One of my favorite suburban spots! The food is FANTASTIC. Subs for everyone, tell them how you want it! They also have soup, pasta, burgers, wraps, salads, hot sandwiches . . . what more could you want? Many of the plates come with huge helpings of fries that you can share. Even the kid's menu items are fairly large. My little brother can't get enough of the mac n'cheese, or the oreos on the side. I myself have tried a multitude of menu items, but my preferred dish will always be the turkey-bacon-club. It's big, tasty, and good-looking. If you've got a sweet tooth but are looking for a healthier alternative to ice cream, try the Italian ice--and try several flavors! I like a mix of mango and strawberry, but they've always got several choices.

The best part about Augie's is the service. They are fast, always smiling, and super friendly. My family and I are regulars, so the owner always comes out to say hello. He even knows that my brother is picky and likes his chicken sandwich in a special way that differs from any other item on the menu, and we've never had a problem getting it done that way. In fact, they made it wrong once and the owner himself came out with a new sandwich even though my brother didn't make a fuss. Augustino's is more than a restaurant--it's part of what makes this town home.

Finally tried it after carrying around a coupon for months and overall I thought it was average. We tried the beef, it was okay, and we tried the shrimp po boy wrap and that was good. The fries were average and the cheese sauce was terrible. The service I thought was eh. It rubbed me the wrong way when we were paying for the meal the person at the cash register said "and what do you want for your drinks", implying we had drinks. I asked if they were included with what we ordered and of course they were not but to be honest I didnt know since it was my first time. Just kind of felt like if someone wasnt paying attention they could get bamboozled.

The decor was great, sort of a 50's theme but yet they were playing songs from today. Kinda thought if you're going for the 50's theme we would hear, well, 50's music, apparently not. My mental model also pictured ice cream and poodle skirts but thats just me.

I remembered loving Augie's sandwiches when I was younger and thought of them to cater my son's birthday party since we were holding it back in the western suburbs area.   Not trusting my high-school self's palate, we picked up a couple of subs to taste-test before placing our order. Both the Italian and American subs were solid as was the antipasto salad.  We ended up ordering something like 14 feet of combined party subs - italian and american, as well as garden salad for our party.  Both the subs and the salad were delicious!  Jerry was a pleasure to deal with (I changed the order a couple times due to guest list alterations), everything was packaged well for pickup, and most importantly the food tasted great!  One tip, we got a TON of salad for the amount of people we ordered for - order on the low side, we have lots of leftovers (although they did not dress it in advance, so luckily we've been able to enjoy the leftovers without it going bad).

I will definitely be ordering from them again for future events or just random take-out.

Today I have decided this is my new favorite hometown spot to eat...well anything!

They have such a variety-deli sandwiches, burgers, pizza etc. Thank goodness they have a hand held menu because if it's your first time going there, you'll probably need to take a seat and study the menu.

My absolutely favorite items are: Cobb salad, Sausage calzone, Tilapia fish sandwich, Buffalo bleu chips, homemade chips and of course my made to order deli sandwich.

Your eyes will surely be entertained with the decor and you'll leave pretty satisfied with your food!

This place is great. I thought it would be a fast food version of a deli and be so so at best. I'm glad I was wrong. The sandwiches are made with loving attention and are so good. So many to choose from and I haven't made my way through the whole list, but everything I've had so far has been awesome. I would also recommend getting a soup here. They are also pretty good.

I'm glad this place is so close to my work.

I was disappointed. I have heard people rave about this restaurant and then watched week after week as my boss would bring a BLT in to work from Augustino's- it looked like it had perfectly crisp bacon and bright red tomato and just looked so enticing that I decided to finally give it at try.

My husband and I stopped by on a Saturday night. The line moved pretty fast but was confusing with who was waiting for something and when you could move ahead to pay. I did like the "sandwich guy" who was very friendly and helpful.

It felt like a very long wait for the food. Our table was really wobbly and the chairs weren't comfortable for the long wait.

The decor in the restaurant is great and we enjoyed looking around and enjoyed the music.

