You know how sometimes you get a massage and you end up in more pain afterwards or you feel frustrated that she didn't focus on the right spot? Never happens with Pamela! I have included a monthly 90-minute massage with Pamela in my personal budget or over two years -- and now consider her an essential component of my physical and emotional well-being.
Pamela is not just a highly skilled professional body worker, she also has a true gift of intuition and always knows exactly what my body needs -- every time. She is incredibly strong, creative, sensitive and considerate with handling my body, and my feelings. Depending on what I need, she will change and adjust techniques to ensure all the pains, aches and stress simply melts away. Also love the atmosphere: herbal tea in the waiting room, pre-warmed table, soft light, lovely Pandora music -- a real treat!
I also have given Awakening Presence gift certificates to several friends and my father, and they all felt the same way -- that Pamela has special magic healing powers!
Based on her vast physiological knowledge and experience, Pamela has also specifically given me a series of preventative exercises to manage my hip pain, at home. I have now integrated these into my workout routine and all hip pain has dissipated and, more importantly, I feel empowered and hopeful about taking good physical care of myself getting older. So, it's not just the monthly massage, Pamela also serves as a sort of preventative, holistic physical therapist.
When I look into the mirror after a session with Pamela, I look like a different person -- my skin is smooth, I'm breathing more deeply, and I haven't felt this relaxed for a month -- since the last time I saw her. -

pamela is such an amazing presence. there is something that she taps into that i can not explain. her massages are strong and you can feel her expertise and empathy every moment. an hour spent with pamela is healing in so many ways. adding counseling to her services is such a natural progression. the sessions are so much more complete with the integration of bodywork and counseling. when i leave her space, its like starting fresh and getting a giant dose of her heart to take with you throughout the day, and week. i see her regularly for massage and mind/soul tune ups. beautiful. xo

This week was my second time getting a massage from Pamela and it was even better than last time!
A combination of strong hands, knowledge of the body muscle structure and Pamela's intuitive movement created a full body experience that allowed me to relax and release energy, emotions and stress in a safe & quite space! The heated clay pads that she uses are amazing!!!
I also love the interior design and atmosphere at the healing center generally and at Pamela's space in particularly!
I highly recommend! -

I have had 2 massages with Pamela so far, and she is excellent.
She takes time upfront to ask what's going on with your body - and what specifically (if anything) you're interested in having her focus on. She makes you feel very comfortable and cared for. Very conscientious. She has a very loving (yet strong if you tell her you like a deep massage, like I do) touch.
I especially enjoy the variety of techniques she incorporates at different times - a bit of what seemed to me like thai massage, deep tissue, swedish, hot stones, and some AMAZING head/neck moves at the end, there, that made me feel I was melting into the table (a good thing!).
The space itself is also incredibly soothing - soft music, nicely decorated, and surprisingly peaceful given its central Castro St location.
I highly recommend massage with Pamela. -

Pamela does NOT give your typical paint-by-numbers massage.
She's like a detective--she seeks out the injury, the tensions, the imbalanced and out-of-whack parts of your body--and then she reaches into her deep tool-kit for whatever will serve you best. She moves between a whole range of techniques (Swedish, deep tissue, orthobionomy, hot stones, cranio-sacral) with ease and total skill.
This is active bodywork; Pamela makes you a part of your own healing process, which is amazing - you leave knowing your body better than you did when you came in. Honestly, I don't think I've ever trusted a CMT as much as I trust Pamela. She's a master.
Oh yeah, and it's totally heavenly, too! I wish I could afford to do this weekly! -

Three stars for Pamela who is A-Okay, but I am not yet a fan.
She is professional, her studio has a good vibe, and was not too noisy for being in the middle of the Castro.
You can book appointments online and good directions are given for finding the studio.
Now for the actual massage: Pamela worked the muscles I requested. The issue for me was her touch, she worked the muscles with adequate pressure but sometimes stopped for a minute, and she seemed to break her touch quite often. She would start massaging, stop, and then restart. I found it harder to relax with that method.

OMG! BMOML!
I visited Pamela's studio of serenity yesterday for the first time. After a hectic work week, a restless night and a long morning, I needed to be kneaded in the worst way.
What I got was the Best Massage of My Life! And that's no simple task, because I've been massaged by the experts at Osmosis in Sonoma County numerous times. But having a 90-minute massage by Pamela was the best of all worlds.
She provided me with a veritable smorgasbord of Swedish, deep tissue, hot stones, trigger points, craniosacral, and energy work. Was I impressed? Certainly! Was I relaxed? For 24 hours afterwards, despite typing for six hours non-stop when I got back to my office. Would I have another massage from Pamela? Of course! And would I recommend her to a friend or relative? Naturally.
Pamela Rosin is an extremely considerate masseuse, asking you what modalities you'd prefer, if there was any area you wanted to work on, etc.
As others have said, she's a consummate pro, offers an online schedule to accommodate your quirks, and actively moves around your body to make sure EVERY muscle and limb is totally relaxed.
Run, don't walk, to her Castro Street office at your earliest opportunity.

I've had many a massage in my day, which might sound slightly ironic seeing that I AM an Asian woman, but more on that later. I went to see Pamela for the first time today, after receiving a generous gift certificate and I can definitely say that I will be back.
First of all, Pamela is a consummate professional; she has a great online scheduling system, is timely yet relaxed and incredibly warm and welcoming. She also, as other Yelpers have attested to, really listens to you and your requests. I have some pretty intense work/ stress related aches along my neck & shoulders and Pamela definitely took the time to pay extra attention and love to those areas.
I also really enjoyed the extra techniques that Pamela incorporated into our session including hot stones and a heated table (so good for my cold body!) By the end of the session, the wonderful shift in my body was so apparent that I felt lit up; the ache in my rotator area of my shoulder had eased up, my breath had slowed and deepened and I felt all over happy. Pamela offered me a cup of tea and then I was on my way to enjoy the rest of a sunny weekend in SF.

