$28 for a decent room during Spring Break.

Keep that in mind as you read this.  Holy crap.....$28.00......insane.

OK....this place is a dive.  How does it rate 4 stars?  Well, it's a matter of perspective and demographics. You see, I have been to Vegas 50 times. Never to Laughlin. I have been to crapholes like Bally's and the Hilton and really nice places like Red Rock, The Venetian and The Mirage.  I know a good resort from a flea bag joint.  Bally's and The Hilton are banned from my life.  They pretend to be what they are not. They suck from the moment you walk in to the time you kick yourself later for spending so much on such crap.

Now, we had some dear friends that kept raving about their spring breaks with the kids in Laughlin. We had no plans this year so we decided to join them at Avi. We were able to get a room with 10 days notice during the holiday. That was clue number one that this is not Vegas. They kept saying, "set your expectations really low".  That was clue number two. $28 for a room.  That was clue number three.

Avi is a full scale resort hotel.....just really cheap....really low key.....and really a lot of fun.  It seems like half of Huntington Beach was here with us. We recognized 20 different families. It is some kind of tradition that the whole city of HB migrates here each spring like some kind of seasonal flock.  Typical casino, moderate hotel rooms, buffet restaurant, coffee shop, gift store, pool, arcade, movie theater, fast food joints, bars.....plus, you are on the river with a private sandy beach, tons of security, $.99 for a shrimp cocktail and beer, coupons for free gambling, $3 for a great Chicago dog, Free wifi, coffee makers in the room, friendly staff and dealers, edible food, and a ton of family friendly fun.  Hell, I even played Bingo for the first time. Damn, that was fun.

The clientele when we were here was mostly retired white folks and families with kids and teenagers.  Other times of the year may be different but it was comfortable like an old shoe. Kinda ragged around the edges but nice and comfy.

Yes, this is a dive.  Yes it is totally worth the money and we will definitely be back next spring.

Stayed two nights on the fifth floor of the Beach Tower, and ate at the Feathers Cafe and Buffet.
The entire facility is a bit run down. Although surface clean, I noted many areas needing paint and sprucing up. My room was comfortable and large, with a flat screen TV.
The Buffet had delicious food, and the chefs were friendly. The wait staff was mediocre, appearing flustered at times and yet standing around talking amongst themselves at other times. The Buffet price was very reasonable for the fare received.
The casino was like most with a stale cigarette smell throughout the area.
The parking lot on the south end was very secure as it was locked at 10:00 PM
and re-opened at 7:00AM. You can ask security to allow you to exit the lot during the period it is locked.
The room rate was dirt cheap for a dang decent accomodation.
If in the area again, I would stay here for sure.

Didn't actually stay here, however, we ate breakfast here a couple days and it was cheap and good.  Not your 4 star experience, no where near a 5 but where else can you get decent fare for $2.99 and walk away feeling good?

Chicken fried steak and eggs...was gooooooood.  And the wait staff were highly responsive and quick!  Gotta love that.

I stayed at the Avi with my boyfriend and some friends and really liked it.  The rooms were clean and staff friendly.  If you are looking for a nice little low key place, then this would be a good choice.  If you are looking for some action and Vegas like nightlife, then this isn't the place.  There are A LOT of seniors that come here but I didn't mind it at all.

Buffet had decent prices and the food was decent too!

My only complaint was that there were A LOT of smokers, but honestly what do you expect when you go to a gambling area.  Overall I would stay there again.

    I agree with the other rater...it's a dive...but for the money...OK.

My wife and I tracked an "M&M" candy that stayed in the corner of the sole elevator for our 4 day stay. The bathroom sink drained like molasses. We could feel the riff-raff around us; The security guards were out of shape and sloopy attired. Besides craps dealer "Rick", they were cold and unfriendly. While gambling at roulette I asked for a waitress so I could get a soft drink; the dealer told me I'd have to wait because the waitresses were between shifts.

The pool area was nice and the Moon Shadows Resturant was very good. The highlight of the resort is the golf course;top notch.

Overall, this is a one to two star experience. We won't go back.

I really liked this place! Kinda like a small vegas on the river. I liked that the casino was not too big or full, the pool deck is nice, and you can drop a boat not too far or go to lake mohave for the day. I will be back!

