What a treasure.
I went there because everything in the entire area was closed for the season (May 1st.).
Extremely glad to have found it.
Food is wonderful, service is terrific and prices are moderate.
My late lunch was the grilled turkey with peppers, cheese and onions....oh yum. I chose the salad rather than fries.
The salad was a very pleasant variety of different greens...no ice berg lettuce.
The cafe and bathroom were very clean.
Lots on the menu looked delicious....will go there again and again as I live within an hours drive.....any excuse to get back to the Redwoods.
Make this one of your stops....you won't be disappointed. -

Miranda, California. What a great small town tucked into the redwoods. Avenue Cafe is a great part of that. R and I each got two slices of different specialty pizzas. Slice 1: Azteca. Pepperoni, jalapenos, onions, fresh cilantro. Giant leaves of cilantro! I could see all the seeds in the jalapenos. I had never thought of cilantro on pizza and I love cilantro on everything. Slice 2: Romanella. Fresh basil leaves, kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh garlic, fresh onions. A solid Greekesque pizza. Slice 3: A standard meat lovers. Slice 4: Agli-Olio. Fresh basil, ricotta, onions, olive oil, fresh tomatoes, fresh garlic.
All the toppings were excellent, but what really allowed the pizza to pop was the crust. Full of flavor. Crunchy, but not burned, not too thin either.
Service was ok. Felt like we were taking the server away from a conversation she was having with a friend. -

Warm breakfast in this lively, cozy cafe really hit the spot after breaking camp at Burlington and before heading out to hit the hiking trails in the giant redwoods.
The owner and waitress I visited with hadn't heard of Yelp, and yet Yelp was how we found them that morning. -

I see most people had the pizza or calzones. We went here because it was the only place open for miles. That and we had worked up quite a hunger laughing ourselves silly at the girls selling shitty advice for a dollar down the street. It is very casual and even though the pizza smelled delicious I went with the grilled turkey sandwich. That sandwich was one of the best I have ever had - it was grilled with mushrooms and some really good cheese. Service was amazing. I wish I lived closer - I would definitely be a regular.

Staff is really nice & the food is really good. Went to this cafe twice during my visit to the Redwoods, once for lunch and once for breakfast.... the Avenue Pizza and garlic bread are so good and for breakfast Id recommend the Charola plate & French Toast.

Great Food and Great atmosphere! Drove down Avenue of the Giants on the way from Eureka to Ukiah, and were starving by the time we got down the Avenue.
The Calzones are HUGE and delicious! (even though it took almost 30 mins to cook)
Salad was great!
Ravioli's marinara sauce was a little watery but still good
Garlic Bread was delicious
Waitress was friendly :-) -

A friendly place, turned out to be opened when most of the competition was closed.
Good food for the price, the only somewhat disturbing shortcoming - quite a few flies roaming through the dining room, can only think of how it is in the kitchen :) -

We stopped in for lunch on our drive from the redwoods to SF - great food & casual. It was a beautiful sunny day and we sat outside on the patio - you can see some redwoods across the street, but nothing dramatic. Everyone enjoyed their food, wait staff was wonderful. Would definitely stop in again!

Phenomenal little cafe in Miranda California! We stopped here while cycling Hwy 1, for some sandwiches and Pizza. The place is incredibly friendly, and incredibly good - I mean way better than the jaded traveler might expect from a little place in a little town.

Great service, great omelets, good prices, and quite possibly the only restaurant in this little town. My GF and I stayed at the Miranda Gardens across the street and ended up eating here twice. She ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito both days. I had a basic breakfast one day and the ABC (Avocado, Bacon, and Cheddar) omelet the other day. Never before have I had someone ask me how I would like my bacon prepared (I tend to prefer floppy bacon, but can never get it that way), but they prepared it perfectly to my stated desire.
We'll definitely do breakfast here again, when we visit the redwoods in spring of 2011.

We were thinking we would have to drive a half hour to find food but luckily we found this place. We are kind of picky about the places we eat but were pleasantly surprised. We went in a little less than an hour before closing and it seemed like a friendly local crowd. Our waitress was telling funny stories at the bar and our food was amazing. We ordered garlic cheese fries and I got a calzone that could feed three people. We're from New York and Italian so it takes a lot for us to rave about Italian food. It was very affordable too, two drinks an appetizer and two meals was $30. Definitely stop by!

This was our second visit to The Avenue Cafe. On the first visit, I had the french dip with salad, husband had philly cheese steak sandwich. The bread they use is very tasty. On the second trip, I had the burger and husband had the chicken parmesean sandwich. On both occasions, we were happy with the service and the food. This is our choice for a meal when we travel North and want to avoid the crowds in Garberville.
