The service may be a bit, um, uninspired BUT wait - a pedicure including a foot massage with hot stones for only $20 every single day of the week? Well color me inspired to return and cash in on a steal! So I wasn't offered the 15-minute massage upgrade for $12, but I think my girl was in a hurry to make her appointment (I simply walked in on a busy Saturday and she accommodated me).

They offer a variety of waxing services on the cheap as well. Parking is tough as anticipated, but this block is a target-rich stretch of errand fulfillment. Park, stay, be accomplished AND go home with pretty toes... yes, please!

    Three stars sounds about right.

Pros: Clean, spacious, great massage chairs, great selection of OPI and Essie polish, and super affordable.

Cons: Totally inconsistent depending on how busy the place is. I like to feel pampered and they've often forgotten the hot stone massage or even applying lotion to my feet after a drying footbath. Sometimes my pedicure will take 45 minutes, sometimes only 25.

Yes, its affordable, and when I need a quick nail fix, I usually come here. But you get what you pay for, so be warned.

Twenty minutes for a $20.00 pedi.  Never felt so rushed plus always pushing you for extra services for extra $$.  Polish application just ok.  I guess you get what you paid for.  If your looking for a bargain go to A1 Nails instead.

Went in, asked for nail service, refused pedicure, told to pick color. Came back with color and told to sit down "over there". After 15 minutes I left. No response even when I walked out the door. They must have it like that.  Went to another salon close by and was immediately serviced and given information on nail care.  Wow!

With a wedding around the corner I called my regular hair salon to make an appointment. An express mani was $30! Um... no. I called Avenue Nail Spa and their mani/pedi combo was $30. That's where I went.

An hour and a half prior to my appointment, I showed up (I had the time). The entry way was really nice and the decoration of the whole space was elegant, but clearly about the business of doing nails. There were two or three rows of manicure stations and a line of massage chairs for pedicures along the wall. I was quickly greeted and was told that it was perfectly acceptable that I showed up so early.

Now this is where I offer up that I have only had this done twice before in my life. I didn't know where to go and nobody came to get me from the front desk and usher me to where to go. A young woman waved me over from one of the massage chairs. It would have been nice to be escorted.

The employee working with me didn't speak very good English and didn't explain what she was doing to me (or what she wanted me to do). It was awkwardly silent (no music and a small TV on the wall across the room was muted). She unceremoniously put my feet in and out of the water. She didn't show me how to adjust the massage chair (I didn't ask either). She used warmed stones to massage my feet and calves. Once finished, she gave me special flip-flops and brought me over to a manicure station to do my nails. Being all business, she also had me pay for her services right then.

Another time when I had my nails done, the technician told me that it's illegal to cut cuticles (it can cause infections) - they can only cut already dead skin. The lady who worked on me at Avenue Nail Spa definitely cut my cuticles and they hurt for a week afterward.

If I wanted to get another manicure and pedicure, I'd definitely go to Avenue Nail Spa (the price is right), but I'm apprehensive about the cutting of my cuticles. I'd also like to learn how to control their massage chairs.

I just moved to the area and checked out Avenue Nail Spa because of Yelp reviews.

I'll echo what other Yelpers have said in the past: I got a pedicure, and it was good for the price.  I opted for the $12 upgrade leg massage, and while nice, I'm not convinced it was worth it.  I will probably skip it next time.  They definitely are a well-oiled machine: the whole thing (with the extra 15 minutes) took about a little over a half hour.

The atmosphere was nice, the technician was pleasant.  Overall, it wasn't the best pedicure I've ever received, but it was also $30 with the add-on.  You get what you pay for.

I adore this place for pedicures.  The prices are very reasonable (less expensive on the weekdays) and it includes a hot stone massage.  You can opt for an extra 15 minutes of calf and foot massage if you choose.  Even with the added time the price is well below any salon with a much better result.
They have the best selection of OPI and Essie colors around.  There is a TV, lots of magazines and even bottled water available.  I tend to go during off hours, but when they are busy they work it like a well oiled machine, yet you never feel rushed.
The best part is they give you a frequent buyers card and after 10 pedicures you get a free one.

Avoid the nail tech named Mary at all costs.

At least I think that's her name. The name tag was really faded, & I see why she wouldn't want to be identified after the horrible service she provided.

My first experience here a few months ago was great, & that's why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. The nail tech I had the first time was friendly, attentive & made me feel relaxed. Mary was the polar opposite. She was rude, hostile & I wanted to punch her in the face by the time she was done.

