Aurora Donuts is attached to a Baskin Robbins, it uses the Dunkin Donuts font... the Dunkin Donuts recipes (chocolate glazed was the giveaway), even old Dunkin Donuts labels on the donuts. So what's the deal? I talked to the manager to find out.

Dunkin' pulled out the west coast and let the franchise contracts expire. But this place just kept on keeping on. I talked to them a bit and they were not sure if they were using the same recipes (at least that's what he said), but trust me, they are. As another reviewer noted, this is as close as you get to Dunkin on the west coast, and to me that's a good thing.

Owners are cool, coffee is good, donuts ROCK, and its way cheaper than than Ly's Donuts (see my other review) which had worse donuts at twice the price.

Drive past Krispie Krap and get some real donuts at Dunk-Rora!

If you miss "Dunkies" or just want a really good donut, search no more! Good coffee, pleasant service, and yes it's not the best location.  Who cares? It's donut nirvana!

I'm all about supporting the small business.

Like most everyone says, sure there's a Krispy Kreme just down the road, but trust me you will love these donuts.

One downside is the location, Shoreline apparently used to be nice... Until of course the hookers moved in and it all went to hell. I work out of my car alot and have meetings all over the city, of course forcing me to spend a considerable amount of time around the Shoreline, and specifically good ol hooker road, side of Aurora Ave.

Location aside, this is a great little shop. Obviously it used to be a Dunkin Donuts shop, but now it's become something of a brand, with a Baskin Robins connected to it of course, then again I come here for the donuts.

What sets this place apart from the greasy (Krispy Kreme) and the frou frou (Frost) is the donuts are classic and good. The kind you'd find at an old school Dunkin. These donuts don't aspire to be slathered in greasy frosting nor do they have delusions of grandeur to be a glazed with chocolate milked from the teet of a swiss cow. Just good ol donuts for a good ol price.

A few highlights! The strawberry filled sugar dusted donut is my favorite jelly donut. The filling is really flavorful but not overpoweringly sweet. Their classic maple bar is delicious, moist, and has the perfect amount of frosting, and the manager's special is divine, a chocolate cake donut dusted with powdered sugar. Also, they have a pretty good maple/bacon bar... Absolute truth I tell ya.

The service is always stellar, the guy who run it really lives behid the "service with a smile" credo.

A great one stop shop for a donut and a coffee. I don't make it out here as often as I'd like... For health reasons (gotta stay fit) and distance, but when I can and that inkling for a donut and a coffee hit... You'll find me parked with coffee and a treat.

Not the best donuts I have ever had, and not the worst.

They are suspiciously similar to Dunkin' Donuts donuts.
I say "suspiciously" because this apparently used to BE a Dunkin' Donuts, they are still connected to a Baskin Robbins and all of the styles look EXACTLY like Dunkin' Donuts donuts.

I am not calling "foul" or "plagiarism" on this one, I am just baffled on how this all played out.
Either you buy into a franchise, using their name and recipes, or you strike out in your own individual direction.
What is strange to me about Aurora is it seems to be somewhere in the grey middle of those two options.

One unique element about them I have heard is that they they have a bacon maple bar.
Sadly, when I visited, they did not have them that day.
Perhaps had I tried this donut, my experience would have been more unique and might have scored Aurora a 4.

My heart goes out to the owners of this tandem donut/ice cream shop.  Quite possibly the worst location off Aurora, sandwiched between the old Bally's vacant lot where unsavory folk feed Seagulls out of their trunk and beside the Wells Fargo where pimps hang out at sundown.

With that said, do not let that get between your sweet desires, you hear me!!  They have delectable donut holes in honey dip, cinnamon powder, chocolate.  No cinnanmon-sugar tho (sad face).  In any case, they're down right addicting.  Also recommend their maple bars, that have just the right amount of glaze.  Drive past the overrated Krispy Kreme, and pull over to Aurora Donuts.

