I freely admit to choosing this company based solely on Yelp reviews. I had hopes they would do a great job and they did.
A friend and I were visiting Austin in November and our flight back to Chicago was at 6am. Invoicing the week prior to the reservation was easy and all-inclusive. Any questions I had were answered completely, and in advance of the pickup.
We had to be picked up from the Lake in the Hills area at 4:30am. The driver arrived 10 minutes early, which initially caused us to freak out and throw whatever else we had lying around into our bags and run downstairs, but generally it was cool. Much better to be early than late. The driver put the air on, as it was a balmy 76 degrees that morning, which was appreciated. He made pleasant conversation about the weather and various other things until we got to the airport and then helped us with our bags. I just wrote the tip onto my bill; again, super-easy.
Should we be in Austin and need a car service again, I will not hesitate to contact Austin Black Car Service. -

I can't say enough good about my ride to the airport this morning. I'm flying in and out of Austin every weekend because my mother is extremely ill. My flight this morning was gawd awful early, and i didn't want to pile additional stress on my family by having them get up at 6 am to take me to the airport. So I called and made arraignments for a car to pick me up when I found that there was a decidedly low yelp-opinion of Austin Cab companies.
I set up a car to pick up my infant daughter and me at 6:30, and they gave me a very reasonable rate. Then, as I was looking at my flight info at midnight, I realized that it was my DALLAS flight that left at 8 am! My Austin to DFW flight was leaving at 7! I called them at midnight, feeling like a complete yet desperate ass, and they very sweetly changed my pick up time to 5:30! I don't even know when that poor man had to wake up to come get me, but he showed up at 5:20 and called my cellphone as I had asked them too, took my luggage out, loaded all my baby stuff, and we were on our way. We had a nice conversation on the way to the airport, and I was really impressed with the service and the quality of employee that they hire. He even offered to take me to get breakfast if I was hungry! -

We rented a black stretch H2 Hummer limo for an evening to Salt Lick.
The limo was extremely clean, the driver was very professional (Gary), and the firm was extremely accommodating. They brought coolers for us and helped fill them up with ice at our hotel so we could ice our drinks for BYOB at Salt Lick.
The entertainment in the Hummer Limo was standard-- CD player, Ipod hookups, radio, and even a PS2. My only wish is that the limo had XM radio as well.
I highly recommend this company. Also, don't forget to ask for the $5 discount for using an AMEX card.
The only negatives (but not enough to knock them down a star) were due to arranging the limo, not the actual limo ride.
[1] The company wouldn't negotiate on the rates at all, even though it was a Tuesday night and the Yelp discount mentioned 20% off (but only on the Chrysler or Excursion, not the Hummer).
[2] Planning with the company had some hiccups. After I received an email quote. I called in to book the service. There was a series of telephone and email tag back and forth throughout the day with Jay and Joe until all the details were ironed out (e.g., the $5 AMEX discount and the coolers).
Overall, I'd use this firm again for limo service. -

I booked a 10 passenger limousine for my wedding.
Austin Black Car Service delivered a car that was too small, inappropriately marked for a wedding with tacky advertisements on the window, and in poor condition mechanically and cosmetically.
I hired Austin Black Car Service for my wedding based on assurances from Joe that he could provide a 10 passenger limousine that would not have large advertisements on the side/windows. Joe said that he had genuine 10 passenger cars (he said his competitors would often pass 8 pax limo's as 10 passenger cars) and that his cars only had small advertisement on the back bumper, not on the window.
Austin Black Car Service ended up sending a car with the following issues:
1. It was an 8 passenger limousine that could not fit everyone in the wedding party so we had to scramble to find a ride for two people in the wedding.
2. The car had a large advertisement on the side window for "Big As Texas Limousine Service". I confronted Joe about this and his response was "he didn't see anything in the notes about no advertisements". So if you don't want a bright pink limo for your wedding, be sure you get it in writing even if Joe tells you not to worry because they only provide black limousines.
3. The electrical system was faulty. The sunroof was stuck open during a downpour which forced the females of the wedding party to sit on each other's lap to avoid getting wet.. And the A/C worked intermittently. The area in the back was stifling and was causing fresh (and expensive) hair and makeup to begin to melt/fall.
4. The car's transmission would fail to engage often and the engine stalled numerous times, once in an intersection with the females on board on the way to the church.
5. The bride had to tell the driver, Gary, how to get to the hotel.
6. The car had peeling paint.
7. The windows of the car had tint peeling off.
After the ceremony when we were trying to figure out how to get everyone to the reception site, I called Joe and asked for a refund. He told me I didn't deserve a refund, but perhaps a discount. My written request for a refund is still unanswered and I am now in the process of disputing the charge..
If you need a limousine for a funeral or wedding, steer clear of Austin Black Car service. Apparently my wedding was trivial enough to farm the job out to a third party. So much for "giving attention to every little detail to make your ride comfortable and relaxing". -

Very disappointed in the company.
I made a reservation on Thursday for Saturday night, providing pick-up & drop-off locations (Lake Travis area). No problem the guy on the phone says.
Friday night at about 6:30 PM, I get a call saying they need to add 56 minutes of drive-time both ways. Seemed like a bait & switch to me, guy on the phone didn't mention it (I'm not from the area and I knew it was away from Austin) when I made the reservation. The reservation was for a bachelor party, which they knew. Disappointing that they werent

VERY positive experience with this company. I almost forgot to book our transportation vehicle on our wedding day and didn't get around to it until a few days prior to the date. I can't remember the name of the driver or the person who booked us, but both were very friendly and helpful. We booked a Lincoln Town Car for our transportation from Palm Door to The Highball. The price was pretty affordable and even received an upgrade to a Mercedes Benz S-class vehicle. Score!
