Definitely Fontucky. Beautiful speedway full of excitment and fast cars ~ just the way I like my cars.
If you were get a chance to get suite tickets - GO!!!!!!!!!!! You can get fed, your thirst quenced, and eye candy for your visit!
If you like the excitment of fast cars, go above the suites or outside your suites to feel and hear the roar of the racecars go by after the pace car hits the pits. Or you can get your rush watching them change a tire in less than 40 seconds.

I've been to the NASCAR race here twice. Both times in a corporate suite. I like it because you can either sit inside the suite or outside. You also have a clear view of the pits. I had a hot pass so the was insane watching the pit stop up close. I also got a tour of a hauler. I'm not sure if I'd go to a race to sit in the grandstands, but I'd definitely recommend the corporate experience to anyone that has the opportunity. Free food and drinks. Access to the drivers.
The track is in the middle of no where in Fontucky.

Please dont race on the streets. I know temptation is always a factor when someone rolls up next to you instigating a race. Trust me, its not worth it.
I used to always look forward to the Street Legal Drags when Auto Club Speedway was still called California Speedway.
The gates would open at 6am, but the first run would not start till 9am. The reason why it would take so long is because of the car inspection from the Pit Crew and getting your car registered. Racing would cost $20 and spectators would pay $10.
Get here early if you want to get more runs in! Get here too late and you might not even be able to race. If you have never been here, it is definitely worth the experience whether you are racing or spectating.
One of the few 1/4 mile tracks available to race on in California. The elevation on the track is not as bad as LACR in Palmdale. For those that dont know, elevation is a big factor when it comes to getting the best 1/4 mile times. There is nothing like staging your car up for a run down the strip. It is a exhilarating experience and of course for bragging rights. Nothing quite like mashing your gas pedal and watching the rpms rise to redline, shifting in between gears, until you pass the 1/4 mile, anxiously awaiting what your new time slip will be. It might sound simple but launching is by far the hardest part of getting good track times. Oh how I hated wheel hop and not being able to get traction in a fwd car.
The feeling of nostalgia overwhelms me as I reminisce and write this review. Until I get a car worth racing on the track again, I will continue to reflect back on the memories I had at this track. Good times!

This place is huge. Towing a motorcycle through the gates you go straight hang a left and drive. Turn right towards the track and enter the infield to the nice pit area. Covered garages with air and power hookups lay waiting for your bike to enter. You get to spend the day running the same track that AMA Superbike riders lap in less the 90 seconds.
You'll hit the top speed on your bike through the front straight and get to feel the throttle stop, hopefully for the first time because doing that on the street would be suicide.
Get the turn 1 chicane right and you'll never look back, this is the exact moment I knew I just picked up a very expensive hobby.
So I scored Free Crown Royal Sky box tickets from one of my vendors so I had to go since it was free. The whole sky box experience is actually pretty cool.
Pros
-Free Food all day!
-Our own private area to just hang out
-OPEN BAR!! yes...I did say open bar...and all day!!!
-free goodies bag
-We met the Driver of the Crown Royal Car
-We got to go to the Garage and see all the Cars
- They had raffles and games which was a lot of fun!
Cons
-Dear God its loud!! I almost went deaf when I went outside! No wonder everyone had ear plugs!
-250 laps around the track is way too much. People seemed to get bored.
I would definitely go back if I got free tickets again

* This review based on motorcycle racing. *
Had a great time here with the wife and 2 daughters. A fun day of racing in a nice environment. We had suite tickets, right at the end of the main straight near turn 1. Very nice set up, the suite used to belong to Penske so it's the largest of the suites (or so I'm told). Good view of the track, excellent view of the pits, great rooftop seating.
Free food & drink all day was a plus. Parking was easy-peasy and so was getting back out. Weather probably had something to do with that.
Overall, very happy and looking forward to going back.

Scored some free tickets to a NASCAR event here, so I decided to give it a shot and go to this particular nighttime race.
Damn! Only when you're at an actual race in real life can you truly comprehend why this sport is so appealing. Watching NASCAR on TV really does not do the real thing justice. You don't get to experience the real sense of speed.
Literally, every lap completed is a potential 200MPH accident waiting to happen! As a warning, when the procession of automobiles zips past you, it's frickin' loud. Consider attaining some ear plugs beforehand.
Definitely a "must-try-before-you-die". Shake and bake!
Of special interest to the alkies, yes, they sell beer!
*This review is for the Lexus Performance Driving Academy at the Auto Club Speedway*
So today I got to drive a Lexus IS-F!! It was so effin fast, but what was even more fun was riding with a professional driver that probably used most of it's 416 hp.
This event was professional in all aspects. It first starts off with a relatively short class teaching a few simple racing techniques. Next, you get behind the wheel of a few of their cars: the IS 250, IS 350, GS 460, and GS 450h. They let you take each car on a few laps each on a short course that lasts about 30 seconds, depending how fast you drive. You can really tell the differences in handling between the cars!
Next you get to go out on one of the smaller tracks there in the IS-F and just follow one of the instructors in groups of 3. There is some feedback from the instructors as you are driving but not too much.
Finally the "hot lap" is when you ride with a professional driver around the same track you just drove and you realize you were crawling round the track compared to him. It was really crazy awesome!!
The other great thing about this event is that's it's free! Plus you get some drinks, cookies, and other snacks to eat while you wait. They usually only have a Sat/Sun session but demand was so high they added a Thurs session too. Friday they also have a special "Ultimate" Driving Academy that costs $300 but you get half a day of individualized instruction.

