Wow! the best hair cut ever! the best color ever!!! it is more than that...it is a great experience. Sam is the name of my hairdresser. she is super nice, polite and talented! She is the best!

I had one hell of a week and decided it was time to sit back, relax, and get my hair done by an actual professional. (Sorry Clairol, you are in fact "Nice" and "Easy" but sometimes that just doesn't cut it. Pun intended. Ha.)
I went to Lori based on the reviews here on Yelp and absolutely will go back. She spent a considerable amount of time on my consultation, something that you hardly ever see. I was totally unsure of what I was looking to do and she made the process an easy one. We chatted away for the entire time, another long lost luxury of the industry... I'm usually ignored by the stylist as she talks with co-workers.
My cut and color came out fabulous. I am horrible with upkeep. Horrible. BUT I will absolutely come back. The place is clean and pretty and the staff is fantastic. If you're looking for a stuck up staff and mediocrity in general please do look at my other reviews...

THe salon is clean, pretty, well run and efficient. But the best part of the salon is Meredith. Well yes I am a little bias because she has done a great job with my hair two times now.
The first time the consult was very throurough she knew what she was doing and I felt very secure in her hands. My color came out perfect it was rich in depth and highlights. The cut was clean and took my baby fine hair and made it actually do what I wanted.
The second time I had more of an idea of what i wanted and she just listened said what she thought was a good idea and then she went to work an hour later my hair was lighter, had more movement, i had bangs and clean eyebrows.
Of course like everyone says the price is great. So its just a special.
GO TO MEREDITH! easy to talk to and knows her stuff -

I also drink the Lori kool-aid. I am beyond passive when it comes to my hair, so I appreciate that Lori can run with my vague generalizations and make it look like I had a well conceived vision from the outset every time. In addition to knowing her stuff, she's also got personality. Every time I have my hair done, it takes 2.5 hours, and I am not the type to be able to sit in silence that long. Luckily, with Lori I don't ever seem to run out of stuff to talk about. I'll take a cute cut, highlights, and good conversation any day.
Added bonus (perhaps best of all), my wallet doesn't really hurt after my quarterly visit for a cut and color. Is it more expensive than I paid while living in NH? Obviously But not by much. -

I was so impressed by the service of this salon.
I went in for a color correction and Merri did an amazing job. She provided a thorough consultation, was speedy yet detailed in the color and the highlights. AND she stayed an hour after closing to ensure that my color was just right.
The cherry on top was the price. Yes, I had sticker shock. But actually bc
the price was WAY cheaper than I expected!

Found this place with the help of yelp. I made the appointment the day before and they fit me in no problem. I did not have a hairdresser preference so it might be a little less flexible when you know who you want. I had an appointment at 6pm with Sara. I got there at exactly six and was immediately taken to her chair for the consultation. No waiting at all. I told her what i wanted she washed, cut and styled my hair in 30 minutes. It came out adorable and she was very nice. The whole shebang cost me 45 dollars which is definitely not bad. Not sure what the prices are like for coloring.
I definitely will go back. Parking in the private lot out back is a plus! -

Clean & hip salon. Long hours. Great prices. Friendly staff.
I trusted my fellow Yelpers on this one and tried it out. My concerned mother thought I should only go to a salon that was recommended by word-of-mouth but, hey, I'm an adventurous girl.
I usually get my hair cut like, once a year. So I definitely wanted to take a good 3-4 inches off. I wasn't going to do anything crazy since it was a new hairdresser (no more driving from N. Quincy to Middleton for a haircut! yay!)... I took off about 3 inches, long layers, and side bangs. I LOVE IT.
Sara(h?) did a GREAT job. And I'll definitely be back to cut even more off next time!
They accept credit cards for payment but tips are CASH ONLY. There's a private lot out back or you can park on the street.
Be careful of the Asian drivers & the T buses. -

Just got back from my second visit at Aura salon and must say that I am extremely impressed. My first visit was good, but I wasn't 100% thrilled with my color afterwards or the time the stylist took explaining options. I waited a long time (with a few half-arsed self color applications in the meantime) before returning. This time around I met with Grace who listened for a long time about my color concerns (stubborn grays, issues with too dark of a base color & damaged ends). She thoroughly explained my options & we made a plan. Two hours later & I'm absolutely thrilled. My hair is very shiny and the color is spot on. I feel like a new woman! I definitely give Grace 5 stars (she knows her stuff) & if my third visit goes the same way, I will also update the salon to 5 starts.
Kudos to Aura for nice decor, cleanliness, friendly staff & service (yummy hot coffee/cookies). -

