      I have been to many airport Avis. This one is just don't workout well. The reservation is good. The service is good. The car is bad.

      The current Avis has combined the Budget and Payless rental car. When the combine with budget, it has the qualities. But when they bought Payless, the quality has drop tremendously.

      The car. I am preferred customer of Avis. The car I pick up is from Payless. The car is right size and model. But the cleanness can not measure up. It has last rental water bottle and dirt on the back seat. The car smell cigarette even they try to de odor the smell. It is just not there.

      Gas is right level, return is good. The walk to rental car facilities is far. Good 10 minutes walk from concourse B. They need shuttle the customers.

      Horrible service and rude front desk people who have zero interest in doing their jobs. While renting a car with my parents, I specifically asked if the rates changed if I returned the car early. Of course this wasn't true. I was about to be charged for the entire rental amount because the woman helping had no idea what she was doing and even said this to me - thankfully there was another woman there who was able to adjusted the price. I called Avis customer service and was able to get more money back because of a mistake they made.

      During pick up and drop off the staff were rude to me, to my parents - not ok. Only giving two stars because the car was a nice drive.

      I received a decent vehicle. This location has a Avis Preferred desk outside near the vehicles. There is also a board that tells you which slot your vehicle is in. For some reason, I was not preassigned a slot, so I went to the desk. The representative was pretty cool. He offered a few options between vehicles. I reserved a mid size SUV which in today's time is a small SUV. The vehicle has less than 15k miles so it was relatively new.

      Dropping off was a breeze as well.

      I pretty much rent a car from here every week on my way home from wherever I worked the week before. As a preferred member, a car is pre-selected for me and they usually upgrade me as I have my preferred car type in my profile. If I happen to get a crappy car, there are usually trades available in the Exchange and Go area. It's pretty efficient to check the board, get in your car, get checked out and the gate and be on your way.

      As far as returns go, these are mostly efficient. They do check in both Avis and Budget, so you will be asked that right away. Seems like they are usually well staffed when it is busy. Be sure to check your receipt before you leave as sometimes I don't have coupons applied properly.

      Overall, you could definitely have worse experiences at an airport rental car location, so MSY gets a road warrior pass.

      When I got to the counter a number of things happened. The attendant immediately tried to upsell me without telling me the car she recommended was at a higher daily fee. Then she was on the phone and walkie talkie for over five minutes acting as though there was no car for me (I made the res two full months prior to pick up). As she played around she didn't apologize or really pay any attention to me. It was fake and weird.

      Then she tried really hard to sell me insurance. I had called my agent before traveling and was told I didn't need additional insurance. I explained this to the attendant, and she implied that my State Farm agent was wrong. She said, "Well, okay, just know that if you get in an accident we will not deal with your insurance company."

      Hey, guess what? Unfortunately I did get in an accident, and I spoke with my agent immediately. She told me OF COURSE the deal with Avis.

      So this representative lied in order to get me to purchase coverage I didn't need.

      If I had her name if be contacting corporate.

      Avis, Avis, Avis.... what ever will I do with you? You're like the ugly step child which I continue to nurture, when Hertz is always right around the corner.

      You may be wondering, Avis, why I am giving you two stars. Simple- you tried to give me a Pt Cruiser hybrid, the Chevy HHR. So I must ask- can you people fucking read?

      There is a note. On my Avis-First account that clearly says:

      NO. MOTHER. FUCKING. PT CRUISERS. OR HHRS. GOD DAMNIT.

      Every time you try and pawn one of these pieces of shit off on me I'm giving you three stars, assuming everything else was flawless. In this case, you LIED to me and said I'd have to pay to get a different car, then you saw I was Avis-First (it's Avis' Platinum club) and magically you had a Pontiac G6.

      Do yourself a favor and drive all your PT Cruisers and HHRs off a cliff, or, at the very least, don't EVER rent me one. Blech.

      Lazy lazy lazy.....they didn't put my member number in the beginning of the rental. Had the rental for a month and now they are saying they can't add it. Pure Trash!!!!

      This review is about Avis Rental Car at MSY (New Orleans Int'l Airport). We had reservations for a Cadillac XTS "or Similar". When we arrived on time and made it to the Avis counter in the airport, we asked for the Cadillac XTS we had reserved. We were told there were no Cadillac sedans available, and offered the only "Similar" sedan, a Lincoln MKZ sedan. We specifically asked if this vehicle was an SUV, as we did not want an SUV. The desk agent reassured us that this was a sedan, even showed us a picture of a Lincoln sedan, and told us the space number it was parked in. We reluctantly agreed to this vehicle, as the Cadillac was the vehicle we specifically wanted.

      When we reached the garage with our luggage in hand (a LONG way from the Avis desk, involving an elevator and a LONG outside walkway), the vehicle in that spot was a Lincoln MKT (an SUV)!!! We would have had to waste even more time traipsing back to the desk with our luggage (there was no one around to help us in the garage, except the agent in the exit booth). Needless to say, we were VERY displeased with our experience with Avis at the New Orleans International Airport.

      I am SO tired of reserving a vehicle we specifically want, only to be told it isn't available. The "or Similar" vehicle should be an INFREQUENT occurrence, instead of what has become the USUAL practice. This occurs mainly because they have very FEW of the exact vehicle shown in stock, and mainly lesser vehicles in their inventory. I consider this unwanted change a "bait-and-switch" practice, false advertising, and misleading and blatant misrepresentation of fact.

      They get one star just because I had to in order to write the review. This isn't only for the location, but for the company who I spend over 500 a month! With. My flight gets delayed no courtesy time involve. In fact, my rate went up damn near 50 bucks!!!!!! I have no choice but to accept this now because if I try to make a new reservation the rate would be out of the world. Fine, but let's make things worst and change my car class and don't tell me. So now I have to try and fit my husband, mom sister in law and all of our luggage in a beetle?! Give me a break. I would have never requested a compact car with my party size. So I try and reason and get the class I initially requested, MORE MONEY! Are you kidding! Avis you will loose a loyal client here with this bs.

      i didn't think this place was that bad. however, i don't have an avis-first account , so i guess i don't expect the level of service that Thomas N. did:

      -- the shuttle came shortly after i planted myself at the shuttle stop
      -- even at 11:30pm, i had a choice of cars (vs. taking the last car on the lot)
      -- i was in and out of there like The Flash
