By far, one of the best steals in the area.
Beautiful modern and clean rooms. Love the jetted tub and the fireplace with the on/off switch. Surprisingly spacious too.
The staff is wonderful and very helpful.
BUT remember this... get a room on the second floor. THIS IS KEY. on the ground floor I heard EVERY STEP and BED CREAK from the upstairs room. They would have received a well deserved 5 stars if it wasn't for the ground floor experience I received on my second trip.
Maybe they were just heavy footed, but it was hard sleeping. Especially when they decided to turn on some sort of foot massager at midnight and we heard EVERY pulsing vibration that damn machine made.
Had a wonderful experience at this quaint hotel.
The service is 5-stars all the way.
I love the decor and charm and the fireplace in your room is fabulous!
The only thing that prevents me from giving Avila Village Inn 5-stars, is their bathtub. Trying to get in & out of their shower can be a scary experience...the tub is deep (which is good) but there's no step provided to properly exit the shower. It's such a major flaw about their shower that I don't know if I'd return because of it.
This is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at and I have stayed at alot. For one thing, the community around this place is beautiful. It is a small safe community away from the populated cities and out it the woods. The area is not crowded during the day and is very quite at nite, the only sounds you will hear are of the crickets, the frogs and (depending on where your hotel room is) running water. Very safe community and happy people. Plus there is a small market place at the entrence of this community that sells better food then down at Avila beach. Also there is the athletics club right next store which is free with your stay if you ever want to go and play tennis, go swimming, enjoy a hot tub, or run on an exercise bike.
The Hotel Lobby is grand, it is like walking into a movie or a dream. Everything is well lit and beautiful with elegant polished wood finishing on all the panels poles, stair ways and railings. The couches are nice, both up top and on bottom, not very crowded which can be a plus or a minus if you don't like the feel of being alone. But then again, it is beautiful and relaxing just to be out in the lobby and chill for a second. There is a nice fireplace too, if you want to enjoy a larger one then the ne in your room.
Finally the room itself. Very large and a very nice patio view no matter which room you have. The beds are large and comfy, the tv is nice (hardly used it) a fridge, incredibly large restroom and very large tub. We didn't get a hot tub with our deal but we got a jetted tub and it was wonderful, I have never taken so many baths in my life. I hardly ever wanted to leave the room because everything was perfect and so relaxing.
The only thing bad about this place is you have to leave the hotel every morning. Not to have your room cleaned, but to get food. The hotel does offer food in the morning but it is the bare minimum. So like cold bagels, bread, orange juice, cereal, basic coffee, and some yogurt. Nothing to fill you up so it is best to venture out to get some food of your own, which isn't that bad since the market down a ways offers really tasty foods.
Oh yeah, almost forgot, if you ever feel like streching your legs, there are tons of trails to take around the hotel. So take a relaxing walk next to the stream. It is nice, and air so so fresh, but make sure to go during the day light hours, at night it does get dark and kinda creepy.
We stated here on part of our honeymoon. It was perfect. We loved the hot tub on our private balcony and used it often.
The staff is helpful and courteous, the atmosphere of the lobby is tranquil and the surrounding areas are quiet and peaceful.
We did rent the bicycles, which turned out to be single speed Schwinn styles bikes. While they are cute, they are not comfy. I would recommend just walking on the trail behind the Inn. It is a beautiful trail and a great walk.
Unfortunately, there were new owners, so the bar was closed. They are working on getting their liquor license under the new management. Even so, there is always lemon water available in the bar and the lobby. There is also coffee, tea and hot cocoa in the lobby 24x7.
As a guest, you also get full use of the health club and spa next door.
Oh, there is also a cute little market that has simple grocery items, but it also has a wine section, a deli and hot prepared food.
Minus one star because they didn't offer continental buffet. Rather, they give you a list of items in 3 categories: beverage, carbs, and fruit. And you have to pick only one item from each section per guest. As a typical chinese girl, I like free-for-all. So I was a little disappointed.
Otherwise this Inn is very quaint and nice. We drove down for a wedding in Pismo Beach. Of course all beach locations are very expensive so my husband chose this place which is just 10 minutes away and it didn't hurt our budget at all. The area is remote and quiet. They have a deli-market and spa gym next door. A small fee to use the gym. We only stayed for 1 night, but we will definitely stay here again.

Where: Avila Beach, CA - north of Pismo Beach but south of SLO. The setting is one mile from the beach nestled in the small hills above Avila Beach.
The Inn:
I can't remember the last time I was treated so nicely by hotel staff. I do some traveling and stay at the nice Marriotts and other large hotels and this was such a nice change.
The Inn is built in the Green and Green style of architecture (I am from the Pasadena area and so I know Green and Green architecture...) and it has a fantastic relaxing vibe to it. The people (I saw several shifts of people at the desk) were uniformly kind and helpful with my onslaught of questions. There are great rooms w/very nice bathrooms, flat screen tvs and hot tubs are an option as well. There is always coffee and tea available in the lobby and complimentary biscotti as well. They have DVD players in the rooms and they have complimentary DVDs at the front desk if you want to just hang out in the room and relax with a movie (how nice is that?!).
This is a great place to get away if you live in Southern Cal. It is a beach community but it is not overbuilt (yet - I am sure that is coming someday). The beach was beautiful and secluded from the pit which is Pismo (I am betting that if I had walked Pismo, I could have caught some freaky disease). Avila seems pretty low key but there are a few nice restaurants (not a lot of choice since its a small town) and one club type place on the beach. So if you do decide you want to get a drink and shake your butt - thats there too.
I think this place is great for couples - it was very quiet and relaxing. Next to the Inn was a club that was accessible to people staying at the Inn. They had tennis courts, an olympic sized swimming pool and a kids pool. They had plenty of places where you could just lay be the pool and grab some sun without being bothered. I really enjoyed just doing nothing there and it was right next to the Inn (a few paces away...).
There is a creek that runs by the Inn and through to the ocean which is quaint and you can rent bikes to ride next to the creek on a walking path which goes all the way to the ocean. It also goes right next to the golf course which is down the road. I played an early morning round with some locals (a couple of nice old guys) and had a great time talking up the local flavor with them.
The last bit I will convey is that they have a bar in the Inn that is open until 10 pm. There were hardly many people in it at any given time but it was pretty nice and I thought that if you brought a group here it would have been an excellent place to just have a great party.
They were very communicative and kind enough to send a hand written thank you note a week later (are you kidding me??) and a follow-up email as well. If you are in the area and you don't stay here, I'd say that you completely missed out on one of the best places in the area.

