When it comes to convenience stores, Avenue Fine Foods is the Porsche of corner markets. It's clean, mature, the staff rules, and they have all sorts of haute couture food items to satisfy any epicurean that struts through their front doors seeking out the finer things in life. Looking for some organic fruits and veggies to go hand-in-hand with a pack of all-natural, hipster-approved American Spirit cigarettes and a bottle of moonshine? They've got you covered!

Good selection of high quality produce and beverages with no. Other shop immediately around. Just don't look for a bargain

Avenue Fine Foods is a great place to get anything you may need in a pinch. Short of butchered meats, this place should have it, conveniently. You will pay a little extra for that convenience, but it is worth it. The evening shopkeep Kenny is the man, and he will hook you up with a great sandwich if you want one, or any advice you may need.
The deli has a cleanliness rating of 100, and the sandwiches are stout. Tons of booze and wine, snacks, produce, and lotto tickets galore. Great times are to be had by going to Avenue Fine Foods, I guarantee it. -

I think "Fine Food" should be dropped from the name of this market. There is nothing particularly refined about the basic products contained in this store.
Anyone looking for the most basic "ethnic" food ingredients or supplies, such as chutney or tortillas, will be out of luck. To be fair, though, this establishment is located in an area where foot traffic is limited, and cultural diversity is lacking. Therefore, I should be grateful for what this store is able to supply when I am in need of the most basic items, such as flour, cake mix, chicken broth or sugar.
This place has a friendly neighborhood vibe, and I am pleased that this establishment is so close to my home. The deli also produces satisfactory meals. -

I have been shopping at Avenue Fine Foods for years and I have to say the guys that work there are the nicest bunch of guys, especially the owner! I can always rely on a great sandwich (love the tuna) and friendly service. It reminds me of having that favorite deli in NYC but right here in SF. They have very convenient hours so if you're running late to a party, this is the place to pick up the bottle you're supposed to bring. I am so thankful they are in my neighborhood!!

Besides the overpriced everything, this place is awesome enough to forget the burn on your wallet. A regular stomping grounds for booze, cigs and whatever you can scavenge for dinner when you don't order out.
George and staff are always super nice and friendly and really give the neighberhood the general store it needs and deserves. A great place to feed your hungry little dog a piece of deli meat.
They make great sandwhichs, although I wish they would switch their cold cuts to Boar's Head brand, but we are spoiled to be able to get sandwhichs so close to home.
Avenue Fine Foods also has a 100 food cleanliness rating.
No roaches here. -

I love you Avenue Fine Foods. I love your chilled wine section and buying champagne from you when I crave it. I love your selection of beer and the fact that i can always get a big romaine lettuce/salad dressing and tomatoes and some potatoes for dinner if we don't have anything else in the house. I love that you carry cat food and toilet paper and all my essential gossip mags/design mags.
I love George and Kenny for their ability to make the best sammies in the city. (i love their pastrami sand which on multigrain roll. YUM)
This is my neighborhood staple. I live right across the street and without a doubt go in there once a day or even twice or three on weekends!!!Listed in: My Neighborhood

I am absolutely addicted to the sandwiches these guys make at the little deli counter! Only in moments of extreme necessity have I bought outrageously priced groceries here, but I do stop in for a sandwich at least once a week. Okay, maybe that's partly because I only have to walk half a block. Then again, I'd probably walk at least 8 blocks uphill for the sandwiches. They are pretty generous with the meat, which is thinly sliced - just the way I like it. My favorite (and, admittedly, the only sandwich I've tried) is turkey with provolone on Dutch crunch....delicious.
UPDATE: Salami and provolone is my new favorite. -

Ken's a good dude.. If you don't know who Ken is, look for the guy with an eye-patch, a parrot on his shoulder, and hella females all over him because of his late-night slow jam radio voice.
Dude makes sandwiches that stankify your breath but its all good cuz some stank breath is worth it for a ridiculous sammich. -

Hands down the best neighborhood market in the city! Great deli, good selection of pretty much anything you would ever need and quite possibly the most immaculate market I have ever walked into in SF.
George (owner) and Ken definitely add to the friendly neighborhood feel.
Safeway should be really sad as they have lost a lot of the money I would have normally spent there...but why would I want to deal with that disaster when I have Avenue A right down the street! -

Stop by to get juicy delicious deli sandwich made to order at Fine Food Market! Their homemade cole slaw is quite tasty too!

There's nothing sexier than self-confidence, ambition, intelligence (esp the finer points of economics) and a sense of humour. Avenues Fine Food Market, the only shop on the block, clearly has a combination of all these qualities to price Vueve Clicquot at $56 a bottle.

Super convenient neighborhood store! And when I say convenient, I mean I could chuck a penny from my window and it would probably hit the signage (not that I would ever do a thing like that!). I've really only bought a banana from here (to practice on for later that night), but they're very nice about exchanging quarters so I can pretend to be super domestic and do my laundry like a wife-in-training. A sista's gotta make herself more marketable to old rich men in this economy! HOLLA!

Damn, I am lucky to have this place so close to me. They have a kick ass deli counter, and all the booze a girl could need for a night out....or a night in!
Listed in: It's a Miracle, I can walk!

Small neighborhood grocery stores...a necessity in a hilly town that eschews Safeways on every corner. I rely HEAVILY on this teeny tiny, yet well-stocked mart for everything normal (Real Foods has yet to see the necessity of stocking Nutter Butters, Gatorade, Paydays/Snickers, and my fave must-have, Cherry Pop Tarts)...and Walgreens is WAY too far away when TP has suddenly run out. Anyway, Kenny is always very accommodating when I need quarters for laundry or a fab sandwich (for those moments cooking just seems like too much effort & I'm tired of microwaved mac 'n cheese). Pricey, (but convenient) and always good for a remark from envious visitors from other neighborhoods who gaze at the super-packed rows and remark with amazement, "I wish my corner store carried Fresh Scoop litter, too...that sh*&'s heavy!"

This is my neighborhood steady. I stop in and get my magazines, soy chips, coffee, and beer from time to time. The same staff has been there since I moved to SF 4 years ago. I look forward to seeing them. They also feed my dog turkey scraps and special order snack items (salt and vinegar soy chips) Hmmm. One word of advice do not buy wine here ( I think Sutter Home is about 20 bucks). Do buy sandwiches they are awesome.

This place is awesome! It is on my bike ride home and I stop in for a healthy turkey sandwich sometimes. They make great sandwiches. Always very clean, heaps of meat, fresh bread and veggies. Friendly fast service, great deli, fresh fruit...great little neighborhood grocery store. I always love seeing the line of people waiting for sandwiches at lunch time...I'm so glad people know this place and come to it.

Really friendly and fast. The only things they're missing are fresh strawberries, Boca Burgers, and fat free ice cream. Other than that, this is a cute deli that has it all!

Reliable, convenient store but moody owners, with prices that seem to change according to the moods. Sometimes there's parking available out front when you run in.

Great local market! One of the guys that works there is great! Everything is overpriced but there is a great selection of most things...food, freshfood, sandwiches, wine, beer. Closes kind of early also.

Now, I know what you're thinking - if a grocery store has an AWNING it can't be all that legit. And you're right, this place is not going to replace your monthly CostCo run, but if you are in the neighborhood and you need anything from heavy cream to bags of baby spinach to a pint of ben and jerry's to help cure a long day - these guys have it... and even though parking is heinous, if you walk there, you can burn off the calories from the fro-yo!
