Stumble upon all the great raves about this place. I didn't have time to do price shopping but this is the only website that listed the price. Called, made appointment with Steven. Came on my appointment and Vince is the one who's working on my car window. my car got mini windows, so, total of big 5 windows and 4 sides, are about $284.00. They got it done in 2 hours.
They told me to not open the window for the next 4-5 days after the window tint.
If it ever bubbles up, it's a lifetime guarantee, just come back, they'll fix it. Yess!!!!
All nice happy crews. I like that. Thank you Vince & Steven!
{PS. They speaks Cantonese & presumably mandarin too, if that made your life easier}
Waiting area? Just go to Whole Foods or the SF Mall. It's a close walking distance. Oh, Buca di Beppo also around the corner, if you like pasta and not mall foods. -

Earlier this year, I decided to bring my Lexus in to Auto Tech to get the windows tinted based on my buddy's recommendation. He had brought his BMW in a couple of weeks before and raved about how well everything turned out, so I decided to give them a call. While I was already leaning towards going to them anywyays, the fact that their estimate was cheaper than the place I originally had in mind sealed the deal.
From the beginning of my experience to the very end, I was very impressed by the quality of service I received. When I showed up for my appointment, both Vincent and Steven came up and greeted me. They showed me the different tint options they offered, and discussed which would be best for what I wanted. As they looked over my car, they showed me how the defogger strips on my rear windshield popped out more than most cars. Since this meant it was harder for the tint to seal property, it was going to take an extra hour to get the work done. Although that was a bummer to hear, I liked how they were going to take the time to do it right rather than just rush through it to get the job finished.
I ended up coming back about four hours later, and they were just finishing up. The tint looked fantastic and it turned out just how I wanted - relatively dark from the outside, but only a subtle change from the inside. Even now, about six months later, I still couldn't be happier. The tint has held up great, and I haven't had a single problem. More importantly, no bubbling of any kind either (which was one of my bigger fears). Then again, even if it did, they provide a lifetime warranty anyways. Just bring it in, and they'll fix it.
Before I left the shop, both Steven and Vincent made it a point to tell me not to touch the tint or roll down the windows for three to four days. They even went as far as to put tape over all of the window switches inside, just in case. Talk about thorough! What I liked most about these guys though, was how honest they were about the price. Even though the correct estimate should have been $250, they said they would honor the $200 price I was quoted over the phone. Sure, it was their mistake anyways, but I appreciated we didn't have to squabble over it. For that and the great work they did, I'll be sure to bring my next car(s) in as well. -

The lil sis just got a brand spanking new car & wanted the windows tinted, but didn't want to pay the $875 quoted by the dealer, so she did some research and found Auto Tech Tinting (with rave reviews on Yelp!). She called & got an estimate of $229. and an appointment for the next day at 10:00AM.
We pulled in right on time and the guy (sorry, didn't catch his name) was there before we even turned off the engine and helped her decide which tints to get. Then he told us it would take a couple of hours and he'd call us about noon.
So we walked over to Market to the Westfield Mall and did some window shopping and grabbed some lunch before heading around 11:30AM. By the time we got there, it was almost noon. The guy who helped us earlier wasn't there, but another guy was and he recognized us and took care of the payment. Btw, actual cost was $233.00, but close enough to the $229.00 estimate.
He advised us not to roll down the windows for 4 days and even put blue tape on the window buttons to prevent us from using it. He also told us not to use any chemicals to clean the inside of the windows - JUST WATER!
So far, the tinting looks good and he said to call him anytime if there is any bubbling.
I don't intend on tinting the windows of my 10+ year old car, but if I did, I'd probably go here! -

I have been working with Vincent since 2000 with my Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. He put in a stereo and tinted my windows. Next the wife had her windows tinted and in 2007 I brought him my new Toyota Tundra for a stereo and window tinting. He has everything in stock-a rarity these days. So I went shopping at Westfield Mall and when I came back 3 hours later it was done. I have never had to bring anything back for a redo and Vincent's prices are very competitive-like a start up-hungry for work.