My club sandwich was disappointing. The bacon wasn't crisp at all, the bread was really dry. It didn't taste nearly as I expected it would. The homemade chips were coated in parmesan cheese, which I don't believe the menu included in the description. I don't like cheese so that was a bummer. (My husband did love them, though.) We got a side of fried pickles and those were good but not amazing compared to other ones I've tried at other restaurants.

    Overall, it was just OK.

I must say, when I moved here to Carol Stream 3yrs ago, I didnt realize that I would be amid so much food.  From Arby's to Portillos...and EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN AND AROUND....then, POW....Augustino's comes into vision.  What a great place, great food and very nice staff.  I have tried most of the sandwiches there and must say, they do a stellar job.  From the beef to any one of the sandwiches...outstanding, fresh and lots of it.

I will say, I dont buy the salads because I think they are a bit overpriced and always look a tad dry.  Really, Im not going there for salads anyway.  They should pull them and stir to make them more appealing.

I havent tried their pizza yet.  I keep forgetting to go there on a Monday for 1/2 price 'zza.  Im sure its del'ish.  When I do, I will come back here and update my review.

Went there this past Sunday because of the great reviews on Yelp (not typically known for walking into buildings that look like jukeboxes because of a childhood traumatic experience... don't ask) and this place did not disappoint.

I thought the service was great, the guys who took our order could have been a little friendlier but I thought it added to the atmosphere. The ladies behind the register were a delight though, very helpful with a couple questions we had and just overall very kind. They even addressed people by sir and ma'am... I like that.

My friend and I got the meatball sub and a turkey sandwich to share. Meatball sub was very good (I'd ask for a little extra drizzle of marinara sauce) but the turkey was not very good at all. Because of the other great reviews I'm going to let this one slide but the bread was that chewy should have been warmed or something kind of bread that makes you just want to eat the inside of the sandwich instead of suffer through the bite and tear motion over and over again.

    Couple more things:
Everything costs extra so if you don't want something on your sub when they ask you are saving yourself some $ (I just kept saying "yeah sure" because I didn't know)

Don't get your food "to go" if yo have never been here. I really loved the old-school art and even if you are eating by yourself there is at least ten minutes of looking around you could do before you get bored.

Italian ice should be avoided... artificial flavoring galore... eww.

    So good.

The service is amusing, barking a lot of orders and directions but maintaining a friendly vibe.  Hard to pull off in most cases.

You grab the menu, pick out what you want, tell the cute guys behind the counter, grab your ticket and pay at the register.

They take your money, give you your drink, and tell you to sit down because the burger you just ordered is a POUND, and will take a bit to cook.

The cheese is actually cut fresh off the block, and the burger tasted fresh and delicious, like it was right off a backyard grill.

Free refills on soda, you just need to ask up at the front.

Some years ago, when the Garibaldi's in Bloomingdale closed, I figured that would be the last I would see of decent mushroom and melted cheese roast beef subs. I was wrong.

My wife and I went to Augustino's for a late dinner... sometime around 8:30pm. She got a chicken sandwich and fries, while I got a roast beef sandwich with grilled onions and mushrooms, and a seasoned cheese sauce.

On the side, I had sweet potato fries. Maybe these don't meet some people's definition of "real fries", but I don't care - they were crispy and needed only a little salt to reach perfection.

Now, the sandwich itself: The beef isn't thin and trending towards flavorless like Garibaldi's used to be (I only got it for the mushrooms!). Instead, the meat was sliced thick, and the marinade used for the meat was very good. The bread was lightly toasted; more importantly, it had flavor. The cheese sauce was thick, but not solid, and definitely had a little bit of kick to it. Fantastic.

My wife's chicken sandwich was thick, but still juicy all the way through - this is such a rare thing for white meat chicken sandwiches that I wonder if they brine the chicken before cooking. It came with a honey-mustard sauce that was strong on the mustard, and gave the sandwich (and fries) a nice, hot kick. Normally I'm not a fan of hot mustards, so I was pleasantly surprised to be liking this sauce.

Next time, I'll try the cold cuts to see if they stack up as well.

I love this place.  We used to stop here when we were hiking on the Great Western Trail, and we would plan our hikes and camping spots so we could be near here.  I've had the burgers, beef, and italian sandwich, and they are all top notch.  Some people get confused by the ordering, which can be sort of high pressure, I like the feel of the place.