Oh, if I could give Pamela 20 stars, I probably would.
Everything I do is bad for my body. I work in research, and spend my days hunched over a computer. When I'm not at work, I'm training for and running marathons. And I'm also one of those type-A "shoulders up to the ears" types. I'm tense, basically.
I started seeing Pamela late last year when tension and bad workplace ergonomics rendered me unable to turn my head, at all, in either direction.
After 1 60 minute session with Pamela, the pain was gone, and over the course of the next two weeks, my neck was about 80% better. After a second visit, the problem was gone entirely and hasn't come back.
But that's probably because I keep returning. As a runner, she is my secret weapon-- I run faster, easier, and recover quicker when I see Pamela regularly. Mentally, my twice-monthly visits work wonders, and I always feel both relaxed and super-energized (if that's possible) after a visit.
Now, this isn't a rose petal spa massage...they call it bodyWORK for a reason. Although the sessions are always ultimately relaxing, they are also really...active. Pamela wants to fix your problems. Sometimes this means rolling into an odd position, or having her kneel on you, or just working through a problem with her. It's a two-way street, in other words.
There's no "hiding" a tender spot from Pamela. She has sonar fingers and will find your kinks and knots and fix them. She's the most thorough and in-touch CMT I've ever had work on me. Sometimes she beats me up a little (she works deep in your muscles...deeper than you thought possible), but it works.
Pamela really listens to your concerns and requests, and she's just a really nice person to spend time with, frankly. And I love her workspace. It's warm (both color- and temperature-wise) and inviting, and I swear, I would pay good money just to nap on her heated massage table!
Other pluses: convenient, near MUNI stop. Good wine shop across the street. Online booking and payment. Evening hours. -

My massage with Pamela was one of the best that I've had. I have chronic muscle tension due to muscular-skeletal irregularities and Pamela quickly found all of my trigger points. She has a strong yet gentle touch and calmly coached me on how to release physical and emotional tension throughout the massage. I was most impressed with the wide range of techniques that Pamela uses based on specific my needs. These ranged from deep tissue work (she's quite strong when she needs to be but spoke with me about how much pressure I wanted and adjusted accordingly) to gentle and strategic maneuvering that would allow my body to release tension and realign itself on it's own. Pamela's office is also peaceful and convenient. I highly recommend her and I'll definitely be back!

sometimes when im really quiet and laying really still i hear music in my head. when im getting bodywork from pamela that music often sounds like the Hallelujah Chorus. Pamela makes me feel GOOOOOOD! she is in love with what she does, which makes all the difference in a bodyworker. and her gifted listening and powerful touch make me a new woman every time i see her. if i had to describe her work in one word it would be supercalifragilisticexpialadocious! magical with a side of delicious.

Pamela gives an excellent massage! I always feel like a better person when I get up off her table. She is especially gifted at helping the body release built up emotional tension. She also gets in and really works out the knots without leaving you in pain later.

I've had quite a number of massages in my life, but none have I had that were as healing as Pamela's. A few weeks ago, I called Pamela in a bit of panic, because I had a stiff neck that wouldn't budge and a sore back on top of that, and I had a lot of studying to do in the next few days.
Even though she was busy, Pamela fit me in the same evening. Boy was I grateful!
As a med student, I often go into massages with a lot of skepticism, thinking that the therapist will either not know what he/she is doing and worsen my injury by massaging too hard, or be too tentative and ineffective.
Pamela dispelled all of those anxieties. From the very start, I could tell that she really understands how anatomy works. She knows where muscles attach and how they get injured, and could tell just by touching lightly exactly where my problem spots were. Her touch was incredibly healing. She fixed my neck and saved my weekend. I left feeling restored and relaxed and with a newfound respect for the power of massage.

Pamela is awesome! I go to her when I am really ready to let go of tension- both physical and emotional. She really tunes in to what is going on in my body and is amazing at working out all of the knots and stuck places. She has a firm and confident touch, though she is willing to work as light or as deep as I want. Plus, she makes me feel safe and well cared for while I'm in her office for a session. I really appreciate the vast array of bodywork modalities that she draws from to give me exactly what my body needs in each session, and her willingness to work from her intuition more than following a particular method. When I leave Pamela's office, I always feel relaxed, and this feeling lasts into the next day.

Pamela's presence is almost as healing as her (extensive!) repertoire of techniques. Every session is tailored to my specific complaints, my current problems--wherever I am hurting physically and otherwise. Pamela is a true healer. She is intentional and conscientious, and puts everyone at ease. Part of her effectiveness is that she is a great listener. She has helped me with recurring back problems and the difference between when I walk into her studio and the way I feel when I walk out is ALWAYS like night and day. In my particular experience, Pamela has relieved acute problems with my back and sciatica in just a single session!!!! Of course, the real benefits only truly flourish when one makes a habit of Pamela's sort of healing. I am hers for life!

simply great. i feel totally relaxed with her. she's the only massage therapist that i have ever really gone to but not the only massage that i have ever gotten. i go back time and again because she does great work and makes me feel totally comfortable and relaxed. after my first massage with her i kinda felt high. it was great.

I went to Pamela for a massage to help with ongoing shoulder and back muscle tension. She used just the right amount of pressure combined with the very relaxing heated elements. I felt so much better and calmer after meeting with her. I really appreciated every aspect of her studio, too -- the soft sheets, heated massage table, soothing music, and her calm and soothing presence all made for a fantastic experience. She's quite an amazing body worker!