I waited 6 months to write this review and I'm happy to say the film is still good as new, no bubbling and still love it. Dropped off my car in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon. Under $300 for window tinting and keyless entry. Highly recommended.

Vincent and the crew at Auto Tech Tinting are the best at what they do! I had them tint my 07 Lexus GS350 and it came out SUPER CLEAN!
I called in early in the morning, got quote and a same day appointment. These guys know all about the legalities of the front window tints and make great recommendations.
I picked my tint %s and walked downtown to grab some lunch. I came back about an hour and a half later and they were all done! Got all 7 windows for $299 (which is a fair price for good work). They also told me if I have any problems with it to let them know and they'll fix it!
Great work done by good honest people. Already referred a few friends here and suggest you do the same. -

These guys are the best! They are patient (I could not decide which tint to go with), efficient, and fastidious. After a lot of deliberation I went with their recommendation and got the 35% on the rear and sides and 45% on the front windows on a silver coupe BMW. It looks classy and blocks out the right amount of light for me, without risking a pull-over by the po-po. The work was done about a month ago, and they assured me that if there were any bubbles or problems, I could swing by and they would fix it. So far, no bubbles and no problems. I am a very satisfied customer.
Bonus: My car is almost 10 years old, and as such, some parts are wearing out. The rubber molding strips around the window and door have been slowly peeling off. I replaced the passenger side for what I thought was an outrageous cost of $1000. The guys here at the shop offered to try to glue the rubber molding on the driver side, which I had double-sided sticky taped. A for effort, but epic failure with my tape! They used an industrial spray glue that completely did the trick, and looks clean and professional. Best of all, they did it for free and with a smile! I highly recommend this place. -

First-rate service from this establishment.
I had five windows done on my GTI on a drop-in basis (noon-time on a sunny Saturday). The owner had several cars ahead of me, and managed to fit the car in for a late-pm pick-up.
Very straight-forward transaction as I knew which tints I wanted. These guys did a terrific job.
My GTI looks even better!! -

Excellent service! We called about scheduling a window tinting for our new Saab and they gave us an appt for the same day. We went in and he gave us an all cash discount of no tax and drove us to the movies while they did the tinting. Vincent is the best! Our car looks amazing! So happy with our choice.

This tint place is one of the best one i have been to so far, i have had 3 previous cars tinted before at different shops in the city and auto tech by far is the best one i have been too. The cuts on the tint are pretty clean and straight unlike some other places. They hand cut the tint in order to fit your windows instead of using a machine to automatically cut the film, which I find is more accurate. the film they use all have black tint in them unlike some other places that have a brown silhouette to them. Service is pretty good and the install was excellent. I would recommend anyone who needs tint to try this shop out.

ridiculously awesome guys. took in my m3 for tinting -- great work! courteous service, honest advice and quick turnaround.
a couple of days in, i had a small bubble form near the very bottom edge of the driver's side window (likely due to the fact that the window slides up and down automatically when you open and close your door). vincent met me AT HIS HOUSE at 8PM on a weeknight and fixed the bubble. i've never seen people so dedicated to their customers with such a sense of pride and ownership of their work. every car i get is going to get tinted here. -

These guys consistently deliver a terrific experience.
I have had 5 cars done here now... 2 Jettas, a Scion, a Lexus and now a brand new 370Z...
Work is always done professionally, clean and timely.
They are always willing to go over the work, touch up anything you may question, even if it is a water drop...
I will not only continue to take my vehicles here but will always recommend them.
Thanks for ANOTHER great job!! -

this review is purely on the estimate...
I just called Autotech and the person who answered the phone quoted my 07 honda civic at $299 for 9 windows....for those of you that don't know the windows of my car 4 of the 9 are SUPER small windows, so in reality it's 5 large windows and 4 small ones...this seems steep to me, especially when i see that everyone else is quoting between $200-250. is this me being super sensitive? or is that the correct amount?!?!
So my boyfriend called for another estimate, same car, and low and behold they quoted him $50 cheaper....so, yeah, i don't really trust a place that doesn't have set prices! -

