Thanks tree guys for trimming my tree and making it look not so sad and near death.

Keith Brown gave me hope for a couple more years for my sad silver maple that shouldn't be planted in alkaline soil.

I know it won't make it much longer but I want to keep it as long as possible.  And you guys were the only ones to say that it could last a few more years.

Maybe I'll see if they can come and plant a few Central Tx. worthy trees in the Fall.

I would knock a half star off because my check was post office returned and your website didn't let me pay online and gave me 3 invoices, but I won't.  I am sure you just need a new web guy to help  ya along.  I know of one if you need him.

My ugly, tall tree thanks you because he aint so ugly anymore.

Our friend raved about this company so we called to have someone come out. I called two weeks ago, left a message asking to make an appointment and left all of my info. Nobody called me back! Guess they don't want new business through word of mouth.

Terrible....They stood me up at my home 3 times!!! I keep calling to make appointments, Casey is very nice but no one shows up and no one gets back to me.

I do not recommend this company!!! I hope business is always so good for you that you can ignore people.

I tried contacting this company today regarding a tree that fell on my roof overnight due to Tropical Storm Hermine.  I was asked if I was an existing customer, after replying no I was told that they were booking appointments into October.

This is an emergency situation and I didn't think that waiting until October was reasonable.  Most companies will accommodate this type of situation.   I was disappointed as I've been looking for someone to care for the trees on my very wooded property and this company had a lot of good reviews.

I guess this company is great if you are an existing customer or have time to wait around in the case of an emergency situation.

I love trees, especially MY trees. I pride myself in taking excellent care of them and heap scorn upon those who allow their trees to begin looking like something out of the evil trees in the wizard of oz.

So it was time again for my trees to get a haircut. It has been a while, 2002 was the last heavy duty one, with a few neck shavings in between. Treemasters did the last one and did a great job. I got an estimate from them as well but Austin Tree Experts was about $150 cheaper and also had good reviews, so I thought I'd give them a shot.

Micah came out and wrote me an estimate after walking the yard and listening to what I wanted to have done. Within an hour I also had an emailed version to approve online if I wanted. I called to approve the work and they came last Friday at 8 am to start.

Micah showed up with the 3 workers and explained the work. The super spoke good English so communication was easy. All 3 were polite and professional. Their cuts were great and watching them work, these weren't some yahoos who are digging ditches one day and trimming trees the next. These guys know their business. They trim what needs to be gone and leave what needs to stay for the health of the trees.

They were done by 1pm and left my yard cleaner than it began. Very satisfied all around and recommend them to all.

Here's the deal.  We have three pears trees that were extremely neglected by the property's previous owner.  God knows when they were last pruned by someone who knew what s/he was doing.  In fact, it looks like someone actually tried to kill them as some point.  Basically, they needed to be pruned/restored to maximize their fruit-bearing potential.  Initially thinking that I might tackle the job myself, I bought a book on pruning and restoring fruit trees, then realized how complicated it could be and decided to hire a professional.  Based on the reviews my partner and I read here, and especially because they advertise the services of a certified arborist, we decided to give Austin Tree Experts a go.

The arborist, Keith, came to the house and gave my partner an estimate for the job, and represented to her that he would be back to personally do (or at least oversee) the work.  The crew that showed up, however, consisted of three young men, only one of whom appeared to speak English, and no arborist.  The crew was efficient, courteous and cleaned up, so I have no particular complaint with them, but I feel like there was some misrepresentation.  Where the heck was Keith, the arborist?  It was his services and expertise we were paying for, after all.  To give the benefit of the doubt, I am giving them three stars in case there was a miscommunication about the nature of the work we wanted done. But the experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I think we'll look elsewhere next time we need similar services.

    GREAT Service!
I have my trees pruned every 3-4 years and never remember who I used last time, but I will now!  Austin Tree Experts were fabulous.  I had several companies quote my service, ATE quoted a good price, were very professional, informative and nice!

The crew was on time, got the job done and cleaned up so well my yard looked way better than when they arrived.

I had one small concern and as soon as I called they came back out the next day and made it right.