Staff was friendly and decor was consistent with the name. It was interesting to look at some of the rock and roll memorabilia.

A great deli.  Took the teenager here for a lunch and he was in heaven!  He had the italian sub and I had a turkey wrap which had a great chipotle sauce on it.  It was a HUGE wrap, so I had half for lunch and half for dinner.

One thing we had which was just great, was homemade potato chips!  Yes, they are fattening, but what good food item isn't?

I have to agree with the other yelper who commented on the line.  They do tend to rush you, but that's only because it's usually out the door.  For some reason, this place is a big hit with all the contractors working in the area, so you'll see the painter, plumber, electrician, etc. trucks in the lot.  It's best to go around 11 or after 1 to avoid the rush.

First things first - who DOESN'T love juke boxes?? Right, OK. That's what I thought. No one. So this restaurant's exterior basically IS a juke box, so you know going in that it's going to be a good one.

My pops loves the Italian Beef, but their sandwiches (love classic clubs) are damn good. It's All-American, retro, loud and kitschy with hot rod crap everywhere, but the food lives up to the flare and keeps people (like my family) coming back year after year. Be warned - it can get cuh-row-ded during lunch but it's way better than the typical strip mall clones, espeically when you get it for the same price. Ch-ch-check it out!

Augustino's is a great deli with a few nice twists. The staff moves swiftly as they make my turkey sub. The Italian Beef sandwich is quite delicious. I've been going here for years and have tried a little of everything. The chicken Parmesan sandwich is really good. I always get the sauce on the side, so I can dip the chicken right into it. They make everything right the first time and accommodate my special requests without hesitation. Two thumbs up!

Tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon. The line made it look busier than it really was inside. I was a little thrown off by how they operate, but now I know better for next time - when you order the hot food, you're given a ticket to take up to the register, but you get all cold foods (sandwiches, salads) from whoever helps you at the deli counter, and then you bring those foods with you to the register. The hot food is then brought out to your table.

I got a turkey croissant which was huge and delicious. My step-daughter ordered spaghetti. She was given a generous portion (she couldn't finish it and that never happens with her and spaghetti) for only $5. My step-son got the kid's buttered noodles. It came with a drink, carrots with ranch dressing, and a package of Keebler graham crackers. All for only $3.99. My husband had a salad which he thought was good as well.

In all, our bill was $23 for four people. Everyone enjoyed their food and was stuffed. That's my idea of a good place to eat. We'll definitely be going back.

They've recently added fried pickles and cheese curds to their menu as a limited-time type of thing. I hope they keep them -- both were delicious. I waited a few days to come and write about how wonderful they were thinking I might regret both as they coursed their way through the rickety old body I have...but I'd absolutely go back for seconds.

Tip: Skip the honey mustard dipping sauce on the pickles and go with ranch instead. WORLD of difference, folks. Seriously.

I love Augie's.  They have a good corned beef sandwhich.  What's the point?  Well, corned beef sandwiches of quality are really hard to find.  Augie's are thick and the meat is thinly sliced.  I've had a few of their sandwiches and they're all good.  I've brought family and friends and they like it too.  The price is a bit expensive.  Although, if you compare it to something like Panera, it is better food for another $1 or 2.  For me, it is worth it.

If I have one knock against Augie's, it is the ordering.  It is an ordering line which you are rushed through.  So if you have a group of people, the billing will be challenging.  Head to the West Chicago location if you're in a group.

Back in the early 80s, this was a small little deli located in the strip mall next to the fire station. My mother liked to take my sister and I for italian subs. We moved away for 10 years, and when I moved back I remembered the most excellent subs I had from Augustino's. By that time, they had relocated across the way to the bigger location they are in today.

Even living in Lincoln Park, I would drive 30+ miles each way to Carol Stream just to have one of Augie's italian subs and macaroni salad.

I've moved away (again...sigh) and every time I visit the Chicago area I will drive, no matter how far from where I'm staying, to Carol Stream just to get one of their Italian Subs. There is no sub better, ANYWHERE.