Just a heads up, the review here is not directly for a tinting services received from them but service to a potential customer nonetheless. Some idiot smashed my passenger's side window so I was on the hunt for someone that would be able to repair it quickly.
Since he had something similar happen to him, Rich W. suggested I give Vince at Auto Tech a call. Vince couldn't do the job himself but said he could refer someone to me that would be solid as soon as he could access the info at his office. Five minutes later, I received a call and off I was to Expert Auto Care to get my window fixed. Much props to Vince for the help even though he couldn't do the work himself. -

Took us a looong while to decide on the tinting levels (15%, 30%, 40%) but everything worked out well. We had our Subaru tinted here two months ago and we were/are quite happy. Fair negotiated rate with lifetime warranty and done quickly as promised. Just make sure you don't touch the windows for two days as they instruct. They even taped the window buttons so habit doesn't override.
P.S. I am not a friend of anyone working here. The comment from John S made me skeptical to go here, but very glad I didn't have to leave town. -

Came in for to get my 2010 Acura TL tinted. Spoke with Vincent who has friendly and extremely helpful. He was able to get the work done quickly and extremely well executed. He even drove me back to my office in his car. Super helpful. I'm planning to come back to get my wife's car done here soon.

Looking for rockin' tints? This is the place to go in the Bay Area. They've got great prices, they back up their work with a lifetime guarantee against bubbling or peeling, they're friendly, and they do top-notch, ultra-precise work.
Nuff said. Get your tints here, ya hear?
And remember to not use any chemical cleaners on the inside of your windows, once they're been tinted. Just water.
I recommend the full-on 5% tints, which look sweeeeet on my 2010 silver Prius, and blends right in with the glassy black spoiler on the back. To stay legal, you'll have to do much less dark tints on the front windows, though. -

Let me say right off, that I didn't go to Auto Tech. This review is for my experience when I called around to shop prices at different tinting shops.
First Call: Gave them basic info on my car. Auto Tech quoted me $225 for 5 windows.
Second Call: I asked a few basic tinting questions about legal % tint, installation, etc. After giving same basic info on my case, I asked for a price and the guy hesitated, "Uhh... $250."
The impression I got from Auto Tech was that since I asked questions (the 2nd time), I sounded like a noob and they COULD charge me more.
The non-uniform pricing and my perception of their predatory pricing leads me to give them the negative review. -

Vincent (the owner) tinted the windows on my 2002 BMW M3. I'm a car nut, have done business with lots of independent shops, and have had tint done on most of my street cars, so I'm a pretty harsh critic.
Even so, I was happy with their service, attention to detail on the tint job, and the price ($250 for 5 windows). The look of the shop and the location might put some people off, but the work is top notch, the guys who work there are courteous, and the price was reasonable. -

Two weeks ago I went to Auto Tech Tint (ATT) to get my 2007 Toyota Prius 10 windows tinted. I found ATT in the advertiser an read it's reviews on Yelp.
I was concerned about this business as John S. had a very poor experience. I called and spoke to Vincent (mgr), he quoted me $280 which was comparable to other shops. The shop is a typical car stereo install shop - two blocks from the Hall of Justice on 5th street.
As I arrived three guys where on staff and I was quoted 2hrs to get the tint job completed. I selected % of shade for front & rear windows, and the guys got started. Within 1 1/2 hours they were done. They guaranteed their work and told me to keep the windows closed for three days to allow the tint to take shape. You could get your windows tinted anywhere, but 1 1/2 hours is awesome - time is money!
So far no issues - I highly recommend this shop, make sure you bring in the Advertiser ad for best price.

