I had been buying my lumber at certain big box hardware stores in town with blue and orange logos and was increasingly frustrated with the lack of quality of their lumber and inaccuracy in their dimensions. So I found out about Austin Lumber Company though Yelp and gave them a call. Laura was courteous and returned my calls promptly, and on top of that was really flexible in when I could pick them up. The lumber quality was top notch. I will definitely go again

Local Austin Business... What a cool place to get your hardware and lumber stuff. I went because a friend told me about how they carry GREEN BUILD products.... and rep'd a line of old antique door knobs and some cool recycled glass tiles... I also found some other cool gagets I needed around the house-- Like a whole line of PINK hand tools.. LOL they are great. Pink hammer; drill and a tool bag (These are the real deal, not play stuff). SO for the woman who is series about her tools... you cant go wrong with a pink tape measure when working around the house. Not to mention the owner is there and eager to help offer suggestions and ideas for your project! Great place and i would rather give my money to someone local than a Big Box retail store!

Austin Lumber supplies all the FSC lumber and sheet goods for my new green home. Laura and Cate are great and really take care of their customers. This is a fantastic Austin family business that we should support especially as they embrace green building materials into the core of their business.

Established in 1929
Austin Original family-owned 3 generations. In 1929 Started out Residential/ Retail Lumber -hardware. In the 60's added on chainlink fence and wholesale construction mill (4000s/f) for other suppliers.
Laura Culin granddaughter of Bernie Willhoite & daughter of Don Willhoite bought the business in 1998 focused on Commercial and Construction Mill.Becoming the only 100% women-owned Lumber/Mill in Central Texas. After a devastating Fire in 2001, by illegal fireworks. Laura rebuilt her 5 of the 7 buildings that were totally destroyed and focused her passion on Green Build Products and teaching classes on Sustainable Green Building Products. She is now able to service Residential and Commercial and downsized the Construction Mill and expanded her retro-style Unique Hardware Store.