I never thought I would rate any kind of a casino as a 5 but this place has everything you need in one spot (I'm looking at you Spirit Mountain).

If you don't like to gamble much (which I don't) there are other things here that you can do.

On this occasion, we spent time in the hot tub (pool is not heated in January) and it was a bit to cool.  So, daily morning hot tub and basically had the place to ourselves save one lady who was swimming in the pool in her wetsuit?!?

We managed to take in a movie and eat at a couple of different restaurants while there.  It's got it all and it's pretty low key.

Rooms are nothing fancy but I've stayed in a lot worse.  They give you a small table and chairs in case you want to eat in your room.

No microwave or refrigerator, however, you can rent one for $10 day (fridge not the micro) if you like.  They have a limited number so check on that when you check in if it's something you need.

We stayed in a non smoking on the top floor and it was nice and quiet as well as smoke free in the halls.

We were probably the youngest folks staying there but then that's ok too.

    I know I'll be back.

I'm rating this place based on the current hotel choices in Laughlin, not worldwide.

Are the rooms the most luxurious? No.  Are the beds the most comfortable? No.  Is the buffet good? No.  So why the 5 stars...because the lack of luxury is part of river living.  Party on the beach all day and pass out at night.  If you want luxury and to win money, come to Vegas.  If you want to party on the river, Avi is the place.

I have spent every summer at the Avi for 10 years.  I have tried other places but nobody has the beach, launch ramp on site and amenities that the Avi has.  The customer service is good and security does a great job.  Over this last weekend someone hit my car while it was parked in the boat lot.  Security caught up with him minutes later (because they have cameras everywhere) and made him leave his info on my car as well as get a statement from him.  Had they not done this, I would be out the money to fix my vehicle.

From the Avi you can go 60 miles to Havasu or an hour up to the Davis Dam.  Great spot on the river.

The word resort conjures up images of an upscale hotel and corresponding amenities.  This hotel is far from upscale.  There aren't any heavenly beds, the sheets are still 1980s polyester, and the tvs are small old boxes.  Get the idea of a luxurious hotel out of your head, and you will love this place.

    Why I love the Avi:
    - $5 blackjack at all times
    - One of only 2 hotels with a beach to the Colorado River
    - The pool is separated into a children's pool and an adult pool.  There is also a small wading pool, which I imagine is full of toddler pee.
    - It's never uncomfortably crowded
    - There is an 8 Cinema movie theater in the hotel.
    - The people watching there is awesome.

Why I don't love the Avi:
    - The quality of the buffets in Laughlin is horrid compared to Vegas.  It's part of going to Laughlin and you have to accept it.  The Avi buffet serves the type of food that looks familiar, because you probably ate it the night before at dinner.  At least it's cheap.  The best buffet is at Harrah's.
    - It's a 20-30 minute drive to the Laughlin strip.  Laughlin is kind of a slow paced place in general so it may not be necessary to even head over there, but plan ahead if you want to make that trip.

Other amenities include a Massage Room, a Salon, a Kids Quest, and several restaurants in addition to the buffet.  Not having taken advantage of any of them, I cannot comment on them.  Also to note, the Avi is currently in the process of renovating one of their towers, so I imagine that the room quality will ultimately improve.

I stayed at the Avi while doing some flight training at the Sun Valley Airport and found it to be a wonderful place to stay.

For the price (average $30 per night) you really couldn't do any better.  The rooms were clean and offered cable TV, a coffee maker, in-room safe, and a small table and chairs if you wanted to eat in your room.

The staff was very friendly and helpful.  The maintenance staff was very prompt in resolving a malfunctioning bedside lamp and chirping smoke detector.

The resort sits right on the beautiful Colorado River and even has a private beach.

I did not visit the casino or on-site restaurants, but a few of the classmates that were staying there had nothing but good things to say.

There's even a movie theater on the premises, playing all the latest Hollywood films at comparable prices.

I plan on returning to the Avi Resort & Casino, if ever in the area.

This place has a great beach, a fuel dock for our boat or PWC, private boat launch, excellent swimming pool, a mini-mart for ice and beer on the beach, a nice golf course, everything you want for a weekend on the river right?

Everything except good service. This would be a five star review if the attitude didn't suck so bad. If you have a problem, nine times out of ten, they will tell you to pound sand. And the employees are in your face rude about it.

