Iced Americano please
But could you make it with extra tasty expresso
To bring back my troubled mind?
It will take me a second to find the tip jar
(as it is a plate & my eyes are tired
& my mind is tired)
But when I do
I want to tip you myself because it was
The most espresso tasting espresso I have had on the entire
Eastern seaboard
And I love your wooden floor boards -

Been in this Aurora many many times. Very cool, laid back. Nice people know how to make great tasting coffee.
and on Fridays i get my treat. A quad cappuccino. And i gotta tell you. I go to Italy every hear for a weeks. And i drink cappucci all the time. Aurora's is the BEST cappuccino anywhere! Just stellar. -

Came here about 2 years ago in September. It has a pretty good feel, but not much seating. My drink was good and I was able to get enough work done. Parking can be difficult because of the area it's located in.

The espresso just tasted awful in my opinion. I did not like them passing the bathroom key over my head while waiting to pay. Average all around.

Boooo!!!!
Aurora Coffee closes at 8pm on a Monday and only up to 9pm on the other days. What up with that? They should stay open longer for the people of Little Five Points.
Other than that, everything seemed pretty cool. The staff was really friendly. Not sure about the coffee because I don't drink coffee but they are stocked with Arden's Garden juice!!! Woohoo!! -

I've always liked Aurora, but struggled with a review because I'd mostly encountered indifferent baristas and heavily acidic bitter coffee of the day. And I didn't want to have to write a bad review for a place I'd come to admire so much.
Today's visit really made me fall in love again. The baristas were sweet as hell, the fudge filled cookies were a perfect afternoon snack, and I had the best mocha anyone has ever made for me.
Thanks for winning me over again!!Listed in: Little Five Points

Aurora is a great, neighborhood coffee joint. They do all the right things. Bagels are brought from one of Atlanta's best bagel bakeries (The Bagel Palace). Other baked goods are also locally made. They procure as much as they can locally, in fact, and serve it all up with humor and a smile. Free wifi is also a good thing.
I'm not a coffee drinker, but I've never been disappointed with any drink I've gotten here. I'll leave it up to my fellow yelpers to tell you about the actual coffee... -
Review from Tamara S.
Aurora was never on my radar until an artist from whom I was buying a (super rad, ATL-themed) poster suggested meeting there. I was in the midst of frantic exam studying so headed the little five a bit early to study.
I wasn't totally feeling coffee, so I got a big cup of tea--Mighty Leaf, holla. They don't fuck around--a tea is two bucks regardless of size which makes SO MUCH SENSE as it's just hot water and a tea bag. I cant stand when places charge you differently for the amount of water you get. The line was a bit slow but the baristas were really nice and seemed knowledgeable from the conversations I heard with other customers.
The space here is really aesthetically pleasing with a sort of industrial feel--the white and light blue walls make the cafe feel really big and open, and I dig the wooden chairs and tables. I've admittedly got some cushion to my bootay but I didn't find them particular uncomfortable.
A lil bonus: There are mad cute boys hangin' out here. Swoon.
Just tell the parking attendant (if it's a weekend or one's out on a weekday) that you're going to Aurora and you won't need to pay the four dollar parking fee.
I'll be back.Listed in: cofffeeeeee, little five

Having done three years in the Portland coffee mines, I'm a bit hard to please, and Aurora delivers. My caffeine tolerance is shamefully high, and I make my coffee at home like rocket fuel. After one medium Aurora house coffee, I'm bouncing off the walls. Also, it tastes good!
Their whole bean coffee makes a great gift, particularly for the hard-to-shop-for caffeine enthusiast in your life.
As mentioned elsewhere, the interior of the Little Five location is a bit spare and the seating is a little hard on the keister. This is a feature, not a bug. The casual visitor to Little Five may notice that the neighborhood is frequented by numerous homeless people. While some homeless people are nice, polite, and mind their own business, not all of them do, and a lack of comfy chairs keeps this latter group from lingering too long.
Should you yourself want to linger, I'd recommend sitting at the bar in the back. It's a great place to spread out your reading materials and catch up on gossip. -
Review from Jen C.
Did I go to a different Aurora from everyone else?
I had a pretty rough experience here. I came in to do some work on a Sunday afternoon and the place was pretty empty. It still took nearly 10 minutes to get my half strength Americano AND the barista made fun of me for my order! Yeah, I drink my coffee light-- you got a problem with that? I came in for coffee, not to get sassed by some wannabe hipster.
When I went to the milk bar to lighten up my coffee even more, the pitchers of milk were covered in grime (I really don't know what else to call it)...some dried up milk/crumb concoction.
To top it off, the wooden chairs were less than conducive to sitting around and doing work.
Definitely won't be back. -
Review from Miriam W.
The spare blonde wood tables and chairs that line the wall of this Little Five Points coffee shop remind me a bit of the aesthetic that Momofuku employs in its New York restaurants.
Never before in Atlanta have I observed more hipsters in one place. White girls with dreads? Boys in skinny jeans? You'll find 'em here. It's a nice departure from the norm in these parts.
The vibe is relaxed and the wifi strong and free.Listed in: Little Five Points in Atlanta