When we got to the spa, the manager told us there would be a 20-min. wait. All of the massage chairs were taken, and when one opened up I let my friend go first. I was sitting at one of the manicure stations when Mary came over & tried to start my manicure. Maybe I'm just anal, but I didn't want to get my mani before my pedi. I've never had it that way before. I was wearing boots so I told her I was going to take them off so I wouldn't ruin my fingernails later (after the mani but before the pedi). It made sense to me, but she gave me this blank stare like she had no idea what I was talking about. A minute or so into the manicure a massage chair opened up, so I started to grab my purse & boots. Mary snatched up my belongings while shouting, "I'll do it!" Ok...

Once in the massage chair I reached for the remote to adjust the settings to my liking. Mary leaned on top of me - no exaggeration, she put all her body weight on me - jerked the remote from my hand & said, "I'LL DO IT."

At this point I'm in a mild shock. She got to work & pushed my cuticles back so forcefully, I had to tell her she was too rough. She rubbed the sea salt scrub on my legs for all of 10 seconds, then hurriedly swept the hot stones over my legs. Most nail techs gently tap your leg or open their mouths to speak when they want you to switch feet, but Mary preferred to slap my leg or grunt & point. She pumiced each foot for maybe 5 seconds. It was the shortest, sloppiest, most unsatisfying pedicure ever. Instead of leaving calm & relaxed, I left angry & tense. My friend had bought me a gift card for Avenue Nail Spa, but I unfortunately left it at home. This means I have to return, but you better believe Mary will never lay a finger on me again.

The problem with Avenue Nail Spa is that it is completely inconsistent. You may get an awesome pedicure one day and a terrible rush job the next. The price is right, but I'd rather pay an extra ten bucks around the corner so I don't leave irritated.

They are the only salon that I know of in the area that offers a razor if you wish for removing callouses, so that's good if you like that. And they have nice massage chairs and smart interior design.

They have a nice selection of OPI and Essie polishes, but on more than one occassion they tried to suggest another color because the one I picked was either too light or too dark or had too many sparkles. Umm, thank you, but I'll paint my nails whichever color I choose. Also, with the turnover that they do (particularly on the weekends), I find it hard to believe they have the time to fully sanitize their tools.

Avenue Nail Spa could be so much better if they'd just train their nail techs to offer great service every time instead of every other time.

Everyone that knows me knows I enjoy a good Manicure! My mom and I had just had a day out and wanted to get the digits hooked up! Off of a suggestion from one of her friends that I do not care for we ventured to Avenue. Two days later and I am already chipping and it doesn't look like I got my nails done by a professional yet I did them myself. My mom nails looked like she polished them with her toes ...the polish was all on her cuticles.

Note to self never go anywhere that my mom friend suggest especially since I do not like her
and stick with who ya know and where ya go!

    Pros
Love the decor and the people are friendly!

I've been here a bunch of times because it's a pretty short wait and I usually decide I want my nails done on a whim...or on a Sunday. It's very inconsisent, though, as someone else mentioned.

All of the nail techs have been really very nice...glad I never got Mary from what I just read here. Most of the times I've been here, the manicures does not last more than a few days.  I also went to get my nails done where I get my hair done. My nails were peeling/flaking and she told me that whoever did my nails last was too rough with that dealy that smoothes out the grooves. That's happened more than once.

All in all, I would say that it's good if you're in a hurry, but you can get a better job for a few extra bucks somewhere else.

I've been going here consistently for about a year and a half or so.  I've always thought they've done a beautiful job and always try to accomodate me no matter how busy it is.  The atmosphere is far superior from most of the other nail salons in the area.  They are fast (without pushing you out the door) and I also think the prices are comparable to what you'd be paying at some other nail place that the atmosphere isn't even close to as nice as it is here.

I'm getting married in two days and Linda went above and beyond for me today to get me ready for the big day.  She really made me feel so special and I really appreciated it.

Good spot for a quick, no frills manicure or pedicure.

I've been to this spot a bunch.  It's quick, no appointments needed, and the job done is pretty good.  However, this is definitely a no frills spot (well, aside from the massage chairs, which are nice!).

Depending upon your nail technician, the job can be very good or just average.  They either use a razor (which I will NEVER do), or sort of a pumice type sponge thing that doesn't do much.  So, if your feet/hands need lots of attention, this isn't the spot.

However, Avenue Nail Spa is clean and friendly and quick.  So, as long as your hands or feet don't need a ton of TLC, then this is a good spot.  They also don't mind that I bring my own polish, which is nice.