The food just plain sucks as well. Unless you like Subway or Panda Express. We love the hotel and their beach, but don't spend money there on anything other than beer and fuel.

It is a great place for families and it would be nice if they had non-kids floors. You will get a group of rugrats running up and down the hallways making all kinds of noise.

Decent place, especially since we were staying with a discount, but plan on eating in town.  If you get the 99 cent ham and eggs, it is almost worth every penny, but otherwise steer clear, greasy spoon food.  Thought the Italian place would be decent, but worse.  My room was relatively clean (I couldn't complain), house keepers were very friendly and attentive.

Biggest complaint, no place to get a simple snack in the middle of the night.  Not even a vending machine, odd for a 24 hour casino.

    The Avi: It'll Do.

It's the fanciest "resort" in Laughlin with probably the best price for what you get.  The rooms remind me of the 80s; well, the whole place does that.  The food there is passable.  I usually try to get off site for dining or just grab something at the food court.

I think if I wasn't staying here for work purposes and maybe to play on the river all day or the beach (their pool is pretty good, although they need a pool bar), I would be more than happy.

Final note: It's kind of like death's waiting room here.  I'm almost ALWAYS asked by the dealers or staff where I'm from and why in the world I'm there.

Nice casino. Great buffet (seafood on Fridays!). And even a firework store.

The only downside to this casino is that many of the employees have no customer service skills whatsoever. It is apparent that the management does not emphasize customer service and evidently provides inadequate training to the staff.

This review is based on our brief experience there.

We were recommended this place from someone who was chatting with us at the bar at Harrah's. He and his wife stay there when they come from Orange County. Based on that recommendation, we made the drive over there to check it out.

We wanted to look at the different rooms from their standard room to their suites. The guy who showed us the rooms was nice and courteous. We looked at three different rooms they had to offer from their standard room to their "suite". The linens looked like outdated cheap 80's bed in the bag type. Even the "suites" have those type of linens. Granted I know it's friggin Laughlin but if you want people to pay for a suite, at least give them better linens! Oh yes and the standard rate we were quoted at the time we were there was the same as Aquarius.

Another thing I noticed is there's no grown up area in the hotel rooms. When we were boarding the elevator to go down, a daycare's (if not a small classroom's) worth of kids stormed the elevator with their chaperones with all of us crammed like sardines.

We might go there to gamble or to see a movie but we sure won't stay at this place.

I gave three stars because the staff was fine. Just that the crowd of people who stay there are rather meh and the rooms are bleah too.

Not a great experience at the Avi beginning with an 11:20pm Friday night 4/1/2011 check in with the hotel registration desk (friendly in the snarky-marginally rude sort of way.) We were the only guests that she had in line, and failed to mention a few- would be -helpful things.

We went to our room, dropped off our luggage and went down stairs to register for a 'reward' card to start gambling (which we told the front desk we were planning on doing-right away/ the idle chit -chat while checking in....) but the reward desk was closed when we got down there.
She failed to mention that they close at 12am.
Not a big deal. Shrug it off. We gambled for several hours, and purchased meals at the Feather's Cafe.

    Our way back up (3am)
we stopped by to front desk & asked for an itemized list for our three (3) day stay,as there was a large group of us staying there and our concern was that they had -at check in- quoted a higher price than what we were expecting. This REALLY 'coarse' woman with curled fingernails (green glittered) told me in an agitated manner,  while rubbing her nose that; we hadn't finished the stay. I responded that we were hoping for an 'Express' (TV)check out only we wanted to have a quick review of our bill. She acted like this was an absurd request, and couldn't grasp the concept (more like I was a bother), so I left.

All the other things I would have over looked, if it were not for the two previous contacts with the front desk staff, but here goes...(nit picky but .....) .The television reception in our room in the north tower was so-so. Beds were OK., funky mini coffee setup (STYROFOAM CUPS [?!] who uses that still) bathroom set up is entirely AWKWARD; among other things had to place towel on the back of the toilet as the racks are far from the shower as is the hook on the back of the door. Buffet;coffee in  PLASTIC COFFEE CUPS (Egads) BUT----the fare was really not memorable but- 'Sheryl' in the custom omelet area was the best! funny, friendly, and the only other asset to the company, besides their boat launch area that I found anyway....

