What a totally great experience.  I've had a ton of massages...but this was a first.  The Ashiatsu approach is unlike anything you have ever experienced before.  I really didn't know what to expect and was thoroughly delighted.  If deep tissue is your thing, you're in the right spot.  That said, Cathy is very attentive and will apply as much or as little pressure as you want.

I would highly recommend Cathy and Austin Ashiatsu.  Nice going...I'll be back.

I'm a regular with Cathy at Austin Ashiatsu for both massage and acupuncture and felt compelled to write my first Yelp review ever, she's that great.  My neck and shoulders were so tight from years in front of a computer that my range of motion was very limited.   Ashiatsu takes deep tissue massage to a whole new level and Cathy was able to break up the fascia and give me much improved range of motion and relief from pain.  She's also so kind and caring and an acupuncturist and herbalist too which means I get most of my health needs taken care of in one session.  I leave there feeling soooo good every time.

It has taken me awhile to write this review.  I started a few times and actually was "tongue-tied" because I wanted to say so many good things about my experiences with Cathy.  First off I should say that if I could have 3 wishes one of them would be to send everyone who has any type of physical pain to be sent directly to Austin Ashiatsu and begin the journey back to better health.

I know a lot about pain.  I had a pretty bad ruptured disk in my lower back that put pressure on my sciatic nerve.  I've had a steroid shot into the disk and then surgery about 7 months later to remove the disk material resting on the nerve.  I still have a lot of pain and numbness in my right foot and leg but after a series of visits with Cathy I have begun to see a lot of relief.  After my first visit, I was amazed when I got out of my car for the first time in over a year without being in pain while doing it.

The studio is a cool space that has a kind of zen-loft vibe and is hip and unisex.  Cathy is one of those rare individuals that puts you at ease right off the bat and she is truly sensitive and she listens to what you have to say and then gets down to work.  I say work because as you are laying there on the table she really is working on your muscles.  One of the first things I thought - besides AHHHHHH!! - after my first visit was that she must be one of the most in-shape persons I've ever met because of having to do what she does all day long.  And, I love what she does, I love it when she puts pressure on my muscles and loosens up the congestion and tension.  Yeah, sometimes it's a good bit of pressure but I know that it's what I need to loosen up.

I could gush on and on but the main thing I want to get across is that Cathy is effective.  She is compassionate and really cares about helping each person get to the best health possible.  She always makes sure to tell me "pound the water" when I leave.  I'm not good about pounding water so I listen and drink as much as I can.

Do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Cathy.  I promise you that you won't be disappointed and you won't feel like you wasted your time or money.  It's the best hour (or hour and a half) you can spend on yourself and your body will love you for it.

I get back and neck tightness from spending too many hours at a computer. If I let it go unaddressed, it becomes a problem. While I've had great results in general w/ either chiropractic adjustments or massage, after my first treatment at Austin Ashiatsu, I immediately booked another 90 minute session. It's that good.

In general, I like a deep tissue massage, and the technique at Austin Ashiatsu is hands down a better approach. I felt great immediately after my first session. However, a week later I was amazed to find that I had relief in low-level chronic discomfort areas. The treatment really opens things up, realigns things and facilitates healing.

While Austin Ashiatsu is in my neighborhood, I've happily traveled across town for treatments that weren't nearly this effective. Book an appointment and give it a try

I've had maaaaaaaany massages in my life.  All different kinds for all different reasons.  So when I say, "Cathy is so astonishingly, amazingly, brilliantly, intuitively, divinely, perfectly and beautifully gifted at massage, and even more particularly, Ashiatsu massage" I MEAN IT.  I'm completely blown away by her gift.  It's natural and it's genuine, and there's nothing like it.

    First the back story.

I first discovered Ashiatsu last year, and as my friends (I think they're still my friends) can attest I would NOT shut up about it.  For me, Ashiatsu is the best kind of massage.  I hear "Hurt So Good" playing in my head every time I have it done.  I was going somewhere else in town for it, but the employees there were not happy campers and I really picked up on that.  Not conducive to a therapeutic, healing experience.

Then a happy accident.  Turns out a few of my FB friends were friends of 'Austin Ashiatsu' and it was suggested that I friend him/her/it too.  Well I was intrigued.  I checked out the site and learned about Cathy and I think I booked an appt the same day my friend request to her was accepted.  don't you LOVE the new, modern world?? :)

So I go to my appointment and I meet Cathy.  You can just sense she's about helping people.  That is HUGE with me.  I pick up on it when people are or are not (as do most people) and I was so glad that I made the right choice.  I believe she is the fourth Ashiatsu therapist I've had now and by far the best.  She really listens to you, and CARES about helping you.

Today was my 2nd visit with her and I have the next four planned out.  Needless to say, I've found my Ashiatsu home.

So if you are curious about Ashiatsu, just give it a try and I am certain you'll be glad you picked Cathy.  I know I am. : )

Tension and back pain are a constant source of irritation in my otherwise healthy life.  I've tried many massage therapists at many locations in the past, but none of them were of much use..

That's changed since I started going to Austin Ashiatsu. Unlike traditional massage, Austin Ashiatsu is able to apply as much or as little pressure as needed, and exactly where needed. The goal for me is health, I don't need a back rub.  I've yet to be disappointed, and I'm healthier since I started going.  Finally, massage therapy that actually heals me.

I feel very lucky to have found this!

Cathy was awesome.  I can honestly say this was the best massage I have every gotten.  My friend recommended her and Cathy did not disappoint!  I've been trying to get my boyfriend to go but he keeps hesitating because he gets grossed out by feet.  I've never thought about it seeing as I always walked on my dad's back as a kid.  The pressure was seemed more effective because she could apply more pressure, but it didn't hurt like a finger jabbing into you as it was dispersed across a bigger area.  Anyhow...I can't wait to go back for another as all this time on the computer is killing my shoulders!  :D

I have constant back pain, mostly in the neck and shoulder area.  Cathy really hit all the spots that hurt.  Most massage therapists have not been able to do that for me.  I've been to quite a few and have paid quite a bit to relieve the tension.  My back is incredibly sore today, but I feel good.  Hurt so good is really the best way to describe it. That and AMAZING.  Even my BF felt that is was incredible, he's the hardest to please.  Please give it a try, I am sure you will agree.  It was well worth it for me.

As a long distance cyclist and working musician, I have some muscular tissue issues that require more than just a little rubdown. Cathy is able to penetrate the tightness in my forearms to ward off carpal tunnel syndrome, and has also used acupuncture to treat these energy blocks. Her incredible ashiatsu techniques have released some serious tightness and blockage in my quads and calves as well. Highly recommended.

Good bodywork is worth it's weight in gold, and this is the Motherload! Ashiatsu allows deep sustained work with great control and this therapist knows her stuff. She also has a background in Eastern Medicine so her work is well informed. This will make you live longer.

Cathy is fabulous.  I get body work every two weeks and have for nine years.  She is one of the best.  Amazing person for serious body work.  Just go, especially if you have a history of any kind of injuries.  You will be forever grateful.  Thank you Kathy!!