So my BFF's meet me at Hwy 10 & 79 eat at Denny's right there in that little hole, I had The GRANDSLAMWICH it was great I would get it again, hangover or not. Egg's bacon with a little maple sryup flavor between french toast?or just toast fawk what was it whose cares.
We loaded in one car and proceeded west toward Auto Club Speedway, in route we watched A div & surf flick called Drop Zone OMG it is great, surfers in Tahiti surfing the slabs of coral "STOKED".
We get there at noonbish walk to the booth where our tickets are waiting for us. Next we rent some of those radio head phones, I've been hear many times through the year and have never used head phones. Next up the fucking steps of hell, and half way up we get our beers to take to our seats. Half an hour later we are watching trucks make left hand tours at 160 MPG. Kyle Bush had won the pole and he ran a hundred beautiful laps where he was most of the time in his own zone as were our group, The head phones were so cool listening to the car drivers talk to there pit crew and all so listening the radio broadcasting of the event
Couple hours later the Nationwide stock cars were on the track, and again Kyle bush was out front the whole way, the guys in the back were racing hard behind him but Kyle just didn't make any mistakes. The race started at 5 pm and finished in the dark and it was beautiful weather lots of people still in tee shirts at the end 7:30ish. Next thing I'm in Beaumont back in my car driving home. There's noting like the real thing I need season tickets again!!!!!!! See Ya at Long Beach Grand Prix April

My new employer invited to this the event that took place at here on Sunday 4/27/2008. There were already crowds gathering around at 11 a.m. as a 1000 cc motorcycle race would start at 1 p.m. Too bad that that was a small crowd presumably compared to NASCAR.
This is the speedway built among business parks and barren. So when the wind is pretty strong as it was last Sunday, the dust can get make the air somewhat hazy. It's also several degrees hotter than, say, Irvine. Wear sunglasses and drink lots of water to prepare!

I never say no to free stuff. Upon my first week in California a new friend of mine said that her dad had two tickets for the Busch Series race. And no one she knew had any interest in going.
In comes an upstate New Yorker who just couldn't resist the allure of a NASCAR night race...fo' free! And when it's been over 100 degrees for a week straight (the early September 2007 heat wave was brutal), night races are essential.
It felt like I was back home, complete with a parking lot full of old pick up trucks, people wearing worn jeans and a t-shirt while holding a Bud, a few mullets sprinkled in here and there, and just a rabid devotion to a sport full of left hand turns. But NASCAR is much more than that, and you can only really fully understand that until you come to a race and witness/actually hear TENS OF THOUSANDS of people cheering as the cars roar by. It's no Lowe's Motor Speedway, but the night races here are definitely worth checking out.
I've been there three times, for NASCAR races. What sucks is that the Auto Club 500 earlier this year was rained out. But you can't change the weather.
What I liked about Auto Club Speedway is that it's the only NASCAR track closest to San Diego.
Ive drag raced here more times then i can count.
ive also been here once for a Nascar race.
This is a great place for all kind of auto races.
I usually go on private days for drag racing and i can get as many as 20 races but if you go on a regular day you are lucky to get 3 and you end up having to race a bunch of slow foreign cars so its like your racing nobody. Some of the staff is good but there is actually alot of jerks that work the drag strip. They try not making it fun for you.
The regular day drags , they only race about once a month and they get 500 cars to race. it sucks!