I have been to Avenue Nail Spa several times. I have gotten a pedicure, manicure, and waxing (face only). I have been happy with all. The atmosphere is quiet and soothing. Their massage chairs are very relaxing. Even though they were very busy, I was seated right away. $20 for a pedicure, $12 for a manicure. $10 for eyebrows.

Boy, I really wanted to like this place.. but nope.  It's adorable - very clean, very modern, very nice looking - but the pedicures I've had (I gave it 3 chances) were terrible.

Very rushed, very no-frills.  Yes, it's cheap, but that's the only good thing I can say.  The last time I went, my feet looked drier when I got home than when I came in (no scrub, hardly any lotion applied), and the polish job looked like a 5 year old did it - she never bothered to clean up my cuticles or around the edges.

4 words... Hot Stone Foot Massage....

Ok so I went there after a few of my girls had raved about the place.  And boy were they right.  As someone who has scoured the west suburbs for a decent and inexpensive nail salon I was really happy with what I found here.

The decor is modern and relaxing.  The space is really big so you don't feel like you're being crammed into a little box.  The ladies are all wearing the same smooch which makes them look adorable and professional all at the same time.  And above all the place is clean.  I watched the ladies as they meticulously cleaned their stations after every client.  I was super impressed.  Not only that but they had all the new colors.  And unlike some places I've visited you don't have to purchase the new color to use it.

Now onto my expirience.  I got a wonderful manicure.  It's been a week and just now is it starting to chip.  Which in my opinion is the sign of a great nail tech.  Then yesterday I got a pedicure, and holy cow it was one of the best I've ever recieved in my LIFE.  And I've had pedicures at spas that couldn't touch what this lady did.  She used hot stones to rub my feet and used a scrub to massage my feet and legs.  Now the only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because the lady who cut my toenails cut them a little too low and they are uneven.  But hey I live in Chicago and it's winter so it's not like anyone is seeing my toes anyway.  LOL.

Bottomline this place is amazing and I refuse to go anywhere else to get my pedicure from now on.

Oh did I mention my pedi was only $20! and for an extra $12 they'll give you an extra 15 minute foot rub!  A must for anyone whose on their feet all the time.   Give it a try guys!  You'll love it!

The space is beautifully decorated and very spacious.  It seems to me that nail spas are typically cramped and I can't help but feel I'm hurting my toxicity level by being there.  This is an exception.
I don't know how they can rent this space and afford to offer such reasonable prices but I hope they can keep it up.  Aside from nail services they also offer face and body waxing.
Welcome to Oak Park new business!

    I'm upping the ante here.

$40 for a mani, pedi, and eyebrow wax.  YES.  PLEASE.

They have recently started giving you the option to add on a 15 minute hot stone/hot towel foot massage.  WHOA.  And not that they skimp on the regular foot massage that comes with the pedi (hot stones used there too).

My eyebrow wax was just fine... no bleeding or scaring here (as other reviewers have said).

At first I was kinda nervous going in here. This is a new salon its three months young. It has beatiful decorations it is very relaxing and modern. This is a salon you have to definitly try out.

A star is taken off becuase I went for a acrylic fill in and I needed a nail repair because one nail had fallen off so it was nice and lenghthy and the nail tech chopped it off without asking!! *GRRR*

I did love that she made my nails look very natural and better that they looked as I walked in the spa....

I like reading review that have price details so here it is
    manis are $12-pedis are $18-20
acrylic full set or overlay is $20+ fill ins are $15
gel full set or overlay is $30+ fill ins are $20

    Waxing $5-30+

    nail repairs are $3

    polish changes $5-8

I would definitly recommend and would definitly be coming back. :D

The first time I came here I was blown away: just $18 for a pedicure that includes a hot stone massage. They also have tons of both OPI and Essie colors (arranged by shade - a plus in my book), the decor is pleasing, the place is extremely clean and organized, and my nails came out looking great. I thought, finally, I had found my go-to nail salon. Not quite.

I went back a few weeks later with my sister and they completely rushed through the pedicure. Barely 3 swipes of the pumice stone, no hot stone massage, not even a quick calf massage. The hot towel was basically thrown at our shins then whipped back off. I will admit that our toes looked fine but the entire pedicure, start to finish, lasted 10 minutes. Convinced this was a fluke, I tried this place a week later for a pedi and mani and got the same service, even on my hands.

The three stars is for being too fast and not pampering me enough. But they do a decent job and I dont' know of any other places where you can get a pedicure for less than $20.

