I always believe that we get the price that we paid for. When it comes to tinting windows on my brand new car, I wanted the job to be done right! After shopping around for price quotes, it seems like the average good rate to get 5 windows tinted is around $300. After checking out for good reviews on Yelp, I came upon the Auto Mall Tint Specialist in Fremont. I've never heard of this place before, nor had anyone recommended this place to me. Finding this location was purely based on its Yelp reviews. I called them in the middle of a week, got a price quote from them, and I was able to set up an appointment that same week for a Friday morning.
When I arrived on May 22nd, 2009; the individual who helped me and installed my tints was Gerardo. He gave me all of the information for each tint material and his own suggestions. The original quote was $300 for all 5 windows, but I decided to pay more as I decided to have a better material installed on my 2 fronts windows.
I went with the SunTek HP tints at $200 for my 3 rear windows. For my fronts, I got the V-Kool tints (which meets California's legal requirements) at $250 for the 2 front windows. They allow more light and resist more heat than the SunTek HP material.
Based on the time of the week and whether the you pay with credit or cash, the price is negotiable. At the price of $450 for having all of my 5 windows tinted with a life-time warranty; I was expecting quality and professional work done on my new car, which is exactly what I got!
Gerardo installed the tints on my car and after he was done, he gave me a complete run-down on taking care of my tints. He also reminded me about the "water bubbles" on the V-Kool tints and that they will go away approximately in 30 days. Everything about my tints were perfect, but I was keeping a very close eye on those "water bubbles". After spending $250 for only 2 window tints, I was expecting perfection. After 1 month, the majority of the "water bubbles" did disappear, but there were still quite a few that were very visible. After 2 months, there were still a couple of "water bubbles" that didn't seem to evaporate; so I was very worried. I finally wrote an e-mail from their website and Sidney Lee wrote back to me within minutes! He was very helpful and a complete professional. Due to his reassurance, I waited for another month; and finally, the last of the "water bubbles" eventually dried away.
The overall price for having my 5 windows tinted was high; but you're paying for the tints' quality, its reliability and their excellent & professional service. My window tints look great and I'm a very satisfied customer!
Sidney did my ES350 and Gerardo did my 300SEL in 2007. Over two years later, there's been absolutely no problem with my VKool & Suntek tints (remember not to use amonia to clean the windows). Initially there were some small air/liquid bubbles but they went away after about 2~3 weeks.
I chose Auto Mall Tint Specialist after researching on the Internet and finding Sidney Lee to be the one that is recommended in most of the forums. He is knowledgeable and does a great job. Subtle proceses such as pre-shaping the tints to the curvature of the windows really makes a big difference long term.
Now, this place is NOT cheap. If you're the type that always shop at Walmart for the low prices and don't mind getting the lower-quality stuff that you paid for, you should not be coming here. It's like going to a nice restaurant expecting to pay 99 cents for your food. 99 cents gets you a soft taco at Taco Bell.
To the lone "2-star" yelper: Your expectations are ludicrous and complaints frivolous. Go to Taco Bell.
Simply outstanding. Sidney talked me through the options and was very patient as I went back and forth about 20 times. Gerardo did outstanding work on my Civic and my wife's Fit, and I'm about to take in a third car for tinting. My first two are a year and about 7 months old, and so far are holding up very well. I'm no expert, but I've had bad tinting work done on prior cars and can really see a difference in quality. It's definitely worth paying a few extra bucks. Thanks Sidney and Gerardo!
Dropped in this afternoon to get my car's front side windows tinted. The gentleman who worked on my car, Burch (pardon me if i misspelled your name kind sir) did an awesome job. He's very meticulous and took his time, the end result was top notch...couldn't be happier. I will definately be coming back here for my next car. Auto mall Tint Specialist, you have a customer for life. :)

