I've been here several times now for microdermabraions and Kristy does a pretty good job. She is nice but she pushes the products too much. Everytime I go, its the same thing, what are you using on your face? I hate having to go over it all the time. If I were interested in new products I wouldn't mind but I just want my facial and we can make other small talk, I actually enjoy the sound of her voice.
They have some good specials and that is what really keeps me coming back. Like the package I bought for the micro was a great deal, but normally its expensive.
I have to say that I am not a fan of this place. Everyone was nice and the atmosphere was relaxing but it didn't work for me. I have been there a few times for a peel and microderm and I feel like every time I go, my skin is worse. One person I saw was so pushy with the products there too! I have had these treatments in the past and kept telling the ladies which peel I wanted and what worked best on me in the past and they didn't listen. I now go to another place in Lakeview and my skin looks absolutely amazing!
For awhile, I was searching everywhere for a good bikini wax. I was referred here from a friend, but I can't say I loved it. Out of the places I went, I think this was the worst brazillian I've had yet (but it wasn't bad at all). I was left with a few ingrowns and still a bit sticky, which I was not fond of on my ride back home. I think that would've been alright had it not been for the price; it was a bit pricey for that kind of service.
Overall, not great and not horrible; I've just had better.
I've been to Avanti a few times for services. I love them! They are so friendly.
Roseanna is great! She is very gentle and attentive.
Avanti is awesome. I see kristi for laser and she makes the process so easy undergo!! We laugh and chat all through the procedure and gab about the new kids concerts and before I know it the laser is over. She is awesome and is totally honest with you about what you need and don't need.. She doesn't push services on you at all.. Xoxo!
This review is only for Dr. Ghidorzi's botox injections he gave me. It was my first time getting botox, and all I really wanted to know was whether or not it hurt. The doctor had a great bedside manner and he answered all my questions before I agreed to the service. I was shocked at how painless it was. I was expecting to be red, bruised, etc but I wasn't. I probably asked 10 minutes worth of questions for a treatment that lasted under a minute. I had 18 units injected around my eyes and it cost $270. I have no idea if this price is competitive vs. other day/med spas in the area, but I felt very comfortable with him and will definitely go back. Being comfortable with the doctor is worth more to me than shopping around for the lowest price.

I got a facial at Avanti and loved it! The service was great and the spa itself has a nice, relaxing feel to it. I was very pleased with the results. I highly recommend them!
I visited Avanti after being referred for Pretty City promotion, the treatment I was seeking was the Pumpkin enzyme facial. I have to confess that I'm a trained esthetician although since having children I haven't practiced. I wanted to add something a little more cleansing, so Renee booked me for a mini-facial and the pumpkin enzyme. I was a little disappointed, I had hoped for more massage and a little more pampering. Kristi is beyond nice, but I had hoped for a little more. I will try again with a full facial and see how it goes.......
Avanti always has great specials going on and you can usually find discount coupons online. I recently had a facial with Jenni and thought she was great. She spent a lot of time asking questions about my skin type and was very comforting and careful while I was having not-so-comfy extractions done. The staff didn't try to push their skin care products on me, as some of the other reviews have eluded to. I will definitely go back.
This place is great. I've been seeing Lisa for waxing for over a year- she's fantastic. Also tried the laser hair removal and it was actually pain free and effective.
What a nice place. I just started going here for microderm treatments and so far my skin looks great. The aesthetician( Roseanna) is very informative and has been able to answer all of my questions. She is like a walking book of skin knowledge. I will admit that I was taken back by how young she looks but so far I am very pleased. This place is worth a try.
I've come here three times for Pretty in Pink laser hair removal sessions (offered in October and February). Lisa has been my technician twice, and she is so friendly and professional in the way she instructs and informs you of how the procedure is going be. The effectiveness and pain during the treatment depends on what type of laser is used on you, and I've experienced two types of lasers here. But remember: "No pain, no gain." The receptionists are also extremely friendly all the time. They've asked me everytime if I want to commit to a package, but I just say no, and they're respectful of it.
Yes, the staff is warm and friendly. Yes, the place is nicely decorated and cozy. I agree with all of that . . . but the problem is that Avanti's laser hair removal system does not work. I bought two packages--bikini and underarm. I had over 10 treatments on both areas and only saw an improvement of about 25-30%. Not to mention, the woman was just not thorough or consistent with how she used the laser on me. She missed spots, etc. I assumed that there was something wrong with me and my hair, but then I recently made an appointment at "hair today gone tomorrow" on clybourn. I decided to just do one underarm treatment to see if their laser worked. After ONE treatment, 95% of my underarm hair is gone. I only need one more treatment. And the price is way better than Avanti, because they have fantastic specials. "Hair today gone tomorrow" is kind of a dump on the inside, and is not classy like Avanti, but at least it actually works. I am so disappointed and annoyed that I wasted thousands at Avanti. DONT GO HERE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL.

I went here for a microdermabrasion special of $50 (half off the regular price). I was completely disappointed, and I don't think I've ever felt as uncomfortable as I did there. The waiting room was decently nice, as were the girls at the front desk. To get to the room, though, you have to go through a locked hallway, which was kind of weird. I can understand a slightly abbreviated version of a service for the Pretty City specials ($31), but for $50, I expect at the very least 15 minutes of microderm (half the normal amount of time). This microderm literally lasted 5 minutes, and the rest of the time the woman layered product after product on my face. I'm pretty sure I went there for microderm, not a facial. My skin is very sensitive and prone to breakouts, so I avoid any kind of product that I'm not familiar with-including facials. To make matters worse, the ENTIRE 45 minutes I was drilled about which products I was using on my face, and how I needed to switch to something else. I still can't believe how pushy she was about it. I was scheduled for a peel the following weekend as part of the Pretty City special, but I canceled it. If that's what you get for $50, I don't even want to know what you get for $31! I'm mostly disappointed because I was looking for a place to start going for microderm regularly, but I will never return to Avanti. Now I know why all the dermatologists I've been to in the past have told me to always see a real dermatologist for skin treatments.
I really like this place and Christy in particular. I'm a total cheap skate when it comes to paying for spa services- so the only time you'll see me with an appointment is if they are doing a special, ie: $50 for microderm. Get on their e-mail list to find out about the specials (they only e-mail avery two or three months). They are always super-nice and helpful. I don't get treated like someone paying less for a service, even though they know I am paying less. They have wonderful skin care products- one line in particular that I really like is Skinceuticals. I would recommend this place to anyone who feels like getting pampered, but doesn't want to pay the big bucks!
Made an appointment with Lisa for bikini wax and when I arrived they told me Lisa was sick and I would be seeing Roseanne. She was nice enough but did a terrible waxing job, left patches of hair, and didn't moisturize afterwards. Within days, i had small bumps all over and uneven hair growth. A waste of money...I will not be going back.
