We get delivery sandwiches from Ave 3 at least a couple times a month.
I like consistency in food and these guys pull it off often.
I even have friends that always want it when they come to visit me.
The bread is crusty and good. The meats are always fresh.
The pizza is good enough, but we prefer their sandwiches, fries and wings.

This place sucks, and I'm never going back.  I've been recently going to meet some friends there once a week, but the service we get is atrocious.  They make you feel like they are doing you a service by taking your order.  We also found a hair under the CHEESE of the pizza, and they only made us a new pizza after we complained long enough.   Ridiculous.    It also smells like something that ate a bunch of eggs died in the back entrance.
I'd rather buy microwaveable pizza than step foot in this establishment again.

We've ordered their pizza and salad for school.... I must say many things could be improved.  First off, the salad is never fresh; I mean wilted old salad that just goes to waste.  Their pizza is alright...could be much better

My rec league team goes there after week night games. Tonight, we roll in around 8:30 with about 8 guys and they warn us that they are closing at 9:00. They have never closed at 9:00 before. Clearly, it must have been a slow night for them prior to the arrival of 8 regular customers. They cook behind the desk said that we don't buy enough and all we do is sit there and talk. Duh, we like to have a good time after we play, so yah, we talk when we're drinking beer and eating pizza. Wow, we have been going there weekly and this how they treat regulars? Pretty lousy if you ask me. Terrible coustomer service. One of the guys from our group will be contacting the manger and hopefully they will change their service.  If it is a policy to close at 9:00, then fine, make it a standard business hour, but don't just decide to close early when you feel like it. I'll say I again, terrible customer service. We'll be taking our business elsewhere.

Avenue No. 3 is a solid place to grab some cheap beer, friendly service, and decent pizza in a convenient location right off the 405.  The fact that it feels like a Shakey's Pizza circa 1980 with bench seating and video game machines is all part of the charm.

The pizza is good, old fashioned traditional American style pizza.  Crunchy edge but soft in the middle.  It's just greasy enough to be tasty without being so greasy that it makes you feel gross.  This is far from gourmet but still quite tasty.

This certainly isn't the kind of place where you'd go on a first date but a perfect place to meet up with friends for food and beers.  With lots of TVs you can watch the game while the kids are kept happy with the video games.

The service here is great.  I left my credit card there and they happily held onto it for me until I came back right before they closed that night.  Thanks Avenue No. 3!

Dank, dirty, and overrun with midgets in athletic uniforms. Have a seat on a long sticky bench with a schooner of beer and and watch your choice of six fuzzy TVs showing either sports or televangelists. Don't use the restroom before you order, or you'll change your mind and leave.

I like to live dangerously; I ignore expiration dates, and I don't wash my produce. And I love Avenue 3's pizza - the perfect combo of zesty sauce to crust to cheese. The buffalo wings take 20 minutes to prepare, but the crunchy (never soggy) bits of skin and bone are always freshly bathed in pungent sauce. Eat enough of them, and you'll see god.

This local establishment has been around for as long as I can remember, and for good reason too.  The prices are reasonable, the food is pretty good for bar food, and it's a good spot to watch the game without having to deal with utterly ridiculous crowds.

A pitcher of domestic beer is $8, with a pitcher of premium/imported beers for $12.  For those in a university organization, they will also work with you for fundraisers as well, which is always a plus.

Shaun's Recommendation-Chili-Cheese Fries; goes great with beer, great to share.

I've been to Avenue 3 way too many times to give it any less than 4 stars.  I've probably been to Avenue 3 more times than any other place in Long Beach, maybe even combined.  Clearly I'm a fan.

I think the pizza is good.  Better than good, in fact.  I can't really identify another pizza I've had in Long Beach that I like better.

I think the beer is great.  They have a number on tap you won't find at your typical pizza joint, including a couple of taps they routinely rotate in with seasonal brews.  And they serve the beer in ice-cold-glasses.  Wow.

What's more, they've got a number of TVs, enough that you can inevitably find the game you're looking to watch on one of them.

Do I wish they cleaned the carpet a bit more?  Sure.  And would it be nice if they did more than a surface clean to bathroom every now and then? Why not.  But that's part of the charm, right?  Right.

