My whole time on Kauai, I was looking for something unique, special, and local to bring back with me to the mainland. After much searching, and deciding that I don't want to bring back the typical Hawaiian shirt at the local tourist shop, I stumbled upon Aunty Lilikoi due to some advertisements that you find in those Kauai books at the airport. I wasn't expecting much since I was just passing by on the way to Waimea Canyon but I was pleasantly surprised.
After walking in, the gentlemen handed my gf and I spoons and commenced to give us samples of several (something like 8 in total) of their lilikoi products that ranged from butter, jelly, wasabi mustard dressing, and teriyaki sauce. After a while, I was getting a bit overwhelmed with all the variety of lilikoi related products. After much decision making, I went home with a few bottles of their award winning Passion Wasabi Dressing which I thought had the most unique taste.
They do have lilikoi chiffron pie but I would STAY AWAY from it. I told them that I had some amazing lilikoi pie at Hamura Saimin Stand and that I didn't know if their lilikoi pie could match up with it and they reassured me that theirs was better hands down. WRONG. There is no comparison. It's like comparing the quality of Godiva chocolate to Milk Duds.
Aunty Lilikoi is a brand of products made from lilikoi (also known as passion fruit). You can buy their stuff in a lot of stores in Hawaii, but everything is made in Waimea. I've sampled their goods, even bought them before, and I've driven past their store many times, but never stopped. So, this time I did.
I talked for a while with the owner. I don't know her real name, but she is the one who founded Aunty Lilikoi. All of the products are made right in Waimea. They have a small display shelf on the side where you can purchase everything. You can also try samples of whatever you'd like. You can order all Aunty Lilikoi products online and they ship a lot out of the store.
I ended up buying a mix and match Aunty Lilikoi sampler pack so that I could give little gifts to people when we got home. I also got some of the Passion Wasabi Mustard. It's so delicious. Sweet, but with a kick. Oh, and I'm not alone in liking this mustard. Aunty Lilikoi's Passion Wasabi Mustard was the 2005 Grand Champion of the Annual Napa Valley Mustard Festival's Worldwide Mustard Competition in California. It beat out 303 mustards from 19 states and 4 countries, and included entries from some mustard makers you may have heard of: Grey Poupon? Beat it! Gulden's? Beat it!
The owner also told me about a business her sister started called Salty Wahine. As the name might suggest, they make products using Hawaiian sea salt, and sell them at Aunty Lilikoi's shop. I decided to try out a Hawaiian Rub, which we have already used and really liked.

Saw an ad for this place in every tourist magazine and since I was on the hunt for unique gift items to bring back we decided to stop by.
Don't be discouraged from the shop itself, located in a strip, sparsely decorated, etc. The woman behind the counter, whom I believe is Aunty Lilikoi herself, was super friendly and allowed us to sample many items. Some things are not for sampling, however, mostly body products, which was a bit discouraging.
The flavor of the different jellies, syrups, butters, etc. was delicous and convinced us that this was what we wanted to bring back with us. She offered to ship the items in a USPS Priority mail box (stuff with as much as you like for $13). We picked out many of the small jars and a few of the larger bottles of syrups and had them sent back. They would have put our baggage over the weight allowance!
Prices are reasonable for a handmade product and I would recommend you take a trip when you're in the area.
I love Auntie Lilikoi products! They make the best gifts to take home and are really unique! The proprietor herself works the store and is very friendly, giving out samples and talking about how she started the business! Yes, they carry her products at Longs and other stores on the Island, but I like getting them from the actual place she makes them!
Last time I was there I stocked up on Passion Guava and Passion Papaya Jellies, Passion Coconut Syrup (think white chocolate, macadamia nut pancakes!), Passion Fruit Dressing (my favorite!) and regular and wasabi mustard! I also got Passion Fruit Massage oil, which I get compliments on all the time....every one thinks I smell great! yay!
If you go into the store and want to buy a food product, ask how to use it, she will give you great tips and recipe ideas! I used the jellies I bought to make chicken skewers and OMG OMG OMG.

No need to visit the store in Waimea unless you want to save on tax or sample everything including beauty products. It's a very small no-frills store.
The retail prices are exactly the same at the store as at Long's or wherever else you find these great products in Hawaii! Or, just go to the website if you don't want to lug all the jars home in your checked baggage!
The wasabi mustard has won national awards (Napa Valley Mustard Festival; see website).
My husband LOVES the passion fruit butter on sourdough toast. He's becoming an Urban Islander too! :)

I have an addiction to passion fruit... so this is the best place to stock up when you're on vacation, if you happen to have the same urges. The best thing here was the wasabi mustard... sweet, tangy, with a kick! It's also a little cheaper compared to some of these gourmet mustards that I find at home in SF. The original mustard is more sweet than anything, but it's still much better than any plain/dijon/honey mustard I've had so far.
I would give it a 5, but I'm not that into some of the other products they sell. Marinades are tasty, but I can't get into the jelly/syrups. The best part is that you can order it online, if you don't have plans to head back to the island anytime soon. Shipping is super cheap and I've restocked on some goodies this way, when my original purchases disappeared.

This is dedicated to our travel mate Jessica.
This place is like crack... their jellies are amazing and their marinades are liquid sunshine. We didn't go to this location, we went to the small shack that is located on the mini pulga (shopping area) near the Spouting Horn..... Wasabi Mustard..yep all over that @#$@# like a pimp in the Mission District.
Best part.. super cheap and shipping is relatively inexpensive.... sign me up!

Delish (and low-sugar) lillikoi sorbet which we had to go back for more another day, but really all the products are good and we bought a bunch.
Aunty Lillikoi's sister was helping us, she was very friendly and informative.

The best lilikoi wasabi mustard ever!!! The lady working there was so friendly, giving us samples and explaining everything to us. They have jelly, mustard, and even beauty products. The wasabi mustard is so good and it's five dollars a jar. A little expensive for mustard, but cheap for LILIKOI WASABI!! It's got a sweet flavor, but you can taste the slight kick of the wasabi. I ran out a couple months ago, and I'm so sad! It's a good thing we're getting some soon!! I love to eat it with my chicken nuggets and my family loves to use it any homemade dressings. It's a really versatile condiment! You can bring little bottles to your family and friends if you bring souveniers home to them. Trust me, they'll love it!

I didn't have a chance to stop by the actual storefront, but I did purchase some Aunty Lilikoi passion fruit mustard. It's delicious! It reminds me of a honey mustard and I imagine it would be good with chicken strips or fries.