I hired Auto Mall Tint to do the front and back door windows on my new car, which included removing too-dark tint that the dealer had installed. Instead of quoting me the most expensive film, they suggested the best value. Virgil did the work and it looks great, no issues, and he's a great guy. Highly recommended.
Nice place! Can't say that I've had many tint experiences, but I was very nervous about this trip. Too many horror stories of bubbles, bad, cracked tint, rip off, etc, I was hesitant to say the least.
Price wasn't unreasonable and I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for. Gerardo was nice and friendly and got the job done fast. I called on a Thursday at 11:30am, was in at 1:30pm and out by 3:45pm. Looks gorgeous and I couldn't be happier.
I went across the way and hung out at the shopping center there- plenty to do! Definitely come here if you need your windows done.
while calling around and getting a wide range of prices, i then called Auto Mall Tint Spelialist and talked to Verg. after spending only a few minutes on the phone with him, i could tell that this shop was not like all the others and immediately scheduled an appointment.
after my car was done and i came back in to pick-it up and inspect the installation Verg had done for me, it was readily apparent that i chose the shop that really seemed to have the best knowledge and experience in the industry.
my car looked GREAT! excellent workmanship...supreme customer service...fair price! what more can you ask for??
this is not the cheap shop in town, but you get what you pay for and i got the best! ~~~ thanks guys!
Thanks to Sydney and Tom who did a fine job tinting my wife's 4 door Civic.
We are having a baby and wanted to make sure the back seat stays nice and shaded for the little one. Since we were there we also went for the hi-tec 3m film on the front windows. You can barely see the tint since it isn't dark but it really cuts down on heat and UV. Well worth doing and I'm sure won't cause and legal issues since it really is barely noticeable.
Aside from the great installation I would recommend them most because of how professional they are. Great service makes all the difference which I'm sure is why they are so successful.
I would recommend them to friends or family.
Sidney at Automall tint specialist does such a good job. This is the third car that I got tinted here. I previously had and Civic and Lexus IS 350 done ~3-4 years ago and the tints are still great! This time, I was bringing in my brand new G37 coupe. I also recommended two other friends to get their tints done here and they were very satisfied with the results. He was very knowledgeable and not to mention patient in helping me decide how much % to tint. Pricing is very reasonable. He usually charges $10 discount if you pay cash. Definitely check this place out for good quality and long lasting tints!
Excellent service! Gerardo has helped me with the tint on both my cars and did an excellent job with both. They do a good job giving you the pros and cons with each level of tint. They also do a good job of giving you after car instructions. Good peeps!
Talk about patient!
We took in a car that had to have a very dark tint. The owner (I'm sorry, I can't remember his name) must've spend a half an hour with us, explaining what was legal in the state of CA and what was not. We eventually compromised on the tint that we were both comfortable with - the client always being right and the shop not bearing any legal ramifications.
The job was done on the spot, lighting fast and very very VERY high quality.
But that's not it. A couple months later, we switched cars and went in again. At least this time, we already knew what tint to get! A few months later, the legal ramifications finally caught up and we had to remove the tint on front side windows. They laughed and laughed and laughed and they took off the tint for next to nothing (huge discount).

I bought my car here to get my windows tinted. After lots of research and driving around the area, I decided this was the shop to get the work done. Everything went great! They helped me choose out the best tint for my car and explained everything in detail to me. They let me know to not roll down my windows for a few days to allow the bubbles to disappear and it did just that! I had my windows tinted somewhere else before and it came out horrible, but here there's no mystery! Perfect window tints everytime! Highly recommended to all!

I've taken two cars to Sidney now and he's been an absolute pleasure to work with. Great work, quick turn around, competitive pricing and quality materials. Sidney also does a great job in helping you make an informed decision on which product is best for you/your car.
It's also in a great location (right across the street from the popular automall shopping centers [and dealerships]). So you definitely will have something to do while you wait for your car.
I plan to take my newest car to Sidney soon.
I first heard about this place on a Lexus forum about 2 years ago. Since it got very good reviews, so I went there to check it out. I met Sidney and he explained the pros and cons of different options in detail. I decided to give it a try and I was very satisfied with the quality work they did (they had to remove the old tint first.)
Since then I've become a repeat customer and have recommended this place to my friends. In fact, I just had my third car tinted there.
They have very knowledgeable and helpful staff who does high quality work. I don't know how their price compares with other shops, but I think it's reasonable and you will feel that you really got your money's worth.
Update (5/09): just got my 4th car tinted there a couple of months ago. Once again, they did an excellent job considering it was not an easy car to work with ('94 Legend Coupe). Be careful not to tint the front side windows too dark. While I was there, some guy came in to have that removed because he got a ticket for it.
I heard about this place from the bimmer forums and they had good reviews so I decided to call for an appt. I took Sidney's recommendation of huper optik on the front and side windows and suntek hp on the rear window for $500. It would be $650 if you get huper optik on all windows. I scheduled for a Sunday morning appt and had Gerardo come in and install for me on my Bimmer. I took his recommendation and went 30% rear, 40% side, and 50% front window shades. He has the same huper optik sides/suntek hp rear setup on his Honda with the 30% rear, 40% side, 50% front shades.
Overall, very nice job and would definately recommend. I was in at 9:30 and out by 12pm. Go to Circuit City across the street and watch a movie while you wait or grab something to eat.
Everything you have read is true. This place is a very real and respectable place to get your windows tinted. This was my first window tinting experience, and Gerardo made it very easy for me. I made an appointment, and the windows were tinted while I wandered around the Auto Mall shopping center. At first I wasn't sure about all the little moisture bubbles in the V-Kool film, but Gerardo assured me that they would take a month to disappear fully. He was right. They're all gone now, and the tinting looks great, and the car temperature is noticeable cooler when I get in.
My husband researched on Yelp (and Google) places to go for window tinting. He came across Auto Mall Tint Specialist and liked the reviews he read. We contacted Sidney who gave us a quote of $325 cash for our side and rear windows to be covered with Suntek HP charcoal film. We made an appointment for later that week.
When we came in, Gerardo was very nice and helped us pick the color tints that would work best for the car and told us to come back in the afternoon. We called around 4:00pm and he let us know that the car was ready. Our Accord looked great! Gerardo instructed us to not roll down the window or clean them for three days. He even offered put tape over the window switches, just in case, to remind me not to use my automatic windows. Thank goodness he did that because I reached for those switches many times and the tape was the only reason I didn't roll down the windows!

