After renting from Avis for some time I received a vehicle that was dirty and not full of gas. As it was 11:30 p.m. andI had already made the long walk to the preferred booth and back with an injured leg due to no staff at the booth. I took the car anyway. I decided to be the good guy and brought the car back full of gas and did not complain. Imagine my surprise when I was billed $250.00 for smoking charges. I called customer service and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but Avis apparently is not concerned with their customer base. I will not be renting fro Avis again.

Burke was absolutely useless. He said we were too late for our reservation and instead of attempting to resolve the issue he refused to serve us. So we went to the next counter and the guys at Hertz were amazing!

Terrible customer service. Very disappointing. Had my daughter Uber to the airport and then denied renting her a car due to some ridiculous policy about not having an airline ticket and needing to use a Visa debit card. Despite me verifying all this info with customer service. They had no resolution despite the huge issue they created for my daughter. I would definitely not recommend.

Burke went above and beyond. My flight arrived near closing time and a problem with my card made things worse. Burke stayed late while I worked out the problem and got me a great car at a great price. I Will definitely use Avis when I return to Nebraska this summer.

Burke did a terrific job with humor and professionalism. I appreciated his style after a very long and delayed flight. Thank you!

We needed to rent a car due to my husband's truck needing to be in the shop for repairs after a hail storm. It was predicted the we would need the car for a week but the shop had to order parts so the car was returned 10 hours after pick up. Before it was dropped off customer service was called and we were told we would get a refund. When it was dropped off the representative told us we needed to call customer service for the refund. My husband called right away and was told that we did not qualify because it was a prepay even though the person he had called earlier said we would just have to pay the no refundable fee but there was no record that we called earlier. My husband then filled out automated survey with a bad review and someone called a day a two later saying we would get refunded besides the non refundable fee and the time that we used the vehicle. A few weeks later we have still not seen the refund and when we called yet again ,they have no record of the conversation ever taking place. Never again will we be using Avis to rent a car.

Service was terrible. I was served by the smug operational manager Ben Ferris at the Lincoln Municipal Airport.

Reserved a rental 5 days in advance they did not have it in there system. After almost completing the check for the car I was denied the credit check after reluctantly giving him a social security number.

I asked him to rerun the information but he didn't want to. I asked him if some information might have been entered incorrectly. He smerked at me, denied and said it couldn't be run again for 24 hours.

My credit score was impeccable. I was carrying enough cash on hand to pay for the rental and the 200 hold they put on your card.

Unfortunately this was at 8am in the morning so only one the competitor was open National. They unfortunately would not accept a debit card. My wife who had dropped me off to go work had to drive back and be late for work. I ended up driving my own car to Denvor.

Overall horrible service use a different company. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if Ben Ferris would have tried to be more helpful. Instead he smerked and held back his laughter while he denied service to a flush customer.

I rented a minivan from Avis for 8 days from June 30-July 7 and I wish I could give them a 0 star review. From the moment I began dealing with them, it was a nightmare. First, hey don't accept debit cards for your deposit even though other companies like Hertz and Enterprise do. What does this mean? If you're someone like me who lives a credit card debt free lifestyle, you have to find someone with a credit card to pay for your rental. This means they put that person's name on the rental, so you're not a driver. You then have to pay $13 per day to be a driver on your own rental(which ends up at over $20 per day with taxes and fees). My $525 reserved price ballooned to $625 before I even left the building. Upon returning, I was told I went over the mileage limit, which wasn't mentioned in my reservation or by the person at the counter prior to my rental. "It's in the fine print" I was told. Fine. I signed the paper. My bad. Here's the thing though: I was taking a 1500 mile trip. If someone would have told me that I had a 1000 mile limit, I would have found other arrangements before that fine print ever came in to play. I was never told. It's shady. Sure, they knocked 50% off of the mileage charge. I guess that's what the 1 star can be for. By the end of my ordeal, I had paid over $200 (40%!) above what the agreed upon rental price was. I will never use Avis/Budget again. This is a shady business. I have no idea how they've stayed in business when companies like Hertz and Enterprise are out there giving good customer service. I picked Avis to save a little coin, but after all of this was done, it would've been cheaper to go with Hertz. Lesson learned.

I booked my car rental reservation through Expedia. When I picked up the car, this Darion guy asked me if it's ok for me to use a Pontiac G6, I was like "yes whatever car you have." I didn't pay attention to the daily rate on the contract since you don't really get charged until you complete the transaction.

I later found out there was a price difference in the base price of my rental on the day of my return. Darion was also the manager, was not there at the time, ask the person to leave him a message to call me on Monday. Received no call, email him Monday night, still sees nothing on Tuesday, have to call in Tuesday afternoon to talk to him.

His response is practically, "you should have read the contract before you signed it, your initials meant you agree to that price, too bad for you. Now that you learn you should read your contract before you sign" I don't pay attention to the booking price b/c I was moving to Lincoln NE, in a hurry, and never ask for an update in my car, all he ask was if I was ok to use a Pontiac G6, how the heck should I know that is an upgraded car from a compact?

Will never rent with Avis again for the rest of my life!!!

I reserved my car online and had already PREPAID for it, and scheduled to be picked up on Sunday night. I dropped my personal car off at the Subaru dealership to have work done to it, and left the key. I arrived at the airport to pick up my rental car, and the person at the counter said that I needed a credit card to pick up my car. Online it said that I would need the card that I paid for the car with (my debit card) and my drivers license. I have rented from (the competition) Hertz with the same debit card with no problem, and they held a $200 deposit and I was good to go. So AVIS has taken my money from my account and have my money for 3-5 business days until it can be refunded. The problem being now that I still need a car and since they already took my money for the four day rental, I am unable to rent another car from the competition because my account now has just a little less than the amount to cover both rental/deposit. Online of course had no problems taking my money for the rental!!!!! I can't add money to my account until Monday morning so that I can rent somewhere else so that I can get to work!!!!! DON'T RENT FROM AVIS!!!!! The counter person tried to blame me for the mistake saying I should have paid in person so this wouldn't have happened. I guess I should just never try to book online? This is outrageous! Not to mention my son and I were dropped off at the airport, and had to pay for a ride to get back home.
