    This place is freakin' awesome.

(One of the best parts of being the first reviewer of a place is that you get to be the one with the first shot at the obvious, groan-worthy puns.)

Seriously, though, I liked this place. Definitely the most affordable place to lodge in downtown Brooklyn, and if you are low maintenance and appreciate your slice of life to be served with a side of funk, then this is a good place. The proprietors - Carl and Lee Ann - are cool and Carl did a great job of welcoming me in - despite my late arrival - and giving me the low down on the neighborhood.

The rooms are small but presciently decorated. I wouldn't book my parents here, simply because some rooms have shared bathrooms, but if you are down with that - or at least ok with it - check this place out. It is a great way to support community artists and stay in Brooklyn on the cheap.

My wife and I receintly stayed here 2 nights on our vacation to New York.  Overall, it was a pretty dingy place for a pretty small price.  You get what you pay for here.

    First, the good.
-Carl, the guy who does the bookings is really nice and friendly.  He will tell you where to go, how to get around, etc.  He had our room ready to go and was a good communicator.
-The price was low for the area.  $80 a night was about the best deal we found anywhere.
-The location was really near the subway and Manhattin

    The bad
-HOLY CRAP THAT COCKROACH IS HUGE!  The shared bathrooms were an adventure.  I tried not to touch anything.
-The neighborhood is pretty shady at night.  My wife and I walk everywhere on foot, and it was a pretty scary walk when the sun goes down.
-The place was flat out dirty.