Good old-fashioned traditional style doughnuts served here.  You won't find the newest outrageous styles of places like Voodoo Doughnut, just back to the basics.

Location is interesting and eating in often leaves you with an entertainment such as old prostitutes loitering around the area and excited riders awaiting the Metro 358.  Maybe not the most savory stop based on location, but it's cool.

Doughnuts are good and it's great to stop in if you're in the area.

I go here every now and then, sure Krispy Kreme is a few blocks away, but I don't like my donuts with a side of greasy icing.
They always have great tasting donuts, and on more than one occasion, I've gotten home and opened the box to find MORE than what I paid for! Sometimes they don't get the right donut, but if you watch when they grab them this shouldn't be a problem. Bring cash, though, as they have a surcharge for using credit or debit for under $10

My favorite donut joint in all of Seattle, and I whole heartedly second the supporting small business owners.

I've been coming here since I was about 6 years with my dad when we owned another small business across the street. The owners, Joe and Paul (and their great staff), consistently provide excellent service and a great donut. Never dry, or overly sweet, and priced just right. I remember bringing donut holes from here for club meetings in high school and everyone always loved them. Definitely skip the Krispy Kreme for a real classic donut from Aurora Donuts.

As many have noted, it looks like a Dunkin' Donuts, and yes, it was a Dunkin' Donuts years ago. However, if memory serves, this was an independent donut shop PRIOR to being a Dunkin' Donuts. So, the progression was independent donut shop to Dunkin' Donuts back to independent donut shop.

All in all a solid donut/ice cream joint.

I drove down here once before because I thought it was a Dunkin Donuts- a craving from my time in NY. NOPE! so I didn't go in...

I needed to break a ten after leaving my gym. An apple fritter sounded good and poof* there was Aurora donuts- right across from my gym...

It looks like a DD inside which made me smile. They even have the same holding baskets. Ordered a fritter- and started to chow as I drove away... At first I couldn't tell what was making it taste different- then I looked at it- CINNAMON- cinnamon up the wazoo! It was coated in cinnamon and it was all up in the batter too! It was delicious! Same texture and consistency as most fritters I am a fan of.

Stop by Aurora for some good ol' donuts- I noticed that they had tons of styles and they also have Baskin and Robbins... so it is a ICE CREAM and DONUT store- a hybrid of sugar... so sweet...

This was a Dunkin Donuts many years ago, that is why it looks so similar to one. They are probably still making the same donuts as when it was DD, it doesn't seem like much has changed even though the switch was at least 10-15 years ago.

We went in for a late night snack the other night. My husband was disappointed they were out of cream filled donuts, but he thought his apple fritter was decent, even at the end of the day. I ordered a few donut holes and the lady threw in about twice as many for free. Yay!! That probably bumped them up to 4 stars in my book :)

They have a great selection of doughnuts at really good prices.

Sure they're just a mile or so north of that Krispy Kreme place, but, not only are they better - they're also quite a bit cheaper; AND there's a Baskin Robbins in the same store! What more could you want?

The doughnuts are less like the super-sweet, partially hydrogenated chemical and grease variety from Krispy Kreme, and more like the classic and cakey ones I prefer.  Their buttermilk and chocolate cake varieties are both very good.

These are the absolute best donuts!  Far, far better than the sugary krispy Kreme down the street.  I only wish Aurora donuts opened earlier so I could bring them to work to share more often!  Love, love, love them!

Donuts + Ice Cream.  Their sign looks like a parody of the Dunkin Donuts sign, and other reviewers have noted other similarities.  I'm not a Dunkin Donuts expert, but the donuts here taste like Dunkin Donuts to me.  Always a free donut hole for my 1 year old daughter.  Same staff there every visit, they ask about my daughter when she's not with us.  The actual donuts range from solid to great, depending on the batch.  The Ice Cream is just Baskin Robbins, so whatever you think of BR...