I was in Atlanta, bored, waiting for all of the secondhand shops to open, trying not to get hounded by the creepy panhandlers when I slipped into Aurora. Which is clean and bright (without seeming clinical) and full of people just hanging and looking friendly and approachable.
And then there's the totally divine coffee. I had a plain old regular and it was full and smooth and had no acidity and was a perfect temperature the whole way through. And it was cheap as hell (or was that my NY standards warping my perceptions?). I still have happy dreams about this coffee.Listed in: Road Tripping with My Two…

The fact that this Aurora location continues to thrive when Starbuck's built a shop fifty feet away is a testament to how much people appreciate a local, community involved micro-chain operation. This is my favorite Aurora location, right in the heart of Little Five Points next to Criminal Records.
The prices are standard gourmet coffee shop prices, and they have an assortment of bagels and baked goods as well. The staff usually looks like they were out at Star Bar the night before and need coffee as badly as the customers. Service is quick and it's a minimalist looking space.
If you need a quick look at who's going to be playing a concert at almost any venue in Atlanta, check out the wall next to the front door of Aurora. There's always about a hundred posters for upcoming concerts for every in-town music venue. It's essentially a large print version of Creative Loafing's concert section. -

The best Americano I've ever had, I had at Aurora. It was made to perfection, and that's the experience I get with most drinks made here. I've never had a bad barista, and everyone seems very cool and laid back, even friendly. I've had a couple of their homemade pastries and they were good, but the focus here is definitely the coffee. I'd pick this place over anywhere else for their beans and know-how.
They also help community-wise by providing a free magazine stand full of publications to take and read, as well as a wall with every local show's flyer you can think of all in one place. They feature local art on the walls that changes out quite often.
In addition to the several small tables, there is a bar you can sit near the back.
A great little coffee shop for when you really want a good drink. -

Aurora now carries tasty morsels from Holeman & Finch Bread Co. I must say that the chocolate croissant was divine.
The chai latte may not as be as good as Octane, the seating may be a bit uncomfortable, and the hipsters may create some distractions, but it's a solid choice if you need to be in the area. Definitely has a homey, regular-status type vibe.Listed in: Free Wi-Fi!, Tea-se me, please me!, Little Five Points.

Sadly everyone else that came in here was dressed cooler than I was, but I got over that and enjoyed my rich (and cheap) cup of coffee.
The interior, much like the other Aurora Highlands location, is very minimalist. Tables line the perimeter of the space, and one wall's 'decor' is completely covered in upcoming shows and event fliers. The bathroom will remind you a bit of a dive bar bathroom, but unfortunately you won't be drunk.
All the staff is friendly, and they have free wi-fi - a good 'ole laid back coffee joint. I like.Listed in: Caffeine High: Coffee In…, Atlanta Free Wi-Fi

