from upscale in claremont to seedy in pomona in maybe .01 miles, and this was for sure in the seedier part. it was risky, but i was desperate. having danced ballet for 5 billion hours during the week and probably being a taaad bit out of shape prior, my muscles were tight and aching by sunday morning. so i was in the area, read your reviews, and decided to enter this little house.
and it really is a house. it's located in a residential neighborhood and, upon walking in, i found myself in someone's living room which had been converted into a waiting room with mats on the hardwood floor. the older lady brought me into the kitchen, where she showed me a list of the different massages and their rates. she then led me to the bathroom, handed me a set of old but clean clothes to change into, then, upon my exiting the bathroom, immediately beckoned me into this bedroom which had been separated by two lacy curtains into three massage areas. i think one huge bed took up the entire room, so in essence, i was sharing a bed with the other two patrons in the room, but i couldn't see them bc of the curtains. it was awkward, new to me, but i kept an open mind. plus, i felt slightly safer since the likelihood of being sexually assaulted diminished with other patrons right there.
air was my masseuse. there were various parts of the massage where she was literally right on top of me - both when i was face down and face up - and i was glad i chose a female over a male masseuse. no massage oils, just a soft scent of incense and thai/buddhist music in the background (not my cup of tea), but as she stepped and kneed and kneaded and pulled, i felt all the tension in my neck and shoulders and calves melt away.
i walked in barely able to move, nauseous, and skeptical that anyone could help me. an hour later, i walked out completely rejuvenated - feeling brand new - and happily endured another six hours of dance that day. she did it. i wouldn't go back because i just personally don't like the setting. in terms of skills, however, air has it.Listed in: Girly Maintenance

Fantastic all around. If you're a fan of deep tissue massage you owe it to yourself to try Ayodhya. The atmosphere is wonderfully soothing, the therapists talented (and strong!) and the massages are thorough, excellent, and a terrific value! If you're apprehensive about all the Thai massage contortions you'll get put through, being walked on, etc, you might try the East-meets-West massage the first time. I'm definitely adding an hour or two at Ayodhya to the itineraries of out-of-town friends in for a visit!

I was pleasantly surprised to find such great reviews on this place and decided to surprise my mom with a massage here as thai massage is her favorite. It's a combination of stretching and deep tissue massage. The place can be a little hidden, despite it being on a main street, because their sign is hidden by a gate. It's a regular looking house right next door to the palm reading place.
As my mom and I are walking from the car to the house, we both noticed that they had what appeared to be massage stations outside. That might be nice during the spring/summer/fall, but the noise of Indian Hill would concern me. Anyways- when we got to the door, we were greeted by the massage therapist who took my mom and whisked her away for her massage. When I came back to pick her up- the front door was locked. This was kind of annoying (not a deal breaker though) because there was no one in the front to unlock the door, so I just waited outside until they saw me. There isn't much of a waiting area other than a bench or two, so if you're waiting for someone, try to do something else :)
the lady that worked on my mom was named Maew (pronounced "meow"...yes, the sound that cats make). According to my mom, who btw, has pretty high standards, she did a fantastic job! My mom, who is never the one to splurge on massages, says she'll definitely have to come back. I could definitely see that Maew did her job- my mom looked so incredibly relaxed, which was a look she hasn't quite had in some time, and she remained relaxed and calm for the rest of the day. I DEFINITELY recommend this place to those who are looking for an affordable massage- even if you've never experienced a thai massage, it's really no different, just better, as it relaxes you more. You can't beat the price- $45 for an hour; $60 for 90 minutes. They do have a sister store in Claremont, but it's $10 more. My parents live in claremont, so technically the claremont one is closer, but you might as well drive for another 5 minutes and save $10. just my 2 cents. :) -

I am a massage therapist myself, and once I discovered the joys of Thai massage here at Ayodhya, I have not gone back to other styles of massage! Ayodhya staff are all welcoming with very bright and happy dispositions. This place is a small home away from Thailand, peacefully set back from the main road in Pomona, literally just south of the 10 freeway, with easy access. This is a wonderful place to go alone or with a group for a massage. The price is amazing and very affordable, so go and try for yourself! They have a sister store in Claremont on First Street, which is even more beautiful, but $10 more per massage session. ( At the moment there is no difference in price) There are two types of massage available, straight Thai and Thai/West combo. Both are excellent. Worth a trip and worth a gift to someone you love.