This isn't my favorite track thus far (but I only have a couple under my belt), but I'm giving it a 5 anyway. Probably because there's not that many race tracks around here, so I'll take what I can get. The alternative would be illegal street racing, and I'm not really a big fan of that.
Anyway, I came out here this past Saturday for a high performance driving event (HPDE) on their Interior Road Course (the track for people who want to do more than turn left). What this basically means is you get to bring your car and go balls out in a no "po-po", safe (as can be), controlled environment trying to set as fast as a time as you can muster (please do drive within your own limits, that is key).
Unfortunately when I first signed up, I knew ahead of time that this track was pretty flat, and full of ninety degree turns. Not that interesting. And the last time I drove on it was in an Audi S5, and while I like Audis, it was a bit of a fat car for this track.
Well, by the end of the day, I was eating my words. The track is a little more technical than I had given credit for, and therefore, fun. The front straightaway dumps you into some chicanes, and if you're not setup correctly for the long right hander at the end, your times will suffer. The back straightaway takes you through a slight, high-speed chicane, and immediately takes you to a decreasing radius hairpin turn. If you brake too much after the chicane, it's very easy to upset the balance of your car, which could result in a wipe out. Fun stuff.
Overall, I'd definitely go again. While I still think Streets of Willow Springs was more fun, what with the elevation changes and the more varied turns, California Speedway is so much closer, and so much cleaner. Instead of dirt run-off, most of it is grass. However, you do end up having to pay a lot more.
Oh yeah, uh if your car is lowered, there is a huuuuuuge monster of a speed bump leading into the stadium. Thankfully my car wasn't that low, but my friend's car totally scraped. It was painful to hear.
RACING'S RACING: I attended the JGTC (Now the Super GT. Japanese Touring Car Series) All-Star Race and some other test drive event here a few years ago where half of the oval was used and the part of the infield was set up for the road course. I was pretty impressed. The track and it's bankings are just amazingly huge in person.
FONTUCKY NIGHTS: Watch out for the weather here in Fontucky. It can get really really hot, really really cold, and or really really windy. All in the same day. The JGTC event lasted until evening, and the cars are just gorgeous underneath the track lights. It's just so beautiful, it'll make any grown man drool over the cars. The backdrop can set up a really clean view of the Socal sunset. Sounds like a date place huH? Get a girl to come here with you and I'd have to say you're one lucky guy. The JGTC event also had free garage passes. It was cool to see the cars up in person and see the hard working mechanics repair and work on the cars. Bad part is that it's still a bit of a drive from L.A. Food was aight, but was expected.
NASCAR: I'd be curious to go to a NASCAR event here, but I'm too skeeered. It just doesn't feel right. I mean. Can you picture an Asian American drinking beer in his RV waving around a confederate flag? One day, I'm sure I'll be back here, though.

I'm not into auto races, 2 wheels are way more interesting. This track was definitely built for cars. I don't know how those bikes get around the artificial chicanes, I got confused just standing there looking at the track. AMA Superbike always seems to be in Fontucky when it's at least 100 degrees out. Way too hot and not enough shade. For superbike races, skip this place and drive up to Laguna.
This track was first opened back in 97 by Penske and was originally named California Speedway. Since then it's gone through 2 other ownership changes. I've been to several different events at this track including Nascar, Cart/IRL, Grand Am, JGTC, and a variety of Lexus events. I've driven part of the oval, and the infield track at different events. The 1/4 mile dragway on the northside of the property is also a good place to test out your car too on the weekends they are open. Only $20 to race and $10 to spectate. This dragstrip was a big improvement over the temp. dragstrip they had in pit row at the beginning all the way to the temp. dragstrip they made in the parking lot on the parking lots just south of the grandstands right by the perimiter road. It's a treat to sit at the luxury suites just above pit row. They have closed circuit tv's and outside seating just one floor above the suite. It's definitely different to watch the race from a nice climate controlled room and a catering team to feed your appetite.
Fontana gets very hot in the summer and is the most crowded during Nascar events. Have plenty of patience getting around on Nascar weekends because it can get congested for a while. Fontana needs do have a better entrance to this facility. The over used, under built Cherry Ave overpass on the 10 is a nightmare even during the weekday with all the trucks. The Foothill Blvd exit at the 15 is too far to travel to and from. Other than the ingress/egress, it's a great multipurpose race venue for all you racing fans.
Great track for road racing, pretty fast but nice because it's close to LA. The track is nice and smooth with a decent amount of run-off in case you goof. I've come here twice for NASA (National Auto Sport Association http://nasaproracing.com, not the other NASA) High Performance Driving Event (HPDE) events. HPDE means you take your car on the track and drive at full tilt. If you're a newbie you get an instructor assigned to you. It's great fun and a great way to go fast legally, and it doesn't matter what you drive. People come in everything from Hyundai Sonatas to race-prepped cars so don't be shy. Unfortunately because this track is expensive to rent NASA only does one weekend here a year.

I used to go here a lot to get official times for my 1/4 mile drag racing. They usually have it on Saturday mornings while it is still nice and cool outside, till about noon or 1. Get there early, get checked in, and plan to have 8-10 runs. Lotsa fun for the legal racing scene.