The coffee I had here was good. Plus, it is in the heart of L5P, so you feel real real real cool.
But, if you want to actually sit down and get some work done you're out of luck. There is.... one chair, maybe two, in the whole place.
Plus, for some reason, the word "sterile" comes to mind, even though there were a bunch of dirty hippies hangin' out. -
Review from Sal G.
Rancidly bitter...someone needs to clean the machine. I came here on the recommendation of someone local to the area. He told me that this was THE best coffee that he had ever drank. I must say, either he pulled a prank in poor taste (pun intended) or he truly does not understand what good coffee tastes like.
I have tasted these flavors before, the machine they are making the coffee with is not being properly handled. I had to throw it away and move on.
UPDATE:
I enjoyed the atmosphere and would like to try Aurora again. The owner is fairly concerned with quality control and is quite open to constructive criticism -- kudos to Mark, I have respect for him. -
Review from Iffat B.
I ordered the iced chocolate au lait (basically iced coffee with chocolate) and I was disappointed with the size of it. It was a bit small for the price I paid. It tasted fine, but what bothers me is that every time I've been here, the workers have never been particularly pleasant.
I think I'll just stick to my favorite coffee shop: Caribou Coffee off of N. Druid Hills :) -
Review from Nikki K.
When I saw the Starbucks being built practically next door to Aurora I got mad- I thought those corporate jerks are going to try to kill our neighborhood coffee place! But, after a few years of competing against each other Starbucks still hasn't won the battle.
But, I think this neighborhood's mindset is definitely against Starbucks just enough to keep Aurora in business.
I like to walk my dogs up to Aurora and get a soy chai that tastes better than Starbuck's, while helping to support my neighborhood institutions from corporate thugs. -

Very Tasty Cupcake..it was a chocolate cake ,very moist with what I recall as a chocolate/mocha whipped frosting. It was not a heavy butter cream frosting that you can only eat a bit.. it was nice and lightly whipped and enough sweetness to have you wanting more.
The frozen mocha was delish.. it had a perfect consistency of enough ice and coffee.. and sweetness chocolate syrup, it blows the Starbucks Mochachino out of the water..
The place has great art, and a chill crowd, but one would expect that in the little 5 points neighborhood. I would definitely come back here again. wish they had outdoor seating for a hot sunny day. -
Review from Song S.
"Meh. I've experienced better" is right. Like at the other location.
I'd rather not taint a beautiful Sunday afternoon with a surly cashier. And I definitely know now not to ever order an iced chai latte here. I thought I was getting iced milk. Upon tasting the sweetened milk, I know that coffee is the only way to go here. -

Decatur, GA
Yummy drinks, hot (and amiable) baristas, nice atmosphere and good music.
I've had a latte, the hot chocolate several times, and a bite of a chocolate chip cookie.
What I really like about this place is that it's so open and uncrowded. This place is bright with high ceilings and big windows and on the side is a wooden porch with a wraparound bench. The back of the bench extends up several feet so you're separated from the parking lot and it feels cozy. -

i started going to Aurora for my morning coffee, and whenever i go somewhere else now in the morning, it's nowhere near as good! Aurora's coffee is strong - if i can see the walls of the cup through the coffee, it's too weak for me. i think it's a good deal for the price, though i don't drink any of the specialty drinks (latte, cappuccino, iced chocolate au lait, etc.). the people there are so friendly, and when it's not crazy busy, they're always happy to talk. even when it is busy, they'll still chit chat.
i also love that they partner with Beep Beep Gallery. the art on the wall gives it an additional local flair. i have yet to go to one of their events, but i'm sure they're a blast! -

Best Everything bagel in town.Coffee is delicious.
Way cheaper than Starbucks & since I am a baller (not really) on a budget , I prefer Aurora. I don't go there as a political protest against the evils of Corporate America, it just suits my location & my budget.
Also, I've never had an issue with customer service. I find the staff to be lovely. I don't need them to offer me insincere bowing & scraping for me to feel ok about their customer service and/or my patronage. They give me coffee with a smile & no BS, it's refreshingly enough. -

I really don't have much to add other than their lattes are the tastiest I've had in Atlanta and so I refuse the give my money to the nearby alternative. I normally make my lattes at home (nice espresso machine and grinder) but when I can't I go to Aurora and remember that my skills and home equipment are limited. Unlike the McCoffee establishments that are trying to sell you music, coffee mugs and a trendy brand name to go with their overly bitter espresso, Aurora delivers smooth, tasty espresso every time with no frills. I don't even have to add sugar as I would at one of the chain coffee places to counteract the overly bitter coffee - Aurora is the best.
Sure the sometimes hipper than thou attitude can be off-putting but the exceptional product is always worth it. -

