I absolutely LOVED the massage I got here. I was looking for DEEP DEEP tissue and that is exactly what I received. Warning: if you are looking for a gentle, relaxing massage this is not the place to go. But if you are looking to take some pain in order to loosen up serious knots and muscles tightness then I highly recommend this place. It has been two days since my massage and my muscles are still sore from all the therapeutic abuse. ;)
My only complaint is that I would prefer the rooms to be a bit darker. The room I was in had white curtains and so the room was pretty well lit in the middle of the day. I feel sort of uncomfortable being semi naked with a stranger, so darkness always helps me relax.
I will be back for more! -

My poor husband made an appointment, recommended by our trainer, six weeks ago for a massage the day after running the Austin Marathon. He first went online, but there were no openings, so he put his info in for wait list. He got a call right away and the woman (unfortunately he didn't get her name) said there were openings so he made appointments for both him and me--hour and one-half massages. Boy were we both looking forward to that--especially him, of course, having just run a marathon.
Can you spell disappointment?? We went in at our appointed time and there was NO record of our appointment, made so many weeks ago. If your business model depends on making appointments, it does seem like you'd be meticulous about that. We won't be giving them a second chance, and I would recommend you not either for fear you'll be all ready to relax and be frustrated instead.Comment from jessica p. of Austin Deep Tissue Therapy 3/27/2012

Just be aware that the name deep means something. It was too deep for me - resulting in pain I did not have when I went in and bruising.
Also, before you make your appointment, check on the experience of your therapist. I want my deep therapist to have years of experience. -

I had my appointment with Ashley a few days ago. I have had deep tissue massages before, but this is out of this world! The only other place where I have had the intensity and this level of deep nodule release of my tightened muscles was in the Far East.
A day after the massage, I had sore muscles as if I just had an intense weight lifting session with six sets of 15 or so! That same day, I was able to get back on the treadmill and ran for forty minutes. Seeing how I have not been able to run in two years due to neck and back pain, I'd say she worked wonders!
Thanks!! -

I went in the day before the Austin Marathon, I was running the Half Marathon. I am in pretty good shape but I wanted to get my deep tissue muscles worked on to the fullest extent. I am from Houston so I was worried that the hills in Austin would bust my thighs and knees. I told my therapist, Sally, about my race the next day and what I wanted from the massage. She was incredible! The massage was not too painful and not too soft, it was juuuuuust riiiight. The next day I attacked the hills and felt good the whole run. I definitely attribute it to Sally's handiwork!

I had been wanting to go to Austin Deep for a while since I really like a good deep tissue massage and had seen so many good reviews of this place. My husband surprised me with the Groupon for an hour massage for my birthday. When I called to book just a couple days in advance, they had no problem booking me. I really enjoyed my therapist Mallory. She was great and did an awesome job concentrating on my problem spots. My back and legs feel so much better and I really hope I get to come back soon. I would definitely recommend Austin Deep and Mallory for anyone who wants a real therapeutic massage.

I had my massage with Maria (aka Mari) yesterday. I'm training for the Austin Marathon, so my legs have been super sore and in crazy pain. But after an hour of Mari rubbing me down with oil and shoving her hands deep into the muscles, I have absolutely no pain. I've had a couple of massages elsewhere before, but now I won't go anywhere but Austin Deep. If massages haven't seemed to work well for you in the past, it's probably because you haven't had a deep tissue massage. It hurts, but it hurts SO GOOD. I am still in disbelief about all the tension she kneaded out of my legs and back. And she said I won't even feel the full effects until 2-3 days! Go here-- it's unbelievable!!

I had my first experience getting an AustinDEEP massage a couple of weeks ago and received by far and away the best deep tissue massage ever. As my wife can attest to, I like really, really hard, vigorous back massages, usually requiring the use of elbows, knees, shovels, battering rams, etc. as I carry all of my stress deep below the surface of my shoulders and shoulder blades. I've searched far and wide for the ultimate deep tissue massage and while massages are like pizza (you know, even bad pizza is still pretty good...), none of them were as intense and tension relieving as the one I received from Sara at AustinDEEP. Kudos to Sara for her uncanny ability to chisel away at my tension, her knowledge and breadth of technique, and her overall awesomeness. I will definitely be back!

I booked a massage here based on a recommendation from my hotel. I am a runner and I have regular massages to relieve lower back and hamstring pressure. I was disappointed with my experience. My therapist was friendly but chatthy and personal to the point that I felt uncomfortable. The place seems nice, but I did not feel like it was the level of professionalism that I expected.

i've been getting massages for back pain for about 8 years. jill ahearn is by far the best masseuse i've ever had. i had bruises for days (a sign of great deep tissue work!) and she gave me some great advice about steps i can take to prevent future injury. i highly highly recommend her work, and she's really nice to boot!

I've been getting deep tissue massage consistently for about 8 years and had to find a new therapist after my last one retired. I found Austin Deep thru a friend's referral and couldn't be happier. Sure you can probably find cheaper but I doubt you'll find a better massage. I can personally highly recommend Melinda.