Stayed here 1 year ago. Have visited  here three times since then. My room was clean and neat. I was surprised that the room had a flat screen  tv. The buffet was surprisingly good 2/3 times I've eaten there. I love the pictures and artifacts and displays in the hallway. Being part Mescalero Apache made me feel good talking to some local brothers and sisters. I definitely will attend the local pow wow. Why you might ask. Because its a native thing you wouldn't understand unless you attend one yourself. Love the river side area palm trees, white sand, cold water and everything else under the sun.
They could get some new machines to play because some were older then my kids. That didn't stop me from dropping $100 in a Hee Haw slot game. Tripled my money and bought gifts and souvenirs.

We are a couple Washingtonians in dire need of sun.  We went to Laughlin for two things: sunshine and cheap prices.  And that's exactly what we got.  Checked in at 2:30AM after a 13 hour drive, and got right up to our room.

The Rooms: Eh.  But, they are supposedly remodeling.  When they do, I'll bump this up to 4 stars.

    The Staff: Friendly

    The Pool: Perfect!

The Beach: Was closed while we were there.  But we jumped in anyways.  The water was freezing and the sand was hott.

The Casino/Bingo: You will have to weave your way through wheel chairs, walkers, oxygen tanks, and scooters...but we had fun.
The Buffet/Resturants:  Gave us both a weird lingering acid-heartburn gross feeling.  But it was cheap and breakfast buffets were comped all week.

The bottom line....if you want to party, get dressed up, and see a lot of T.N.A. go to Vegas.  If you want a low key, relaxing, cheap, sunny trip, this is the place.

PS I'd bring my kids here for sure.

Only deducting one star since it is far from the other hotels and more popular area. Avila is a very good, family friendly hotel. What I really like about it is that they have their own beach where you can bring your own ice chest, chairs, and seadoos. It is very nice, rooms clean, and the breakfast buffet is good with reasonable pricing. It is also nice to not be confined to joining your whole group at the river if you don't want to, you can hit the pool rest in your room and when ready the river is right there just a small walk. My family definitely found our hotel in Laughlin, can't wait to go back!

PROS:  The pool was lovely.  Well laid out with plenty of space and chairs.              Yep...that's about it.

CONS:  It's dingy and a bit worn down.  The hotel room was severely in need of a good vacuum and the bedspread needed to be replaced in...oh...1986.  Even when paying for drinks they were still watered down.  The jet-ski rental is extremely exorbitant and there wasn't an employee to be found in the rental office.

I should have probably prefaced all of this by saying that I'm not a fan of casinos, but oh well.

This review is for the AVI RV park directly across the street from the casino. We stayed here because our RV friends we met on the road raved about this place. The facility itself was very nice, but they were working on the bathrooms most of the time we were there (~2 weeks) and they did not give any notice when they were going to be shut down for the entire day. The office staff was surly and quite unfriendly, the laundry room was decent.

The best part of the park was the casino's pool & spa across the street.  The "gym" was a teeny tiny, dark room with some exercise equipment, no ventilation and no tv nor any amenities, we never used it.

There was a nice golf course right next door although a little pricey. The casino was not as smoky as most of them and the food in the restaurants was a very good value.

They have a huge lot for boondocking which is free for 3 days and if you have a casino card and rack up some points you can stay for a pretty long time.

The worst part of the park, for me, was the road noise. We originally parked in the spaces reserved for large rigs but we backed up right onto a busy street and I heard the road noise all night long, we moved after the first night and it was a little better.  This area gets constant wind and it just isn't a place I'd rush back to.

We did hear that in the spring the beach is packed and they have a lot of activities right on the river which could be fun - although some people told us they came out at 5am to put out some chairs for the day and there wasn't a spot left!

I overlooked Avi a handful of times because it was out of the way of my destination to casino drive. But this trip i've gone there several times, and it's a great place.

The theater is very modern and has stadium seating, unlike the riverside and outlet center theaters. It's also less crowded than the other theaters which is nice.

The buffet is a great value. Not as fancy as Harrah's, or the buffet in Avi's Moonfire Grille (which is amazing!), but it's got prime rib, and a good dessert selection. They have a 2 for 1 on the lunch on weekends, which is an awesome deal.

The casino is very nice. We've done pretty well on the machines there. Avi has lots of gaming promos. You don't have to gamble a fortune to get free movie tickets, gas cards, and dinners.

