Auntie Rita's is still amazing, but I wanted to update my prior review with some new info. The great hot sauce they used to have on their tables is gone. I would be upset at this were it not for the fact that they are now making their own hot sauce. It is clearly scotch-bonnet pepper based, so it has a very present and quick burn at first taste, but there is also a nice vinegar presence as well, which adds a sharp piquancy to round out and extend the warmth of the sauce. It's quite nice on curries, stews, and jerks, but as with their old sauce, be aware that is truly spicy when you apply it.
One other update is that they've had some other items when I've visited the past couple of times. They had delicious BBQ'd ribs one time, and a braised pork that was incredible on another trip. While neither dish was Jamaican per se, they obviously put the same level of care into these dishes as they do their Caribbean specialties. I enjoyed both of them immensely.
This place is a gem, and I am so glad I found it.

A hidden gem in the Bronx. Amazing staff serve up fresh west Indian food, stew chicken, stew pork, jerk chicken, curry chicken, peas and rice, fish etc. Best lunch special in the neighborhood and also the best portion. I really love going to this place. Easily the best West Indian Restaurant in all of the Bronx.

I have been working at Lehman College for 20+years and have always had a craving for goo caribbean food. Well I finally found Auntie's today! What a pleasant surprise. I had the stewed pork with rice and peas and cabbage and it was delicious. Definitely a fan and will be back for some more. Oh and the extra plus is that they have Roti. It is a Guyanese/Trini operation...how can you go wrong with that? You can't!

I've been working in the Bronx for about seven months now and this might be my favorite restaurant so far. Had great jerk chicken lunch special, came with so much food I could barely finish it. And I like-a da sauce!
Best for lunch and takeout probably. Not exactly a fancy dining out dinner experience. But real good. Of all the Bronx caribbean lunch places I've tried, this is several notches above. -

Ahh Yes Auntie Rita's. Ive been working in the Bronx over a year before I found this place. I have been trying to eat healthy and this place does it for me, Grilled Jerk Chicken with Cole slaw and a small side of rice. Dave is the man, not only is he friendly but his servings are generous and very reasonably priced. I am Hispanic and this place pleases my pallet and I recently recommended it to my Caucasian boss who is now in love with it. It is safe to say Dave's menu transcends thru all cultural spectrums.

Ya, mon! Aunties is a very welcome addition to the area with few good choices for dining. Here' you'll find authentic delicious Carribean dishes. Framed poster of Bob Marley greats you at the doorway upon entry. Island dance tunes play in the background. Counter staff of two serving, chef in the back, no waitstaff for tables at lunch.
Scotch Bonnet Spicy Mango Hot Sauce decorate the tables, the bottles filled with what looks like sweet and sour fruit. Be sure to read the label first which shouts HOT! HOT! HOT! I added a liberal splash to my rice and they are not kidding. I was looking for milk or custard to defuse the heat, but none was to be had. My eyes were crying but my mouth was smiling, food is that tasty.
Note that the menu changes on whim of the chef, depending on what fresh ingredient are available.
Lunch special runs at a very reasonable $4.99 for a substantial helping of rice and beans, steamed veggies and a selection of choices such as jerk or curry chicken. Fried Whiteing with Coco Bread also a strong choice. Macaroni and cheese is made with real cheese and not cheese food/cheese substitute.
Free delivery with no minimum, catering available. Lunch was such a hit today, we plan to order in from Auntie for our upcoming Holiday Party. I'm looking forward to restarting my love affair with oxtails. -

Dave is the man!!!! Makes you feel like you are at your own home. Real funny and smart dude. And ofcourse the most important thing....the food..... All fresh ingredients and the flavors are all exuted correctly. The jerk chicken with chick pea rice and egg salad is a dish worth checking out. Love the hint of coconut. The beef and chicken patties rule...especially with coco bread and aunie ritas hot sauce and bbq sauce. And my favorite selection on the menu.... The fish sandwich! Check this place out if you re in the area.

I found this restaurant on here when looking for a catering company that would not break the bank so to speak. I said well let me try it this place the reviews seem pretty good. I went to the store to try out the food and they gave me a large plate for free to try out prior to booking them to cater my wedding reception the food was so good I ended up taking a plate home. The food was awesome the macaroni and cheese was made nice and cheesy with love, oxtails were soft and nice, Jerk chicken was good, the collard greens were made to my liking and would truly bring joy to any palate. One concern I did have was that the rice was made with coconut milk and mu fiance is allergic to coconut so I did not want to take any chance. I did bring it to their attention and they made a yellow rice that was done within minutes at the reception. Everyone enjoyed the food so much. The food was amazing and I must say that this will be my new place for every event that I have going forward no if ands or buts about it. I look forward to doing alot more business with this couple and I must say that the price was unbeatable! This is definitely the place to go for lunch, dinner, or catering for your next event.