This was a little gem of a place, located on an unlikely part of Indian Hill in Pomona. I had a one-hour full-body Thai massage the day after running a marathon, and the massuese was really aware of and sensitive to my soreness. The atmosphere was completely relaxing. Nice music, some sort of nice smell...I almost fell asleep, I think. For 45 bucks, I definitely got my money's worth. This place definitely exceeded my expectations!

We are big fans of thai massage in general. We first started going to Thai massage in downtown LA. Although it was in a pretty ghetto neighborhood, the $40/hr ($35 when we first started going years ago) price just can't be beat, and the ladies were all very good. Now that we're no longer in west LA, we were hoping to find a good thai place closer to us.
We decided to try out Ayodhya after reading the reviews. The interior of the house was very clean and nice, definitely gets you in the thai-massage mood. We only saw two rooms, one with about 3 mats/space, and the other one probably about 1 or 2 mats. We went with the $45/r thai massage (this one doesn't include any oil or lotion). I didn't realize until after the massage that they offer a different East meets West type of thai massage for $55/hr that (includes oil or lotion). I guess we were spoiled because the downtown LA place always uses some type of oil.
The ladies were okay, asked about how I felt the pressure was frequently, and worked on my troubled spots well. My husband though had to frequently tell his lady to put more pressure. Overall I'd say this place was just so-so, but we'd definitely prefer the thai massage in LA more. -

Been meaning to write this review for a while. This cozy place is AWESOME. The massage is a perfect combination of deep tissue and stretching that left me walking out stupid. I had to sit in the car for a while shaking off the head high before I was able to drive away. The staff is incredibly friendly and eager to please.

Hidden in Pomona, is this great find.
I was brought here recently, by my mom, who treated me to a Thai massage for my birthday. We drove up to Ayodhya, and my first thoughts are "Why are we at a house?" You walk inside, and the first thing you smell is this aromatic tea. You are greeted by one of the employees there, dressed in a mix of traditional Thai costume, and a uniform with their logo. You will see a yoga floor in the front room. (They offer free yoga classes every Sunday or Tuesday) You are ushered to the restroom, where they give you something to wear. You are then brought over to one of the massage rooms where you will see massage platform. For the first 10 minutes, they will ask you if the pressure is ok, so voice up if it is not hard enough or if it is too hard. After your session (60 or 90 minutes), they let you collect your bearings and leave you alone. You then change back to your clothes, and as you approach the cashier to pay, you are given some of that aromatic tea that you smelled when you first came in.
If you have never heard of Thai massage, it's where they bend your legs and arms, into different positions, to stretch your muscles. (http://en.wikipedia.or...) It's very relaxing. -

I went here because of the Yelp reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. I have never had a Thai massage before. I've had all the usual basic massage types before. So this experience was definitely new for me.
The location is off a big intersection and it looks like it was a house converted into a business. They have lovely decorations outside and a spectacular decorative front door. It also looks like they have a back outdoor section for outdoor massages.
Once you enter, it's a bit warm inside. They request that you change your shoes to some indoor slippers. Then they request that you go into the restroom to change into a loose fitting cotton shirt and pants.
When you go into the massage room, it's a large room sectioned off by curtains into 4 seperate stations. Each station is slightly raised off the ground by 2ft. and covered with straw mats. You pretty much just lay on these mats on a pillow.
Maal was the lady who did my massage. I believe she is also the owner. Not sure. But the massage experience was so splendid. She was pretty much using her elbows, forearms, feet, knees and shins to push at all my aching muscles. She also stretched me in positions that I didn't know was possible. I didn't know a woman can be so strong.
At first, I was a little tense because I didn't know what to expect. But by the end of the session, I was a puddle of goo.
I highly recommend checking this place out at least once to experience a pretty traditional Thai massage. One hour cost me only $50 w/ tip included. You can't get that at Burke Williams! hehe -