Notes: I loved the shampooing experience with Lori. She used Sexy Hair soy shampoo and conditioner. She understood my hair and gave me great suggestions for growing it out. She used Morroccan Oil before my blow dry and my hair feels and looks amazing! I bought the oil. I will come again. -

I love this place. Everybody's super nice, it's really inexpensive (something like 80 bucks for a single process color, cut, and blowdry), and Lori is completely the best ever. Request her definitely! She gave me the best haircut I've ever gotten - exactly what I wanted when I pictured it in my head. Plus she's awesome with color - and the first time she did my hair, she wrote down my style, even though I didn't make an appointment to come back so there was no real reason to have that on record - so when I did come back, she had the exact color specifications handy. Yay!
The whole staff is really nice, they're great about being on time with stuff so you don't have to wait, and if you do have to wait they offer you coffee. -

I went to Aura about 2 weeks ago craving the haircut seen on the woman gracing the most recent issue of the Improper Bostonian.
My hairdresser was very thorough. I loved how as she styled my hair she gave me detailed tips on how to recreate the look at home. She checked with me often to see whether I liked how things were progressing.
I agree with the other reviewer about not being pressured. The fact that I was never pressured to buy products is a big plus for me. I felt as though the price for my haircut and blowdry was reasonable. All in all, I was very pleased with my experience here. -

I was a walk-in, and I was taken right away. Not the BEST haircut I've had (I asked for something with a little more pizzazz, as my hair is really long and I've had pretty much the same style for the past year, and basically left with a trimmed version of what I already have), but for a great price - $45 - I was pretty happy. I'd come again, but probably be a little more specific about what I want done with my hair next time.

I started going to Aura a little over a year ago when my hairdresser changed salons. It is very convenient, the staff is talented, and I am always happy with their friendly service. Plus, my hairdresser, Amanda, is WAY cool:)

I love this place! After paying Newbury Street prices for a few years I was so happy to find a salon that offered the same quality but a better price. I went there last night for a cut, partial foil and blow out and was VERY happy with the results. I have really thick and curly hair which is hard for a lot of hairdressers to handle but Kim did a fabulous job and I will definitely be going back! I really liked that instead of pressuring you to buy product, they give you free samples of what they used in your hair so you can try it out yourself at home before buying!

I believe Kim was my hairdresser. It was the quickest haircut I have ever gotten in my life. The cut literally took like 15 minutes and after blowdrying my hair smooth, I thought my hair looked alright, not great...just alright. When I got home, I noticed that one side was shorter than the other. I have been pissed off about this ever since. I will not be going back there.
The 2 stars are for the location and the attitude of the staff there, they were all very friendly. Unfortunately, the talent was not up to par. -

I have been bouncing around different salons for almost 3 years now and am VERY happy that Aura was recommended to me. I love Kerin, she is very nice and extremely talented when it comes to color and cuts. I have short hair and like funkier styles. Kerin puts a lot of time and effort into getting the exact result that I want as well as asks questions along the way. I've finally found my place.

Went to see Kerin this past Tuesday to get my hair de-virginized! I showed up a few minutes early... the girl at the front desk took my coat for me and offered me a beverage while I waited. Kerin came out to greet me right on time, and got right to work. As usual, she was extremely courteous and professional throughout my entire appointment and made me feel like my business was both wanted and appreciated. The coloring she did looks great... it's very subtle, but gives some color to my dark locks. Pricewise, a partial foil, wash, cut and blow dry cost me about $100... and took about an hour and fifteen minutes. I love how it came out!

I ran across this salon on Yelp and decided to make an appointment to get my hair colored. I had an appointment with Sara this morning and it went very well! First of all, I didn't have to wait at all, she got me right in so that was awesome! I find it very aggravating when I'm at a salon and bring a picture and tell the stylist what I want, but the end result looks nothing what I asked for ( which usually happens to me alot!). However, I explained to Sara what I wanted done and the color I wanted to go with and she did exactly what I asked for and my hair looks amazing. I got a full foil and style and it was only $130! Also, another great thing she did that really stuck out to me was that she actually took the time to style my hair well! I have realllllllly thick hair so it can be a HUGE pain to blowdry! In my whole life, I've never had a stylist just use the perfect technique to blow dry my hair and not have to use a straightener on it! I was very impressed! I went to the mall after getting my hair done and at least 5 people stopped me to tell me how amazing my hair looked! I'm 100% satisfied with Aura salon (it takes alot to make me happy when it comes to my hair..I can kind of be high maintenance! lol) One more thing, sometimes I feel awkward at new salons and feel like I have nothing to talk about with the stylist since we dont really know each other but there wasn't a bit of awkward silence at all! She was very friendly, personable, and did an OUTSTANDING job!!! I'm now a loyal aura customer! Can't wait to go back!! :)