Great classic deli/beef joint in the western suburbs. I miss seeing Augie behind the counter, but the staff that's there is just great! Great place to get killer Italian Beef. They also make great deli sandwiches any way you like, including some fine pastrami. I like the Italian sub, no oil, extra hot peppers, or the small Greek salad with peppercini peppers on it.

The walls are lined with some real, some fake rock n roll memorabilia, but the photos of hot rods over the sandwich counter give you an idea of what Augie is all about. Hot Rods, man, hot rods!

My only complaint is they charge you for drink refills, which reminds me too much of Portillo's... But other than that, a worthy destination in the Western Suburbs for beef lovers. They also have a location at North and Rt 59 in West Chicago.

PS -- Yes, they DO have outdoor seating! Yes, they deliver to offices!

I have had Augustino's since I was a kid and I've only ever had ONE thing - the Italian sub...which is fantastic. It had been a while since I've gone here and went back over the summer and picked up an Italian beef for my Dad and an American sub (minus bologna) for my sister. Now i've read that the beefs are better than Portillo's (huge Portillos fan here) and my Dad also agreed. His sub did look rather tasty and I think the next time I go back I will have to get it. Augustino's has been consistently good throughout the years. It is a tad expensive for sandwiches - but worth it. They have great fresh cut fries and chips also.

As stated in other reviews - this place gets PACKED at lunch time. It dies down after 1 or so - or at least it did when I went there. The parking lot is tiny so that fills up quickly. I think you can park in a "lot" adjacent to it but am unsure about that.

In any case - try it. it's old school and it's delicious!

I haven't had an Augie's sub in probably about 6 months, and now that I'm thinking about it the Italian, I'm craving it. Here's an update on that: I'm going to my parents house this Saturday to take pictures of my brother and his prom date, and I just called my mom at 10:00 at night and requested there be some Augies for us to eat.

The atmosphere of this place is pretty cool, the front of it is a huge jukebox and the inside is covered with neat pictures (a little like Portillos, but much better). It's just a cool place to go when you want something delicious to eat.

I don't really have many recommendations for this place other than the Italian sub. It's the only one I've ever had and I've always stuck to it. A friend had a ham and cheese sandwhich there one time and that was really good, too...but mostly I just love the Italian sub. Ohhhh boy....can't wait for Saturday!!!!

Auggie's definitely has a style of its own. They have delicious subs and their pasta is pretty darn good. It looks a little dark and dingy, and you should go into the line knowing what you're ordering before you order it because this place gets packed and they want to move you through the line as fast as possible. Definitely one of my favorites, though!

This is a memory only:  I have not been to Augustino's since the late 80s, but I have to chime in, as I remember the place as being a small deli near the video arcade where all my friends and I would play games.

Even then, Augies was famous for its sandwiches, and eventually they parlayed their uncompromising quality into a much larger establishment some 1/4 mile away.  What I remember the most was the fact that they NEVER skimped on the ingredients: both quality and quantity.  What a place!  I wish them the best, and if I am ever out in Carol Stream, I will be there again.

There are many, many things I'm not... but one thing I AM is a bit of a cheeseburger connoisseur. Cheeseburgers are my favorite food - and I always make sure to order one anywhere I go.

Augustino's has, in my opinion, the BEST cheeseburgers in the suburbs. They're delicious. Big, juicy, tasty... Absolutely delicious! I can't say enough about them, really.

I did veer from their cheeseburgers long enough to try out their spaghetti. It was really good, as well. Mind you, not good enough to keep a burger-nut like me from ordering my burgers... but definitely really good.

Oh, and their fries are delicious. Especially if you squeeze some pickle juice on them before you eat them. Sounds weird, I know - but it's absolutely delicious.

My family (even the extended ones) absolutely love their Italian beefs. I'm not a fan of beefs, so I haven't tried them, but my entire family swears by them - so that's gotta count for something, right?

This place has been here a long time. I think this may be their second or third building. What hasn't changed is their food. Always good, fresh satisfying food. I remember being a kid growing up in Glendale Heights and my parents coming home with a surprise dinner of "Italian subs from Augies." Good stuff!