After reading the Yelp reviews, I had to try this place. The outside is nicely decorated with a meditation area. When you first walk in you remove your shoes and put on these straw slippers. Ayodhya is in a house that is nicely decorated and very clean. The staff are very friendly. I was very pleased with my $45 one hr Thai massage. I walked out feeling relaxed. I highly recommend this place!

what to do on a rainy night? let's get a massage! i've had this place bookmarked for about a year now and am glad to finally get it off my list of things to try.
what can i say? my bf and i loved it. we've had a thai massage before (pho siam in LA) so we knew what to expect. i do recommend to calling ahead to avoid wait time. space is limited - from what i saw looks like they can only do max 4 or 5 massages at one time.
first time i've ever had a male masseuse. a little weird when he gave me a 10 second stomach massage - i had flashbacks of being at the gyno. thai technique is a little rough so it takes some getting used to. you're sore afterwards but it's like working out for first time in a long time. the good kind of hurt.
they are very nice here, clean & professional. i'd highly recommend coming here if you want a thai massage without having to go all the way to LA. they don't have yoga classes anymore though so i was kinda bummed about that.

Placentia, CA
I took 2 other co-workers with me after work, we had the place to ourselves! One of my co-workers and I had experienced the well known Pho-Siam in Los Angeles so we both some basis of comparison and my other co-worker had never had a Thai massage. I felt that you pretty much get the same type of massage here as you would at Pho-Siam, but the people here are so much nicer. It probably has to do with it being such a small and intimate place. They basically can only take 4-5 people at a time vs Pho-Siam which can handle dozens (i.e. 2 story building). This place is pretty much a converted house. Thai massages are good however I don't really care for the reflexology part at the end...I feel like that's their opportunity for 15 minutes of cool down and quite frankly, I feel like they are going to jack my back up by twisting it to and from. My one co-worker who'd never experienced this type of massage preferred the $15 chinese foot massage places that have now popped all over the place. He felt that it's a 1/3 of the price and you pretty much feel the same afterwards. I'll be back, it's worth treating yourself every once in awhile.

I have been to Pho Siam in LA several times and enjoyed their service for a while. Since I moved to Claremont for my graduate school, I found this relaxing thai massage place through YELP(just like the way i found the fabulous PHOSIAM before...). And Yum who helped me today is serving his customer with really gentle touch at first place. So you could enjoy his massage if you are a gentle massage fan. But you could absolutely ask for a harder way. They also have female massagist on side you could reauest. I was honestly a little surprised when i saw my massagist is a guy(i am a girl), but i felt comfortable to have a male massagist cause i am a big massage fan and have had male massagist work on me. As to their technical level, i have to say, it's no comparision with those i had in PhoSiam, Phosiam is the best!! However, it's really rare to have a nice massage place here in pomona neighborhood(if anyone know any info, plzzzz let me know..). Besides, they serve with such a low price that i can't resist($60/90mins). I guess you can't really ask too much from a small place like here. So I give this place a 4 stars to show my support to the lady who is running this place. If you happen to live in this neighborhood and want some (not awesome, but ok) relaxation, go to this sweet place and enjoy!!

I also went to Ayodhya after reading the reviews. I was in desperate need of a massage. This place was clean and professional. The atmosphere was nice and so was the price. I felt great went I left, I got all the knot's worked out as requested,. I could still feel the effects towards the end of the week. This is one of he best places I have ever been to. I will come back here every time I am sore from my workouts. I Highly recommend this place for men and women.

Today was my second visit to heaven on earth! This was the best massage I have ever had! I carry a lot of stress in my upper back. I had many knots on my shoulders and Cho worked most of them out. He even went over the 1 hour time limit. Like another yelp reviewer I too have fallen in love with "CHO" (I hope I am spelling his name correctly).

i finally tried this place after reading all the reviews. it was great. i had Phet, a female masseuse and she did such an amazing job. she continually asked to see how i'm doing, making sure the pressure was ok, making sure i was warm enough and comfortable. i normally suffer from a bad back, and by the time my massage was over, i didnt feel any more back pain. i definitely recommend this place, especially with such a great price.
