If I could, I would bring my bed to Aunt Sadie's and make sweet love to it.
I have always been enamored with the delightful array of greeting cards, fun and unique gift ideas, delicious inappropriate 50s housewife magnets, and (of course) the candles that smell AMAZING.
This winter I bought a pine tree candle and my apartment smelled like Christmas well into February until I was told it was no longer Christmas (I was as shocked as I'm sure most of you would be to learn that Christmas actually "ends"). So I bought another Aunt Sadie's candle to replace it. It has horses on it.
I could spend hours browsing the store but try to keep my visits short and polite, down to 30 minutes or less.
PS. They have the most amazing tote bags made to look like men's suit jackets, shirts and ties. I MUST OWN ONE.
I go here on a nearly weekly basis. -

This is a fun place to come in and browse or shop for unique gifts. They always have some interesting stuff and you are sure to find something a little out of the ordinary. Some of their prices are a little insane, but for some things, it's fairly reasonable. Anyone I've ever gotten a gift for from Aunt Sadie's loved it.
Reyelp/Update: I bought a chocolate scented candle at Aunt Sadie's last month and wow. This thing is awesome. First of all, it's in a cute tin and looks good. Secondly, it actually smells like chocolate when it's burning. I light the candle now after dinner so it burns while I am having coffee or an after dinner drink, and honestly, smelling it makes you almost feel like you are eating chocolate. This is probably super weird, but I don't even feel like having dessert anymore because you feel like you are enjoying chocolate when you burn this candle, even though you are not actually eating it.Listed in: Gift Shopping

Entering Aunt Sadie's is like visiting your kickass cool-as-shit grandma's house, which she occasionally likes to decorate with stuff from Anthropologie.
Even though some of it is not my style (too shabby chic, or vintage French, or whatever that genre is being called these days), it's definitely one of my top favorite go-to stores for when I'm in need of a gift.
And the resident puppy that is sometimes napping in the corner? Adorable! -

I love browsing in Aunt Sadies, longing for the day I can afford to buy the whole store out. They've always got neat and weird things to buy (Indian Curry toothpaste! Hello!) . The only downside is that they are rather pricey- but I keep having to remind myself I'm in the South End- everything in the South End is pricey.
Plus, best collection of Eiffel tower stuff in all of Boston!Listed in: Your Unofficial Guide to the…

I am totally addicted to this shop for a number of reasons.
As mentioned before, their candles are truely the shizzle. While they have great gifts, cards, e.t.c., their holiday decorations are my second favorite thing to shop for.
Be sure to hit up their sales, where you can get candles for cheap (usually they have some minor dent or ding in the tin).
Best part is that they are always friendly, even if you are just window shopping. -

Not Roxbury!!! It's south end.
Love this store. It is perfect for UNIQUE gifts (hostess gifts, birthday gifts, etc...) Some of the decor is a little garish, but overall it's so fun. Baby stuff, home decor, coffee table books, and great candles (which you can also buy at Anthropologie now FYI) -

If I could move in, I would. This boutique is full of great finds and more importantly comes with a sense of humor. You can certainly tell there was a very fabulous inspiration for this store.
I snagged a great framed print of a pink dress. It was tough choosing between the dress and antlers that said "Oh deer".
It's hard to pop in here and leave empty handed. The prices are reasonable, the employees are great and the inventory is darling. -

Really cute shop with all sorts of candles, cards, soaps and other items for the home. It's really perfect for housewarming and hostess gifts, or if you're planning a theme dinner party.
The store is organized by color which is kitschy and cute.
*Just went in the other day and it looks like they're planning on opening a second store with similarly sassy items for sale... -

Ahh...a place to feed my soap, candle, and kitsch addiction to full throttle!
Their candles and soaps are a must have staple around the house. Just must have simple as that damnit.
Their kitschy stuff is either just downright hilarious or too friggin cute for words. In either case they're perfect as gifts to give or keep for yourself. Wander on in and let the crazy warm fuzzy that is Aunt Sadie's wash over you. You will be converted darn you, you will, you must!! -

I found this spot to be a prime joint to grab a gift, especially for someone with a baby! I was however thoroughly disappointed in their customer service.
The store is stacked with every type of small treat you can imagine, candles, soaps, notes, etc. If the gal behind the counter could offer up a "hello", "can I help you find anything" or at least a "good riddance" I would have been much more satisfied! -

A birthday present for my friend who LOVES chocolate in any way, shape or form VS. a Chocolate scented candle
Who makes birthday shopping easy as mud pie? the spirit of Aunt Sadie (which supposedly lives in each candle)
Chocolate scented candle = exquisitely DIVINE scent! If this candle had been lying around my apt and didn't have a wick in it, I would have ended up with a mouth full of wax because of the huge ol' bite that would have resulted...
Huge selection of hand poured candles, much classier and better fragranced than typical candles sold in discount bins.
Plus, lots of other typical boutique items, a little pricey but hey, you're on the Southend! Support local business! -

This is a fun store, with more than just candles. Unique gifts, and quite a range- things for babies, boxer-briefs, soaps, stuffed animals, cute little knick-nacs and housewares, and of course, fun scented candles. A really fun store to browse around in as you're walking around the South End.
Actually- unless I don't know they have a second store, the address should read Boston, MA- it is in the South End, off of Tremont Street. The Union St part is correct. -