I chose this place because 1) Great yelp reviews 2) Excellent and informative people that work here and 3) Fast turn around and good price. I knew nothing about tinting and they were able to give me a quote and explain the law and the different types of tints and tint %. In the end, I had my front, and rear tinted (2 front, 2 rear, 1 back) within 3 hours. Job was excellent. Came with lifetime warranty too. We'll see how well the tint holds up, but out the door, everything was EXCELLENT.
This place is great. I've been researching around for a good tint place, and keep coming across Auto Mall Tint Factory as being the 'go to place' for car tinting. I was hesitant at first, being that's its an hour drive for me.. but after shopping around, AMTF was able to give me a good deal, and they had a good reputation to back it up.
Once I walked in, Gerardo helped me decide on what tints to use, gave me great feedback and answered all my questions (patiently!). He was knowledgeable and unlike the other places I've shopped around.. he was honest and didn't just leave me alone to pick whatever I wanted.
I did the back three windows and it was fast- an hour and a half at most. I was really happy with the job. It was professional and clean. Gerardo did a great job. He went over the lifetime guarantee with me and even went as far as to suggest what cleaner I should use ( and where I can get it for cheap)
This place is great for people who don't know where to go to get their windows tinted. Unlike other places, this place only does and specializes in window tinting.

I brought my car in for window tinting in early December, 2007. This place was highly recommended by a friend of mine. When I called the factory about a week before I went in, the owner Sidney Lee answered my call, and he was extremely patient (besides being knowledgeable) w/ me over the phone.
I also called some other places. Although Auto Mall Tint Factory (another name is Auto Mall Tint Specialist) seemed slightly more expensive, I didn't feel I got the knowledge I needed about the different types of car window tinting, as well as a detailed breakdown of the cost structure, from the other places I called.
I also had a star crack on my windshield window, and Sidney told me that he could also fix it for me. He gave me a detailed breakdown of the different costs, and when I told me I could pay by cash, he also gave me a discount.
On the day when I went into the shop, Sidney's assistant was Gerardo there first to assist me. He helped me finalize the different types of window tinting I want on my car windows: Suntek HP Charcoal 20% on the back glass, 30% on the rear sides, and the V-Kool 70% on the fronts. Since it's illegal in California to have noticeable tinting on the front side windows of a vehicle, V-Kool, although pricey, can block 55% solar energy while transmitting 70% of the visible light.
Both Sidney and Gerardo worked on my car. They were very efficient, and the job was completed in just a few hours. The shop is near the Auto Mall Parkway in Fremont, so you could hang out in one of the many restaurants (Starbucks, etc.) or chain stores nearby while waiting for your car to be ready.
The tinting still looks very nice even now a few weeks after the job was done. Sidney also offers lifetime warranty on the film in case you find any problem. Also, if you are ever asked by the police to remove your V-Kool coating, Sidney said he'll do it for free.

my family has been coming to sid for window tinting since he started his first shop in san leandro. he's a perfectionist and pays strict attention to detail. he installed huper optiks tint on my 2004 g35 coupe when i first got it and everything has been fine. huper optik tint is very difficult to work with but sid has perfected the install with zero issues in adhering the tint to the dot matrix on the rear windows. if you love your car, you will bring it to sid.
I was searching around to find a good place to get my car window tint and I came across Auto Mall Tint Specialist and I wasn't sure if I should go to this place until my friends referred me. I came in on a Thursday morning and I believe I meet Gerardo who installed my tint. I was quoted $300 to tint all around total of 9 windows including the small ones in the front. I decided to do it and he did an amazing job. It took less than 2 hours and the turnout was nice. This was my first new vehicle and first time with window tint. The first week or so I had to leave my windows closed to let the film completely stick to the window and let the tiny bubbles go away. I was happy with the tint job auto mall tint specialist did and I'll refer this place to all my friends. Overall the shop is located in a safe and clean business park. it's a small shop with a garage in the back. The shop is very organize and clean with the film samples well displayed and there was also pictures on the wall of nice previous cars that had their windows tinted at auto mall tint. Now about Gerardo, He's a very nice guy and was helpful with deciding on tint film and color. I believe the own is name Sidney but I didn't get a chance to meet him. I think he also works at his other tint shop. Auto Mall tint is a busy shop with lots of cars needed to be tinted everyday, because I think they're working with the car dealerships down the street which is actually good for business. I'll recommend to call and schedule for an appointment if you decide to get your car or business windows tinted or if you have any questions.