It's definitely worth the 20 minute drive from casino drive to check out.

Great place to learn how to play the tables. However, if you're a newbie like me it can be a bit intimidating.

However, this past weekend the casino was relatively empty and gave me plenty of options for the poker machines I wanted to play after leaving the blackjack tables.

Drink service was excellent early on in the evening, but wavered as the night progressed. The drinks, by the time we left, were so watered down that my whiskey sours were nasty tasting. Oh well, at least it was a free drink.

Would definitely come back in the future. I hear they have an excellent deal for their breakfasts. I think it's way under $5 for ham and eggs.

I feel compelled to start by saying Laughlin is not Vegas.  Vegas is all about staying up late and partying.  Laughlin is all about being relaxed and takin' a nap.  That being said, my husband and I go to Laughlin several times a year.  On our most recent trip my husband remembered the Avi casino and we decided to check it out.

Avi has hands down my favorite buffet in Laughlin-by far!  Everything was tasty and the selection was huge.  Avi also has the most amazing pool I have ever seen in Laughlin and a separate sandy beach to boot.  Their dealers are friendly and the amount of smoke in the casino was equal if not better than all other Laughlin casinos.

My husband and I would love to stay at this casino the next time we are in Laughlin.

Believe the negative comments.  I was there with my family and it was all true, from the murky pool water to the rude staff.  The buffet was very bad but we did get a two for one on Thursday. On the other hand kid quest, the child care center was very safe. The beach at the river was also nice.  I'm not sure Laughlin offers other places that are any better it all looks run down and there is very little attention given to customer service overall.

At the last second I was whisked away to here for the Annual Avi Powwow and Bird Dancing competition. I liked that they give away free drinks if you're playing! whoo!! But then again, it took FOREVER for the drink to come. Boo!! and the drinks weren't that strong. I tried, but so couldn't catch a buzz with a two foot wide glove!

Oh well... The rooms were pretty much standard. but I would like to warn Yelpers that the sides of the tubs are CRAZY high!! Everyone stubbed their toes trying to get in or out. There's also a deposit, even for cash payers. Which was pretty cool... because when we signed in, we paid $230 for two nights and then walked away with $100 at the end of the trip... and after all my loosing at the casino... I could use all the money I can get my hands on!

This casino is pretty far off the Laughlin strip, but if you just want to gamble among the Geritol generation, this is the place. The casino lacks all the flair of the downtown Laughlin casinos, but they make up for it with good prices and service. I would go here again.

The gaming rooms were never too crowded and the servers were attentive to the players. The food was good and CHEAP...a good value in my book.

The hotel boasts that it is a resort since they made their own beach along the Colorado River. I am not too sure about that claim, but then again, since most of their customers have been in AARP for over a decade, I am not sure that it matters.

    Pros:

Decent clean rooms for $22 a night, breakfast included? Alright!

Fabulous drink and food specials: $1 pints of beer, incredible five-course Italian dinner including a glass of wine for $30 for two; all you can eat pasta plus dessert and wine for $6.95; $.99 ham and eggs breakfast special. Free drinks are offered frequently when gambling. Other specials are offered during different days of the week.

Quite a few full pay video poker machines.

    Gorgeous pool and lake.

    Cons:

Rooms are not the fanciest, but they work.

The steakhouse has followed the trend of others: way over-priced pieces of beef.

Dig a little for the specials and the Avi will please.

This review is for Monster Hand Wash which is located at the Avi Resort.

Don't use this service!!!  They pressure washed the stereo on my husband's Harley Davidson and ruined it.  The owner took no responsibility and didn't even offer to refund the cost of the wash (which is $60).  A replacement stereo cost $300.  My husband drove in w/ his music blaring and after the wash the face plate was water-logged. What was supposed to be a lovely afternoon ended up being a time suck and $360  sadly spent!

When my husband confronted the owner, he was pumping coins into a slot machine inside the casino all the while telling my husband that he couldn't  give my husband "what he didn't have".  Well if the guy would stop gambling and pay attention to his staff perhaps he won't have these problems.

There are plenty of car washes in Fort Mojave who would take much better care of you.

We will never go to the Avi again either since this is a business they support.

DO  NOT USE MONSTER HAND WASH IN THE AVI.

