Ok, I'll get right to it.  They ALWAYS have good food.   And great service (one of them even knows my name! It touches me in my heart department).  I mostly get the special, which is like opening a gift at your favorite deli.

I say go here.  You will find some type of soup or sandwich you'll like, the sides are tastamonious, and it's super close (well, to me it is, like a 30 second walk)!  Everything is good.  Really good.

Why is it missing a star?  I never eat there.  I always get it to go.  I feel like I'm not the right demographic.  I think there are slot machines in the back and the bar, it seems, is for older regulars who have been regularing for 30+ years.

But I still love you Aunt Tillie, and your little dog too (kidding, she doesn't have a dog...I don't think?)

This isn't the 1st time we've eaten there, I think we ate there most in the Hollywood area in the last 30+ years!  But this time, I'm giving them one star less, because of my hubby's burned tuna melt. He had Split Pea & Ham soup with his sandwich. Se photo on file.

My sandwich?  It was good!  I had a Chicken Salad sandwich on Pita bread, and they surprised me with green raisins, I thought it was unusually sweet, maybe they added some sugar, but I saw the green raisins, and that was why!  Their salad was a bit too feeling, I wanted greens, but they have 4 choices, and the only one there that was tempting was their potato salad - was craving for one.

We went back to have a take-out hot cocoa, mixed with milk, no whipping cream  I was heading out the door, i asked for a straw, and he gave me a straw that got lost inside my cup!  I found one for cold drinks, by the counter away from where they made the sandwiches.

Aunt Tillie's is not fancy. They don't put the sandwiches on ciabatta or baguettes. They put them on sliced bread, like Orowheat or something. They make col-slaw, potato salad and pasta salad. I always get the pasta salad and it has mayonnaise and crumbled up cheddar slices and little pieces of celery. It is slightly sweet, just like your grandma's. The sandwiches are consistently made with love, despite staff turnover. They put shredded iceberg lettuce on them. I love shredded iceberg lettuce with mayonnaise and mustard; it's like bland food nirvana. I took my brother here once and he showed me how I could get an even tastier roast beef sandwich than what I had been getting. On request we got pickles, onions and pickled spicy peppers on top of the already generous tomato, lettuce, cheese, meat sandwich that they normally serve.
Today I branched out and had the turkey reuben. It was Incredible! My wife's lentil soup was pretty good too. She thought it was bland, but it just wasn't as good as my lentil soup. It would be hard to be as good as my lentil soup.
I also forgot to mention that they have a pretty nice tap selection here as well as bottled beers. This place should really be more popular than it is.

Was looking for a nifty little place for lunch now that I work in the area. The problem with this was there didn't seem to be a sign. It's in the middle of an Antique Emporium or something, with other shops along the sides inside. So I walked up and down the street a couple of times, till I realized there was a menu sign with a figure of a lady, but still nothing saying "Aunt Tillies". Perhaps I'm blind.
**The food was good** Had the soup and sandwich combo. Mushroom bisque (yummy and lots of mushrooms) and turkey club. Perfect amount, nothing fancy, but just really good tasting.  I'll definitely be back.
They also have beer and wine, and looks like several beers on tap.
4 stars is my usual really good rating. You have to go above and beyond for 5 in my book. Since I had to hunt for it, that didn't help (though I know just where to go now).

I had a great sandwich here yesterday and wanted to write something about that experience. I had the Rueben type TURKEY sandwich and was out of this world.  I will go back next time and order some soup with a different sandwich. HOME MADE gilled samdwiches and your tummy will agree and appreciate that!

This is the best quick lunch and or sandwich shop in the Hollywood area My favorite lunch is 1/2 a Reuben and what ever pasta salad they have... or is it on Friday when they have home made Clam Chowder, rich, creamy and no shortage of clams. I am a little bit of a germaphobe: trust me they are always working hard to keep the deli clean. If your live or work in Hollywood you are likely to run into a neighbor or friend at Aunt Tilly's. They also have beer and wine.

talk about hole in the walls. this place is in the very random antique mall in hollywood. old and crappy looking, but what a gem! the sandwiches here are fantastic.  the turkey reuben (the rachel) is sooooo good.  i love this old school place- so anti-portland as it is not an ounce of trendy or green, or local, sustainable anything. it looks like it's been there for about 50 years. GREAT food.
