I usually go here about once a week. I have always gotten great service at Aunt Aleda's. They treat you like family. Sure, it gets a bit busy on weekends and oversights are made. Not looking for perfection. I absolutely love their pancakes. Delicious and huge. I usually get mine with fresh strawberries & bananas. The prices can't be beat. I would expect to pay a lot more for what they give you.
The bakery is decadent. Cheesecakes, cream puffs, canollis, eclairs and much more. I can never decide what to get, and there's always something new. I usually end up getting 3 or 4 pastries. Prices at the bakery, also very reasonable.
If you have a food allergy, they are more than willing to tweek a recipe for you if given enough notice. I also have NEVER had any issues with the work staff. They are always friendly and helpful.
No, I do not work for them. I just think this restaurant serves up some of the best homemade food I have ever eaten. Not easy to find with IHOP and Friendly's. -

I'm not sure if I have just been lucky, or if other reviewers are expecting far too much out of a breakfast joint - but I absolutely love this place. We have breakfast here at least twice a month on either a Saturday or Sunday.
Seating/Waiting: Sometimes there is no wait, sometimes there is a wait - it's breakfast on the weekend and a wait is always expected. No, they do not have anyone posted at either entrance as a hostess - but the waitresses approach you as they see you at the door. If you want to be seated immediately I suggest you visit an IHOP.
Usually we sit at the counter and have enjoyed getting to know the staff over the past few months. They are always extremely nice and attentive.
The food is always great. I usually get the eggs benedict on a chive biscuit and add spinach. Delicious. They have awesome specials that my boyfriend usually tries and he never has any complaints. The portions are generous, and the homefries are a blend of regular and sweet potato pieces.
Our experience is always a good one, and even though we have now moved a half hour away we make the trek out to mansfield just for the breakfast. If you are looking for nothing more than good cooking at a local breakfast joint, you will be pleased. -

Went to breakfast here over the weekend for the 2nd time and really enjoyed myself. The food was delicious, their eggs are very good as well as their sausage gravy and biscuits. The prices are fair and you seem to get a lot of food as well. I never have finished my plate cause it's always too much!
The only downfall I see about this facility is the staff. I walk in and there was a woman at the counter, we stood there for a good 3 minutes before she turned to us and said, "you can seat yourself". That should have been told to us long before that point. We sat ourselves and about 10 minutes later the same girl comes over to us and asks if anyone has been over to help us yet, we said no, so she brought over menus, so the wait to get menus was a bit much. After that we had great service when our waitress eventually did come over to greet us.
The bakery was a different story, we went in after we ate breakfast and there was this young girl working and I just had some questions about the items I was looking at, and she was very snotty in her responses and really didn't know much about anything I was asking, so another girl who was much nicer, and putting away cakes helped me. I didn't buy anything cause I just felt she was rude and left. -

Have been there three or four times and all was well. Stopped by last Saturday just before 11:00 AM was seated and after 15 minutes later got up and left. The place was half empty and the waitresses must have been just too busy to stop by the table.
Never again. -

I really enjoyed my second trip here, they serve traditional and non traditional breakfast with a great little bakery attached. I ordered poached eggs on home made hash that was terrific.
This is a perfect breakfast stop that I will frequent on a regular basis. -

Things overheard at Aunt Aleda's;
-"I'll bring some more coffee in just a minute."
-"Oh, that's right, I'll get your orange juice... (then to herself) someone else wanted orange juice too..."
-"No one's been over here yet?"
-"[name redacted]! You have TWO orders up!"
-"Sorry to keep you waiting, I'll be back with your check in a minute."
And that was just during my ten minute wait for a menu, coffee or acknowledgement on a Saturday morning at Aunt Aleda's.
Located in Mansfield Center, this place has been three or four different breakfast/lunch joints in the past decade. With a dearth of good breakfast places in the area I've always been surprised that none has survived long. Aunt Aleda's isn't off to a very good start.
I walked in around 11:00am. A 'party' of one. I was told to sit anywhere, and chose a table. Three waitresses were working the roughly ten booths and ten tables. I was reading a paper, and after a minute or two tried to make eye contact with anyone that walked by. The woman that eventually did wait on me avoided eye contact to the point that an elderly couple at the next table started commenting on my chances of ever being served. Spying some menus on a counter I got one myself and perused the selections. Finally, the waitress that had been studiously avoiding me for ten minutes came over to ask if anyone had been over.
I quickly ordered coffee and breakfast, just in case I suddenly turned invisible again.
Coffee was good and hot, though I was always waiting on a refill. The blueberry pancakes were delicious, with loads of fresh blueberries in them as well as sprinkled over the top. There were only two of them, though I don't recall ordering a 'short stack'. There was entirely too much confectioners sugar put over the top of it. The bacon was nicely cooked and a generous serving, but that might be due to the fact that each piece was in fact several strips of bacon fused together.
I may try Aunt Aleda's again, as most of the problems seemed like a lack of experience with the waitstaff, which is surprising when only one of them looked under forty. -

Price range three $$$'s? Uh... no. This is your pretty standard locally run bakery. I paid under three bucks for two muffins, which sounds about right for baked goods.
I might not have reviewed this today if not for the error, which I felt needed clarification. I've only had a blueberry muffin and a cup of coffee thus far, and they're decent but not spectacular. Not much to base a review on, but I'll be glad to go again and give them another shot.
Nicer digs than I'd expected from the outside.
The owner of this place is going to be in for the fight of their life though. For coffee/pastry fixes, Honeydow and Dunkin are both straight down route 106 from it in opposite directions. Breakfast? Cafe on the Common is awesome and just down Main St a little ways. Aunt Aleda's does calzones, too, but there are a billion pizza joints in the area that also do calzones. -

I went there today for the first time. The decor is decent and it is much cleaner/less smelly than most breakfast places. The server was nice enough, but not very friendly.
I ordered the brioche french toast with bananas on top. It was a big serving, three large pieces. The batter was a delicious mix of vanilla and cinnamon. it was $7. My fiance ordered an omelette with cheddar, ham and mushrooms. He said that was good, but the home fries were far undercooked. He said the fresh baked cinnamon raisin bread was delicious! His was also $7. We both got OJ, which clearly came out of a machine.
We will probably try a different place before heading back there again. $20 was too much for a just ok breakfast. -

I decided to take the 3 kids i nanny for here for breakfast, it was a tuesday at about 7:30am only a handfull of people were there. We placed our order as soon as we sat down, drinks (coffee, oj and 3 milks) took forever to come out, waitress never offered crayons untill another family had to ask then brought them right before their food came out. kids had waffles and loved them, they didnt like the bacon( it was gross). i ordered a ham, spinach, shroom and cheese omlette which was overcooked and the ham was awfull, homefriends were awfull as well bread was amazing though. waitress never offered more coffee, milk or oj and didnt clear the table at all, had to track her down for bill. might take kids there for waffles again but i wont eat there. was not worth the $ at all

New owners, new menu, new decor, good place to go. The restaurant is bright and airy. The waitresses were friendly and helpful. The food was plentiful and delicious. My kids had eggs and pancakes, which were so big we brought home enough for tomorrow's breakfast. My wife had breakfast sliders - eggs, bacon & cheese on croissants. I had Eggs Benedict on a scone with smoked bacon. Every meal was well done and came out pretty quick. For a new restaurant, they seem to have nailed things down pretty quickly. The seating area is kind of small, but there's a foyer to the building so you're not waiting out in the cold. We haven't tried the bakery yet, but it looks to be just as good. The lunch menu looks pretty big and fairly comprehensive. We will definitely come back again.
