Not sure why more people don't go here, especially Avery Ranch residents.  The view from the restaurant is very nice. You can look across the zero edge pool towards the Brushy Creek Lake while you dine outside on the back patio.  The food isn't world class, but the prices are reasonable for the value.  I had a very tasty dish, the strawberry chicken salad and it was very good.  On days that are not that hot, this is a great place to relax, have a drink and a bite to eat and look at the view.

The restaurant at the Avery Ranch Golf Club is the Sunset Bar and Grill.

The establishment is open to the public - and is worth a visit.

You are not there for the food - which is standard, and adequate but is not destination cuisine.  It's a lunch menu and is perfectly fine for lunch.

You are there for the view and the ambience.

They have a spectacular terrace on a hill with a gorgeous southwestern view of a lake, lots of green space and much of Cedar Park. You sit on the terrace, take in the whole view, slow your metabolism down and enjoy life.

They have a decently stocked bar, which helps the metabolism slow down process.

The clubhouse is as well appointed as one would expect in any golf club that caters to the affluent.

(The course gets a lot of play, and the parking lot is filled with Lexuses and BMWs.)

They don't get as much food business as a kitchen in that spectacular location would deserve - and the food suffers somewhat.

Fish is frozen farm raised tilapia.

Salad is standard iceberg-and-stuff restaurant mix with dressing out of the bottle.

Grilled veggies are actually very good - although your macrobiotic friends won't like the focus on peppers and nightshades.

(But  then your macrobiotic friends aren't likely to want to go to a Cedar Park golf club in the first place.)

There are lots of burger, hot dog, sub sandwich, and nacho options, all of which are just fine for lunch after a game of golf.

I go into this place - and I feel richer than I am - and sitting on the terrace I could be George Clooney discussing a movie deal with my agent, while magisterially surveying the countryside around me.

And to live like George Clooney at snack bar prices is a good deal.

You just won't eat like George Clooney.

It's a golf club restaurant. It has 4 star view and 3 star food. Starting 6 PM every Friday, they will serve buffet. Always different buffet, $10 per person. $2 Margaritas. Sometimes Fajitas buffet, sometimes chef special. It's definitely a good deal with the nice view like that. You can see Avery Ranch golf course and lake from the restaurant windows.
But people around there are all family type, so don't expect much fun at all. I saw people getting married there too.
Sometimes I saw people wearing formal office suits having food there too. It's a place making you feel like upper class people hanging out and paying middle class price.
Avery Ranch residents went there often, I don't know if other people from Austin know about it at all since it's so far away from downtown.

You can't need to be a member to have food there. No waiter ever asked me if I'm a member.

We live in Avery Ranch and have gone there a few times to eat.  They do have some great deals on occassion, like $3.99 all you can eat fried fish and fish tacos.  The fries were just okay.  I've had their grilled chicken sandwich with grilled onions and peppers... very good.  They are right that you don't have to be a member to eat there.