I was really happy with the nail salon. I received a great $12 manicure in less than 30 minutes. There was a great selection of colors, and the decor is beautiful. This place gets a lot of business - I walked in when it first opened on a Sunday and it was full in no time.

The only reason it did not receive 5 stars is because of the waxing services. I decided to also have my eyebrows waxed since it was only $10. However, the service was super rushed. There were still a lot of stray hairs left not to mention wax on my face.

I will definitely return to my manicure, but I think I will pass on the waxing and save that for my hair salon.

For a $30 Mani-Pedi, I left content. If you're looking for something cheap, quick, and clean, then this is your place. They use OPI and essie (my fave) and have an entire wall dedicated to the miriad of colors.

If you're looking for a relaxing get together with the girls, I might seek out something a little different. It's modern decor was very nice, but the place had a mass-manicure feel to it. They are all about getting you in and getting you out. For an "I need a mani now!" moment, I totally recommend.

A good "go to" place that's right in my neighborhood. The place is always clean and comfrtable.  I agree with some of the other reviews: the service can be kind of inconsistent, but they also work pretty hard to get people in and out in a reasonable amount of time.  I also like the fact that I don't have to make an appointment.  The prices are competitive.

Folks need to be reasonable about the location/price/walk in service, and balance expectations.  You are not getting a pampering at the Ritz.   The place is very clean, the staff super sweet, and the range of services fairly impressive.

I have had manicure, pedicure and waxing services.  I highly recommend spending the extra $$ and getting the 15 minute foot/leg massage with the pedicure--3x the pleasure for 50% more cash.

Same owners as the salon on Chicago/Harvey, which turned into a complete dump (clientele driven?) after a brilliant opening.  Clearly not easy to keep a place up with so much traffic.

Wait small, tubs clean, prices attractive, ladies super nice.

My 10-year old begged me to go for a manicure last Friday after school.

We waited 20 minutes at the window ledge waiting for a tech's chair to open up and had to ask, "Are we next? since it seemed we'd never get a seat as the seats kept filling up with women completing their pedicures rather than the folks just waiting for a basic manicure. There was no wait-list and everyone was rushing around.

I wish the manager had just said, "It will be a 20 minute wait" and we would have left, but he kept telling everyone who entered, "Oh, about 5 minute wait" which was not true.

A few positives: When it was our turn, we were seated next to one another, which was nice. And the decor is lovely. There was many polish colors to chose from.

But, we were totally rushed through the manicures. It was lightening fast- dunk, rub, cuticles, quick hand massage, off to wash my hands at the sink, and then the quickest polish I'd ever seen.

I would not have written this Yelp and just written it off as a bad experience and not returned. But, within 6 hours polish began to chip off in chunks. By 24 hours post-polish only 4 fingers had polish on them!! By then end of that day, nothing. Nearly every ounce of polish had chipped off. I would not believe that was even possible. But, I'd selected a sparkly color and apparently that is not designed to last more than 6 hours. Or the tech applied it incorrectly, not letting layers dry adequately between coats.

If I had had a positive experience in the first place, I would have returned to the salon and requested the polish be re-done free of charge. However, I did not want to have to wait in line to go through another rush-rush manicure on Saturday.

Total cost: $24 plus $10 in tips for 2 manicures. My daughter liked her polish and it is still in tact a week post.

This place is in my neighborhood but I do have another place that I prefer and here's why:

I needed a pedicure on this particular day and didn't want to drive to the city so I went here.   The place is very nicely decorated and they normally can take you right away, which is great.  I understand the concept of in and out but typically when people visit a spa of sorts, they go for the experience.   I thought I was getting a pedicure. Had I known I was getting a polish change, I could have done it myself.   The manager/owner sat me in the pedi-chair and put my feet in clear water, no soak.  I had the tell the technician to put some kind of soak in the water.   I sat down next to another customer whose serivce was in process and it appeared she was relaxed.  However, my technician appeared to be in such a hurry.  She clipped my nails, pushed back my cuticles and massaged me with wet lotion in about 10 minutes.  The client next to me was still getting her right leg massaged during my entire service!  Hey, what about my masssage?  I looked on the menu thinking it was an added service but no - my tech just rushed me out of there. After I got home I had to re-apply lotion due her not drying my feet off before applying lotion!  Needless to say, I will not be going back here, the service gets 1 Star!