A hidden jewel, about 15 minutes south of Casino Drive sits the Avi Resort.  It boasts big time fun on a budget, we stayed Valentines weekend for $22 a night.  Clean rooms nothing fancy but I've paid alot more for the same or less. Casino was fun the coupons they give you with the players club are great. Good selection of machines and table games complementary drinks. Theres a gorgeous pool thou its not heated I cant wait to come back in the summer.  Movie theater and fast food in house.  99 cent ham and egg breakfast was more like an eight dollar dennys meal loved it!  Hot dog or shrimp cocktail and a beer for 99cents also was great. I booked on expedia looking for a cheapie weekend and found something great.

The Avi ain't exactly fancy, so if you're used to Vegas-style opulence you probably won't like it here.  That being said, the Avi is probably my favorite casino in Laughlin, even though it isn't even on the strip and it's nowhere near as glitzy (if anything in Laughlin can properly be termed "glitzy") as Harrah's or the Riverside or whatever.  First of all, the room rates here are amazingly cheap - if you have one of those frequent gambler cards you can get rooms as low as $29/night, even on weekends during the middle of the summer.  Second, the Avi is expanding rapidly, so what used to be a dusty little hole in the wall across the bridge from Fort Mohave is now a pretty nice place.  They just put in a pool that's absolutely beautiful, with waterfalls everywhere and a pool side bar for people who don't feel like traipsing 50 feet into the casino to get a drink.  They also have their own beach and launch ramp for guests only, so if you like playing out on the river this is much easier than fighting with the launch lines at public ramps or going to the lake and waiting three hours to launch at Katherine's landing.  In addition to the beach and pool, they have their own 8-screen movie theater which is pretty nice (I think it's got stadium seating, but don't quote me on that) and a very fun-looking children's play area/babysitting service for the little ones when mommy and daddy want to get drunk and gamble.  Speaking of gambling, maybe it's just the random forces of luck, but I always seem to win more here than at the casinos on the strip.  Also, it's less crowded (but still lively), so you don't have to stand around for an hour waiting for somebody to get up before you can sit down to play a table game.

The rooms are okay, nothing special, but at least they're clean.  The beds are ... eh.  Not terribly uncomfortable, but you probably won't be sleeping in all morning because it's too comfy to get out of.

As for restaurants, they've got a few fast food places (Panda Express, Subway, Sbarro's, maybe a couple more) a restaurant and a buffet.  The buffet is not my favorite - I prefer the restaurant, which serves a pretty mean 99 cent breakfast.  The buffet does have a build-your-own omelette station, however, which is pretty sweet.  At night I think it changes to build your own stir fry.

The bottom line is, if you like being pampered, this isn't your place, but if you want to have some laid-back fun on the river, stay at the Avi.

I gotta say, the new pool gives me a whole new appreciation of this place!  Lounging with a frozen MudSlide in a lounge chair in the water, music playing, palm tree's rustling in the breeze.... made me feel like I should have been paying more for this experience!

This is a resort that makes you feel like you are in the middle of the Laughlin area without having to be in the traffic of the Laughlin area. I came here early one Friday morning a few wks ago. First machine I played I hit the bonus free spins and doubled my money. what's not to like? I'd definitely come back here again!

Just returned from our trip to Avi (10-27-11).  This hotel advertises that they have renovated their old tower.  They really need to renovate their new tower as well.  Still has old digital TV's which has very poor reception.  Still has against the outside wall air conditioners which are very noisy.
We were a group of 100 golfers which seemed to overwhelm their wait staff.  This trip was planned for months and their management had plenty of time to coordinate with the food and beverage manager but evidently failed to do so.  As an example the first morning the Feathers Cafe was so crowded and with very few wait staff that some golfers had to cut breakfast short in order to make their tee time.  The most egregious issue was a group of 8 had reservations for dinner at the very fine Moonshadow Grille and were seated quickly only to be totally  ignored for the next 35 minutes before they got up and left without eating.  At the Aviono's Italian restaurant the second night they were again overwhelmed by the number of patrons.  One person said it took two hours to complete their meal.  That may be a slight  exaggeration but the wait was long enough for many to complain.

I by no means want to denigrate the wait staff, they worked their butts off.  Our trip last year was a very pleasant experience.  I heard that they
have changed management and perhaps that is the issue.  Not sure if our group will return next year but I probably won't.  Golf course was great as always.