I'm pretty sure this is in the South End, not Roxbury.
This store is super cute. Lots of kitschy pseudo vintage stuff, books, crafts, candles, adorable buttons and mugs, holiday music, a whole host of snacky things that shoppers can try, tinsel christmas trees, lots of adorably quirky stuff for babies, high quality scented candles and soaps, photography books...
Very quirky and cute while maintaining a level of originality that a lot of stores selling to a similar demographic seem to lack. I like it when crafty or homemade aren't used as an excuse for lacking in quality, and Aunt Sadies doesn't seem to rest on its laurels when it comes to those things. -

This is a very cute store with lots of great gift/ spoil yourself ideas. It's a great way to kill some time and browse for things you can't really find in mainstream stores.
So if you have a house warming, birthday, anniversary, new baby or just plain "you are my friend" gift giving occasion apporaching, i would swing by. they lost that last star for high prices, so heads up. -

I have the pleasure of cutting one of the owners' hair of this unique store in the South End. I finally made it down to see for myself and I really did fall in love with the place and was surprised to see so many more wonderful things besides very cool aroamatic candles. I love the way the items are displayed within a certain color group. Keep up the wonderful flavorful/scent-filled work.

Candles that smells great, packaged super chic and great for gifts are hard to find. Except that Aunt Sadie's is the best place to get super cute candles, gifts among many other things.
Cool store with many amazing trinkets, candles and gift items. Everything are well priced and their merchandise are simply irresistible.
PS: Those tin candles make such great gifts! -

aunt sadie's is kind of like a spencer's gifts for grown up women. there's lots of cute stuff to touch, smell, ooh and aah over, and hold up to your friend (omg! look at this owl plate! it's soooo cathy!). it's a great place to shop for gifts, especially for the more domesticated women in your life. there's also a fun section to the side with kitschy toys and knickknacks that will keep the bf busy while you browse.
they carry their own line of aunt sadie's scented candles with an impressive variety of scents but other than that, most of their merchandise can be found at shops like anthroplogie, urban outfitters, and paper source. since i don't live in the neighborhood, i'd be more likely to go out of my way to shop at aunt sadies if they carried more unique items and local designers. -

Aunt Sadie's is the best little boutique store around. They have a fun, helpful staff ("But I can't decide on the candle scent I want! What's your favorite? This one? Oooo, it is nice - I'll take it!"), great little gifts ("look! Isn't this glass tea set precious?! Sister gets it for Xmas.") and the best selection of candles that come in a variety of scents and graphics printed on the outside ("Ok, I have to get this one because it says summer and this one matches with our living room perfectly."). I love all their home items and they have great sales ("But do I NEED this birch bark bucket? I think I do! It's only 10 bucks!"). It's one of those places I go to just to browse and I always walk out with a must- have item. Bottom line? It's just plain fun.

I stumbled on this cute little shop in the South End the other day. They have lots of cute novelties and great gift ideas, but as the other reviews said, its not cheap. Its also on a very quiet side street and not near other shops in the South End.

I love Aunt Sadie's for unabashed kitsch (x-mas decs a month before Thanksgiving... yesssss!), down-home-goodness (remember crepe paper party favor balls from being a kid? They actually sell those!), and blatantly expensive but gorgeous gifts. I love going in there and just craving everything around me, from the $15 soy candles that smell like pure heaven, to the cute French inspired home goods and trendy reusable tote bags. Totally South End!

Union Park is a great street to stroll down--I do almost daily on my way home from work--and one of the highlights is the aroma of Aunt Sadie's as you pass by. One time they were pouring scented candles and I wandered in, half hypnotized. Lotsa cutesy things in pastel stripes and polka dots; the kind of stuff you wish someone would buy for you but are never quite willing to open up your own wallet for.

Cute shop with a ton of eclectic items for the home. They have a line of bizarre types of candles like beer, grass, etc..(most of which are a novelty but a couple actually smell good). Prices are fairly reasonable and the people are quite nice. Just a great shop in the South End.

Love this place, great finds. The scented candles are fabulous..the chocolate one smells good enough to eat..all the candles smell great and are practically homemade. They offer cute, out of the ordinary knick knacks perfect for gifting such as adorable baby gifts, cards, notes, and home accessories. Aside from the high end prices on certain things, this place is awesome to walk through and enjoy!

A fun stop if in the area. -

i absolutely LOVE this store! i usually hate these kinds of places because i feel like they're a waste of time, but aunt sadie's decor is just perfect and the products are the right mix of fun knickknack type things and actually useful home items. for instance, they had absolutely adorable aprons, pot holders.. etc. we couldn't resist and bought a really cute clock for our apartment - it was more than i intended to pay but i was really happy with it. absolutely adorable baby stuff in there, too.

One of my favorite stores in the south end. The candles are wonderful. My favorite is "tree in a can" which burns perfectly. Lots of unique items in the store and usually you can find a gift for just about anyone (men, women, children). The owner(s?) and staff are very nice. Occasionally they do some crazy 6am sales where the earlier you go in the more you save.
