I had no idea what to expect, and I'm skeptical of just about everything when it comes to randomly selecting someone for a service that I know nothing about. If you're like me and really bank on the value of sincerity and integrity to make up for the unknown in these circumstances, Austin Auditors is who you will choose to work with.
I caught William just before he was leaving for vacation but I had to get something done quick, couldn't wait. With a packed schedule and preparing to leave he still found time to squeeze in my appointment on short notice. Not only that, but he had the preliminary report to me within a day or two, and didn't ask for a dime until he was able to complete the service with a follow-up meeting that we agreed to push out a few weeks because the preliminary report had the exact detail that was urgent for me to get.
I don't know if there is a standardized report that they all provide, but what I got in email, also on disc, and ultimately in person for detailed discussion was more thorough than I had anticipated. Want to know where inefficiencies are? Approximate cost to address? If there's a city or federal program that can help with it? What the estimated return on investment is? Yes, I did too and that's what you get with this report.
William has a thorough understanding of all these things. With this report in hand I'm able to sit with my wife and target those items we can do in the short term for maximum benefit,, but also decide which items may be more than it would be worth if we don't intend to stay in the house.
I can assure you this, there will be no such thing as a low rating for Austin Auditors...ever. It's literally impossible. With William's personality, knowledge, and thorough presentation of results there's just no way it can happen. -

Having lived half my life in the emerging economies (ahem!) has made me understand the value of a saved watt or a drop of water. Load shedding, water rationing et. al.
We live a very sheltered life out here. But it is also the time to hunker down and prepare for a future where utility bills will inevitably rise. Bloated government and a debased dollar to blame. This is the context in which i requested William Marshall's services for a house we are trying to buy.
A comprehensive audit, report and a great follow-up meeting. Exceptional value, especially for someone trying to save money over the long term. Highly recommended! -

I called Austin Auditors right before the holidays to get an energy audit done on my house. William, the owner of the company, came out to the house on short notice and performed leakage tests on our ducts, a door blower test for air leakage around the house, and checked out the HVAC units and appliances inside and outside.
Knowing that we were on a tight schedule to get some of the cost-effective work done quickly (my wife and I will be busy with a new baby soon), William gave me suggestions on what to fix before his complete report was ready. He also made calls to multiple businesses and contractors for me. In the case of some window glass replacement, he called two companies and negotiated a better price from the better-reviewed company. For another repair, the contractor that he suggested did a great job and was on-time and very affordable. All this in the week between Christmas and New Years.
I never got a sense that William was getting any kickbacks from any of these people. The estimates he helped us get were all very well-priced and his repair suggestions were only for the things that gave us the best bang for the buck in terms of return on investment.
William went over the final report with us in person on a weekday evening to accommodate our work schedules, which was very helpful. Throughout the process, he was always very responsive to my emails and was eager to give us advice without pushing other services onto us. And we got the important items taken care of in time for baby. Definitely was well worth the price we paid. -

William, the owner of Austin Auditors, inspected our house this week and had lots of good recommendations that I hope will help save on our electric bill and improve our health. What I liked most about my experience with AA was the emphasis on easy fixes with near-term returns on investment and also the professionalism and friendliness with which William completed his work.
We recently moved to Austin from San Francisco and while home prices are cheaper, I found that we were getting killed on utilities - and not just in the summer. William identified a number of opportunities including attic insulation (est. 2 yr. break-even), solar screens on westerly facing windows (est. 2-3 yr. payback), a thermal blanket on our water heater because it is in the garage (1 yr. payback), and special plugs for our pulley windows. Some projects that I was considering like replacing the windows, he said would probably not generate a positive return. I also felt like William had my health as a concern when we talked about floor insulation, which is probably negative ROI on energy, but works as a moisture barrier to improve air quality by lowering mold development.
Another benefit that I found of working with AA was their knowledge of the rebates and tax credits available through Austin Energy, Texas Gas, and the federal government. While not something I wanted to sit around figuring out, our eligibility for these credits will definitely factor into the work that we ultimately have done.
I am still waiting on the final report that includes as analysis of our ancient air conditioner, but appreciated the sample report that appeared easy to read and tailored to a specific audit (not pages and pages of canned info). Overall, I would recommend Austin Auditors. In my experience, they are friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy - I never felt like the audit was a sales pitch or as if I was being pressured to have the work done. Thanks AA. -

