I love this complex! I just signed another year lease with Avion because they are great. The apartments are super cute and spacious for the price. I feel very safe in this community and have an assigned parking space. My refrigerator was broken and they came and replaced it right away. The pool is absolutely amazing... you really cannot beat it! The staff is very friendly!
The only down side is the fitness center. There is only 1 working treadmill and the elliptical is old. If it was not for the fitness center, I would've given this place 5 stars. -

I lived there for 2.5 years. the amenities were decent, but the management left something to be desired. The sound-proofing between floors was poor, and the network wiring was non-functional. The pool and gym were good. They were very agressive on deposit retention. I had to fight to get money back for the carpet (which was awful when I moved int) etc.

We lived here for several years (5).
The area is very convenient, just off 163, 15 and 52. They are many places to eat on Spectrum Center Blvd or a short drive away. There are lots of places you can walk to.
The management generally takes good care of the property. Anytime you need something fixed they normally come within a short time.
Once they started lowering the rent the place seemed to look more run down, lots of pets and people not cleaning up after them.
You can rent out the clubhouse if desired or if you have a family member staying you can rent out one of the furnished apartments per night. -

We've lived here for 18 months are we are very happy.
The area is safe and quite. The apartments look nice. There is a clubhouse and pool. Parking can be tight at night.
Avion is convenient. It just off 163, 15 and 52. Target and In N out are less then 5 minutes away. There is a Wal Mart and Vons nearby in Murphy Canyon. There are lots of restaurants nearby on Clairemont Mesa Blvd and on Convoy St. Toby Wells YMCA is 2 blocks away if you like to work out, or need a place to take the kids.
The management takes very good care of the property. They do background checks on new applicants.
Rents are coming down. We just renewed our lease for $150 less then we were paying.
The only con:
Some people don't clean up after their dogs. Management does a good job of keeping the property clean, but occasionally I'll almost step in someone's dog crap. -

I lived here between 2007-2009, I really enjoyed my time staying here, although I expected it because i did pay quite a bit for rent. I recommend getting corner units near the streets, it seems much more open and not as busy. Maintenance is pretty responsive here, the apartments are in good shape and the location is nice. The complex is well-kept. Didn't really have any issues while i was there. Only wish i could connect the intercom at the main gate to my cel phone, you need a landline to buzz people in ... that's kind of annoying.

I lived at Avion for 6 months with my dog Foxy Brown but I wished it was 6 years. That place is amazing! I loved tanning at the pool and having friends over for bbq's. They are very pet friendly and the leasing office was extremely nice and helpful. I always got my maintenance problems taken care of right away and they were always great with calling me back and answering any questions I had. If you're looking for a pet friendly place to live with a nice and well-kept community, look no further. Plus, it was next to my favorite restaurant... crab hut =)

Have lived here for ~7 months now. Wife and I moved here to be close to work and school. Unfortunately, can hear EVERYTHING our neighbors are doing above us. Other neighbors arent very courteous- loud TVs, etc. Doors slamming constantly, too. Just a loud place overall (had to complain about 2 parties, too). My wife and I have lived in MUCH quieter apartments for less. Have even approached the manager and her answer is basically that we are wrong, she is right (i.e. customer is NEVER right- not a good service policy). They claim there is plenty of insulation and a "foot of concrete" between our ceiling and our neighbor's floor. Not even possible structurally. We have been told by our downstairs neighbors that we are loud! This after we are conscious of our footsteps (because we do not want to be loud like our neighbors)! In our minds, definitely not worth the price.