Update:  I did end up going to Ave. 3 after my review the other day.  I wanted to note that there are INDEED new TV's, flat screens...however, they do not offer HD....or Sunday Ticket (the owner had no idea what Sunday Ticket even was)....
Anyway, still love it.  Hope someday they upgrade their Direct TV services. I'm sure they could have that place packed up on a Sunday.

Much like the Marri's idiots across the street, Ave. 3 ONCE, repeat, they ONCE had decent pizza.

Then, just like Marri's they, they changed everything about their pizza.

Now you get a cheaper tasting pizza and it's not worth that.  Both places used to have decent crust, now it's nasty, preserved ladden and the cheese is just a bad.

Places like Marri's and Ave. 3 must be owned by fools - instead of cranking out quality pizza and keeping pizza addicts like me coming back, they decide to go the cheap route and see if the customers notice.

Well, most customers are block heads and couldn't tell the difference if you beat them over the head with the cheaper, crappier pizza --- but some of us notice and we talk.

We also just stop coming to your establishment.

I stopped going to Ave. 3 and Marri's long ago and I tell everyone not to bother.

Too bad --- if they had kept the quality pizzas flying out te oven, both places would have a lot more of my money.

Now they only thing they get from me is bad publicity and none of my money.

    Bye bye

What else do you need.  Ice cold beer that's reasonably priced (get the schooners from the freezer), pretty damn good pizza, decent service, and plentiful TVs (better TV than in previous years).

As with almost every place that has a PA system, it seems like the person is underwater with marbles in their mouth.  Go there enough so they'll know you and it works great.

Continuing to shun the pizza (although, this past trip, it was a little better - still undercooked), I tried and enjoyed a meatball sandwich. The bread was terrific - in fact, I'd expect their other sandwiches would be quite good just based on the roll alone - and the sandwich was ... big ... filling ... not bad. I would have liked better pizza/marinara sauce on it - their sauce just isn't thick or spicy enough compared to other local pizzerias - but the sandwich definitely worked.

They have added more "premium" (read: $12 pitcher) beers, which is a plus, and each of the four non-HD tvs have different sports programming, another plus. The real problem with this side of Long Beach is that there isn't a pizza  + sports place comparable to Avenue 3 in that sense.

Big negative: They stick you for $0.50 for sides of sauce or dressing. Roughly a 500% markup on what they pay - certainly more profitable for them than the beer now that I do the math.

Tough call: Pizzamania is still a much better pizza (by about four Yelp stars), but I like sitting and relaxing at Avenue 3.

I eat a lot of pizza, and let's face it, it's hard to be disappointed when you order a pizza. I am usually the one that has expectations in check and have no problem with it, no matter what other people say.

With that said, this place is pathetic. My wife gets upset at me because I am always looking for a new place to eat, especially pizza, and this one was by her parents and she finally relented one day. I regret her caving in! I figured since the place has been there so long, it has to be good to hold up for that many years. Not so.

There was an adult baseball team in there the night we went, along with a couple small families. After we had ordered, it dawned on us that nobody in there - At least 20 people - had any pizza. Everyone had ordered sandwiches! The team had a few pitchers of beer, but as far as good, it was sandwiches everywhere. Once we got our pizza, we knew exactly why. It's a common comparison, but there is nothing more correct - the crust is straight up cardboard. No flavor, just flat and kind of tough. Needless to say, I have never been back, and it is the first pizza place I have ever told people to steer clear of.

Ave. No. 3 is a good place for some pizzas and pitchers, especially if you're near CSULB. It's your typical kind of pizza joint with long wooden tables and benches, sports on TV, and a few arcade games.  As mentioned by Vince, the pitchers here are cheap even for premium beer, plus they also have schooners. There's also an Ave No. 3 in Cerritos, but it just has subs and pizza, no bar.

a great local sports bar. somewhere you can take your girlfriend, meet with buddies, watch the game, bring the kids, and just kick back. there are 2 big screens and a couple smaller ones surrounding the dining area so where ever you turn, you can see the game. bench seating throughout and really close together. when there's a big game on, it seems like everyone came together. for the kids, there are several video games and a recreation table (not sure if it's pool, or air hockey, or what).  the staff is always nice, prides their establishment and decorates their walls with local memorabilia from years back.

the food is pretty good, especially the pizza and the buffalo chicken wings smelled good (vegetarian). it's even affordable. the beer is always really cold and there's a popular selection. $8/picher is a great deal. i ordered wine for the first time here and it's boxed. first time drinking boxed wine ... not too bad but the choices are limited to chardonnay, white zin and burgundy. great spot really. when my bf suggests this place, i never pass up his offer.