These guys really know their stuff. I wanted to make sure I wasn't losing money on my energy costs so I contacted Austin Auditors to come do an assessment of my 9 year old, two-story home. After a few hours of watching the process I was left with a great understanding of what I needed to do.
Not only did William identify areas where I could improve efficiency he also ruled out what good things my home already had going for it. I thought more attic insulation was going to be the answer but I'm glad I called Austin Auditors before I installed more. Turns out the insulation is in great shape but it was the seals around the windows that are creating the draft in my house!
I'm looking forward to a comfortable winter in my home this year (and a cooler summer next year!) thanks to Austin Auditors. I would highly recommend them for a home energy audit consultation. -

His report has given us tons of options for improving our house's energy use, including the information we need to prioritize our improvements. William did a great job auditing our house recently. He confirmed several problems I suspected our house had and also found several others I was completely unaware of. Since then we've fixed the most serious inefficiencies and we've seen a definite decrease in electricity usage and, even better, a significant increase in our comfort.

I recently received an inspection from William and was really impressed. I told him up front that I was focused on DIY fixes, and he geared his report around the things I could fix myself at a low cost. He also pointed out fixes I could have done professionally for without paying anything out of pocket by using governmental rebates. He answered all my questions, and even offered to direct me to suppliers for the materials I would need of the energy saving products. I'm pretty sure the audit is going to pay for itself in short order.

We were very satisfied with the energy audit conducted by xxx (company) for us in Nov 2009. The recommended actions were well explained in a friendly one-to-one follow up meeting. The recommendations were correlated well to the problems identified; they were doable and, in our case, weren't exorbitant in terms of the cost to remediate. We are planning to implement them in 2010. We believe we received outstanding value for the price paid vs the time spent conducing the analysis and tests and developing the report of finding and recommended actions. We found (person) very friendly and easy to work, and professional. We would recommend (person) and his company to our friends.

We hired Austin Auditors to perform an energy audit for our older home. I work in the architectural world, and while I knew many of the energy upgrades that needed to be performed to our home, I was unsure which upgrades were the most critical (and the most bang for your buck), and I was a bit clueless and overwhelmed over the different energy rebates/tax credits that are being offered at the moment (plus, I totally missed a few items that Austin Auditors pointed out). William with Austin Auditors was so quick to return my call, got us in as fast as he could and really did a bang up job performing our audit. I asked a couple of "stumper" questions, and he checked his resources until he found my answers. His report is thorough and great for keeping you organized and on track for performing your upgrades. The estimated costs for the upgrades that are included in the report also help you budget. Even though I work on buildings for my job, I knew it was best (and easiest) to bring in an expert to help me plan my energy upgrades. I was not disappointed and would highly recommend Austin Auditors to anyone.

After yet another summer of noticing my A/C constantly running, I decided to do something to improve the energy consumption of my 1975 house. William from Austin Auditors came up with a very comprehensive report customized for my house after a very thorough examination. The report clearly spells out which improvement gets you the biggest bang for the buck. Austin Auditors can also help you with implementing the improvements but they don't push their services on you. Their prices are very reasonable and they completely take care of all the rebate stuff. The reasons why I am so impressed with them is how clear and thorough the report was, how helpful William was with my follow-up questions always giving me a straight answer, the great work they did with the improvements, and how easy the rebate process was (basically they do the work and the checks arrive in the mail) I would suggest considering their services to anyone who is thinking about making such improvements to their house.
