haha. I love the reviewer on here that calls this place a snow cone dive! Like really, as opposed to all those palatial elegant snow cone places.
But I getwhat she's driving at and she's right. It's a little sketch in the neighborhood but the snow cones are so sweet, so crunchy that you will find yourself asking, "hey isn't it time to go hit our favorite snow cone dive?"
Try it, you'll like it. -

Bebe. You have not had a sno cone until you've had Aunt Stelle's! It's the best and everyone knows it! Perfectly shaved ice that melts in your mouth with just the right amount of juice. I love the menu which is super super simple and has only about 10 or 11 flavors. You know you hate the places that have like 100 flavors with ridiculous names for the flavors you have to always ask "Ok well what does that one taste like?"
Be prepared to stand in that line for a while. Especially mid-day in 100+ weather. I told you everyone knows it's the best! -

It pains me to say this because I live in Oak Cliff an this place is a landmark, but they are very overrated. The people are sweet, and they do have some of the best ice (it's almost like snow) but they are a bit skimpy on the syrup and after a minute I'm left with a white sno cone with the little bit of flavor sunken to the bottom. I feel like they've slowly gone downhill over the years, and because of the price it is unacceptable.
TC's sno cones on Garland road has equally good ice (if not better) and they pack them full of flavor. They are my new favorite.
So here's to hoping Aunt Stelle's get's her groove back. I will still go because they are close, but my confidence is waning. -

Total walk-up sno-cone dive. But, they have the best sno-cones I've ever had. Period. Be prepared to wait though, this place always has a line. Always.
The ice is really the perfect ice for sno-cones, which is what determines if your sno-cone is good (or not good). I also like mine syrupy, so I try to sweet talk the women at the counter for some extra syrup (it works about 75% of the time).
It's cash only. I've literally gone with fistfuls of change.

Ah Oak Cliff, you are amazing. I heart you.
Some lil tid bits...
-Open from the LAST Sunday in April to Labor Day.
-Hrs 2pm-9pm Thursday-Sunday.
-If you're not in line at 9pm...you get no love. They send someone out to stand at the end of the line. Once the light turns off on their sign, so sorry.
-Cold, Refreshing, nice nice nice people running it.
-The owners live two doors down and have been in business for 42 years! FO REALZ!
Snow cones places are so few now-a-days. Bring the kiddies, old and young. Enjoy! Try the Pink Lady (vanilla ice cream flavor) and Root beer...ROOT BEER FLOAT! Mmmmm....

This is what Dallas is really about.
I'm going back to D-town in August and this is one of my required stops. It's an Oak Cliff thing. If you didn't grow up here you probably wouldn't understand. -

Ah, Aunt Stelle's. Sno cone purveyor of my childhood...
What a treat to move back to the neighborhood of my youth and discover that Aunt Stelle's was still alive and kicking. Standing in line many years after the era of acne and Tiger Beat, I noticed that the hand-painted menu is still the same one. And the door. And the sno cone machine, too. There is just something fantastic about longevity and presence. And Aunt Stelle's has it.
Make the trip out to Oak Cliff for a sno cone. You'll be glad you did. (And no, you won't have to dodge bullets going to OC. C'mon, that's just silliness.)Listed in: My Oak Cliff

We always love to visit Aunt Stelle's. It is a regular after dinner stop after dining in Bishop Arts or at La Calle Doce. The other reviews certainly go into better detail but it is a cheap, unique and tasty snow cone that hits the spot during the summer.

I grew up on Aunt Stelle's snow cones. Always the same snow cone, too: jumbo strawberry, extra syrup. I also grew up in the neighborhood and know the Williams family. Freda and her husband currently head up the business. I've told her that I will work for free if she ever wants to open a stand at the State Fair just so she can show everybody the definition of world class and what Oak Cliff can do.
Freda's father, Leon Williams, built the snow machine and held patents at one time. The syrup is home made from recipes. If memory serves me right, Mr Williams was a CPA and wanted to do something as a sideline when he opened the stand. His wife, Estelle, the namesake for the business, partnered with him and they lovingly served everybody that made it to their window. That love is passed on to customers today by Freda and her husband. Daughter Destiny is a physicist and may not have time for the family business. Hopefully Freda will keep the stand running for years to come and eventually Destiny will change her mind.
I moved to the burbs years ago, but I get to the stand as much as possible. No matter how much I talk the place up to friends, I've yet to have one tell me that it isn't the best snow cone they've ever had. These are folks from all over Texas.
Aunt Stelle's and SRV...the two best things to ever come out of Dallas. -

Aunt Stelles is an Oak Cliff institution. We used to come here on dates, for goodness sakes(!) 30 years ago! It's in an old house and everybody who is anybody in Oak Cliff has been here including Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughn! My fave is coconut but there are so many choices that you need to have made up your mind before you get up to order lest you hold up the inevitable long line on Friday and Saturday nights. Still inexpensive and well worth the wait in line.

What an experience! The place looks like someone's front yard. You have to stand in line for what seems like the better part of 15 minutes but the taste selection is awesome. The ice could be finer but you get plenty of syrup so everything is flavorful. They are open 2-9pm Wed through Sunday.

Hours Thurs-Sun, 2-9pm. Trying to keep cool? Tired of ice cream and big gulps? Then may I recommend a refreshing sno-cone. Not many places like this left. Bring the kids and reminence. Come parched, leave happy. Though come with cash, cause there ain't no credit cards or ATMs 'round here.

Ever since I gave up my Snoopy Sno-Cone machine, snow cones just haven't tasted as good. This was until I found out about Aunt Stelle's. Aunt Stelle's makes waiting on the sidewalk thinking about which of the flavors you want actually fun. Can't say enough good things about this place. And actually if you stand in front of the building and squint, it kind of looks like my treasured Snoopy Sno-Cone machine.

Wonderful, fluffy sno-cones come from Aunt Stelle's. They are always delicious and flavorful, and well-priced too. If you ever in this area, you MUST try a sno-cone from Aunt Stelle's

It's starting to warm up and I'm starting to think of Aunt Stelle's. It doesn't open until late April, and I can't wait. it's Sno-Cone Heaven! Parking can be hard to find. Even on cool days you'll have to wait in a long line. At night the mesquitoes can eat you alive, and it's not in the best part of town (doesn't sound like heaven does it). It's a small price to pay for the best sno-cones on earth. They have mystery flavors like turtle and pink lady. ( I think turtle tastes like black licorice, if i remember correctly). Just ask at the counter and she'll tell you what they taste like or be adventurous. If you get larger than a small she'll do two flavors in one cone 1/2 per side. My favorite is cinnamon and pineapple . They even have two sugar free flavors (you have to ask and they're and extra 25 cents). a word of advice; Don't mix the sour apple with anything though. It's so overpowering you can't taste anything else but that. If you're not afraid to south of the Trinity, I'm sure you'll like it.