Also, I learned that there is a difference between removing a tree and REMOVING a tree, so if you don't want the tree to come back make sure each company quotes grinding the stump as well as cutting the tree down!

Keith, the owner, came by to provide an estimate to trim several large oaks. They would not be available to provide services for 3 weeks, but we made an appointment with them anyway. We decided all of our other landscaping plans could wait on this service. The day of the appointment, no one showed up. No one called. I left messages at 1:00pm and again at 2:30. My phone calls were not returned until 5:30pm. Apparently, they weren't going to be able to make it out.

The landscaping work scheduled to begin 2 days later would either have to be postponed or the tree work could be rescheduled for 2 weeks later. We were very disappointed with the lack of communication and neglect. They wasted a significant amount of our time.

They came to prune all tree limbs from the house and roof, raised the crape myrtle over the yard and cut the rose of Sharon down to below roof level. I also had them give me a quote for the overall pruning of the tree in my front yard and to plant a new tree.

Their prices are extremely reasonable and Micah was very knowledgeable and great to work with! I am definitely planning to use them again for future service.

You know how you drive by a house and think "That house is so beautiful. I love all those trees!" ? That's how I feel about my house now! We had 2 old overgrown and neglected oak trees in our front yard. One was scraping our cars and anyone who attempted to walk in front of our house on the sidewalk. The other was scraping the roof of our 2 story house.

They raised the canopy of both the trees and expertly thinned one of them to expose more of our porch. I can't believe the difference it makes in our property and it's inspired me to make many more changes to the front yard. I'm so glad I didn't just let my husband and father-in-law out there with a chainsaw!

Their website is straighforward and easy to navigate. They email and make personal calls at just the right times of service. Personal and professional service all the way.

I was referred to Austin Tree Experts by a plumber for some air spade digging around an oak tree root system to reach some collapsed pipe for replacement. They bid on the job, and said they could complete the work in 4 hours. Understandably due to the icy weather last week, my appointment to have this done kept getting pushed back.

2 days of cold and icy weather turned into a 5 day delay for them to complete the work. The only reason it even happened on that fifth day was because I demanded it.

On that fifth day, they came out and worked for an hour, then quit citing there being sewage and "that the original job had changed" The original job did not change, they knew they were digging around collapsed drainage pipe from my house.

Casey (who is actually very nice and helpful) told me I would have to talk to Micah so he could explain what "the job had changed meant". I called and left voice mails for Micah for 2 days. I even called Casey and asked her to have Micah call me. No one ever did.

We cannot use the bathroom in our home currently. We have not been able to use it for an entire month now. Austin Tree Experts is the reason for at LEAST a week of this time.

So if you want to get left high and dry, by all means, give them a call. If you want someone to do the job professionally, call someone else.

Austin Tree Experts lost a customer today.  We've used them once before, and were happy with the results, but today they not only no-showed an appointment, but then continued to show a complete disrespect for my time.

When I originally made the appointment, I expressed that I needed Micah to be to the house at 3:00 p.m. sharp because I was meeting him between work appointments.  I'm a contractor, so when I take an hour off work, I don't get paid.  I was first told that he would show up between 3:00 and 4:00, which did not work for me with my job conflicts.  When I tried to reschedule for a time that would be more convenient, I was assured that he would, in fact, be there right at 3:00, so I wouldn't have to worry about missing my 4:00 appointment.  Such was not the case.  After waiting 20 minutes on the day of the appointment, I called and was told that Micah would be arriving between 3:00 and 4:00 again!  I let the scheduler know that I was assured when I made the appointment that he would be on time.

Eventually Micah called me and told me that he had been on time to the appointment, but left at 3:05.  Really?!?  You have a 3:00 appointment and you leave at 3:05 without calling anyone?  I doubt this was true, anyway, because when I drove up to the house, my clock said 3:03, and he was no where in site.

I was told that the reason he left without calling is because he had my husband's number on file.  That's great, but 1) I made sure they had my number when I made the appointment, and 2) they still never called my husband, even though they did have his number.  My husband was available and would have made sure to get in touch with me.

