MAKE IT RAIN!
Your roof is lazy.
It just lays there in the rain, letting all that lovely water roll off and evaporate. That's lame.
Make all that square footage work for you, and your lovely garden... collect that precious rainwater!
Austin Green Water makes and installs custom rain barrels, allowing you to harvest, store and then leisurely use your rain water in the landscape.
We just had a total of 9 55 gallon barrels installed, which means for every inch we get, we are able to store 495 gallons! There are lots of storage options out there... but we didn't really want plastic, and I was hoping for something aesthetically pleasing to blend in with the landscape.
These guys were friendly, very knowledgeable and got our barrels made and installed quickly... I'd highly recommend them!
What's more, you get a rebate from Austin energy for every barrel installed! Nearly 250 bucks in our case... woo, free money!
Plants love rainwater, and collecting it give you a way to keep your yard happy through dry spells... plus save you money.

I've bought two single rain barrels from these folks, the first about 2 years ago and the second last summer. Had a rusting issue with the 2nd barrel but all's fine now. Great product!

Metal + Water = Rust. They claim their barrels are lined to be rust proof. Overtime I guess the lining wears off? Did it wear off into the water? Plus I asked if the barrel or lining has BPA or information about the VOCs and I didnt get a response. GreenWater talks alot about benefits of collecting rainwater, rebates, and Austin local and that. I got my rebate. Getting barrels from Austin Green Water isnt worth the trouble. Now I got to replace these metal water barrels, a pain. I guess theres a reason why other water barrels are not metal. There are lots of cheaper alternatives that arent metal and dont risk rusting and they store rain water. Im getting rain barrels elsewhere.

All Green Water rain barrels are made from food-grade level or higher containers, so no chemical contamination issues arise.