These guys are fast, efficient, friendly and to high quality work. I am very satisfied with price, guarantee (lifetime!), level of customer service and overall experience.
But keep an eye out on the following:
Two guys own this shop and they both work in the shop tinting cars. One guy will give you a lower price then the other guy. Having read that in a previous post I was looking out for this. YOU SHOULD TOO!
If someone quotes you a price over the phone (my quote was $200 for limo tint 3 rear windows) ASK FOR THE NAME of the person giving you the price. Because when you go into the shop and the other partner rings you up (like it happened to me) he will charge you more than the quoted prices (my price from second owner was $225 to which I kindly refused and had him ring me up the price i was quoted on the phone).
So in summary, make sure you get the name of the guy who quotes you a price. Come in expecting great quality work because you will not be disappointed. -

I went to get the windows on my VW Passat tinted on Saturday. I chose the 5% and 35% combo. The guys there explained everything to me beforehand and helped me make the best choice.
They tool a little longer that originally planned which was fine. The end product was great and my car looks amazing. -

I had 7 windows tinted for a 2001 Acura TL for $250, not including tax. They worked pretty fast as a team. Two months later, no blemishes of any kind on my car.
Pro: will do as you wish. They recommended going with the lightest tints for the front which worked out well. Good customer services.
Con: wish they had super dark tint.
Overall, good experience. I would go back for another car back to the shop. Bring a book if you cannot stay for a couple of hrs. or so. Or shop.... :) -

I just purchased the brand new honda accord. and looking to get the windows tinted. Most of the place that I shop around they need to take the door panel out that make me feel worry and uncomfortable. I call and talk to STEVEN , the super nice guy. He understand the feeling when you just got a brand new car.He insisted that he don't need to take door panel out.
So I make appointment to get window tinted. They are so professional. 3 guys work on my car.It take only 1 hours 45 mins
The price is more expensive than other shop.but it worth for extra money. The high quality johnson films, Obviously it reduce heat A LOT even I got only 45% for all 7 window. plus no bubble at all window to bother me. Thank you steven to make my car look super cool. -

For those in the City, this is the place to go. Got the rear windows on a Prius tinted 20% for $200 with lifetime warranty in about 1 1/2 hours.
Shop is close to Market St. and the Westfield mall, so you can kill the time pretty fast. Got there on a weekday morning, and I was the only car. Recommended. -

I decided to "murder-out" my windows on my new Benz. My car guy recommended this place and told me they did a fantastic job. The reviews on yelp definitely proved it as well. I took my car in on a Friday afternoon. The shop was small and had cars lined up to get worked on. They do a great job having one car picked up and then bringing one in to work on. I decided to do all 7 windows (I know....if I get pulled over, I'll bat my eyelashes and show some cleavage) at 35%. Came out to about $260. Awesome deal and great tint job. Any problems, come on back. That should be their motto.

Needed to get the tint removed off my front two windows after an awesome chipper passed up on giving a ticket to someone doing 20 over to write me up for my windows. Anyway, sorry for the rant, made a few calls and found these guys were by far the cheapest for the removal. Some of the other places on this list were looking to get $45 PER WINDOW to remove my tint. Puh-leaze, at that price, i'll do it myself and live with the sticky residue until I can get some solvent to take it off. However, Auto Tech was much lower than that and were able to get it done 30min after I dropped it off. And they're located up the street from the CHP building for the ticket sign off. Bonus!

tinted windows rule. at least in the illegal sense.
fact: I didn't want to go here in the first place. the cops told me that my ghetto cruiser was too ghetto, so yelp brought me here.
Since they didn't open until 10 I couldn't take it straight in, so I took it in at 1 during my lunch. He said "ok half hour" and I said ok dude but i can't get it for another 3 hours. He looked kinda weary, and I understand I guess, since their shop is small, they can't have a buncha cars piling up. but still, I wasn't about to stay there for 30 minutes. after a little effort, he conceded. I picked it up at 5. my worst fear was realized...my car looked terribly normal. no longer can I roll around SF looking like a shady ass mofo. I'm now on the road to chauncey-ville.
but yeah, they did what they were supposed to do, and there's no sticky goo on the windows. maybe I'll retint again, if I'm feeling daring, and I'll definitely go back to them.
but seriously, fuck the pigs. -

Vince and Steven were very professional and gave me excellent advise as to how dark I should tint my new Mercedes. The care and detailed work they did with the installation was fantastic. I'm 100% pleased with their work. I will definitely recommend my friends and family.