After getting excuses from Micah, the "Tree Expert," I called the main line to let them know their expert had left without calling anyone, and was met with "Well, what do you want us to do about it?"  They asked if I wanted to reschedule, and when I said I would not because they clearly did not respect my time, all they said in reply was "ok."

NOT a great way to retain a customer.  Goodbye, Austin Tree Experts!

These people have got it together.  They are prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and do an amazing job.  First of all, they have a great website and you can view proposals and invoices online, which I love.  But most importantly, the do great work.

We had them take out some dead trees and clear our roof last fall and they came out, did the work, cleared it out, and were gone before I was even home from work.  There was no sign of them left other than beautiful trees.  They had cleaned up everything perfectly.

We are hiring them again for some more work because the last experience was so great.  And their pricing is extremely fair.

The short story is that this company delivers what they promise, when they promise it, for the price they promised, and goes beyond. I rarely am motivated to write reviews, but we've been incredibly impressed with Austin Tree Experts for their professionalism and knowledge.

The company has a master arborist who comes to look at your property and diagnose, if necessary, and help you figure out what should be done in your yard. (Many other companies don't have the same qualifications.)

We had a LOT of work done in our one-acre yard--had to have about seven dead trees removed, as well as a lot of trimming, pruning, clearing, etc. We had three different companies come and give us estimates. Austin Tree Experts' prices were comparable, but the service is why we're so glad we chose them to do the work. There's no hard sell--and they broke out each individual item we talked about doing in their estimate, so that I could see what it would cost and decide what I could spend. They showed up when they said they would, took as long as they said it would take, and cleared the debris completely.

When their crew missed a few things we'd discussed, they sent them back out the next week and took care of every single thing (no charge, of course)--and later that evening, after the stump grinder left, a woman even showed up with a leaf blower, saying the stump grinder had forgotten his, and they wanted to clean up any mess the machine left. Impressive.

This is a fair, straightforward, honest and professional company. I'd recommend them unhesitatingly--and there are some tree companies out there who will not be as honest with you. (We know! We got one of them who insisted we had oak wilt, when two other companies and the Texas Forestry Department assured us we did not.)

I have a yard full of live oaks and a few cedars that were in need of trimming. However, there are a lot of tree companies in Austin and I was worried about being overcharged and/or dealing with companies that trimmed without regard to the health of the trees.

So I called around to various tree companies and got six quotes from reputable looking companies that ranged from reasonable for the number of trees in my yard ($1125) to outrageous ($3000). Micah with Austin Tree Experts gave me one of the better quotes (and was even open to matching a competitors quote). He also was extremely knowledgeable and gave me the sense that he and his team knew how to properly trim up all my trees without hurting them (and they did).

After they came and did the initial trimming, I noticed a few trees that needed some additional work. Micah came back and walked my property with me and noted some other areas that I missed that needed additional work. So his team came back and did the additional trimmings.

I wouldn't fault them for not "doing the job right the first time" because I think they did. With a lot of tree trimming to be done, I think we both overlooked a number of areas that needed trimming because of other trees that were in the way. I was very happy that they were willing and able to come back (at no additional charge) to catch those spots that were missed the first time.

Overall, they were very professional, were very reasonably priced, they have a great website where you can see a record of when they visited your property as well as see your proposals and pay your bill, and they did a great job on all of my trees. I would definitely use them again and recommend them.

I found out after calling them that the owner of Austin Tree Experts, master arborist Keith Brown, lives on my street, so I was probably a little biased in choosing them to prune the very tall cedar elms and pecan in my yard. I got three estimates (others were Treemasters and The Tree Tender) and ATE was in the middle price-wise, but you'll find out from talking to arborists that there are different levels of thoroughness in tree pruning, and they charge based on the time they actually expect to put in. Also, Keith is the only Board-Certified Master Arborist listed for hire in Austin by the International Society of Arboriculture (http://www.isa-arbor.com). He took the time to explain the Level 2 Pruning process in general, and then talked me through what he recommended for each tree in the yard. His crew did great work and a good job of cleaning up, and the trees look much better now. Despite the amazing amount of dropped branches, they did no damage to my house or new landscaping. With this pruning done, I look forward to no more dropped cedar elm limbs punching holes in my roof!
