Review from Lupe d.
Down a way from the main stretch of chain restaurants in Rockford is Aunt Mary's, we almost didn't eat here...and almost made a BIG mistake. This place gets very busy on the weekends, but it moves very fast - it's a well oiled machine - but we never felt rushed. Staff was very friendly, very efficient. As others have mentioned, it definitely has a classic diner feel to it.
The food is really, really good. Bottomless coffee, everything made fresh, and the portions are huge! Several skillets to choose from, which I loved, all kinds of pancakes, toast options - so much that it took a while for me to pick!
In the end I went with a skillet, which I couldn't finish because it was so much food - with the potatoes mixed with veggies and cheese, toast, etc...was too much! I had enough for lunch later that day!
Prices were very reasonable considering the amount of food we received.
I don't get out to Rockford very often, but the next time I am out there for an over-nighter, I will definitely be visiting Aunt Mary's for breakfast! -

I really like this place - it has the classic dinner feel (bar, stools, booths, endless coffee etc) but without feeling greasy. It's light and airy and so's the food. I mean if you're going to get Aunt Mary's Skillet with bacon, ham, sausage, onion, green peppers, eggs and cheese on a bed of Rosemary potatoes, then there's only so light that meals gonna be, but in comparison to many other dinners they manage to make it feel fresh and crisp.
The service is always friendly, the clientèle bustling and the cakes in the counter tempting. When you walk in of a morning, your nostrils are filled with a heady mixture of bacon and pancakes that makes choosing what you're going to eat from the extensive menu, a task that should rarely be tackled on an empty stomach. Life is tough. -

It was worth getting up at 6AM to get on the road early so I could hit Aunt Mary's before my flight home to San Francisco today. My sister made the suggestion for mediocre breakfast near the South Beloit bus station or awesome breakfast 1/2 hour away.
Of course I said awesome was the way to go!
Lots of seating, lots of breakfast choices, bottomless coffee, decent orange juice. Breakfast came together nicely. Eggs, hash browns, toast, chicken-apple sausages, sweedish pancakes stuffed with bananas and nutella (topped with strawberries), eggs benedict, rosemary potatoes.
The staff was friendly this cold early morning as well.
Yay for traveling out of the way for awesomeness! -

Located in a busy strip street with new stores n really surpised me.
Ordered corned beef hash. With two eggs and Swedish pancakes ( rolled up with sweet cream)Nice open floor plan.Clean carpeting all around.
We sat by the big window facing the street. Excellent ventilation-came out smelling the same way we came in--GOOOD! -

Great breakfast, A few of the other reviews are off, or maybe old. first of all, 3 dollar signs? my french toast was $5.50 (and delicious). second, the bacon is thinly sliced, not thick (which is good), and third, no carpet. it's a nice clean tasteful tile.
service was great, coffee refills are aplenty, and they have wifi! I had a great breakfast and then hung out with my laptop for a while. An unexpected bonus. -

Nice, filling, greasy spoon diner that still has its spinning stools at the breakfast bar. The bacon is cut thick, and they serve it in rashers of four. I've only ever ordered breakfast here, but as it's served all day, that suits me fine. Good prices, friendly service, and the coffee mug is never allowed to reach the halfway point. It's not inspiring food, but the fare is what you expect--and want--from a diner. I always bring friends here when they come to visit.

I wish I could've met Aunt Mary so I could thank her for so many things -- endless cups of coffee, my tasty breakfast burrito with the home made salsa, the crispy rosemary potatoes, the Swedish pancakes covered in nutella, caramel, and nuts, the chicken apple sausage, the waffles, the Mickey Mouse pancakes, the smiley server, the owner who comes by to make sure everything is all breakfast and sunshine. An excellent way to start any day or just give it a delicious boost.

We got together with 4 friends on Saturday, Sept. 12th, for dinner @ Aunt Mary's. 6 people, 6 different tastes. Each of us were happy with our dinners. The menu reminds me of the diners in Jersey that we visit when there. Great variety, wonderful service, tasty food, the desserts are excellent. Don't forget the prices are quite easy to deal with too. We had fish, pizza, eggs, and a sandwich. It was all good. The decor is simple, but nice and clean. A great little local restaurant.
