Yup.... this place was pretty darn nice.
Walls and floors/ceilings might have been a little thin as we could hear our neighbors from time to time.
1) right across the street from the beach
2) it's own parking structure
3) quite nice layout
4) not a huge resort with waaay too many people around
things to improve on
1) breakfast was kinda sad...hardboiled eggs on ice as protien? sure, it's free, but still
2) I know it's petty, but whoever did the ping pong tables, and decided it would be a good idea to have the bolts on the playing surface, never played ping pong
Overall... a really really nice place to stay, a great location, in a great little town. If the rates stay the same(winter rates for us) then hopefully we can make it a yearly trip.
Great spot right at the beach! I dig this town and the Lighthouse Suites are right in the mix. Small, cozy pool and hot tub with deck chairs to sun. One word of caution: the "beach front" rooms are actually along the road and a bit noisy on a weekend night. I recommend "beach view" rooms if you're looking for a little more peace and quiet.
This place is great. We have stayed here twice and love the place and the town. It is right on the ocean with a heated pool, hot tub, putting green, life size chess board and ping pong tables. There is a nice galley with continental breakfast and waffle irons. I highly recommend it.
Back for another visit - and I still give this place 5 stars. Beautiful one bedroom suite with a view of the ocean. I sleep with the patio door open and just let the sound of the crashing waves lull me to sleep.
Really nice staff - everyone smiles and says 'Hello.'
I like the fact that I can get my coffee and run in the mornings. Just wish they had more than just bagels and pastries for breakfast. Comes with the stay though - so I can't really complain.

So far, I'm liking this place. A lot.
I was upgraded to a one bedroom suite with an ocean view.… Read more »
We stayed here a few weekends ago for my birthday weekend. It's always hard finding nice, affordable lodging around the central coast. We were pleasantly surprised with our stay here!
We requested an ocean view since it was my birthday, and they were happy to accomodate. We had a two-room suite that had one bedroom with a King size bed, and then a living room with a sofa bed, wet bar, and another TV. It was roomy and very clean -- no complaints!
The balcony outside was also well kept, chairs and table was clean too. We had an awesome view of the pier!
And loved that Bath and Body works supplied their ammenities!
They also had a fitness room that we were planning on using - but never did. They also have complimentary breakfasts in the morning until 10 am. We only made it to breakfast once. They had pastries, cereal, fruit, bread, bagels, yogurt, a waffle making station.. beverage stations. Not too bad...
..and it's a great place for families. Walking around the property, we saw a small putting green, a life size chessboard, ping pong, and bike rentals.
The internet access was a hit and miss for us though. But what we really liked was the parking garage - nice and secure, and free!
We were also right there for Avila's farmer's market on Saturday afternoon. It was nice being so close and just a walk away to it!
We'll probably stay here again for our future visits, and book during sales... :)
Great location. Seems like a new facility. Clean rooms. Great family get away. Pool for the kids. Ocean front rooms. Park next door. 3 mile bike path, golf course, ... Will definitely do this again.
rating: 4.5-5
I'm giving it a 5 because this is one of the nicer "affordable" hotels in the area. On a recent visit to the SLO area, I stayed here w/ the SO. It was a gorgeous hotel. All the rooms are suite-styled, very clean, good size rooms. Its literally across the street from avila beach, which is amazing =).
Bathroom amenities were also great. nice big towels. bath/body works soaps, lotion, shampoo, etc.
You get a complimentary wine tasting as well with your stay. The hotel offers a complimentary hot breakfast, though we woke up too late to make it. I have heard good things about the breakfast.
The Con, it can be a little pricey, however I was able to book it during a sale.
We will definately be returning on our next trip back.
My wife and I spent the last week end at Avila Lighthouse Suites. We had a great time. We got a walking rate. The room was beautiful with a great view. The room was super clean, very quite, the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was included and was great (fresh waffle, bagels, danish, bread...). I highly recommend this hotel if one day you're going to Avila Beach.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Clean rooms, great ocean views, awesome breakfast bar....We got married at the ALS on a perfectly sunny day in 2007.
Brides beware- while our wedding day was perfect in every way, this was only because of the wedding coordinator we hired, not the ALS staff! The "site coordinator" and her assistant at the time were not completely competent. If I had known everything that almost went wrong that day I would not have enjoyed my wedding day. Don't get suckered into "upgrading" for the anniversary club- it only includes 1 night stay on your first anniversary and you have to pay a lot more $$$$.
