UPDATE 5/6/2011 AUNT MARYS IS UNFORTUNATELY NOW OUT OF BUSINESS =( =(
UPDATE as of 5/2/09 My star rating has raised from 4 to 5!! I went yesterday and tried a number of their homemade dishes such as Eech (kind of like Tabouli (sp)? but with a more tomatoey base and the spices...oooo!), Spicy Beet Salad, and the Lentil Salad. The owner spent a lot of time with us giving us tastes of anything we wanted and answered all of our questions. My rating went up because I truly could taste the quality of the ingredients and the awesome spices. Soooo good and soooo healthy.
UPDATE as of 4/16/09 AUNT MARYS NOW HAS TWO SMALL TABLES WITH TWO CHAIRS EACH INSIDE THEIR STORE.
OK, so I think the crabby yelpers below have a point about the no chairs if you feel like eating in but the food is great! And it's Lexington, what do you expect - things ain't gonna be cheap. 6.99 for a burger and fries is actually a bargain around here and also I don't think it is unreasonable for other towns or even restaurant chains either who usually charge even more for their burgers.
Go here if you are in the mood for friendly staff who will help you pick just the right thing you are in the mood for, and take the time to describe the menu. I tried the special dip that is the owners' moms (?) recipe and it was stellar! Their menu has a bit of a Mediterranean flair but they also have standard things for people who don't like to branch out. -

New, very unique, and highly promising.
When I drifted into Aunt Mary's World Cafe last night it was 20 minutes past the 8 PM closing time, but the owner cheerfully fulfilled my request for a delicious Italian Meatloaf Panini sandwich with provolone and marinara sauce accompanied by a cup of creamy New England clam chowder.
"I know how it feels," he empathized, "you want more than a take-out pizza after a long day."
Wedged between a Chinese take out and a local Jewelers in an undistinguished Dunkin Donuts strip mall overlooking a busy suburban intersection, this "cafe" serves up its food strictly to-go. There are no tables or chairs. Just a counter, a deli case full of exotic pastries and salads, and a cold drink cabinet.
The "worldly" menu features a happy, eclectic mix of foods like pressed Cuban sandwiches, authentic Falafel, a Roast Garlic Caesar salad, and something called "the soon to be famous Lexington Hot Brown: turkey breast, provolone, bacon, caramelized onions and thousand island dressing".
I know. A rare "un-crabby" review. But what I took home was quite satisfying. I can't wait to try more. -

Aunt Mary's is a little take out estabishment that now has two tables inside. They have wonderful food and boasts a selection of ethnic food, hamburgers, and sandwiches go along with standard fare such as soups, salad, ad desserts.
Their food is always fantastic and the owner is very friendly, letting you sample anything in the case. They even have samples at the counter that you can help yourself two while waiting for your order. I highly recommend the muhamara and their own pita chips. Although it is not cheap, it is quite tasty.
The location is at the Countryside plaza in Lexington. It is located in the same plaza as Dunkin Donuts and a dry Cleaners, as well as my barber. It is truly a hidden gem. You must check it out if you are in area. I always make it a point to go after I get my haircut. -

Great and fresh food. They make lots of spreads and dips, most vegan and all vegetarian. Their menu has great sandwich choices for everyone! The falafel is awesome and they serve it with homemade spicy turnip pickles, hummus and veg. I like to add hot peppers and regular pickles Mmmmmm They also have a great walnut dip and eggplant dip! Lots of baked goods, homemade pita chips, and drinks to choose from.

Enjoyable change to have homemade, quality takeout. Soups, sandwiches and the beet salad all good to go.

Aunt Mary's World Cafe is one of my favorite lunch stops in the area. I work about 10 minutes down the street from the quaint shop and always receive speedy and friendly service. The owners and employees (I think the place is family owned) are extremely helpful if you're a newcomer to their ethnically exciting menu, and will even let you sample the foods. The homemade pita chips are to-die-for and pair well with the large array of homemade dips and spreads. I've heard from a co-worker that Aunt Mary's makes one of the best ruben sandwiches around and I always have a tough time choosing which wrap to eat because they're all so delicious.