When this place first opened, I was super excited...well decorated, peaceful, spa like atmosphere - within walking distance of my house.  Initially, I was very satisfied with my main/pedi and eyebrow waxes at reasonable prices....Overtime, the service has dwindled to the point that the nice atmosphere doesn't even begin to make up for it.  My pedi's are rushed....they don't pay attention to how hard they loofa, they rub your foot with hot stones just to go through the motion, no technique or pressure, my mani's are sloppy with too much nail polish gooped on, so that it takes an hour or so to fully dry and, my eyebrow wax always results in residual wax on my face!  It's turned into a sweat-shop like atmosphere where they are just trying to go through as many clients as possible.  So, I'm on the search for a new local shop now.

I haven't visited the Ave in a while and was in a hurry and didn't feel like driving to Wicker Park for my "good" nail place. This place used to be cool but is just a generic nail place now. The owner or whoever stands around like the warden of the place and makes me really nervous as he paces back and forth waiting for his technicians to finish and throw someone else in the chair. The "pedicure" part last about 10 minutes and the polish took about 3. Really half-assed and rushed. And the stones are not that great when homeboy or another nail tech is standing behind the lady breathing down her neck cause they need the chair. I will never be back.

After a long day at work, I decided that a pedicure and manicure would be the relaxation I needed.  It didn't happen.   Very disappointed with my pedicure.  And I decided to not have the manicure.  Winnie did my 15 minute pedicure...poor job cleaning my cuticles...no massage to even mention...and Winnie clearly didn't want to do the work.  I asked to speak to a manager.  She came to speak to me, but didn't really care that I wasn't happy.  I will not go back.  There are a lot better choices to choose from in Oak Park.

They have all of the makings of a great salon, however, they are quick spot to get your nails done.  I have had a couple of pedicures there and even though they have hot stones, they barely rub them on your legs and barely pumice the skin off.

They will give you water if you ask, however, they may or may not offer it to you.  The manicure was better than the pedicure but neither was stellar.

I had a no chip manicure and was slightly disappointed, I think they are still trying to figure out a good technique.  They do have a great assortment of OPI colors.

This is a very no frills place disguised as an elegant nail salon.

What a mediocre place.  It looks good, but the service is brusque and borderline careless.  My pedicure took about 20 minutes and I know I'll have to go somewhere else in a week or so, it's not going to last.  The woman who did my pedicure rushed and seemed to really hate her job.  I won't go back here.

What is happening here, Avenue Nail Spa? You used to be sooooo good? Now, the pedicures are churned through in less than 12 minutes, I keep getting cut, and the place smells like chemicals.

I'd rather spend a little extra to relax and not worry about getting a foot infection or a headache. When it comes to a mani and a pedi, a little customer service goes a long ways and this place just doesn't have it.

This nail spa looks so lovely from the outside, I avoided going inside because I thought it must be overpriced. When I heard that you could get a pedicure during the week for only $18 I decided to try it out. It's wonderful! I splurged (ha!) and got a manicure, too. Total: $30!!!  Great job, happy feet.

Love it!  This salon just opened last week and is right up the street from me, and I could not be more pleased.  I went in today for a long overdue pedicure, and I was very much impressed.  Super clean and they have a great selection of essie and OPI colors to choose from.  There were a lot of mother-daughter pairs in for Mother's day, but it still did not seem overly crowded and the chairs were spread apart just right so I was not sharing an arm rest with the person next to me.  They even painted a little girls nails for free while she was waiting for her mom and grandma (presumably) to finish with their pedicures.  I paid $18 for my pedi, which is great, and got a punch card too!  I have a feeling I will have that thing cashed in by July :)

For nails - they're excellent.  Great price, fast service, decent people.  For waxing - all I can say is DON'T DO IT!!  I had my eyebrows done and still have the scar!  I've heard similar comments from others, so I'm not alone.

I'm really excited about finding this place. Good price! spa pedicure only $18. I got what I paid for and enjoy SPA pedi and mani which are not available at other nail salons with the same price. They have a wide variety of OPI polish from which to choose. High quality base coat and top coat, no chipped! excellent foot massage!  I like it. Making an appointment is a good choice so that I can save my time. Walking in is available also. They also welcome kids and group service. Nice and clean environment! I believe what you get is the best in Oak Park.

$20 walk-in on a Saturday pedicure! Service is about what you'd expect from a "cheap" pedicure place, but it's much nicer on the inside than your typical "cheap" pedicure place.  Super clean inside, without the chemical smell of most places.  Pedicure chairs had massage/heat options that were great on a rainy day.  They use these warm rocks  on your legs during the pedicure which I had never seen before, and they were really nice.  I would for sure go back when I'm in town!