Good local place with good pizza and cold beer!  The place needs an updating face lift.   Add some FLAT SCREENS..  It would be a great place to watch sports but the TVS are from the 80s!   The owners love the community and support local youth sports teams.  Really great people!

This place never really grew on me, yet it has stood the test of time.

Avenue 3 really confuses me with what they've got. I can't sum it up that easily - imagine a sports bar with Italian food and games for kids to play. Yeah, the equation doesn't make sense to me either. How can this place claim to be family-friendly when there are drunks around?
They offer your typical pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, salads, and sides. Nothing really stands out though. If you blot a small pizza slice, the entire napkin will be soaked with grease. Food-wise, I'm not impressed. Drinks are cheaper than average here though - a pitcher of domestic beer is only $8, which goes a long way. There are enough televisions here to appeal to a variety of people.
Parking sucks though. Their own lot is small, and you're not supposed to park by Taco Bell. Thus, you're left with parking on the street, which is a long walk if you park in the neighborhoods across the freeway.
Also, if you want to pay with credit/debit, do know that they charge a fee for using it. You may not notice, but there is a WEE little sign on the wall behind the cashier stating it, which I never noticed until I actually got charged for using my card.

Avenue 3 is nice for a few drinks and watching the game with friends. Other than that, I would prefer to go somewhere else.

Five stars for the awesome pizza and draft beer selection. Had the most tasty veggie pizza the last time I was there. The crust was perfect and the veggies very fresh.  They have a great selection of tapped beer. Customer service was great, it is a very customer friendly restaurant. Love this place! What is really unbelievable is that my girlfriend likes this place too. I've been going here off and on for about 8 years ever since I atteded CSULB. I wanna call it a sports bar which it definitely is, but then again it isn't. This place packs em' in when it comes to sports teams ... straight from the playing field. Last night it was about 25-30 rugby players all still dressed in their uniforms. And it is always that way, just a different sport and uniforms. Don't be surprised if you show up and the place is empty only to soon become packed, or visa versa. This place is very family friendly too, with kids of the sports players running amok.
One of the major benefits of going to Ave 3 Pizza is the beer. A HUGE schooner of budweiser will set you back $4, while an import like Newcastle is only $5. And they have about 12 beers to choose from. I love their submarine (combo) sandwich and their wings, though not the meatiest I've ever had, taste amazing. My girlfriend thinks they have the best pizza anywhere. Her reasoning? She absolutely loves pizza sauce and Ave 3 puts more sauce on than any place we've ever been. Don't try the spaghetti though. Maybe it was a fluke, but the one and only time we had it about 4 years ago, it was horrible. No big deal though, I have no problem sticking with my favorites, submarine and wings, and dirt cheap beer. A definite winner in my book.

This is a cool little spot to take the gang to watch a game or take the team after a game. Very locally friendly. Service is personable, like they know everybody. Plenty of T.V.s to watch the game. Ample amount of seating to bring large groups. And they have a little arcade for the kids. The food? It's good too. my last visit I had the Italian Stallion sandwich. The guy behind the counter guaranteed me I wouldn't be hungry for two hours. And it was true. It was a huge sandwich. I love this place.

Definitely the best pizza in town.  This place is a DIVE!  But their pizza is unbeatable in Long Beach.  I've been coming here since I graduated college (CSULB, 1992).  In my under grad days they used to have a buffet.. $5 ea. bought my buddies and I all the pizza, salad, buffalo wings and garlic toast we could eat.  It was glut heaven!!  Anyway, I'm glad to find out the pizza is still great!

I had two separate pizzas in one session.  One was acceptable, the other was undercooked.  Remind me of pizza from the Nugget which is a sad affiliation.  However, the dankness of the place is appealing for drinking in the afternoon.  The kind of dark woody enclave you don't want to come out of with a buzz while it's still light outside.

Great pizza and wings! Every time I go to to this bar, the pizza is fresh and fast. There are a few games for the kids (air hockey, basketball, video games etc.) Interesting decor, lots of sports jerseys and photos. The best thing by far, is the cheap booze. The service is good and there is enough space for a big crowd. Usually on game nights, this place is busy.