this place is awsome. From the fireplace, strong cofee, and lemon water in the lobby to the room. I love the restroom, it is so spacious. I also love how it is so quite, you can't even hear the neighbor. Right across from us is the athelic club (they have two swimming pools, jacuzzi, lots of tennis courts (they also let you borrow tennis racquet). We got lucky and book the place two weeks before for only 90 dollars. Before you get to the hotel, you will see a market place (it is not a market). They sold really good soups. I love this place..
Great Value!! Great look (Pottery barn styled), friendly and helpfull staff. The room we had was on the ground floor with a outdoor semi-private hot tub. Would recommend getting the second floor for more privacy. The fireplace and mini-fridge were great too. Town of Avila is a bit artificial - created for tourists - but was nice. Check out Joe Mamma's coffee house.
Would definitely coming back.

A great boutique nestled just outside Avila Beach. It is a romantic little spot that offers a private jacuzzi tub on the deck, or in the room. The rooms are cozy, with a fireplace, and plenty of room. There is a bar located on the second floor, that is never busy, yet always has a bartender on duty. It also offers a continental breakfast.
It is situated right next to a trail that takes you along the edge of the highway, along a natural park. Whiel the on-site gym is awesome, guests can also use the facilities of the sports club next door.

i don't usually review hotels, because i don't stay in them. but i booked this place for my mom when she came into town. i liked it. the shower was probably the best part. oh yah.... and the hot tub. i would recommend getting a room on the second floor the tub is way more private.
the drinks at the bar were reasonable, a good selection of movies to watch. I'm only minus-ing one star because the breakfast was a messy situation. a soggy bagel and no utensils on day, and the wrong order on the next..... sounds snobby, but it can make or break it.
take a look at the pictures, they are pretty damn accurate.
We loved our stay here while visiting San Luis Obispo. I booked the room the day before with a AAA discount and stayed in the standard king room ($134 + tax)! It was perfect for the two of us - the bathroom is large with double sinks and a spacious tub and the bedroom is nicely decorated. We had a small balcony with a view of the mountain side and tennis courts of the Avila Bay Club. We took advantage of the balcony, table, and chairs by reading outside. We love the decor of the rooms and the feel of the inn. It's modern and new, but has the warmth and comforts most hotels lack. Service at the front desk was friendly and superb as well.
There were cookies at the front desk when the checked in and complimentary wine, coffee, and tea. There is also wireless internet in the hotel which was great since we had our laptop with us. We borrowed a movie from their collection downstairs and watched it in our room. The continental breakfast had a variety of cereal and muffins, as well as bagels, fruit, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. We jogged on the Bob Jones Trail to Avila Beach and back in the morning. It is a gorgeous trail by the creek and through the golf course. We even took an exercise class at the Avila Bay Club next door - what a great amenity to be a visitor at the club! Woodstone Market is in the front of the same parking lot. Great if you want to pick up food or eat breakfast/lunch. We picked up a fresh baked muffin on our way out and it had to be one of the best muffins we've ever tasted (huge size with perfect, crunchy top and moist insides!).
I like how Avila Village Inn feels more secluded and tucked away, yet it's closer to get to the highway. We also spent the afternoon wine tasting at vineyards nearby in SLO - perfect weekend in addition to going downtown SLO! We really enjoyed our stay at Avila Village Inn and will definitely be returning there for our next visit to the Central Coast.
I absolutely love and support this inn 100%. Great quality, good solid furnishings, small, great little inn. Be careful of their reservations because they messed up mine, but made up for it by accomodating me as fast and pain free as possible. The rooms are clean, not big, but very very well equipped. You don't feel the size of the room at all. The views are excellent towards the back, trees, away from the drag, and is next to the Bob Jones Bike Trail, which is a neat little trail leading you to the beach. There is a nice little market next door, the whole compound just exudes of convenient privacy. Highly recommended by moi!
Spent Fri-Sun at this place and it was amazing. Great access to Bob Jones bicycle trail and rode past the golf course to the beach and piers. The rooms are nicely decorated in a craftsman style. It's tucked away from the crowds and noise. Very new and clean. Friendly and helpful staff booked me a spa pedicure close by. A light breakfast was delivered to our room each morning. We did not use the hot tub on our patio. Very nice; we'd return again. Better deals for rooms on their website instead of booking on the phone. Saved $50 per night on hotel website.