About a year ago, the owner of neighboring Criminal Records bought Aurora Coffee. Since then the service has suffered. A friend tells me that Criminal employees, who don't know much about brewing caffeinated beverages, are often recruited to work at Aurora, with little or no training.
That said, Aurora still orders good, quality beans. And if you're lucky enough to get a knowledgeable barista, you're in for a treat. -

Aurora coffee was one of the first places I grabbed a cup of java when I first moved here eight years ago. Every time I've gone there they've met my primary requirement of any coffee shop, serve good tasting coffee and coffee based beverages. While the coffee they serve is usually warm, flavorful, and inviting, the exact opposite can be said about their decor .
The one thing that I noticed right off the bat was that the seating is cold and rigid in a way that makes me not want to spend time there. While I can understand the logic behind not having comfy coffee-absorbing furniture, there's a lot to be said for having something soft to sit on. The staff while most of time very competent at their job, tends to also be a little rough around the edges. I'm not saying they should hire nicer people who give a perky "hello" to everyone that walks in the door. I'm just saying share the bad day your having with your friends and coworkers, not the people you're serving.
Aurora is a great place to get coffee when you're on the go, but unless you're a fan of uncomfortable, minimalistic decor, grab your coffee and go. -

I love Aurora coffee. The staff is wonderful, the coffee rocks and the wifi rarely if ever fails me.
Want to get a visual overload of local posters of happenings around town? This is one of the best spots to take a look at all the social calendars for most of the venues in town for music, art, places to rent, job postings . . . I think I have even seen some self-help seminars posted on there too. Colorful and wacky - and a bit overwhelming, it's nice to look over my computer screen and check out something else to add to my personal calendar.
Beep Beep Gallery also curates the walls with many an artists work. Most of which is reasonably priced!
This place has also proved to be a great networking venue for me personally. You meet a lot of regulars. You exchange cards. I have pulled my CPA from there as well as many a client. Not bad for a $2.00 cup of coffee! -

There was no menu board hanging up when I was there, which was a little frustrating, but I ordered my usual summertime drink and was served one of the better Iced Americanos I've had. Aside from the great collection of gig posters, the interior is pretty spartan. They've got free wifi, but Aurora (at least the one here in 5 points) doesn't have the type of atmosphere that makes you want to settle in with a book or laptop. I was happy to choose a local option over the sbux next door, but I wish it were a little cozier.

Spent years as a barista so when I say that they make a stellar drink I'm not just some kid with a friend working behind the bar....
Music, is equally on time....
The customers represent all ages and walks of life, and generally have wisdom mixed with the witt which is refreshing indeed.
If I were from another city I would go here to people watch in the mornings. Sure, on the weekends you will encounter loads of folks from the suburbs,
Ok enough frothing.... -
Review from Kyndall M.
Atlanta, GA
The coffee is great. My one big complaint is that I can't hear myself think due to how loud the music is sometimes - contrary to popular belief, the music does not *always* rock - but then again the noise genre is really not my thing. I tried headphones on at full blast to no avail. I was the only customer in the shop at the time, so I finally asked if they could turn it down a little bit. They were like "oh no problem! sorry" then promptly turned it up again within 30 seconds. That's kind of obnoxious and rude. I can get coffee and work done elsewhere, I guess.
However, the manager did contact me about this review and said that this shouldn't happen in the store and he talked to the employees about it. I'll definitely be giving them another shot. -

Not much to say here:
Just the best damn coffee in Atlanta. Period. No weird unnatural "sour" aftertaste to their coffee. What's with that anyway? Starbuck's is totally disgusting - it actually tastes like metal. Blech!
Aurora is simply perfect. Oh, did I mention the cappuccinos?
I have never seen a more perfect froth of milk on a drink in Atlanta! Service is quick and always correct.
I just wish they would bring back the dark chocolate covered espresso beans! -

Great iced coffee and I love the simplicity of the interior. The outside of that shopping center is wrought with crazy black + color muralistic nonsense and store signage. This location also has a nice deck that I just sunned the f* out of myself on. I was hoping to get a super farmer tan since the pool at the Marriott Marquis was currently undergoing renovation. I would go here if you want to feel cool and indie rock.
