The Autentica Mexican Restaurant is a simple little place. Some tables in a small dining room, a few tables outside in nice weather. Service at your table, pay at the register--that kind of place.

First, the good. The service here is excellent, for this kind of place. The staff is very nice, well above average. It's one of those rare places where I wish I weren't a poor grad student and could afford to overtip. Service is also pretty quick; both times I went, I only waited a few minutes for my meal. And prices are pretty good, with a number of $5.50 lunch specials.

Now, the not so good. Unfortunately, this is the food. I had the potato burrito, simply because I'd never heard of such a thing, and it was fine but nothing more, and definitely not "autentica" Mexican. Their fish taco was pretty good, but when I got the cheese enchilada I made the mistake of getting the hot sauce on it. It had a bit of heat (not too much), but mostly tasted bitter. Not good. They have a pretty big menu, and some things on there may be great, but I recommend against this item.

Overall, it's not a bad place to eat. You'll feel welcome and probably won't actively dislike the food. If I were still in South Hadley, I'd keep going there to find the good things on the menu.

I have had better Mexican food but Aunthentica is not too bad either.  The nachos, guacamole and burritos were quite good.  The waitress was very friendly as well.  I would stay away from the enchaladas but the flan definitely is worth the money!  Cute little place...worth a try.

Decent food (nothing authentic about it). Unless you order a special, the amount of food you get isn't worth it. I would recommend The Yarde House, Johnny's or Tailgate if you're looking to eat at the commons.
